Gambling is for the strong and sturdy.
I got this caption based on what happened when I visited an old friend of mine as it's been long since we saw, and so, after a little time out together with random discussions I discovered a sudden change in his mood while we're still chatting. With a steady look on his phone in his hands for about a minute or more as he scrolled up and down the phone screen repeatedly he shrouded his shoulders with a simultaneous regrettable look all over his face.
I took the phone from him only to learn that my friend has been calculating the whole series of losses he has made from all the bets he has placed from one of the gambling site he patronize. He had made a multiples of losses in almost all the games he had placed bet on  right from the start of this year, even to the current bet of that very day.

But then he asked me' bro assuming I had gathered all these money I have lost through gambling and channeled it into some sort of a little business or project, wouldn't it have been better!  At that moment I never knew the exact word to give to him as I never expected such deep a question, for the least I replied him was "hmm I can't really say".

With this, I wondered if other person's here in the forum that are into gambling too has at any point in time thought or felt that way, particularly when the losses are becoming overwhelming. And in that case, should such person stop gambling and rather divert such monies into something else since he/she ain't making corresponding wins or more, checking his bet history, Or he should carry on with hopes that winnings will start creeping in someday gradually?

I don't think there really is any argument that your friend should divert theor money into something more positive.  Investing into something is way better than spending all your money on gambling.  Gambling should be a fun activity and really bet what you can afford to lose.  It sounds like your buddy has an issue.  I hope the best for him.

Quick question do we need to be in before the Tuesday play in games or does this touny start when they are down to 64 on Thursday at 12pm est?  I've been in pools where they count the playin and then some that wait.  I will set mine up after the brackets have been set tomorrow night.  Best couple weeks of basketball incoming!!

I think Phoenix is still the team to beat though if KD can stay healthy.  Crazy how injuries have become such a major role in today's NBA.

It makes me wonder why some franchise still settle for old veterans who are more prone to injures for potential players with more than 4-5 years experience in the league with great shape and very healthy, If KD comes back at some point in the regular season, I really don't know how much the Suns can rely on him to remain healthy for the post season, but guys Mikael Bridges and Cameron Johnson are no where near KD, but the big question mark is if he's healthy, meanwhile Bridges and Cam Johnson have been significant for Nets since they joined, the results might not have looked great but these are guys that you can build the future of a franchise around, I wonder what would have been of the warriors in the past decade without Steph and Klay to build a team pieces around.

I get your point but kd brings you from a contender to a championship level team for the Suns.  Bridges is a nice piece but he is more suited as a 3rd guy on a championship team.  He wasn't going to move the needle for them and the window is closing for the Suns with cp3.  It was the right move for the Suns even if it doesn't pan out.  Every gm makes that deal.

Now the streak of Jokic is over as the Spurs made an upset and won against the top seeded Nuggets. 2nd to the last seed won against the top seed? That's more upsetting than Hornets beating the Knicks on the road. First they lost against the Bulls on their home, and now they lost on the road against the Spurs. I have nothing to say, but just an upset.
Jokic had a triple double on this game, but since he lost, his streak of winning every game when he got a triple-double has ended now.
Anything can happen, though. Although the Denver Nuggets are a good team, the Spurs are a team that knows how to win. They have a winning culture under Coach Gregg Popovich but only lack talent because they are composed of young guns who, at the same time, play hard.

They may have a very bad record now, but as I said, they know how to win, and upsets are normal in sports.
It's just sad that the media are trying to hype a good team, which means an underdog team is underrated.

Embiid again came as the savior of the Philadelphia 76ers. Simons did well for the trailblazers. But yes it is true that the trailblazers actually choked. They actually should have had it in the bag. But they could not hold on to their nerves in the end. This match could have gone either way. Credit to the Philadelphia 76ers for being able to clutch the moment.

Spurs won against Denver Nuggets. This was honestly an upset. Of course, the team was underrated by a lot of people. And the media was also trying to hype up the better team. The match was actually a good one for Spurs. They had an overall good performance.

Definitely the Spurs game was the surise of the night.  I had them at +13 I didn't think they would win but they did.  I'm trying to find what the money line would have paid had to be huge.  Road team favored by double digits rarely ever works out.  I'm sure the Spurs fans wouldn't mind them losing more though

I would be interested in this. How many participants do you feel we need for a minimum number here? 4? This year I expect to see alot of upsets in the 1st round as noone is really dominating the NCAA currently.

Awesome! I know we could get Wheelz involved. Maybe Hhampuz. So 3 for sure. I’d say 4 would make it still fun. I imagine between us 3 we can drum up at least 1-2 more people each.  Y

Yeah that’s what I love about this year, Kentucky or N Carolina not just absolutely dominating. I expect a good amount of upsets as well. I don’t know if my school will make the tourney but I get up an Illini fan, hoping for them to make a decent run.
When do you think you'll have all the details? We would Need to make our accounts and picks shortly after selection Sunday on March 14th. Games start on 16th(not sure if the 1st 4 are on the bracket, if they are then games start 14th).

Apologies, my dog passed a few days ago so I've been pretty out of it.  I will get this set up by this weekend.
Sorry to hear this. You don't have to set it up if you do not feel like it. There is a bracket in games and rounds put up by betcoin.ag. Of course if you are going to set it up I will still participate as will others hopefully. You might create a thread in Games & rounds to garner interest and update with links to yahoo when created. Let me know and sorry to hear about your dog.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. It’s been rough on me to say the least.

Still happy to get this up and running. I’ve got word from 2 other forum members who are in which would make 4 of us. Im confident Wheelz1200 will be game for it, making 5. Surely we could get a few others with a post in rounds and games. Will continue to try and garner more people as well.

First off dude I'm really sorry about your dog.  Mine is like one of my kids, pain in the ass but would do anything for them.  Tough go man, my sympathy for you.

With the tourney yeah man I'm in, best "playoffs" of any major sport ever.  If someone hasn't watched you should!  I usually take off for the first weekend just to watch 12 straight house of college ball, wife loves that weekend lol.

Count me in and possibly 1 or 2 others for family and one of my friends.  Let me know what I need to do.

I've been away for a while, but I'm active again!

I confess, I'm a surprised by the result of some games and that's a fact, day after day the games are very competitive and several teams want a seed in the playoffs.

It's incredible, the performance of the Lakers in these last few games, literally AD is carrying the team on its back!
I have no doubt that he could be the go-to player for the Lakers when LJ is absent.

Lately I'm betting a little bit, because I'm having difficulty to "hit" some bets.

Agreed this year has probably been my worst year in terms of day to day.  I'm still weary on the Lakers.  I got dough against them most of the time they are constantly over bet just like the yankees in baseball (and I'm a yankees fan).  Just look at their nba championship odds, they are like 10th right now and might not even male the playoffs lol.  It's always an easy bet year in year out.
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which cryptocurrency do you prefer the most to accept payments in? on: March 10, 2023, 09:35:51 PM
There are more than 12000 cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, altcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, etherium and so on. We all have our favorite cryptocurrency. Among all of these, which cryptocurrency do you trust and prefer the most to accept payments? Share your thoughts about it.

Bitcoin and then any other coin I can easily liquidate into bitcoin.  Problem is microtramsactions.  In that case it's probably easier to move in litecoin amd then transfer over to bitcoin. Either way no matter what protocol you are using it's showing this little crypto experiment is working Smiley
1548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 10, 2023, 09:28:26 PM
I do have high hopes for the Suns. I believe they should be able to do it without Kevin Durant. At least they can get to the playoffs.

If only reaching the playoffs, I'm sure they can do it without Kevin Durant.

It's already proven that Booker, Ayton, and CP3 can bring the Suns to the playoffs even before without the help of any big superstar. But in the playoffs, they need Kevin Durant here to boost their offensive phase. It's also always a known habit by Chris Paul to choke at the playoffs and to cover that usual behavior of him every playoff, that's the time Booker needs something as consistent as Durant.

Chris Paul is not a known choker.  He has typically not been surrounded by players in his career that can go deep into the playoffs.  With the Suns it was much more than just him of why they haven't made it to the finals.  Just because someone never wins a championship doesn't mean they are a choker.

I can’t really say Shawn Kemp is relevant to today’s NBA but as a kid who used to watch him dunk over everyone back in the day I can say that I’m a little saddened by this news. It’s looking like he may be doing a decade or more in prison, as a result of the shooting, but the details are still somewhat unknown. However, having footage of him, pulling the trigger, isn’t going to do him any favors.

https://twitter.com/thenbacentral/status/1633801725105643522

Yeah, Shawn Kemp was a very athletic player in his prime. By the way, the article on the NBA site says he shot in self-defense because someone stole his stuff and shot at him. Also, it states that he has already been released from jail without charges. So even though the investigation is not over yet, I think Kemp can avoid serious consequences because of this shooting incident.

Yes, that is the good news, the it's self defense on his part as it was reported that he shot to retrieved what has been stolen from him, so he was released and no prison time.

Of course who will forget him as Supersonics, very athletic during his prime, unfortunately, just like the best players of the 90's him and Gary Payton will have to face Michael Jordan in that era and we all know that the GOAT is 6/6 in the finals.

As a young kid watching Kemp I won't ever forget him and the sonics.  Not to mention the countless amounts of Kemp rookies during the junk card era.  I haven't read too much into it but I hope it really was in self defense, too many people falling from the Graces after they leave the sport.  Just reminded me of Payton and how hard that team played.  Hated when the Knicks had to play them out west.
1551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin start rising up what coin is good for investing right now for short term on: March 09, 2023, 10:53:01 PM
I see that btc almost hit 25k$ this morning and i believe that if btc rise 25k$ most of the altcoins will also rise or follow btc trend, so i think this time will be the very best time to decide what altcoins can give us profit in short term investment if you have any suggestions please extend or let me know.

Be careful trying to buy alts off of bitcoins tail.  Most times they rise the same amount but your downside risk is much higher.  In this type of market you are better off just buying bitcoin.  Or if you are going to buy altcoins don't buy them for short term gains, you will lose that battle.  We still have a long way to go before any sort of bull run assembles.

1-3 are basically the same.  If something sounds too rediculous or too good to be true it typically is.  If anything promises a crazy return it's 100% a pyramid scheme.  Funny thing is most people who put theor money in know it is but are too greedy to just sit on the sidelines.  This makes these projects viable and we will forever be in the circle of pyramid schemes.
1553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports arbitrage on: March 09, 2023, 10:48:16 PM
Sports arbitrage is basically when you make profit from matches regardless of the outcome of those matches just by taking advantage of odd difference between book makers. Odd difference on the other hand occur as a result of error in setting the odds by the bookmakers.

Real hard to get anything real from arbitrage.  You can spend all day bouncing from sports games, to sites ,etc.  I don't think it's worth the squeeze.  Back in the day it was a little easier, with all the tracking software by the time there is an opportunity people have already grabbed it and it levels out.
1554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 09, 2023, 08:53:50 PM
What do you all think about the Warriors vs. Memphis game tomorrow?

Both teams are on a losing streak, and Morant is still not going to play due to an indefinite suspension. Therefore, I believe the Warriors have the edge to win the game. Although these two teams are rivals and love to play against each other, the Grizzlies missing their best player is a significant disadvantage in my opinion.

Therefore, I would bet on GSW -2.5

The Golden State Warriors got more edge in this game because their main line-up is healthy and alive especially the Big Three, Wiggins and GP2 might not play in the game as of now but they can still manage against the Grizzlies who are missing a lot of their key players especially in their defense capabilities as well as their offense as Clarke and Adams are still ruled out. GSW -2.5 is reasonable enough.

As a matter of fact, I got them on my list for the games later.
Warriors -2.5 vs Grizzlies
Kings -2 vs Knicks
Hornets -3.5 vs Pistons

I'm leaning the other way.  GS stink on the road.  Gonna take the Grizzlies-2.5  at home and taking knicks +2 on the road.  They are one of the best road teams this year think this matchup works well.

Then I like 2 other home teams.  Give me orlando -3 at home tonight.

And last gimme the Bucks -9.5 against the Nets.  My darkhorse to dropped completely out of even the playin!
1555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 09, 2023, 08:38:34 PM
snip
the good thing about him is that when he does play, he still delivers his usual production.

Because he is actually being able to perform well whenever he is eventually being able to play, I believe that they should give him enough rest so that when he is able to play, he is performing great. Now if they do not give him proper rest, he is going to be more injured and he will also not be able to perform well when he is playing. Now if this is unacceptable for the team, and they want to replace him, it is totally understandable. But if they want to have him, they will have to make some sacrifices.

The Suns have the liberty to give Durant more rest since they are in the top 4 in the Western Conference, which means their playoff spot is relatively secure at the moment. In fact, the Suns only struggled when Booker was injured and out for a while. Now that he is back, they will be able to continue on their winning path while Durant waits to deliver big-time come playoffs.

I think they were hoping to get a good flow going.  Everyone knows they were gonna male it in it was merely how fluid will the team be if Durant jumps in kid playoffs.  Durant just can't stay on the floor.  Generational talent but does no good being the best guy who can't suit up.  Shame was looking forward to seeing them all together.  Just got a.little taste and poof, gone.

Welp there goes my giants off to a rocking start.  Signed Daniel Jones to a 4 year $160mil contract.  Really 125 think 35mil of it is incentive based.

The biggest part of that is it allowed them to franchise tag saquon, they can't tag both so they needed jones to sign cause his tag would have been massive.  Saquons was only 10mil.

Shoen killing it already 😀
1557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Bearish market the right time to buy coins? on: March 08, 2023, 10:50:55 PM
Of course it's the right time to buy.  As hard as it is would you rather buy low or buy when it's high.  Sounds simple but physiology between people amd money doesn't allow for this type of thinking.  Everyone wants to buy when things are rocking.  The old Warren buffet addage:

Buy when everyone is fearful (low)
Sell when people are greedy (high)

Pretty emotional scene at Pau Gasol’s jersey retiring ceremony. Plenty of tears in the house seeing Pau’s Jersey hanging next to Kobe’s. The picture of Pau looking up with tears in his eyes is enough to put a lump in anyone’s throat. I’m glad that their jerseys get to hang next to each other forever. They were great friends and it still shows.

I always envisioned kobe's jersey hanging alone.  He was a loner and his own person thought symbolically that would be cool, like no one comes close to kobe.

My favorite kobe/Pau moment of all time has to be in the Olympic semifinals US vs Spain.  If anyone has not scene the clip from the opening play where kobe absolutely annihilated Pau ypu have to see it.  Mamba in full force that day.
1559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wrong Bets !!! on: March 08, 2023, 10:45:48 PM
Today morning received the weeks payment. I had the payment of the previous week. Altogether it was around 0.0055 in the wallet. The first bet was planned to be 0.0005BTC. Instead of placing 0.0005BTC, I misplaced 0.005BTC and the bet was lost. This was completely unexpected and it is my fault. If the bet have won my wallet balance could've turned 0.007BTC, now it is an empty wallet.

Have any of you encountered such wrong bets and won/lost Huh

Happens all the time I bet.  Especially with bitcoin or any crypto using a lot of digits.  Tons of gambling and drinking alcohol too so even without all the digits people make silly mistakes when boozing.  I guess the odds would be slightly in the house's favor but I bet it evens itself out a lot.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and take 2 dogs at home

Miami +2 at home tough not taking them getting points here.

And give me the Pelicans+2 at home against Dallas.  I'm not buying Dallas, no flow so far on that team.

Then 2 favorites I like

Suns -13.5 taking Suns the rest of the season

And Nuggets-9 also riding the Nuggets here.

Good luck everyone!
