2461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At What Age You Got into Bitcoin and also Trading? on: January 04, 2023, 10:02:31 PM
I came across with this technology when I was 15, that I think was way back 2013, but I did not put that much attention into it. It was in 2016 where my interest towards this industry grew; made some cents out of faucets and in 2017 with airdrops. Then afterwards signature campaigns and trading. As far as I remember, I've learned trading "late" 'coz it is a bit complex and even at this point I am still not that 'good' into it. Sinply proves that there are no easy ways to earn profit in this industry in contrast with the impression created towards it by some non-crypto users. In my general experience, I'd say this technology really helped me a lot with finances and as a curious individual. Some people might have regrets of not investing early, but I think it is just the same thing; knowing it on its early years won't mean that you'd invest right away.
2462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 14 years ago today, the first Bitcoin was mined. on: January 04, 2023, 03:51:03 PM
Happy birthday Bitcoin, I didn't buy you on time and I'm very sorry about it
Don't waste your time feeling sorry and thinking "what if" and instead focus on acquiring bitcoin. You probably won't get filthy rich, but for sure its not too late to buy now, especially since current price is far from all time high.

I did similar mistake back in early 2014, thinking (wrongly of course) that I was too late and instead buying 0.1 bitcoin I spent few hundreds of dollars on shitcoins instead. Fortunately, later on i realized my mistake but I never look back thinking about it (unless I see posts like yours) and instead I feel fortunate that I am buying bitcoin on the regular basis in the last 6 years which proved to be a very good move.
Probably one of the misconceptions about this industry. Many people hope that there are able to buy Bitcoin when its market price is still low without considering its low potential before. To those people who has the same mindset; just think of why there were people who traded their Bitcoin to a pizza, a man lost his hard drive containing huge amount of Bitcoin, and stories of the like. Simply because they were in doubt of this technology before and we cannot blame them. Same thing with people who thinks that they can hold it for that long. They are only saying such thing because they have already witnessed how high its market price became at the present but if they'd be back in the past without knowing such thing, they might be ones of those who sold their Bitcoins early.
2463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be banned or stopped by governments on: January 04, 2023, 03:12:06 PM
Well, technically, yes. This technology could be stopped by governments if they would like to. The thing which makes this technology run is its community so if governments will be banning the usage, then this industry would be at risk.
The government sees bitcoin as a threat to traditional currencies, threatening to undermine central banks' control over money.
Many countries have promulgated laws and regulations that prohibit Bitcoin, but after a period of time, they announced that Bitcoin is allowed to be accepted.
It is difficult to implement a ban on Bitcoin in many countries unless the government fully controls the Internet. Such an approach will lose popular support. People will have some overreactions.
I do see it as a threat for the government in terms of avoiding taxation unlike with fiat based transactions which are monitored by governments of each country. Fiat still is more powerful so I doubt this technology would be more than that given the market volatility on the prices, there would be more people to still use fiat simply because it is less risky to possess than to lose due to market price volatility. But in the future, it is more likely to coexist with one another simply because of the difference in terms of preferences of both investors and non-investors of this technology.
2464  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin banking is more preferable than normal bank. on: January 04, 2023, 02:41:59 PM
Depends on your preference. If you are into security, then banks would be a better option because that's what you are paying for; they'd secure your money. But if you don't want your money to be stagnant, choosing an asset by means of storing a particular value would be also great, just take note of the risks. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has advantages over banks but for sure banks as well have such thing and one is being acceptable across countries. Those people who prefer storing cryptocurrencies are simply ones who are seeking profit than to just let their money 'sleep' over years. But to answer the statement when it comes to preferences; banks still is more preferrable by more people. One reason is stability wherein we are not all ready to risks even if profit will be in exchange. Next is wide range of usage and for being accepted as a mode of payment. Lastly, banks would allow you to loan through credit while Bitcoin banking won't In terms of Bitcoin's advanatages, there's no need to mention lower fees and faster transactions and also anonymity. But more importantly, being profitable.
2465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best altcoin to look out for on: January 04, 2023, 02:06:38 PM
If you have a look at Coinmarketcap you will find out that there are thousands of coins and tokens listed over them but do you think there is any potential coin over there that can possibly give your desired profits? But if you funds then go for top altcoins like ETH or BNB because of Binance growth it can give return otherwise there are pump dump coins in which you can make short term profit if invested timely.
Indeed Big altcoins would be a better option if you are looking for a more consistent investment or having less risk involvement. But if you are willing to go down for the profit, smaller names would be a good option BUT you need to know which is which. New tokens has higher rate of increase over big names in this industry but since we are talking about profit, bigger risk would be present. The market prices of new tokens or altcoins has a higher volatility in terms of their market prices. Indeed it could generate bigger profit but that would also mean that there is a higher tendency for an investor to lose if he'd come across or be picking wrong altcoins. On my end, I prefer long term investment on altcoins such as with tokens with established communities (BNB, ETH, XRP and the likes), while waiting for bullish trend.
2466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 2023 be another up year for Bitcoin? on: January 04, 2023, 01:39:23 PM
Hard to tell at this point because it does seem that the market price of Bitcoin will again break its all time high in 2024 because of the anticipated Bitcoin halving. But I don't want to close the doors for this technology's chance in 2023. It is still too early to conclude but since problems or issues which made its market price fall such as inflation, FTX incident which is still fresh, and the likes are still present, then it is still blurry to see a huge uprise with this market in general. But if there will be news for this year which would be positive towards this industry, ofcourse that would give the market prices a lift because the interests of investors will again be caught.
This is a year for bitcoin investors to gain back from their last year lost. We should also be ready to face the unexpected this year in bitcoin price and take advantage of its outcome.
We don't know if this year will be the year where investors can return to profit from previous losses, maybe the time will be longer but those who are never in a hurry will get better results.
The picture that Op included can be a consolation and raise optimism for this year, but we have to be prepared with all eventualities.
Well actually if it is only profit, investors may still be able to earn such thing through ups and downs of this market. Try Futures Trading wherein investors may sell short to earn profit market price downfall but that won't be easy ofcourse. You'll be needing fine analytical skills not to mention how hard to predict market prices are due to market volatility.
2467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your wishes for BTC in coming years? on: January 04, 2023, 01:02:53 PM
For sure many of us would wish for this technology to be accepted by more countries as a mode of payment. But I'd also add that I wish to remove all of the misconceptions about bitcoin for more people to recognize its usage and to lessen the number of people being a victim of volatility in its price because they lack the knowledge. As more people are knowing this technology, there is also a growth with the articles and topics which could give awareness towards non-crypto users. And if this progressive development would continue, I believe that it would yield for a betterment of this technology in general.
On the occasion of bitcoin forth coming birthday celebration, here are my wishes for bitcoin;
I believe bitcoin will gain more adoption as the year's roll by and for the fact that we already have two countries who have legally adopted bitcoin, it will become easier for those coming into bitcoin to at least build some knowledge because what we need in the Bitcoin ecosystem is true Bitcoin users who know the fundamentals of bitcoin as an alternative currency and also an asset.

We don't want to see speculators who may want to take advantage of the volatility of Bitcoin to make few bull's and cashing out there by dumping the price.
Sad reality but that's just how a market works; people would take advantage of the market price volatility. What we should be afraid of is impressions that this technology is a gateway to become rich in an instant.
2468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Gambling 2022 - How was it for you? + - <> on: January 04, 2023, 09:13:01 AM
Quite made some profit during third quarter of last year because of esports betting,to be specific- on TI. Had some lucky guesses which generated profit. But since I've lost somehow of a huge amount on the first quarter, I did not earn that much if I would sum it up but still, I am happy for my gambling result in 2022, hopefully, things would be better for this year. I am planning to engage more with fighting sports 'coz there are many line ups for this year. But ofcourse, I'd be needing to manage the risks and avoid multiple bets I guess to make it a less risky gambling routine.  But in general, 2022 is a good gambling experience and is a better one compared to my 2021 losses.
2469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 07:25:07 AM
This is really true. But gamblers shouldn't fall for these. Free drinks are good but they shouldn't be a reason for anybody to lose discipline in the way they gamble. ATM machines are anywhere near casinos. Casinos themselves accept credit and debit cards and other ways to get those chips, but this shouldn't be a reason anybody losses all their savings. To counter this, a gambler could actually go to a casino bringing only an amount in cash which he could lose. Cards should remain at home. So whatever happens, even if he gets really drunk, he could lose no more than what he brought.
Should, indeed, but not something done as easy as it may sound. That's addiction in its broadest sense; being unconsciouly too dependent. Also, I oppose that drinks are major factor to gambling addiction but rather gambler's mindset. If the gambler in the first place aims to be rich out of gambling then that is where problem would arise afterwards. I've experienced being drunk but I just ended up sleeping and not wasting money. I'd relate this to womanizing which is also addictive to some people and their main alibi is because they're drunk, not even true. You could be drunk but it is your intentions which would make you move. Self moderation is the key; you did not go to a casino just to get drunk right? Go find a bar.
2470  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 03, 2023, 03:30:57 PM
I guess rebate to an amount of deposit would be a good thing even if the rebate would be only used in the casino in form of bettable point such as with free spins. The only problem I see on free spins is the fact that rewards are not as big as the actual game. I do get the point that casinos won't allow players to win big time thru free spins but atleast, I guess it would be better to make it more interesting through bigger than usual rewards. Also it would be a win-win because those gambling sites to offer such bonus to the players would be more interesting for the players.
Currently we offer level-up bonuses for our VIP and rakeback. However, due to popular demand, we are looking to implement weekly and monthly bonuses as well. Do you guys happen to have any recommendations for a formula we should use in determining what an appropriate weekly/monthly bonus should be?

We would love to hear feedback from all bitcointalk members!

Hope you guys have an awesome and safe New Years! Smiley

-Punt Management

Of course, many regular players will not refuse to receive regular bonuses, especially on a regular basis, but each bonus requires wagering and how will it be with regard to weekly or monthly bonuses? I hope this will not be any different from the rules and will not require additional conditions.
For sure it will have conditions because weekly bonuses should be bigger than the daily bonuses they are already offering. And on my end I will have no problem with that I guess because those are just bonuses, as long as you won't be required to put money in order to be eligible of that promotion.
2471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 03, 2023, 02:52:04 PM
I don't but I understand those who does simply because they just depend on their luck even if they are aware that winning on lotteries is close to impossible unless you are lucky enough. But for sure they are having fun from doing such 'coz if they don't they'd stop the moment they are sick of losing which happens most of the time and to most of the bettors. For me who is into other type of gambling games would percieve it as a waste of time but we just do have our own preferences; we gamble on different ways but are all having the same goal which is to win.

Most people are not satisfied with their lives and they need some sort of hope for the future to keep going and to prevent themselves from turning into crime, falling into depression etc. However messed-up your life might be, there's still hope that buying a cheap lottery ticket could potentially turn you into a millionaire (or even a billionaire) overnight. That's a powerful tool.

And what do you think will happen if already depressed or near depressed person pays a lottery ticket with high hope of winning and it turns out to be a failure? Lottery is same as gambling, it has no difference but just a type of gambling. As always the advise is not to put money that you can't bear the loss because when playing a lucky game you should know that you can lose all or you win and smile.
Lotteries does not require that much of money unless you'd be computing all of your trials from it. Lottery is really a form of gambling in the first place. But unlike with the typical ones, a gambler won't be tempted to bet big time once, but continuously there's a difference I guess. The reason why many people are engaging into it is because of the low capital needed so I guess that won't hurt them as much as with poker and the likes.
2472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing the big multipliers in soccer on: January 03, 2023, 02:18:58 PM
Did you lose all of them? I can confirm too, haven't checked the Porto match result. I don't track that league a lot. Anyway, I had this experiment long ago lol, and at the end, I was in loss overall. In soccer, such result happen a lot of times, yesterday for example. PSG lost the match. If you continuously bet on underdog, you are going to lose a lot for sure.
I have gotten 5+ odd a few times but that's rare of course. I was lucky in the last cricket T20 world cup, I was able to get 7+ odds in 2 match if I can remember correctly.
Going against the odds is really interesting and in some matches it used to turn and finally our bet used to fail. I've got chances to win big odds from tennis matches. Most of the time I used to do live betting. Here it is an easy task to go with the best odds. As said it is a way to examine whether we're lucky or not.
Going against the odds would put you at risk but would definitely generate bigger profit. But to emphasize bigger risk, that is on you as a gambler whether to go against it or not. The only advantage of following the odds is to have a bigger confident with the winning bet inspite of having no certainty still. If you are a risky gambler you'd more likely go against because it would seem to be a shortcut to bigger profit but on my end, I think it is not. Following the odds is advantageous especially if you are not familiar with the teams in a match but you are eager to bet.

But going with multipliers, it is a risky move. You could lose all of your bets or win all of them . As I've mentioned, bigger profit means bigger risk. You choose as a player. On my end, Id prefer to play my bets safely not only in football but to all sports.
2473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 03, 2023, 01:34:56 PM
I am one of the punters or players who do be more on sports betting than playing with typical casino games such as poker and roulette to name a few. One reason is entertainment; I find gambling more entertaining in sportsbetting because I am into sports in the first place especially with basketball tournaments and fighting sports. I do understand that there are gamblers who enjoy casino games more because they find it easier and it requires less time to come up with a win. But I am not just that kind of gambler. We do have different preferences which I think answers the comparison betweek sportsbetting and casino games.

When it comes to profit, ofcourse same thing would apply; bigger bet yields to bigger profit but also means bigger risk. The only difference is the 'playing time' a player would consume on either of the mentioned categories in gambling industry.
2474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports Spread Betting VS Fixed Odds Betting on: January 03, 2023, 01:12:02 PM
So, I am learning about the concept of sport spread betting. It is still a bit confusing to comprehend when compared to the regular Fixed odds betting which I am used to. For a definition of the both of them see the quote below.

Sports Spread Betting
Quote
Spread Betting is an unfixed bet type that empowers the punter to predict an outcome of a match or event and back their judgment against the 'spread' quoted by the sports spread betting company. The 'spread' is a scoring range created by the sports spread betting company on a specific event or match. If punters believe this spread is too high or too low, they can sell or buy accordingly. The winnings or losses are calculated by the stake multiplied by the point difference from the spread.

Fixed Odds Betting

Quote
Fixed odds betting is the traditional form of betting where a bookmaker will offer odds on a specific outcome in a match or event. If that outcome happens, i.e. a horse wins at odds of 10/1, then the bookmaker will pay winnings of 10 x the stake, plus the original stake.

I do understand fixed odds betting because it what I am most used to. Can someone who have actually, engaged in the spread betting explain it to mean using football(because it is the sports I most bet on). Which is better in terms of payout and risk?

https://www.spreadex.com/sports/get-started/sports-fixed-odds-betting/
https://www.financial-spread-betting.com/sports/Spread-betting-sports.html
Informative on my end. Been on sports betting for a year and I think I am playing only with fixed odds betting. I was not aware of thesports spread betting but as I have quite a reading about it, I do think that fixed odd betting is a less complicated side of sportsbetting.  If I comprehended it correctly, Sports spread is evident with Dota betting platforms during TI and other tournaments wherein there are already placed outcomes punters may bet which I find it hard to come up with a win. But somehow there are punters who are earning huge amount from such type of betting style so I guess it will just be a matter of gambling preferences. But to answer the question and to aline it in football which is a sports teams are having a hard time to score, I guess sports spread would be easier because of the low team score (most of the time). In terms of  payout rates, not only in football, Fixed Odds would be bigger, in my opinion.
2475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a lone Sports Bettor or a Team Sports Bettor? on: January 03, 2023, 12:36:35 PM
Well I am really into both lone and team sports betting but I am most of the time enjoying team sports such as with NBA Leauge. But I do also bet with boxing and UFC fights. I enjoy them both to be honest but I just play the same sports as with NBA so maybe that is why. When it comes on winning bets in sportsbetting, I guess it is harder to predict a winning bet on lone sports such as with UFC and boxing because anything could happen in an instant. There are no underdogs and such 'coz fighter perform differently on every match. Unlike with team sports wherein most of the time (not always) dominant teams are constant with winning over other teams which makes it, I guess, easier to win on.
2476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone making a living from Crypto Sports betting? on: January 03, 2023, 12:05:44 PM
For sure there are and not only in sports betting but gambling in general. Some are just skillful enough to earn decent but there are few who are lucky. On my end, I am quite earning enough to continue playing, fortunately. Sportsbetting on the other hand is gaining more popularity since many leauges are now again operational since the pandemic is at ease. But also, it is one of  the gambling activities which requires less luck and more of analytical skills. A bettor may create assumptions of the winning team and losing team which makes it more entertaining, not to mention that you are actually watching the game of your interest unlike with other gambling activity wherein you'd just play and merely depending on luck.

If you are looking for a bookmaker, there are many in this industry. I am playing at Stake right now and so far I am having a good experience but you may also try primedice and other big names in this industry to lessen your worries on finding legitimate sportsbettinf site.
2477  Other / Archival / Re: [POLL]What do you expect from Bitcoin in 2023? on: January 02, 2023, 11:47:54 PM
Slight recovery I guess would be enough. I'm not expecting anything huge for this year because it just seems that it won't unless there will be something new, or a trend, that will boost investment interest towards this industry just like early or first quarter of last year. Right now, I'm looking forward more in 2024 in particular with the next Bitcoin halving. But ofcourse I am still hoping that there will be alternative trends to make profit from despite of the market behavior which will afterwards have a positive effect in this industry just like with NFTs and P2Es in 2022. To answer the question, I think the market price would stabilize around $15k to $18k on the first quarter of this year.
2478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it be profitable for the business? on: January 02, 2023, 11:33:44 PM
Will be risky if their payment will be needed as your capital to continue your business. Ofcourse you'd have doubts or hesitation to use the accumulated funds if the market price is low because it could be an instant loss by doing so. Another point is whether your business is service or product based. If it is product based, you'd be force to circulate the funds but if it is service based, you may hold their payments as much as you can because it is only your hardwork which would be your capital. Therefore it is a matter of measuring the risks. Accepting this technology would promotefficiency with transactions but keep in mind that it is business you are running and you must take extra caution to run it efficiently as well.
2479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My First Bitcoin on the New Year Day 2023. on: January 02, 2023, 02:30:45 PM
It would be always nice to invest than to use your money to buy things which are not necessary in our lives. Also, it takes courage for people to engage with risky market prices wherein or pehaps in this industry. For sure there are many people planning to do so given that market price at this moment is still low. But as I've mentioned; not all people has the courage to do the same thing. Problem is that many of those who desires of such thing are not making any effort to put their ideals into reality. They are either waiting for a lower market price or are simply having difficulties with their decisions toward their assets. Some people will be interested as well but not all people managed to invest because they more likely prefer alonger period of holding.
2480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you get a time machine now? on: January 02, 2023, 02:10:12 PM
For sure many people in this industry would say that they will buy Bitcoin when its market price is still low. But that's a time machine, I'd probably go to a bigger 'stage' such as buying a huge lot back in the 80's to put apartments on it. Why? It is a more assured asset I guess, given the scenario. Investing on this technology at the early rate won't remove the risk that volatility may create changes on its pattern unlike with real estate investments such as land ownership, it would be yours forever which makes me think it would be a better invesment if we'd have a chance to do so. But since that is a bit impossible at this century, a more secured asset would be more of a better option.
