Is this still a reliable pool to use?
very, just check the block explorers as to who is solving all the blocks.

Guys, apparently my wallet is stuck... It is fully functional, fully synchronized but no stakes! My last stake was 4 months ago! WTF? I'm using nvc-v0.5.8-81-g63c3d37-bdb-gcc Any ideas? I gave up on staking this coin.. no stakes and it has lost some serious value against fiat and btc. locking away what i havent sold into some peripherals and moving on to greener pastures.

yes, the thread has degenerated a bit into some back and forth. guys cant we all just get along? if you cloned and build the git repo from scratch re-enter that main directory and "git pull origin master" afterwards rebuild and recopying geth into your /usr/bin directory after.. otherwise if you installed from packages then apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to have new geth installed automatically.
if you're running windows, may god help you.

seems like mining rigs are down across the network and difficulty is dropping pretty drastically.
my geth daemons have all crashed out citing "out of memory" fatal errors.
anyone have any insight on this crisis?

omg whats with the ground effect lighting on the msi 470? it actually responds really well to overclock in the amd gpu pro open source drivers. better than my 480s.
have not flashed any rom yet though, keeping my cards stock for resale when PoS comes which i expect is soon.

so did they lose this coin through a simple address collision or what?
After all these exchange "hacks", an address collision? It's pretty clear that Bitfinex had a very insecure security implementation. One of their 2-of-3 multisig keys was on an online server -- okay, that's understandable because they need automated withdrawals. But apparently, with only the use of an API key (whose credentials may or may not have been located on the same, or another online server) and Bitfinex's hot key, BitGo would sign off on any transaction, no matter the size or depletion of reserves. BitGo really dropped the ball here. They co-signed every single fraudulent transaction. That means they don't locally enforce any security flags or limits whatsoever -- they just take the first signer's word for it. That's a complete misuse of multi-sig. I hope BitGo burns for this. this in itself does not explain how the coins were appropriated though does it? so did they lose this coin through a simple address collision or what?
The coins were hacked... a collision is practically impossible. you seem pretty confident, does anyone have details on how this "hack" was perpetrated?

Thanks, so is there any significant difference between powered ribbon and USB risers?
powered ribbon risers tend to fail earlier after many installs, its the bending of the cable back and forth that does it in. the connections/leads inside each section of the ribbon can sever and the ribbon will cease to function or worse fry/short your card. i would use them still but be more careful and inspect carefully between each install. usb risers utilize a usb cable between two separate little pc boards to house the usb connections. they have a longer reach for mounting and are generally more reliable. have not heard about the em interference, thats an interesting point.

my atiflash utility was not able to find the card to pull ROM from..
Device 0 not found
even though i am mining with it flawlessly..
would like to flash these bios to some higher clocks if someone could point me in the direction of some non windows utilities.

if they're at full speed you would be fine with just venting exhaust and a manageable room temperature.
|
|
|
it was actually aticonfig settings.
although i'm still not sure why pci bus address (from lspci) difffers from those written to xorg.conf, a fresh aticonfig --adapter=all -f --initial resolved the issue completely.
thanks for checking in.

possible to get a list of nodes to add manually?
i can never connect to more than 11 at a time, mostly just 6 or 7 though and i have a 100+ coin stake that has not collected for over 4 months (120days) of straight staking 24/7

just ran into a motherboard that is not allowing any card not directly plugged into the pcie slot to show temp or adjust clocks.
ERROR - Get temperature failed for Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series ERROR - Get clocks failed for Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
is the error code, i know this has come up before but i could not find the posts.
is there a bios setting or remedy i could employ to bypass this issue?

i would forget the hashing boards for now and just attempt to plug in the bare ioboard with bb board attached and see if you can ssh in or pull up the web interface.
connect to your home router and it should show you which IP address has been allocated to it.
barring that you can portscan port 22 on all your local nets ip range and see which one responds.
lots of ways to tell. but basically if you got a new bb and io board there is a reasonable chance you should be able to at least pull up that interfaces daemons after the 90 second boot up process.

thanks again, found a slew of items that could help i this regard.. and although i am not positive its what helped, the gpu is hashing away again.
i think the bulk of the wear and tear came from the card likely being sold every time bitcoin dipped, then litecoin, then dogecoin etc..
i bet some of our gpu's could really tell some stories.
anyways lessons learned, light is your friend when doing this kind of thing. also, magnifying glasses or loups min 4x
also a sharp etching pen to run between the leads of any "overspray" is wise.
when i have time i'm going to go back in and re trace every lead and scratch between each one.. i am getting better hashrate so guessing more cores are initiating, but think it can do better.
