I hate people who apologize for derailing threads.

I hate people who... ahh... fuck it... Wink
2484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 05, 2013, 06:53:44 PM
Just because BFL are a terrible asic company to do business with doesn't mean we should pigeon hole every other BTC Asic company as the same.

I don't think anyone would disagree with this ASIC company comparison at all.

With regard to stereotyping in general, what can I say. Nobody is perfect. Our life experiences shape who we are. But yeah, a little bit of "foot-in-mouth" due to having a degree of respect for Bick. If you've never been rudely shrugged off by a Quebecois IN MONTREAL because you lack the ability to speak French, and they refuse to speak English, then, well, I guess I'm the asshole...

 Sorry for derailing this thread.

Does anyone know how to downclock the chips on the new boards? I don't have enough cooling apparently and my heat sinks won't arrive for another week. The chips just keep cycling, the high side of 575GH for my whole rig, and then down to 100GH, slowly, as the Hboards turn the chips off one by one.

What was your order # out of curiosity ?
2486  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 05, 2013, 04:19:54 PM
I am a Quebecois... nothing nice to say about me?
 Cry

If you are one of those fruits that turns their noses up to people who speak English, or if you are one of those people that wants to separate from the rest of Canada (even though Canada wants nothing to do with you, and would gladly show you the door) ... well, then I guess you're the first nice one I've met TBH.

I don't genuinely hate many things in this world. In no particular order; Scientology, Smug Atheists, Quebecois, Butterfly Labs / Josh Zerlan, Woman Beaters, Pedophiles, Rapists as examples, but yeah, don't like the Quebecois very much Sad

EDIT: WRT to dislike of Quebecois, I should qualify that as separatists, or other radicals who don't wish to interact-with or integrate with the English speaking populace. I recognize in retrospect, my usage of "Quebecois" was applied too broad and inaccurately. FWIW...

To heat the room in winter? I guess you missed the just concluded Avalon mini auction Wink

On a related note, I moved a Redhash unit into my garage over the weekend now that it's officially getting colder, and it heats up the garage to a nice 77-79 degrees while it's in the low to mid 60's outside.
2488  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 05, 2013, 03:51:28 AM

Well shit. Already arrived via Amazon.com. I figured it was reasonable. Possibly just barely huh ?

Think a full rig would cook that TX 850 ? (Probably should have just went with an AX 1200 like my gut was telling me to; was trying to save a few $$$)

2489  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 05, 2013, 03:34:10 AM
FWIW, I picked up a Corsair TX 850 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MYFODS/) to power a full rig.

Hope it's enough !
2490  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will a Sep/Oct KNC jupiter ever ROI? on: November 04, 2013, 09:09:39 PM
Wall draw is always higher than actual used energy due to inefficiencies of the power supplies. 700W draw for 400W used doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibility.
2491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 04, 2013, 05:32:49 PM
Speaking from experience, I really can't say anything nice about the Québécois.

Honestly, these guys and Butterfly Labs are meant for each other.

Birds of a feather, and so on and so forth...
2492  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: November 04, 2013, 03:11:13 PM
Edit: I can't believe CEX price is not going seriously down, it's only day and a half until difficulty change. What happened, why are people not selling in panic 2-3 days before diff change like before?
im confused abut this as well...

2493  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon auctioning their 55nm chips on: November 04, 2013, 07:44:33 AM
Is there any engineer able to make boards for these chips? Please PM me, I am considering buying a reel or two.

May I ask why you are considering purchasing these chips over the Bitfury offerings ?
2494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 03, 2013, 09:49:03 PM
we feel our timeline to begin shipments towards the end of the year is solid."

Respectfully, experience and history on these forums will clearly illustrate that the only thing that is solid, is the density of their bullshit.

Actually LOL builds on GTFO so it shouldn't be any worse (better in fact).

(I appreciate your naming conventions more than you know. re: LOL, WTF, GTFO... Very funny)

Cloud mining is also Nice too as a backup hedge and you could take your mining earnings and apply them to cloud mining so they yield their own derivative return.  The referral structure used in my signature alone has paid for itself over and over:
http://cex.io/informer-small/frankenmint/365babcb31d68e161da0cfd39d1ce609/

I was initially thinking of reinvesting mining profits as a form of Dividend Reinvestment, but it's just not profitable or reasonable at any price > GHS/0.08BTC

Constantly watching the market there, and can't rationalize it presently.

I'm convinced it's the influx of noobs there that has driven the price up to it's current levels; it's cheaper to buy hardware than GHS/BTC at cex.io.
2497  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 03, 2013, 02:17:01 PM
At least they are admitting shit can happen and throw things off.

So nothing has changed then over the last two years, is what you saying ?

... Waiting for Josh to stop by and pontificate about how Bitcoin works ...
2498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 03, 2013, 05:11:19 AM
Initially it was infuriating watching the bullshit fly out of his mouth, then it went to just plain pathetic and sad, and now it's just comedy gold watching him pontificate (as the forum poster so accurately noted) while failing yet again.

2499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 03, 2013, 05:03:16 AM
I received notification that all of my October orders have been shipped!  Happy camper here.  Smiley

OOH ! What order numbers and what sorta gear you gettin' ? Woot !

 Getting excited !

Con, humble request for the next version of CGMiner, specifically dealing with K16's - It would be super spiffy if we could get a --klondike-temp-cutoff parm or something to override the hard-coded 54.5C.

A couple of mine are running hotter than others, despite a ton of airflow, and often hit 55C and then cutoff until they drop back to 45C; would be nice to set higher thresholds for testing/troubleshooting without the need to recompile for Windows.

Also, that "KLNx:0 went idle before work was sent" spam is troubling.

 Cheers.
