I was order #8 in batch 1. Received all 4 S3's today. Did some power measurements for those who might be curious. Kill-a-watt is showing power draw at the wall for two S3's as they come out of the box. https://i.imgur.com/W1NncC7.jpgWhat speed are they hashing at ? My Batch One order just landed in Anchorage. Should be delivered tomorrow Whee !

In fact, I am puzzled by the community's lack of interest about BP's career and connection.
Some of us publicly resigned from the foundation on their forums over this nomination.

Tracking number received for my Batch 1 order.
I was able to get confirmation from BitMain via email, that the S3's will be 441GH/s baseline for their entire production run.

There is that one photo of Goat sitting right next to Josh... not sure if serious So, the wild honey he initially sold to buy his VIP status wasn't really from Laos and Thailand? It would suck if that honey was just the product of a Missouri apiary, because of the premium paid for it.

Sidenote: BTC will make it to the general public mind when there will be either a Family guy OR South park episode(s) that would include bitcoin and, of course, some character's shenanigans around it...somebody should pitch the idea to McFarlane and/or Parker/Stone.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1paa2h/south_park_needs_to_do_an_episode_about_bitcoin/ Here's how I'd do the episode:
After watching Breaking Bad, Cartman realizes he can make ten million dollars by cooking meth. He recruits Kenny to help him, because Kenny is poor and poor people know how to cook meth.
After being told he can't buy 100 boxes of sudafed at the store, he tries to buy it off the internet, and learns the best place to do that is Silk Road. His transaction goes down smoothly and he and Kenny get their sudafed and cook meth. They try to begin to sell their meth, but Towelie can't afford to buy $30000 in meth, and they can't find anyone else to sell it to. So, they turn to the silk road again to sell their meth.
Cartman starts spending all this money he makes and flaunts his new found wealth, which makes him very popular around school. Kyle is obviously suspicious of this, so Kyle stalks Cartman and eventually breaks into his house (or maybe Kenny's trailer) and finds the meth lab.
Meanwhile, Cartman tries to go to the movies with his new-found friends, and attempts to pay for his ticket/snacks with bitcoin, only to be told by the theater attendant that they only accept cash, debit, and credit card. Cartman angrily storms off and decides he must get the US to change their official currency from USD to bitcoin.
Continuing to make meth, Cartman begins to bribe politicians and store owners with bitcoin. More and more places begin to start accepting bitcoin. Kyle, having enough of this nonsense, reports Cartman to the DEA, but Cartman bribes the DEA with bitcoin to let him continue.
After bitcoin becomes widely popular, congress prepares to vote on a law that will officially change the US's currency from USD to bitcoin. As one last attempt to stop Cartman, Kyle tries to stir up drama about bitcoin. Kyle convinces Ted Cruz (or some other celebrity) to publicly and strongly support bitcoin. Everyone hates Ted Cruz, so people immediately begin to dislike bitcoin. The law gets rejected and bitcoins fall from a price of $10,000 each to a negative value. Cartman gets pissed off at Kyle and Kenny dies after an explosion in their meth lab.

Sonny took care of that, you'd be surprised how "campaign contributions" can help in situations like this Now wouldn't that be a shocking story. "Butterfly Labs accused of bribing state and federal officials to avoid fraud prosecution" I mean, it would certainly explain how they've managed to refine their business practices over the last two years, allowing them to stay afloat. I need to think that such conspiracy theories are just that, however. Or possibly... I suppose a legitimately curious question, however, might be "Would Butterfly Labs have been able to survive to present day if it did not have an infusion of preorder funds, maintained by a refusal to issue refunds in a timely manner ?"

When we were doing the first mass production, we found that not all of the S3’s DC/DC module could be stable enough to support the 478GH/s speed. After long time testing, all of the S3 run stably at 441GH/s, which however is 7.7% less than the 478GH/s we have announced.
Is this likely to be resolved in future batches with upgraded DC/DC modules to attain the full 478GH/s ? What do you recommend the best way to go about safely and stably trying to attain a speed closer to 478GH/s with these initial batches ? Looking forward to seeing them ship !

Anyone one else a little concerned that Bitmaintech hasn't giving us an update on shipping or updated their support page with S3 info and firmware?
No.

They clearly had a "We accept Bitcoin" logo displayed underneath the Overstock lettering.

|
|
anyone know why they stopped sales If I were to hazard a guess, it might be to concentrate on manufacturing and shipping Batches 1 through 3 before accepting further sales.
|
|
|
Legit. I might recommend acquiring two S3's instead for lower power consumption.

I thought it was common knowledge that luke-jr was being employed by bfl for his involvement?
Point being, the statement from our favorite character is disingenuous at best.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.... Indeed. The PCBs currently in hand (there were several hundred of this revision made) cannot support speeds above ~550GH with "A" chips due to heat constraints
So instead of showing 550GH to their patient customers, it's a better idea to show 350 with a 10% error rate? Right. I'm calling BS on the 550 number, as there is no reason to publish pictures of a "Monarch hashing!" performing poorly if all it takes is 2 good chips off the shelf to show something approximating advertised performance. By all means the particular board being shown is a test board that is not going to be sold anyway. Who cares about all the bad boards, it only takes one to demo. Why publish only pics of a bad board if there was at least one board that once did 550? How else would anyone be able to claim they can do 550 if it was never done? More "theoretical performance" ? Bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit. Why push the board beyond it's limits just cause the chip can handle it? The increase in power to run the chips faster causes a greater current draw and therefore a higher W/GH rating. Why waste the extra electricity for a few extra GH?
The first part is funny, because the picture that was published shows a monarch that is already being run well beyond its limit. 9 percent HW errors + a bunch of rejects is evidence to that. So you were saying? The second part is erroneous because either way with two of those mythical A chips at least you could SHOW a Monarch working at reasonable speed with reasonable error rates, without pushing the PCB any harder. Better chips run higher clocks with less voltage. Right now BFL has shown nothing but a half broken product, half a year behind schedule. True to historical form I suppose. Many of the original boards got damaged from heat and are unusable, but I guess that's not a consideration for someone like you. This Rev N board came in today though: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/the-monarch-discussion/8558-whos-had-their-cloud-hashing-email-5.html#post83353*mumbles something about BFGMiner being used, as suspected*

Obviously you cannot appreciate the fact that I have never lied in response to a direct question.
No trolling. I hope you can appreciate we cannot appreciate that.
