By all mean this is an open forum. Unless you're trying to drum up more traffic to your business website.
I just want to know what his plans are for life after Butterfly Labs. I mean the dude wrote the book on career suicide in the internet age, so it's going to be quite the interesting case-study.

1582  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 13, 2014, 03:56:41 AM
Thank you for answering the question in your usual bloviating fashion.

No, I'm not insane, but many of us genuinely do worry about your mental well-being. Don't take my word for it. Search these forums yourself. Psychopathy, being the general community consensus of a diagnosis for you. Narcissistic personality disorder being the runner-up.

"The FPGAs were not their invention. They repackaged ones from another manufacturer and sold them as their own" - This is a factual statement no matter how you try to rationalize a rebuttal. Butterfly Labs repackaged Altera FPGA's into their own 800 MHs Bitforce Single products. At the time, customers (raises hand) were led to believe that their verbiage of "manufacturing a line of high speed encryption processors" suggested that they manufactured the FPGA silicon ("encryption processors")

http://web.archive.org/web/20120424005628/http://www.butterflylabs.com/

"Butterfly Labs manufactures a line of high speed encryption processors for use in research, telecommunication and security applications."

... is disingenuous (again, par for course at Butterfly Labs) as you did not manufacture the processors (by your own admission), but merely the software, controller, I/O, power supply and packaging. The encryption processor was manufactured by Altera.

"To suggest that anyone created their own FPGA chips that were anywhere near competitive (if it even happened at all?) is completely ludicrous" - So, it's a good thing you didn't manufacture the FPGA chips then and relied on Altera's instead, benefitting from their competitive nature - Something you guys had zero to do with beyond programming the chip.

But anyway, your petty jabs and insults aside, I hope you can forgive me laughing off your false bravado after everything that has come to light recently, your lies revealed for all the world to see, while you so desperately and pathetically try to maintain the charade of nobility and importance. I don't know what has happened in life to make you into this truly wretched creature that haunts our planet, and the sooner you and the rest of your Butterfly Labs grifting charlatans are removed from the general population and prosecuted to the furthest extent the law allows, the sooner everyone you have harmed can begin the healing process.

It's your epic douchebaggery and hubris that has landed you in the situation you and your cronies find yourselves in today. By far, you and Jody have been responsible for the worst customer experience of my lifetime (and hey, I'm not the only one... the FTC finally acted on the thousands of complaints)

Remember Josh. You brought this all on yourselves. Don't blame us for your faults, and don't blame us for your misinterpretation, ignorance, and dismissal of lawful ways of conducting business in this country, resulting in uscourts.mowd.117531.

Speaking of "process" and "ludicrous statements", I'll just leave this here again so our readers might be brought up to date.

1583  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 13, 2014, 02:01:12 AM
tl;dr: That's what I'm saying, so good. We understand each other. Every manufacturer, including Butterfly Labs, used off-the-shelf FPGA hardware for the initial generation.

To suggest that anyone created their own FPGA chips that were anywhere near competitive (if it even happened at all?) is completely ludicrous.  Every manufacturer used an off the shelf FPGA chip or they failed to produce a miner that was competitive.

Come on Josh. You're a smart guy. I shouldn't have to spell this out for you.

To be clear, I'm suggesting you did not design or have any involvement with the fabrication of the FPGA silicon (Altera EP3SL150F780) used in your 800MHs singles (as per your post below); I'm not discussing anything about the nature of chip performance whatsoever. Programming the Altera EP3SL150F780 for SHA256 hashing, building the PCB and enclosure - sure, that's part of the Butterfly Labs branding.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bitcoin-mining-make-money,3514-5.html

"In late 2011 and early 2012, innovative companies like Butterfly Labs, ZTEX in Germany, a grad student in China, and some individuals in the U.S. started offering FPGA-based mining devices. While most of these were based on the $100 Xilinx Spartan6-150 FPGA, the BFL design used an Altera FPGA, which the company sourced at a discounted price."

Very simple question. Is the statement above made in bolded text true or false ?

1584  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 13, 2014, 12:24:56 AM
As usual, you are wrong. The idea that the FPGAs singles were made by another company is laughable. Have you ever been right about anything?
We're discussing the FPGA chips, Josh. Not the Singles as a consumer product hashing @ 800MHs that were shipped out under the Butterfly Labs brand. Are you being intentionally obtuse ?

1585  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitFury BF3500/4500 Purchasing? on: October 12, 2014, 06:22:51 PM
I also think it is highly unlikely that a large number of consumer product will be available, as the whole bitcoin mining space is moving towards large farms.
And why do you say that farm products aren't also consumer products? As long as they maintain <3KW and 70dba, no reason why those two segments don't overlap.
To put a different perspective on things, over on this side of the pond, most consumers only have access to <1.4kW circuits in residences Sad

That's my measure of a consumer device; "Can it run on a single, standard North American residential 120V circuit" *grumbles*
1586  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 12, 2014, 05:56:56 PM
The FPGAs were not their invention. They repackaged ones from another manufacturer and sold them as their own. They were never genuine.
Discovered that after the fact :| I got what I paid for in a reasonable amount of time, drawing no suspicion then.

In retrospect, biggest mistake I've ever made as a consumer; becoming involved with Butterfly Labs.

I guess that's the very definition of a "confidence trick", huh ?
1587  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 12, 2014, 11:49:02 AM
Don't tell me I should feel sorry for these people. They knew they were being scammed. How could they not. It was everywhere I mean everywhere.
TBH, I ordered and received one of their 800MH/s FPGA's back in the day in fairly short order, not having done any research on Butterfly Labs at the time after seeing their presence on these forums. They released their SC line pre-order announcement fairly soon after I took delivery of my FPGA, so I had no reason to suspect any chicanery at the time, and ordered a couple 60GHs SC's, and then a couple more in April of 2013 right before the time they raised their prices across their entire line IIRC.

... and here we are today, having learned MANY lessons along the way.
1588  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 11, 2014, 09:46:20 PM
I have no conclusive scientific proof that it's helping but I have been able to operate my S3s with ambient temps up to 42C (107F) while clocked at 243.75M with no issues.  Alternatively, you can run the S3s on its side (controller in vertical position and adjacent to the heat sinks instead of on top of it) or perhaps even upside down (controller underneath the heat sinks).  I suggest to try these configurations out before you decide to RMA/replace the controller and see if it helps.  It couldn't hurt.
I have nothing beyond an anecdotal "gut feel", but over the last few hours since reading this post, rotating all my S3's so they are laying on their side (Bitmain logo facing up), they do seem to be running slightly more stably and cooler... Will continue monitoring.

Comedy gold!  You performed all of your ritual responses in one post, congrats on your hat trick.  Not only that, but you posted a stupid statement, then edited your post to show what an idiot you were... man, my work here is done. You are actually responding to your own posts at this point, heh.  Try to remember to breathe, we wouldn't want you to pass out from lack of oxygen or something, you need the few braincells you have left.
I'm clarifying my own posts so the information is accurate. Would have been nice if you didn't wait 6 months to change the "August 2013 Tapeout" verbiage on the Monarch page until Feb 2014, speaking of updating posts with accurate information. Maybe you wouldn't be in this predicament you presently find yourself in.

Wouldn't have to do this silly dance if you would just answer questions directly, instead of coming off as arrogantly dismissive.

*smootch honey*
1592  Other / Meta / Re: [Admins] Did you guys delete this post ? on: October 11, 2014, 12:09:08 AM
It was probably me. I vaguely remember deleting it because it was off topic.
Curious why you left his other vitriolic, OT posts up, all things considered.

Thanks for the clarification.
1593  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [12th Sept] on: October 10, 2014, 05:31:17 PM
if Josh ever finds out who we are...and goes on a some kinda deluded naked spree...trying to rub his oily body to yours in revenge ,,,,you will be first on his list...giving me and the rest of us here valuable time to prepare with full body rain coats and face shield from his 'ahem' deluded affections at that point...

Humorous thought, that; he might pull a "Jay and Silent Bob" national tour, armed with a handful of printed out disparaging comments, and start kicking the crap out his critics where they live.

*hugs and kisses honey*

Love seeing you fly off the handle with your lunatic ravings Smiley Keep it up !

Why would Josh's incendiary and arrogant post be deleted by a moderator or admin, and leave the rest of Josh's ravings up ?

Excellent, thanks for admitting it.  Now we can move on.  I have no reason to answer to you, a self professed liar.  You are scum and beneath my contempt.

PS: This popcorn is FUCKING TASTY ! Orville Redenbacher Hot-Air popped + Land-o-Lakes Salted Butter == Heaven !

PPS: Josh, you still didn't answer the direct question, merely dancing around it: "Did you delete the post in question, or not ? Why do you think a mod or admin would delete that one particular comment given your greatest hits here ?"

EDIT: Turns out grue stated he deleted the comment as it was off topic (?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) There we go. Mystery solved. *makes motions with hands of things going over his head*

1595  Other / Meta / Re: Was this post deleted by a moderator ? on: October 10, 2014, 12:03:12 PM
Ah, only the admins can discern that.
Is Theymos the only admin ?
1596  Other / Meta / Re: Was this post deleted by a moderator ? on: October 10, 2014, 11:46:26 AM
It will say whether a mod or the op removed it in the message you get informing you of the deletion, but that isn't a self-moderated thread any way.
To clarify, I'm not OP in this case.

As for being forums staff, do you have the ability to uncover how this comment disappeared ? Either by another moderator deleting the comment, or the OP himself ?
1597  Other / Meta / Re: Was this post deleted by a moderator ? on: October 10, 2014, 07:38:11 AM
This is what I'm trying to ascertain, as OP claims he did not delete the post. IOW, is OP lying about not deleting his post ?

I'm guessing that the OP of the post removed his own post. I don't see why a staff member would remove it.
1598  Other / Meta / Re: Was this post deleted by a moderator ? on: October 10, 2014, 06:42:28 AM
Well, if it's a self-moderated thread, the OP could of removed it.
The OP of the post could of removed it.
Or a staff member could of removed it. However, I doubt that a staff member removed it, but if a staff member did remove it, they might chip in eventually.
Not a self-moderated thread.

Trying to figure out the situation given;

Why would I delete that one post and not the others?  FFS, can you display your complete lack of critical thinking more blatantly? Can you stop and think for one second before you hit that reply button, or do you just post a stream of consciousness as it occurs to you?  Is it a compulsion?  I'm seriously trying to understand why your posts are filled with so much stupid on a regular basis.  Do you seriously not realize how idiotic you sound 99% of the time?
1599  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [12th Sept] on: October 10, 2014, 06:35:25 AM
Your posts are getting really boring since they all look alike. Please try to diversify. We got that you have word manipulating skills, but let's move on!
Yeah, it's so formulaic, predicable and boring now that I just stop reading after the first insult or ad hominem.

It's sad analyzing the psychology behind Josh and seeing his defense mechanisms starting to become more... unhinged.

There's no arguing with people like that. Just gotta sit back and shake your head in mock-sadness after taking in the show.

Crap. I'm out of popcorn...
1600  Other / Meta / [Admins] Did you guys delete this post ? on: October 10, 2014, 06:28:11 AM
EDIT: Topic updated after learning staff or moderators do not have access to this information.

Excellent, thanks for admitting it.  Now we can move on.  I have no reason to answer to you, a self professed liar.  You are scum and beneath my contempt.

It is no longer is visible, and wondering if it was Josh that deleted the comment, or a moderator / admin.

Josh claims it's idiotic to imply that he deleted the post, which implies that a mod or admin deleted the comment. Looking for confirmation on who removed the comment.

Thank you for any light you can shed on this.

Cheers.
