Hey guys, could anyone give advice on buying March delivery batch @9btcs in terms of whether its even considerable or should I move on?

If you're contemplating then look at this chart that I have kept up.

It compares available hardware vs possible network increase.

Included is an exponential network growth at 20% and 30%.

However as far as network difficulty forecast is concerned anything greater then 2 - 3 months out is highly speculative.

Make a copy for yourself and key in your own details and existing setup.

Here are the return results if the network increases an average of 20% every 12 days.
Or by end of March 4380085631 difficulty.

1511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 280X Buying Advice on: January 04, 2014, 01:51:12 PM
I'm looking at purchasing an R9 280X for mining. Any advice? Any cards I should look out for? Any to avoid?

Any advice would be much appreciated. I'd hate to make an impulse purchase and end up with a lousy hashrate. I plan to add one more in the near future also.

I am using 2 x Asus R9 280X and very happy with them. Get a hash rate of 720 Kh/s each and temp of 72%, not pushing it too hard and doesn't make too much noise. Using a 12 inch riser cable with it.

I am running msi/his/asus v1 and v2 280x

Asus performance for me is nice and is the card that I have used for the majority of my systems.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THOSE NEW TO BITCOIN OR BITCOIN MINING

Bitcoin is going to blow up in 2014, we all know that. So what better way to get involved than start mining it! Right?

Wrong, dead-on-arrival, dead as a doornail, reaper with scythe cackling over your rotting corpse wrong. If you intent to profit, that is.

How does bitcoin adoption by service retailers fit into that perspective?

"Social gaming giant Zynga has announced that it will be accepting bitcoin for in-app payments in selected games, as a “test” with payment processor BitPay. The move opens up $200m per quarter in potential markets for the digital currency.

The Zynga team account posted the following on reddit:

“The Bitcoin test is only available to Zynga.com players playing FarmVille 2, CastleVille, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille. The games can be accessed at http://zynga.com.

Zynga is always working to improve our customer experience by incorporating player feedback into our games. We look forward to hearing from our players about the Bitcoin test so we can continue in our efforts to provide the best possible gaming experience.”

Sources connected to BitPay and Zynga users quickly confirmed the announcement as true."

3 blocks in the last 10 shifts... what's happening?  I don't think I've ever seen luck this bad on BTCG.  Is there a technical glitch?   Huh

This is normal variance at play.

While technically variance is normal...this is more of the opposite of lottery-winning variance.  This is hit by a truck while witnessing your dog get struck by lightning variance.

Yes I agree Sad

Though it's not much of a competition when one side is producing a profit and the other is literally throwing money away.

Could you expand on this?

Are they not covering the 0% fee costs with the crazy GH's price and the fee's over at Cex.io?
Is it truly your belief, that they are not making money out of their whole scheme?

Are they not the same organization?
Is it known who the owners are?

Cex.io charges extremely high fees for "maintenance", and they also probably sell a lot of that hash rate into the order book since they definitely own more than what is on the book.  However, ghash.io also allows miners to point their own hardware at the pool at 0% fee.  They're the same company.  The "throwing money away argument" is based on that part.  They are spending time and money servicing external miners, and are not making a single cent off the time/money spent on those users.

The motivation perhaps could be linked to the demand for freshly mined coins.
Do you perhaps think that they have been commissioned to produce virgin coins?
Any blocks solved are kept by the pool and what is paid out to the miners are tainted coins?

If you're looking for something different, then follow the lead of those canucks.

Seems they have embraced the cold and are making their trucks out of ice.

1517  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: December 31, 2013, 11:29:41 AM
First samples of the CoinCraft A1 demonstrated working

The results are very good: at a very first stage of testing, without any kind of optimizations on the driver and the power supply, we got it hashing stable at the nominal hashing rate at 25.4 – 25.5 GH/s. The chip was running so cool that just a small heat sink above it (see pictures below) without any forced air cooling was enough to let it run!

The evaluation board was drawing 1.655A at 12V while hashing at a constant rate of 25.4 GH/s. If we consider about 15% of losses due to the DC/DC switching block, we get a net power consumption of just 0.67 W/GH/s and this without optimizations of any kind, which are due for the next days of development.

This is the lowest demonstrated nominal power consumption for an ASIC chip in the WORLD!!!

The next step is the assembly of the first prototype hashing units, which will be done in the next few days in our production factory in Europe, for the final tuning of the boards.

Congratulations on the successful development of your project.

I am looking forward to seeing the completed product in the hands of the community.
