1.2TH for $999 ? Shipped to the USA ? Where do I sign ?
1682  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 27, 2014, 06:05:42 AM
Please, what would you suggest we set the queue, scan time and expiry to?
Again, do not touch scan time and expiry.
Giving you generic advice regarding the queue setting is difficult because this is not my driver...I'd be surprised if it really needs to be that high though, and on a low powered system there is rarely anything to gain from anything even in the hundreds, let alone thousands.
Thanks for this. Going to run one of my units with --queue 32 overnight and see how the stats look when I wake up.

The jury may still be out as to whether they are people
Are you suggesting they might, in fact, be meat popsicles ?

435 is acceptable, but i have several unit can only hash at 400G
I've found a need to down-clock some units to 212.5 from the default 218.75 in order to have them run stably. Anecdotes seem to point to a 30% underperformance rate for the initial batches.

The two units I have set at 212.5mhz have settled near 420GHs with all chips working.

You can try to make up for it by slightly overclocking your other performing-to-spec units to 225mhz to perform near 450GHs. This should theoretically be a safe overclock with only two PCIe connections.
1685  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: a few photos of how to make the s-3 beep less annoying. on: July 26, 2014, 10:56:48 AM
FWIW, the new S3 firmware makes the units completely silent via the menu option now.
1686  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 26, 2014, 07:04:11 AM
I'm not so sure anymore. Faster S3 is starting to slow and the "slower" unit is catching up in accepted shares. Also worth noting is that the S3s never receieved ANY rejected shares when running stock options. I have no idea what to do. I can't get either unit to stabilize over 430 for more than two hours.

I'm going back to stock options. The tweaks were, seemingly, not making any significant difference after two hours of observation.

Ever notice how the people who defend BFL have posts counts in the single digits?  Grin

It's sad because it's either

a) Sock-puppet / Shill
b) Newbie customer who doesn't know any better when dealing with Butterfly Labs
1688  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 26, 2014, 03:40:39 AM
I was able to get the discarded amount lowered as well as the load. I changed the queue to 0 from 4096 and added --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 to the cgminer file.
***IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT THIS MEANS DO NOT TRY AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT***
Thanks for this post ! Going to try this on one of my units and see how it works out.

Is the going rate still $1499 USD to purchase a 1TH miner for delivery ?

We are all whores. Every single one of us.
1691  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 25, 2014, 06:21:14 PM
FWIW, Flashed 6 S3's with the new firmware. No problems. No more beeping. No performance improvements to speak of.

1693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ntek 1.2th/s miner? on: July 24, 2014, 11:27:11 PM
That nTek has copied a different miner?
Yes. nTek's product looks like any other A1 clone floating around out there.
1694  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 11:22:29 PM
Haha, somebody is a little sensitive.
Not at all. Merely hoping to inject some levity and perspective.

Who might you suggest I patronize to receive ~2.6TH/s shipping out August 7th for cheaper than 3.39 BTC @ < 1W/GHs?
1695  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 11:18:16 PM
Each batch is a worse deal...
You are welcome to deal with Hashfast, Cointerra... or Butterfly Labs...

Nice to see Batch 4 sell out so quickly Smiley Picked up another 6 in Batch 5 Smiley
1697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 24, 2014, 05:34:50 PM
Bitmain are in top gear today.
It seems like they've been crunching hard on shipping out Batches 1 through 3, and are finally coming up for air.

Nice problems to have, and understandable. Onto Batch 4 and beyond...
1698  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 05:26:39 PM
On a related note, I'm moving my entire operation to a DC next month, and have the most tolerant and patient wife in the world.
Did this 6 months ago and glad I did.
Details anywhere? Thinking about this myself, since I had an army of S3's in batch 1, and just ordered an army more in batch 4.
Good old-fashioned Google web searching, making some phone calls, talking to some people, going out and getting tours of data centers.

Ask them, "I need x kWh of power with minimal internet bandwidth requirements. How can you accommodate my needs ?"
1699  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 11:17:47 AM
Our customer service guy will contact you.
Wow ! Thank you very much for the response. I was not expecting that, along with the personal email (No news on Batch 4, folks). I half-jokingly made that post, not expecting such a response.

<3

I have to ask though, do you keep them in your bedroom or what?
Honestly, I have three units on the other side of the wall outside our bedroom (Have most of my house circuits loaded with ~1000kW worth of mining hardware.) I've already modified the S3's by trying to cover up the speaker inside, but alas, they are still slightly audible whenever they do (seemingly) randomly beep.

On a related note, I'm moving my entire operation to a DC next month, and have the most tolerant and patient wife in the world.
1700  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 08:29:05 AM
I really wish Bitmain would make a post about Batch 4 and the reported issues we've had with the first three batches.

Not sure if I should take the refund or coupon. Performance is less than 7.7% difference on some units, it appears ~33.33% (3 repeating, of course...) of the units exhibit performance below the stated 441GH/s, and the random beeping... OH THE BEEPING... WHY GOD, WHY !?!???
