2401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boris Johnson is the new Prime Minister of UK. on: July 27, 2019, 03:28:00 PM
How can anyone believe that the UK would be better off under EU rule ( I'm ignoring any comments about the organisation that controls the EU ). Since 1970, the EU has leeched money from the UK, diminished its industry and commerce and agriculture, almost destroyed it fishing industry. We now have a load of parasitical immigrant who are intent on destroying the current society, and reduced standards of food control. Much the same applies to other victims of the EU - Greece for example. The sooner that other countries escape from the profligate bureaucrats, the sooner Europe can return to profitable and healthy trading.

The EU was created to continue the plan to build the German industrial empire at the expense of other counties that it was able to suck into its control. The big question will be - How can the debt laden and asset poor countries rebuild their countries after the collapse of the EU. The UK will be fine, and its economy is improving all the time at the moment.
2402  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Troll Poll: Vote for Bitcointalk's Biggest Troll! on: July 27, 2019, 09:02:15 AM
What is it that trolls truly want? Attention. And you're giving it to them.

Well at least the thread provides a bit of entertainment. It also provides some guidelines as to who we can put on ignore.
2403  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My mindset vs. Mindset of people around me. on: July 27, 2019, 08:58:23 AM
I decided to become a digital nomad, and many people are critical of this.  I just point out that I have a positive net worth, and I believe that more than half of the populations of the US and the UK have a negative net worth. The number of people who can find £1,000 in the event of a crisis is also frightening. I've got more than that in my Bitcoin wallet, and that is just a part of my savings.
2404  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boris Johnson is the new Prime Minister of UK. on: July 27, 2019, 08:51:23 AM
I can say with certainty that Borris Johnson will use all his power to protect his overlord :

The British Crown is one of the three dynasties at the top of the Banking Elite. The other two are the Rothschilds and the Vatican. He was educated at Eton and Balliol College Oxford, so he is right in the middle of the Eton/Oxford elite. The big question is whether he will try to preserve the EU, or let it go under the bus as it is replaced by a modern style British Commonwealth. There has been a long term ambition to draw the US back under more obvious British control, and this can explain some of the more extreme bellicose actions, and its willingness to respect the influence of Israel. As an American born Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is an ideal candidate to move this forward.
2405  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Arachnophobia - HELP on: July 27, 2019, 08:38:04 AM
I'm not afraid of spiders.I'm in England, so we don't have any that can harm me, and it's the same with snakes. If I lived in a tropical country, then maybe I would think differently. Spiders are an important part of our biodiversity, and you should try to avoid killing them. Their cobwebs can be a nuisance, and I pick them up and throw them into the garden if if find them in the house. If you could force yourself to pick one up, and throw it outside, then that could help you to overcome your fear. Perhaps a friend could give you some support if you want to try this. It might be easier to start by trapping it in a glass.

There is a story about a buddhist monk training a novitiate. He asks him to walk along a plank that is set over a  water filled pool, and the lad manages this without any problems. The monk explains that the pool is filled with acid, and asks him to walk back. Half way across he falls off the plank, this is due to his fear of falling into the water. I don't know how much truth there is in this, but it does show how people can be affected by unreasonable fears.
2406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Regarding making bitcoin with pooled mining? on: July 26, 2019, 02:49:51 PM
The mining difficulty is getting harder all the time. I think you will have more chance of winning the lottery, than of mining a block with the setup you suggest.

That raises a minor point. You can't mine Bitcoin, all of the coins that will ever exist were created at the time the genesis block was laid. Bitcoin miners mine blocks, and are rewarded with coins from this initial pool, and they also get transaction fees as well. The transaction fees will allow Bitcoin to continue when all of the initial coins have been allocated.
2407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice for a poor newbie on: July 26, 2019, 01:58:54 PM
Here is my philosophy.

Only collect altcoins if you can get them for "nothing". For example you can collect BAT by using the Brave Browser, which I think is a great browser. You can get a few to start through the Fit to Talk English project as well.

I don't think you should speculate, but you should collect Bitcoin through scalping on an exchange like Coin Base. Keep a long term HODL wallet, and don't spend or exchange those for a couple of years. Watch videos like Krown's Crypto Cave to learn about Bitcoin price movements, and buy coins when you think the price is low. Sell them when you think the price might go down, and buy back again later. Don't use gearing ( leverage ), and never sell coins for a loss. If the price is below the price you paid, then either wait for a recovery, or move the coins into your HODL wallet.

I don't believe that you will lose money using this method, as long as you can hold on for at least a couple of years. The method is similar to dollar cost averaging, but includes a bit of speculation which should give your holding a boost. Note, because this is low risk, then it won't make you rich overnight, and it does require you to learn a bit about the price movements of Bitcoin
2408  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos 6000 btc, where is it? in NOAH ARK? .. on: July 26, 2019, 01:25:37 PM
Why does this matter? I'm pleased that BT is financially sound. Maybe I'm naive, but the only Bitcoin that really matter, are the ones in my wallet. Smiley
2409  Other / Meta / Re: How to design one of those sweet looking image-based promotional posts? on: July 23, 2019, 08:41:09 AM
Do these posts work? I skip over them, and ignore the thread if it is the opening post. This is a message forum, and not a webpage hosting service. I like to read the facts, and not look at pretty pictures that don't say anything.
2410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I increase the appeal of my node? on: July 22, 2019, 06:16:27 PM
I think it is something that we digital nomads may need to consider. Bitcoin is a brilliant currency for us, and running a node isn't really too much of a problem. Having to drink too many cups of coffee whilst waiting for a synchronisation may be. I haven't had a chance to install Wireshark, and produce some stats.
2411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I increase the appeal of my node? on: July 22, 2019, 06:02:53 PM
A bit of an update on this. I seem to get more nodes connecting to me when I am in Kentucky Fried Chicken, than when I am in McDonalds
I suspect there is a joke in there somewhere. Smiley I don't think it is the ISP, so it must be something that McDonalds are doing to their customers' traffic.
2412  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The Jet Cash coffee lounge thread. on: July 22, 2019, 08:36:55 AM
At the moment institutions seem to be buying Bitcoin through direct deals away from the exchanges. One miner sells to an ATM operator for example. These transactions are not reflected in the price movements for Bitcoin. I wonder what will happen if a government or bank starts a major mining operation, because they aren't  able to buy coins without using the exchanges.
2413  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The Jet Cash coffee lounge thread. on: July 22, 2019, 05:40:10 AM
Well here we are on Monday, and I seem to have misread the Bitcoin price movement once again. I have an open buy order at £8,995, and I thought we would have a pump and dump over the weekend. The pump was pretty weak, and the dump doesn't seem to be happening. I think we are due for another run up in the price soon, but the world political situation seems to be in chaos. It's even worse for me as I am in the UK, and the media puts their globalist spins on all the news. They portray the resignation of the treasonous remainer MPs as a disaster, but in reality Boris would have sacked them as he "drained the swamp". I wish he would do the same with the senior civil servants who are leeching the wealth and economy of the country.

So is Bitcoin going to be a safe haven, and thus increase in value, or will people take the misguided view that the US dollar is the true safe haven for wealth. I see that £4 million in gold has been seized as part of a drug payment, and they say Bitcoin is the currency of the drug dealers and money launderers. 2414  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good news - Sterling is dropping. on: July 21, 2019, 08:12:42 AM
The UK has quite a few products that are world beaters. The Type 26 frigate is reputed to be the best in the world - better than the US and Russian equivalents.
https://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/good-news-for-the-royal-navy-and-uk-plc-type-26-frigate-design-wins-in-canada/

The problem is that the media doesn't seem to report the positives. I guess this is because the EU is petrified of losing the money that the Eton?Oxford elite politicians her pump into the EU. Just think how strong the UK economy would become again once it got rid of the EU leeches.

Is a mod trying to change the direction and emphasis of the forum? It is becoming difficult to find good political discussions that rise above the activities of junior political players, or that discuss topics that do not agree with the mass media reports.

If his ban really was the result of English not being his first language, then there are several members here who will help him to improve his command of English. His first requirement is a will to improve his English, and the second is a willingness to spend the time required.

2420  Other / Ivory Tower / Soul piano music by Junior Mance on: July 20, 2019, 07:32:25 AM
I'm in the supermarket cafe drinking coffee, and waiting for the delivery of some more tools I bought from Amazon - A 150mm hole saw, and some stainless steel nuts and bots with nylon washers. I'm fitting a solar extractor fan to the van a bit later. I'm listening to some jazz piano music from the 60s whilst I work our what I plan to do with Bitcoin over the next week or so. I thought I would share these uplifting tracks by Junior Mance.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zEK76RHR4g

Junior Mance had his first professional gig in Chicago at the age of 10, and had an interesting career following that - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_Mance
