I haven't been practicing my drafting skills at all, I've just been too busy.  I expect it to be a bit harder to get high-scoring players with ten teams in the league, certainly harder than it was last year.  Even picking up players on waivers will be a bit more difficult, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  The difficulty will apply to all of us, so it may result in all of us being a bit more competitive, even if each of is scoring fewer points on average.  It could provide that ever elusive "parity" that the NFL is always striving for.

Yeah the wire becomes more amd more important with the addition of more teams.  It's a big part of fantasy football and we really didn't have to use it last year.

With that being said GIANTS on in 4 hours whoo hoo finally.  I know it's only preseason bit that eats the season is back.  Hate nfl offseason seems like forever lol.
2482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 10, 2022, 08:40:28 PM
I joined a mock draft and it appears that a 10 man league is harder than the 8 man league we were playing last season. Has everyone been practicing?

To be honest I just like to use the force when doing the draft. I find its better to go by pure rankings of who's left rather than second guess them with my own personal tastes. Regardless, with covid and all the injuries, the last couple of years have proven that long-term success is more about ongoing team management.

You could get your Dream Team in the draft but when those guys get knocked out (for one reason or the other), it pays to be timely in finding a worthy replacement.

I agree, I find playing the wire is where all the fun is.

Yeah in an 8 man league vs a 12 or even 10 man league the wire is much more important.  The back end of your draft in more team leagues end up being hail Mary's that a couple don't pan out and need the wire to survive.  In an 8 man league I barely looked at the wire because my bench was almost as good as my starters so there isn't much of a need to continually drop and add players.

What have been your biggest blunders so far when it comes to cryptocurrency? We all know that how much volatile the industry is. And the things that made you regret your decision? Can you share your thoughts, guys?

Not continually buying in.  Cost averaging all the way through wouod have served me best.  I stopped buying in times where I shoukd have been piling in.  Buying high and sometimes selling low.  That is the biggest blunder.  That and the D3 bitmain miners.  Uhg.
2485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to gambling with money. on: August 10, 2022, 08:16:26 PM
The most popular suggestion you can get when trying to quit gambling especially when you are continuously loosing money is mostly that you should just stop gambling itself. This sounds like an almost impossible task for many who are already hooked to it and just hearing that alone is discouraging. A better suggestion and an alternative to quitting gambling completely is to start betting with fake money gambling apps. With FAKE MONEY GAMBLING APPS, you can continue gambling on the app even on live games, but with fake money. So in reality you can maintain the experience you derive from gambling and not loose any money except the fake one in the process.

Although the original idea behind the creation of such apps was to provide a platform were individuals can practice their betting skills without loosing money before actually gambling with real money, i still find it useful to those trying to quit because they keep loosing money.

In Order of user rating and for suggestion sake, some of the best fake money gambling apps according to user experience, core functionality & innovative solution are (please note that some of these apps still offer real gambling services, and if you really want to stop loosing money, you should avoid)

What is your opinion on Fake money gambling apps, do you recognize the potential I think they have to assist in reducing the number of gamblers who loose real money?

It doesn't simulate a real bet.  The anxiousness is what people love funny enough.  And with nothing on the line you don't get that other than the feeling of, oh yep I was right.  Second with no money on the line you make bets you normally wouldn't with real money.  Like crazy parlays, that might actually hit.  Then you feel terrible because of the perceived lost opportunity.  Fake betting is pointless.
2486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 10, 2022, 07:02:15 PM
I am getting off the trend for now. It's too painful to hear more.

I just realized this team can be lethal when healthy.

From an offensive team years ago to a mixed type of players.
Jerami Grant can work both offense and defense and GPII can help out. Dame could focus on his offensive attack and save his energy on the defensive end if he will let GPII guard whoever they are switching with him.
They have a veteran with Joe Ingles and young guys who showed great potential last season.
They might reach 7th or 8th next season and win the play-in tournament. (Healthy)

Agreed if they are healthy the whole year this team can do damage.  Big fan of Dame's game and root for the guy anytime they aren't playing the Knicks.  They never seem to have a healthy roster for the last 5 years.  Shame, Dame would be challenging for titles if they were.

I read an article recently about the GSW management interview regarding Draymond Green possible trade since GSW has a lot to handle in there plate while Green is demanding a max contractthat will last up to 10yrs. The management is considering Green age will not give them the best benefit later on if they allow his request. They are looking for potential trade with Aaron Gordon since Gordon is still young and has a lotof room for improvement. Is this unfair to Green once this trade proceed?
I believe 10 years on a contract is a long time for Draymond Green, despite him being an important player for the Warriors I don't know if that would be worth the risk, despite he is already 32 years old.

But weren't there rumors that Green would sign a 5-year contract with Warriors?

Teams aren't even allowed to offer contracts up to that length.  I don't know where they read that, but I would immediately stop reading that publication because they don't know what they are talking about.  The max contract you can extend someone is 5 years and in some cases only 4 years.
2488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 08, 2022, 07:23:56 PM
Nets will not be better if they force KD and Irving to stay, and if they are not getting good enough offers then they should accept whatever they can get. They traded Harden for Simmons, and that was a horrible trade as well, it was a shock to the whole world and Sixers were expected to be a championship contender team while Nets sucked. So long story short, if they can make that kind of deal, then they could get some other method as well.

Westbrook is a big trouble for Lakers and they couldn't find a way to get rid of him, so what Nets could do is give them Irving if Lebron is fine with it, and get some picks or smaller players with him as well to make it work. Suns and Durant is a big question, I still don't know how that could be done.

Why would the Nets trade Irving straight up for Westbrook.  At this point in theor careers Irving is way better than Westbrook.  Rolling out there with Irving and Durant is theor best option if they aren't getting tons of youth and draft picks back for either of them.  In no world would they straight up trade Irving for russ.
2489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So we've gone from 1 meme coin to one hundred now ? on: August 08, 2022, 07:18:47 PM
Not just shiba, but there's a dozen different others I think.
I tried a couple of them, just to see how they behave in this bear market.
To my surprise one of them was 20% in profit last time I checked ( after about a month ) the other one $50 in profit after one day. Not bad !  Grin
But to be honest I don't think I would put any money on Doge or Shiba... they're already far too high in the rankings.. way... way higher than they deserve. The best gains are made when your meme coin is ranked #800 or somewhere around there

Just consider yourself lucky.  Any meme coins ranked 800 or below are most likely just scams and you will lose all your money.  Just because 2 that you picked went up (in the short term) doesn't mean this is the smartest strategy.  If you gamble with too many of them you eventually lose your whole stack.

With PoS coming and Gas fee finally getting fixed do you think that Ethereum is capable of overtaking bitcoin? Oh also there will be max supply for Ethereum finally too, or is this expectation of mine way too high.

I think in tes of how high eth could gain on bitcoin we already saw that high.  Next bullrun I think bitcoin lengthens the bitcoin dominance number.  Too many real competitors for eth now, when in the past there wasn't any good viable ones.
2491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: taking out a loan for a sports bet (UPDATE) + fixed match on: August 08, 2022, 07:15:17 PM
Hi everyone, about a month ago I made a post about having insider info for a soccer match and I asked the community what the best way was to take out a large loan. I had a lot of people advise me not to do so, so I took your advice and didn't take out a loan, instead I just placed the amount I already had in my account.

Anyway, the bet won easily so I couldn't help but feel like I should've taken out the loan... Sad

I wanted to share a match on here in case anyone wants to follow along, I'm unable to place a large bet on this so I'm hoping someone else takes advantage. I hope this isn't against any community guidelines.

It won, but what would have happened if it didn't come through?  You would completely screw your entire life up over one bet.  Taking loans out to even invest is not the best advise, so of course people would guard against telling you to take that loan out.  Even if you think you know the outcome and what it might be, there's always the other side in which it doesn't happen.  Just be happy you won some money.
2492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Running household expenses with gambling on: August 08, 2022, 07:11:16 PM
Is it possible that we can run our household expenses with gambling ?

I am asking for those people who don't have any skill or job ?

If you are reliant on gambling strictly to pay for your bills you are looking for trouble.  It can certainly supplement a steady income.  But if you have a bad string of months you will end up kicked out before you can catch up on bills.  Maybe as a stop gap in between jobs but I can't see someone gbling for a profession successfully for very long.
2493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 08, 2022, 07:08:57 PM
An interesting article about how no other teams want to help the Brooklyn Nets get a deal done for Durant.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/nba-rumors-rival-teams-are-blocking-a-kevin-durant-trade/ar-AA10nxcZ?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=e987a0c3796540f3e04dcd0db624c9ee

I don't blame them I guess.  Owners seem to be pushing back against players trying to call the shots and other franchises have to love the way the KD/Kyrie experiment blew up in the Nets' face.  Still, I'd like to see Durant in Phoenix and Kyrie in Los Angeles if for nothing else than I think that is the most entertaining outcome of this offseason.  I do think Durant will get traded at some point, but it may take a Black Swan Event during the season.
Yeah, it's real. Offer after an offer is coming but the Nets also don't like what they are putting on the table. The other team who deals with them will not go beyond what the Nets want. If they don't want the deal then it's just okay. This is why it is taking so long before the drama ends.
There's a solution though if the Nets really want it bad to let Durant go. Just accept what is given and move on. They won't have any better season if the management and the player wouldn't be on the same page.
Maybe it's time to do it like what Jazz had been focusing on, rebuilding.
These are really good points. I genuinely didn't consider this trade business from the owners' side actually. They are right. Players are starting to call the shots more than ever before and the biggest player whı does this is probably Durant. Also Kyrie and James Harden are close second in my opinion. It is very questionable how successful can Nets be this season. Especially after this drama and they already have problems from last year. Maybe rebuilding can really be the answer for them. At least they have to solve the problem of Durant definitely. They can't possibly be in a good position after all this drama.

If the Nets get a full year out of kyrie and Durant, along with having Seth outside cam Thomas who can build on a promising rookie year.  Combine that if Ben Simmons can give them anything, don't kid yourself this team will be a tough out for anyone.  If no one moves this isn't rebuilding they will be one of the favorites to make it to the finals.
2494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Will Not Devalue To Zero on: August 08, 2022, 04:00:12 PM
With all the recent FUD being created against ETH. I am in conclusion that ETH will not dissolve down to zero value ever.
As it has been around for some time and has survived many times over when other crypto projects have come and gone.

Sure with the forking coming up, there will be some change. However ETH will always have a value/ just right now the price is down, but it only means good time to buy in and get more.

What are your thoughts on this?

Do you think ETH Will be around for a long time? or do you think it will go down to zero ?

Tell me your thoughts and why?

I hate to say they never will fall to zero.  All it takes is one massive exploit like luna saw to get dropped to basically nothing.  I'd say it's very unlikely yes but I wouldn't never say never when talking about crypto and future price outlooks.

Bear market is here but new NFT/Metaverse projects are raising millions of funds, I think this is not bad news for the future of crypto and the next bull market might even be bigger than what we've seen before, what do you think? Are you excited for the future of crypto.
Sacramento.

Yeah the fact that millions are still being raised in times like these do fare well for future bull runs.  I'd like to think people hold until they squeeze out a profit so if all fund raising levels flattened or dropped I'd be worried.  Good times ahead I think.
2496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 08, 2022, 03:55:53 PM
Free agent forward Kent Bazemore has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings. Seems like the Pacific division runs through Kent Bazemore haha. The Kings run deep enough that Bazemore probably only gets garbage time in inconsequential games. Could be a helpful guy to have on the bench though.

He already passed his prime, his last season with the Lakers is not good, he only averages 3.4 pts with only 14 minutes per game. He is good defensively though, but since he passed his prime, we cannot expect a big contribution anymore.

He might not have showcased on what's left with his full capabilities with the Lakers, but yeah he's past his prime and I don't know what the Kings saw in him. He might've still something to offer either offensive or defensively that compliments with their current roster.
However, I don't really believed my own theory, when you know they've had no playoff appearances from the last 16 years. You know how bad it is lol.

Honestly it seems like an odd spot for Kent bazemore.  As a vet you'd figure he doesn't want to be on a team rebuilding.  I mean I guess if it's the only team that wants to pick him up I'd go but there is still time in the process, wonder why he chose sacramento.

Many people obey their girl friends more than anyone else.

What if their girl friend insists you to stop gambling  Huh Will you Stop  Tongue

Someone popped up in the collectibles board once selling a cryptocurrency coin, and saying they were doing so because their girlfriend didn’t like the fact that he was “in to bitcoin/cryptocurrency”. We all told him he should get rid of her lol. That’s a bit different of a situation though. If the girlfriend doesn’t like the gambling because of it being a problem, then I understand, but if not, she likely needs to mind her own business.

I remember that yeah that was a "you need to leave her" moment lol.  What a terrible idea it is not to dive into crypto but gambling I can see some cases where your girl wigs out.  Generally speaking if you are into something and your girl isn't and it's an important part of your life it just might not be the best situation to be in

It's an old thread but this market has been pretty consistently down or sideways.  Don't think the market will break out for a long time.  People still in the green and are still taking profits.  If I had to guess we going flat until at least the next bitcoin halving.

Depends not all stories are the same.  If you just lost your entire savings and she says to stop is way different than just meeting her and you play 50-100 dollars and she tells you to stop.  The first instance yeah if you wanted to stay with her then yep need to stop.  In the second instance nah, if you like playing every now and again maybe that chick ain't the right one for you.

I too hope that we see Howard playing a role on a contender again.  I doubt he's going to be back to the Lakers though.  I don't see the Nets signing him just to trade him either.  The recent reports seem to suggest that the Lakers are going to trade Westbrook for Jordan Clarkson & Pat Beverly, with Donovan Mitchell going to the Knicks.  I think Jordan Clarkson is a good player but I'm not sure if he's a starter on the Lakers.  Maybe...  Pat Beverly seems like he's about done in the league too, but this shows how desperate the Lakers are to get out from under Westbrook's contract.
Here is the detailed possible trade.
Quote
The proposed three-team trade scenario included Westbrook going to Utah and getting bought out. Utah would send Donovan Mitchell to the Knicks, a combination of two players, including Patrick Beverley and Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic or Malik Beasley to the Lakers, and the Jazz would receive significant draft pick compensation from the Knicks and Lakers. The Knicks also would’ve had to part with veteran salary filler(s), such as Derrick Rose to help make the salaries work.

The Lakers also have had interest in trading for Knicks forward Cam Reddish, who could also become part of a trade. Last season, the Lakers nearly acquired Reddish as part of a blockbuster three-team trade talks between the Lakers, Knicks and Raptors at the time.
https://nba.nbcsports.com/2022/08/05/report-lakers-knicks-jazz-talked-massive-westbrook-mitchell-trade/
"Significant Draft pick compensation"
This is going to hurt them in the future while Jazz is on the move to rebuilding.
What could Danny Ainge be thinking? Sacrificing the queen and knights for a checkmate? Could the aim be a small ball roster as recent top contenders and even the champion are mostly playing fast type?
I guess they are done with centers being their focus as they only have 1 left in their roster and that's Azubuike.

Yeah ainge is looking for 6 draft picks.  Knicks accumulated a bunch of picks and dont think Mitchell puts them over the hill.  Capping them out with salary and no picks to trade for the rest of the decade will keep Knicks mid.  They need to keep drafting and hope they hit a star along the way.  Or a bunch of really good players like memphis.
