241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need Avalon setup HELP [1 BTC] on: July 24, 2013, 08:15:33 AM
Watching on the sidelines. I think he needs a find a local geek to help him.
It twould appear that he might not have a router, that would explain how he does not have WiFi and where he got the public IP address. I dont think he reset the internal router correctly.

Good luck and get to hashing.
242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: So i got my BFL 50GH+ but the fans noise ... on: July 24, 2013, 04:24:32 AM
Is this the Bitcoin equivalent of a first-world problem?  Cheesy Sorry, couldn't resist the humor.

If i was lucky enough to have that mining rig, make about 600.00USD a day, my problem would be a persistent  shit eating grin and a constant hardon, noise would not be a big issue.

End of off topic comment:

That being said, have a look at Coolink fans. I have a Norco SS 500 5 in 3 HD hot swap bay, that came with a really noisy 80mm. Swapped  itout for a Coolink and its whisper quiet now.

Not sure what rig you are referring to.  Bfl Single 60Gh pull about $90 a day before electricity cost at current difficulty.

I meant to say 600 a week.

244  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hub for pi and block eruptors Help on: July 23, 2013, 07:53:13 PM
I am using a dlink 7 prot hub with my R Pi.
http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-Hi-Speed-7-Port-Powered-DUB-H7/dp/B00008VFAF/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1374609181&sr=1-1&keywords=D-Link+7+Port+USB+Hub+DUB-H7%2FB
I am told that it can run 6 erupters without any problem. I am currently in search of a one that can support 10.  Here is a list of ones that should work. I dont think you can use any 3.0 usb hubs.

Go to BTCGuild and follow their instructions for BFGMiner. It's much easier.

I would suggest 50btc or bitminter....I think BTCGuild is throttling new member to keep below 51%  MinePeon is what I am using works out the gate no problems.
Here are a pic of my first asic running a blistering 335 mega hash. I will be a btc millionare in a few hundred years. Shocked I am still running a gpu as well for a total of 930Mh/s. I have ordered 5 more block erupters. I will prolly stop there. I am putting most of my BTC into mining shares.

247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: July 22, 2013, 09:57:32 PM
This hub, is more expensive since it's not just a power charging station.  Price: $1,160 + shipping so it's $23.67 per port!!!

Ouch! And I thought the previous price was steep! Updated.

batt01, don't RPi only support USB 2.0 hubs? Tell us how it goes.

Hmmm I thought I had order a usb 2.0 hub. It came today and the RPi refused to mate with It is a very nice well made unit tho.
248  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] - ADDICTION - KNCMiner buyin! on: July 22, 2013, 03:54:13 PM
I just picked up a few more shares last night. Holding 1.2k right now.
BTW: I want to change my bitfunder email, and I dont see any place in the profile to change it. In a week, I can replenish my BTC and get more at this level.
249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: July 22, 2013, 03:58:22 AM
I don't know. I find the Juiced hub to be just right. I can place a 120mm fan on top of the miners and it will cover all of them perfectly. Each miner also has a fair amount of space between each other. Theres no danger I see of a miner touching an adjacent one unless the usb hub is defective/malformed port.
Juiced is better than the new 9 port anker, but one should be aware that when you need to unplug a miner, you're bound to bump it into the miner behind it or in front of it.  you have to be super patient and have small fingers not to physically damage your miners when you need to unplug them from a full hub. thermal density is not an issue but it's a matter of understanding it and having an appropriate amount of air movement.  it would still be less and quieter than GPUs obviously.  physical access is the biggest issue with very dense hubs.

I just ordered the Juiced Hub. I want the try it on my RPi. Currently I am using the DLink 7 port hub. I would like something that holds a few more and I dont really like that the DLink has side mounted ports rather than top.
250  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Step by step guide for MinePeon on the Raspberry PI on: July 22, 2013, 03:12:59 AM
I followed your guide and was up and running very quickly. Thanks
If the Pi boots, and you see the green led and yellow network led, you can skip the ifconfig and not bother to connect a monitor. Just log into you router and check you lan connections.
You will see minepeon the mac and the IP.

Might be a good idea to reserve that (or one you prefer) IP so it wont change.

251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Running USB Block Erupters on a VM on: July 20, 2013, 04:29:12 AM
I have a few block erupters ordered and I have a Raspberry PI and a UnRaid server to it primarlly used to store, serve and download media. I already run one VM running under VirtualBox that hosts FreePBX. The server run 24/7 anyway, so less power would be consumed than if I deicate the RPi. Anyone mining on a VM? Any reason why its not a good idea?
252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mini Rig Purchased and Hashing .... erm, so what's next??!! on: July 19, 2013, 04:04:33 AM
You have all 3 500 GH modules hashing? Post pics!

oh I wish! BFL couldn't get the 1.5 TH rig to work. 500GH is all I'm stuck with!

Be happy to post some pics - stupid question, can you attach local photos somehow? Seems only online stuff can be posted?

I weep for you as I hash at 1ghz on my 7970 and my 1 Usb  block erupter. Cry

253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mini Rig Purchased and Hashing .... erm, so what's next??!! on: July 19, 2013, 02:33:47 AM
Congrats on the new MiniRig. Here I am waiting for a Jalapeno.
Do a brother a sold and run it on my 50miner acct for overnight. So I can buy a couple of
USB block erupters. Roll Eyes You can pm me for the login.

KNC seem to be a popular choice, right now. 8K for 400Ghz is a pretty good price per Ghz. Providing that they and deliver as promised. I am please with the shares in a KNC group buy I purchased.
They have doupled in value. I hope to get my own KNC in the near future. I have been unemployed for a year and I just got a job, starting in two weeks.
254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 6 asicminer erupters in a closed drawer on: July 09, 2013, 04:56:41 PM
Almost every pic I have seen posted with multiple Block Erupters show them in open air with a fan.
So I a drawer with small holes and no fan, would probably be a no.
If you had a drawer with some decent size cut outs and some sort of fan to provide air flow, that might be workable.
255  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC resale value on: July 08, 2013, 08:53:19 PM
ASICMiner USBs are going for $140-$200 on ebay and amazon.

You can get them for 1.05 BTC ($81.37), if you know where to look. I just want to accumulate some coin and hold for the long run. Its a hobby for me and might make a nice profit, no one can predict future BTC prices and diff is bound to level off at some pont. I have a couple of BFL units oddered April 2013 amd a full of USB Block Erupters on the way, mainly for shits and giggles.

I like the fact that the Usb Block Erupters are low power. I have a media server that run 24/7 anyway.
Its easy to set up a Linux or Windows VM to run them, or stop running XBMC on my RPI and use it.
256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitInstant verification email snafu on: July 03, 2013, 05:40:49 AM
If you dont need the BTC right away. Take a look at coinbase. Fees are very high with BitInstant.
Link in sig.
257  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Coinbase Work? on: July 03, 2013, 04:59:50 AM
I have used Coinbase twice to buy BTC. No problems.

For every user you invite to Coinbase who completes a purchase of 1 BTC or more, we'll send you both 0.01 BTC!

Check my sig.

259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 20, 2013, 06:28:48 PM
Just noticed that the auction is no longer on ebay. I wonder if the OP got his 25k or decided to mine with it.
