Does the video card also give random keys or sequential ones? the point is not in the similarity of addresses, but in the nature of their generation. Vanity generates randomly, so it is safe, and Bitcrack generates sequentially, so it is very easy to repeat the generation of the same address any number of times and in the opposite direction, on the contrary, it is easier to get accidentally into the key because sequentially it is unrealistic, the universe is too big https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1306983.msg55448862#msg55448862 Vanitysearch starts with a seed which, if not specified by the user, is generated randomly. All this talk about grannies is making me sad on at least two levels. Both of my grannies passed away well before the idea of Bitcoin was conceived (there are two levels in there). Even if they were still alive, I would never have subjected them to the Bitcoin hell that is hodler; it was stressful enough for them to adapt to the remote control TV and cable box and I never could get them to ditch the cheque book for a debit card.
I say we leave the grannies out of this and just buy them a nice present when it's all over. You cant go wrong with a cardigan for the elderly - anywhere in the world and any time of year.

That's where y'all get it wrong at, y'all keep trying to brute force the whole space. You have to know exactly where the range of the address is in then brute force that. But you can't know within what range was the private key of the address once it was chosen. Can you explain it a little more? I'm not an expert. First of all you should be going after addresses with its public key already exposed. That's 2^128 search range right there. You should be generating addresses/keys from the desired public key. The next step would be to find a partial collision of the key and brute force the remaining of the key or half 2^128 to 2^64. is there a probability of calculating the key in 1 second? Please create a new thread for this rather than cluttering up a perfectly good thread about Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22]. |
