Why do you disagree? Or do you agree  Shocked

I don't disagree you in fact, few days ago I pointed it out in one of my topic. By the way today is the first time I am posting in Ivory Tower. Yesterday I promoted to Full member. So, obviously I did not see you post.
How a feature can change the entire game of getting publicity: I am talking about BitcoinTalk signature space feature and idea of using it as signature campaign. I am a marketing guy, it helps me to identify strategies - specially marketing strategies.

Sometimes we need to deal with unpleasant stuffs for bigger cause. It just the way it is.
2482  Other / Ivory Tower / Blockchain and Data Protection laws: DNA identification? on: May 23, 2018, 01:10:18 AM
...My idea was that at the doors of the election center you would be required to submit that you will be voting today and including personal details such as name, address etc.

You would then be given a unique identifier which would then be sent when you submit your vote to confirm you've actually vote.

How about DNA identification?

I am pretty sure DNA is identical, not the same for two person. Which means we get a unique perimeter like combining name and DOB. Now if that's possible then forget about all these regular data like Name, DOB, Addresses (may be a nationality needed). Take DNA sample of people and give them a unique identifier against each DNA.

May be possible in the near future.

As long as it is the official search engine in TOR browser it is much better than google, no need to add anything else.

I used to think, this was a default search engine only for tor! Silly me LOL. I don't know why I did not like it in tor but after reading this post I tried to give it a go and searched for it. The extension came out and when I was going to add the extension - then this nice little message just sold me. I am gonna give it a go over google for few days.

The post was an eye opener for me.
2484  Other / Meta / Re: theymos, why are trust/merit pages not available to guests? on: May 22, 2018, 10:48:19 PM
How would you display trust to someone that is not logged in?
Fair point. But what of merit, then?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=465017   <=== This is OP's trust page URL
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=465017

As long as the u= is there, the data should be accessible for the specific user if the login session is not blocking it viewing in public.

Same applies for merits.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=465017
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=465017

Am I missing something?

Yeah... Log out and try those links.
There! You can't access them.
This is exactly what I am saying too. The data is not loading in public because the session variable is locking it. If they remove the session check for these pages (since we have the user IDs in the URL to pull the data for a given user) then anyone can see those pages without logging in. OP was asking for it if I understand it correct.

Seems like we will be able to see the merit history page in public, if theymos finally decides to implement it.

2487  Other / Meta / Re: Celebrating my 0 to 100+ merits and demonstrations of impact on: May 22, 2018, 06:31:23 PM
I am gonna ignore xtraelv and digaran types. The added section under the OP explains it better. It's ok not to waste the time in negative energy.

Thank you EVERYONE for all the good words and wishes. I really appreciate it.

I'm not sure why your focus was on those starting with 0 merit. There are many members who have built on their basic rank allotment, and have received a few hundred additional merits. If your focus was on new members with single accounts, then it would be interesting, but
I know there are like sncc said however, the motive behind creating the original topic is to inspire new members especially who are starting from 0 merit. I have full support for the members who started with even 10 to 1000 initial merits. I saw claims like "start from zero merit then you will see how hard it's to get merit."

Most of the low rank members (below Member or Member) thinks that higher rank members like Sr, Hero, Legendary receive merits easily and they don't. The  list of 0 to 100+ merits is a list to show them that they are completely wrong. Perhaps this could change their mindset. An example is already here in this topic.

I suspect that some in your list could be alts of established members.. That's just a guess, and I haven't done any investigation.
I actually did not have it in mind but isn't it a prove that getting merit is not how they (new members) look at it when they start from nothing?

I'm wondering how come you can create 800 posts in such a short time? I registered two weeks after you, and here I am only trolling on this forum. Your post count is just a hardcore tryhard, damn! But, your effort speaks for itself though. I guess I'd be more motivated. My goal is only 10 atm.
I do not have a day job to do or any active business that requires a lot of time. So mostly, all day I spend on the forum.  Grin
I am glad the topic gives you positive vibe. Hang on here and you will reach your goal sooner or later.

Is there really only 3 posters who have ranked up since the Merit system was introduced?
Are you meaning them? Nice joke btw  Smiley

Edit: Oh by the way, I think I just discovered xtraelv has been abusing the merit system. If DT members could check his merit summary you will see that he has been exchanging merit with user Lafu back and forth.

Edit 2: Well, I think OP beat me to it, I hope some DT members could check on this guy. Ref: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3168616.msg37797512#msg37797512
Thanks for the vouch @Qartersa

Alone055, atrocityx, Dilemmaremma - I have full respect on your views. In a community we won't always find people with same interest.

I thought to make a new post with a response to everyone so, I deleted the reserved space earlier.

Not a meta board topic mate  Smiley

You may need to move the topic to an appropriate board. May be in Beginners & Help (Bitcoin Forum > Other > Beginners & Help) or in Altcoin Discussion (Bitcoin Forum > Alternate cryptocurrencies > Altcoin Discussion)

I see you are a newbie. Perhaps you need a little assistance on how to find the move topic link.
Scroll down a bit, on the left hand side look for move topic link. Then follow the on screen instructions.

On the comment section you will find some uncomfortable comments like # # # etc (so far). I respect everyone's views but when it's showing anger, frustration from prior conflict of interests especially baseless accusations in most cases then it worth investigating before getting biased.

Here is a list of some members, I find annoying characters to me (just for me btw). They will try to bring everything (anything) they can with their baseless accusations (in my opinion, for you to make a conclusion - please investigate then justify). I try (will try) to avoid their negative inputs except they bring something good on the table.

1 Edited after seeing this claim. Before investigating this user's comments, please make sure to check the timestamps. He had no idea what was going on in BitcoinTalk earlier, especially merit system. He is learning new things since he opened the scam accusation thread against me - continuously adding excessive new contents on his old threads without keeping any log. This can cause confusions to the readers mind since my replies were based on his previous posts. He is doing this to ensure his ground looks very strong for someone who is new to this discussion. 2493  Other / Meta / 5 lists for merit earners: Initial merit drop to the next recognized rank on: May 22, 2018, 12:08:12 AM
Disclaimer
The original topic was about celebrating my achievement of earning 100+ merits (archive copy for reference) in the forum where I started from 0. Later it turned out to be a topic of few lists of merit earners (details below). For better understanding by the reader, I had to change the topic title and the contents. This is an ongoing project. The information are being verified manually. Feel free to inform me with the up to date information.

Abstract
In this topic I created 5 lists for merit earners categorized by their initial merit drop and required merits for the next recognized rank.
The motivation is to set an example/live reference for everyone, especially for new members who think earning merit is too difficult. They tends to blame the system rather than admitting their own problems. If these members can do make it to the next recognized level then they (new members) can do it too.

List Summary (Click on the individual list for details)
List of 0 to 100 and plus merit achievers
List of 10 to 100 and plus merit achievers: Coming soon...
List of 100 to 250 and plus merit achievers: Coming soon...
List of 250 to 500 and plus merit achievers: Coming soon...
List of 500 to 1000 and plus merit achievers: Coming soon...

2494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard to Get MERITS?? on: May 21, 2018, 09:40:46 PM
I have heard that is is very hard for people to rank up in here. How true is this?

I am not the best story teller but i am a very lovely person so i hope i meek multitude with a lot of kindness to offer
It's a bit difficult but not impossible. You need to create quality contents in order to receive merits (A point the you received from members).

'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

I suggest read the whole post not on the quoted post above.

Additionally, I would like to add this (below) too for you.
Well, since you are a newbie, I suggest you explore the forum for first few months.
Watch, read and engage. Improve your skills.
There are people including me learnt a lot (we are still learning) which we did not even have any clue! You can review one of my topic to see the things I have gained from BitcoinTalk and some others appreciations.
Self development and BitcoinTalk [Must read for new members]

2495  Other / Meta / Re: Not recieving password reset email on: May 21, 2018, 08:46:26 PM
Im trying to recover my old account and not recieving the password reset email. Ive checked spam, any ideas? Is there an email address for support?

First of all, it's a bad news.
Did you have a correct email for the forum at the time of registration?
Did you received any notification from the forum to your email account (if any notification was on)?

It could be for not giving a valid email. All you can do is hope and wait for the email to receive in the inbox or junk if you have provided a valid email address.

Try to figure out if you ever stacked your singed bitcoin address in the stake your bitcoin address here topic. You might need it pretty soon.

Good luck mate.

@mdayonliner first congratulations on ranking up...

Well I have been following you (reading your frequent entries in meta sections) and never saw you loosing cool like this in your last post.

I'm sure you know better how to handle the situation... would have been better if you answered the concerned parties individually.

See in your last post too many colors/fonts/bold/italic making it unreadable and people will miss your point.

Thanks mate, appreciate it.
You are doing well by the way. I am pretty sure, soon to see you rank up too. Keep up the good works.

I have changed the font size and all these unnecessary formatting. Looks much better now. It was the reflection of losing my mind LOL

I'm not discussing how general get/post requests work (and the other two main requests you can make).

Im suggesting looking at the URL to see that everything loads from the same page (index.php).
Sorry my bad. I lost focus somehow - looking at the URL, it's obvious that all the pages (except few special pages) are loading from index page.

I had some problems with "Decrypt an Encrypted Message," but will try to follow your method "I just wake up."
  - Excellent explanation and attractive design.
You can add some important PGP Signatures [theymos, ThomasV, Bitcoin core,.....etc.]"I have created a short list here"----------->Some of PGP public keys [you should import]

try to add this site to your tutorial ------> https://keybase.io "I noticed many people using it"

Hello hugeblack,

Will do mate. I am still working on this tutorial. After posting the topic I crushed last night. I just woke up now and noticed I became a Full Member. It's exciting and I am going to celebrate the happiness. I will add few more alternative ways for PGP using https://keybase.io and others soon.

Appreciate your feedback and thanks for the compliment. It took me long time to find a good banner for the top  Smiley

Update1
Added some example PGP Public Keys.

2500  Other / Meta / Re: Been over a month since my account was hacked. No reply from mods :( on: May 21, 2018, 06:49:15 PM
Seeing you post history of this account what I understand is, you have not yet sent any link of your signed bitcoin address of your hacked account.

And this ensures me that, you actually never singed any address and stacked it in the Stake your Bitcoin address here. In this case it will be very hard (almost impossible to prove) for you to recover your hacked account.

One tiny hope could be...
If anywhere you posted any BTC address from your hacked account then find it. Tell someone to quote it to secure the address so that the hacker can not remove it completely, also take an archive.is snapshot as well. Then find a way to sign that btc address and finally try to convince any mod or admin to recover your original account.

I sent cyprus mail on 4 april and theymos on 21 april but neither of them have responded..

cyprus? I remember hilariousandco hilariousetc was making fun of this few days or weeks ago. Are you the same guy?  Grin

Then contact either theymos or Cyprus cyrus with any info/proof you can, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Even accounts with valid signed messages aren't getting restored right now so the chance of them taking the time to look into this is very low. If you can sign a message with the address above you will have a much better chance.
