As I understand, one (20) of 24 miners is partially dead? Can other owners share stats of their units? Is this normal?
How do we access those stats? (Do we even want to look? <gulp>)

cgminer API Log Tab will display those .

I think module 1 strip # 6 of my unit #445 is having issues Smiley

I will open it up and see whats up.

2502  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - 80 Ghash/sec Asic Miner [SCAM] on: May 01, 2013, 04:48:19 AM
i can confirm as well, a friends order that was COMPLETE SCAM.. tag em bag em..sellem to the butcher in the store

It has already been labeled a scam.

At this time nothing has changed that fact.

The only issue is that a customer supposedly got a box. He claimed it did not work however never spent any time showing photos or video of the "box of fans" he got.

SO

again.

This is a dead end.
2503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Company Claims to be Selling Bitcoin Mining ASIC Systems: www.asxproject.com on: April 29, 2013, 08:50:50 PM
Hello everyone,

We have become aware of the concerns in the bitcoin community and see it best fit to address the concerns here. The skepticism as to the images used is justified as the ASIC chip is indeed an example of a future product-part. We thought it would be possible to attain the required funds for our first batch delivery based on the information provided to create a solid client base for subsequent batch productions. This is clearly not the case.

We think that it is in our best interest to deliver prototype miner(s) to highly trusted member(s) to establish trust and confidence in our ability to produce and deliver the products. As we are confident we can. This will however delay the 'mass' production, which was initially intended to start as soon as possible. Our supplier has already shown the capability of producing the required hardware. Thus, we feel confident in our combined ability to reach set goals.

We will dedicate our time to update and provide additional information for the coming period. Tomorrow, we have an appointment with out supplier to discuss the cost and possibility of producing a smaller amount of ASIC modules for the purpose of providing prototypes.

We will keep you posted. Any suggestions regarding efforts from our side towards helping this project reach its potential are very welcome.

Regards,

ASX Project

Thank you for the update. The efforts you use to validate claims would be welcomed.

Avalon themselves posted even contract details on these forums to show that they have made the steps with valid manufacturers to develop their ASIC chips.
2504  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The new design of BFL Single on: April 28, 2013, 07:53:43 PM

So the short story is, in my eyes, as well as in the eyes of others....BFL fell apart, raised their prices, and will probably be impossible to buy their high end devices...let alone the lower end ones.

This is the type of story where you have a rolling turd that just keeps getting bigger and bigger down hill. At each step BFL has always been one issue after another. To examine that for the last 9 months and not come to a conclusion that it is a bad buy in more ways than one....

It would be a great products to buy (well not really anymore) if it actually worked, and they actually delivered...but it just doesn't materialize en masse.

Thanks for the story, a potential MiniRig purchase Shocked Shocked  Hope Josh could read this  Cheesy

Avalon has all the R&D people and manufacturer contacts in one place, BFL contracted out some part of their operation, an integrated  solution is always slower than a whole solution

But I really think it's good that they don't have MiniRig offering now, this product will kick the difficulty to moon and hurt almost everyone's profit, very bad  Tongue

I would cancel all mini rig orders if I were BFL. There is no way at 5watts/GHs that product will work unless you have 3 phase installed, or they get some wafers done with fabrication way smaller than 65nm. In either case it's back to the drawing board on that one. How much power can you pull from a typical US domestic power outlet?

Mini rigs are not for your typical miner Smiley
2505  Economy / Speculation / Re: Government banning bitcoin?? on: April 28, 2013, 05:59:56 PM
they can make it illegal though

they can also make the internet illegal

it would "stop" many bad things yup yup yup.

Sounds a bit familiar no?
2506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: April 28, 2013, 01:19:12 PM
Sitarow do not understand how you can have a 1000w consumption over a source of 800w  Huh

it is two Avalon units.

Unit 114
and
Unit 445

Each have their own power supply they are just plugged into 1 outlet. To demonstrate how many you can have operating on 1 15 amp 120v plug.
2507  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Company Claims to be Selling Bitcoin Mining ASIC Systems: www.asxproject.com on: April 28, 2013, 05:20:24 AM
It looked fairly professional at first. But anyone that uses Alibaba will know: Never trust anything from "Shenzhen"

From the website FAQ

I wonder if anyone that has ordered consider asking for a refund at this time...

Quote
What is your phone number and how can I talk to someone?
Currently, there is no customer service via telephone with a goal of cutting costs. You can e-mail us via our contact page or contact us on Facebook and Twitter.

Can I get a refund on my pre-order?
Certainly. Please feel free to contact us with and we will handle it. Do take into account that it can take several days before you have your funds back.  The amount refunded is the amount of bitcoins initially paid in the transaction.

What is the power consumption of the ASX (ASIC based) systems?
We are not currently releasing all specs for the systems, but power consumption will vary between 200-1000 watts depending on the amount of ASIC units added to the system.

What form of payment do your accept?
Bitcoin only. It is fast, easy and makes sense when we are selling bitcoin mining hardware.

Why do you use batch orders?
Firstly, to determine the interest in our project and to build a solid client base. Secondly, it enables us to stay on schedule and properly finance production.
2508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Company Claims to be Selling Bitcoin Mining ASIC Systems: www.asxproject.com on: April 28, 2013, 12:05:38 AM
The posted images don't help instill confidence. If the images that are presented are conceptual design then it would be nice to have that in the photo as a watermark disclaimer.

However it seems orders are being filled.

Also consider that they claim your pre-order money is being used to help fund the first 100 units.

2509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Company Claims to be Selling Bitcoin Mining ASIC Systems: www.asxproject.com on: April 27, 2013, 06:12:45 PM
probably, but still it seems possible that the chinese can remake or improve the ASIC modules produced by Avalon. There is no doubt that there are other companies able to join the market for bitcoin mining hardware besides Avalon and BFL (at least in the future). I hope this will be soon, because I missed out on the Avalon batches Sad

About
We are an online based company that specializes in ASIC-based bitcoin mining hardware. Since September 2012 we have been considering building an ASIC based system with the sole purpose of mining bitcoins.

In December 2012, we visited different chip manufacturing companies in and around Shenzhen, China. We have reached agreement with them to produce an ASIC module which we would then test on-site. Only one of the produced modules was tested. At the end of the testing phase, we accomplished the module to mine at ~28 GHash/s. The module contains 10×10 ASIC chips and a heat sink of 0.5″. We experienced excellent cooling performance in our prototype system.

During and after the testing phase we designed the ASX ASIC-based mining system, which was developed to hold up to six modules, and enables hash rates ranging from 25 GH/s to 150 GH/s.

Since the successful testing phase, we have been further scheduling the production and financing of our project. Currently, all planning has been completed. Therefore, we need to finance the production of ASIC modules to build our ASIC-based bitcoin mining products by receiving pre-orders from our clients. We have made an agreement with our supplier that requires the sale of 100 systems, minimum. The moment that we reach this target, production will start. As soon as production starts we expect to be able to deliver our first client within two to three weeks. Hence, shipping dates depend on when our target is reached.

Read more about the development of our system at http://asxproject.com/?feed=rss2.

They seem to be developing along in a "normal" timeline however without more evidence and community involvement it would be difficult to raise the first 100 orders in order to get this project first batch development in motion.

Will they be using Avalon chips?

Perhaps what this project needs is you to make your improvement observation located at this link post http://asxproject.com/?page_id=241

Sent a few emails with hopes to get more details on this project.

Betamax was a superior technology than VHS

Really?

Could record your shows longer? No.
Devices were cheaper? No.
Had more shows to watch? No.

Guess the only thing going for it was a few extra lines of resolution... Hmm.

4-6 hour TV recording won that battle with the common user.

If its easy to use and adopt,
If it is accepted "everywhere" for trade,
and if it serves a common need to the majority of prospective adopters.

Then it wins.

As far as bitcoin vs litecoin speculative value just remember that the customers adopters perspective becomes the reality.

Someone's droping coins like crazy, and this is not a sell-off from multiple people, this is a whale dropping coins systematically, he/she waits until it recovers a little, then drops, and so on...

its not form 1 guy, its 10,000 BOTS!

Next week harder to make btc and plan to have batch 1 , 2 and 3 Avalons to make 1 btc a day by July/Aug 2013.

2518  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: April 25, 2013, 11:59:48 AM
the time is between 3 and 8 s

I meant was your Avalon total up time for those submitted shares 70.5 hours or 2 Days 22 Hours 30 Minutes?

I could estimate based on known Avalon past performance at 32 difficulty.

I use that information to help see what your average per hour share acceptance is. This way we can see if higher difficulty is better on the Avalon units.

Note that having a higher difficulty will help put less stress on the pool and help you by lowering your network bandwidth usage.
2519  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: April 25, 2013, 11:49:34 AM

Here is the performance of Unit #114 before any upgrades.

Here is the performance of Unit #445 before upgrades

Unit #445 After 1 Hour Operation with out any upgrades

Unit #445 After 8 Hour 42M minutes Operation with only Power Supply Upgrades.

Note Unit #445 performance was a little better after power supply upgrade however it seemed short lived once it was upgraded to firmware 20130419.
2520  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: April 25, 2013, 11:32:29 AM
do you use worker min difficulty 32 ?
mine is set to 64  on btcguild   at the utility tab I have 15.5 and the tab difa 4198161
diffa is your accepted shares and credited at x1 difficulty by the pool.

How much time has past during the shares submitted?
