2525  Other / Off-topic / Re: My Math Skills are Bad :( on: December 12, 2011, 09:28:10 PM
1 bitcoin or 100 bitcoin divided by .005?

1/0.005 = 200
100/0.005 = 20000

Crap, you got it right.  it is 1/0.005  not 100/0.005     so correct answer is = 200 chunks of bitcoins not 20,000 chunks of bitcoin.

Thanks K.

2531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a taxi today piad with VISA! on: December 12, 2011, 05:23:06 AM
A taxi driver could just have a QR code with an address laminated.  The passenger could send the minimum price at the beginning of the trip.  By the end, the driver can verify it on block explorer, and any extra time due to traffic can be paid for with bitcoin or settled in USD.  That's actually a good fit for bitcoin since the majority of the cost is known early on.

and if bitcoins goes up he could actually be ahead of the game.
2532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #Bitcoin as a promoted trend on Twitter on: December 11, 2011, 06:56:24 AM
One, we need Twitter to actually consider the request.

Why?  Just add #Bitcoin to the end of your tweets.

Probably the most effective way. In fact, we could have the Bitcoin Twitter hour where we all just pause for a moment and flood our timelines with stuff Smiley

Someone is threatening to meet someone over at his restaurant to say stuff to his face for BTC no less ?

I just want to point that that Leo was not at the 'Uncle Jacks Steakhouse' he claims to own on 9th Ave in Manhattan nor does he even own it. Furthermore, after making a post how his company has "No Complaints" the thread was full of complaints that he chose to ignore.

Cheers!

2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / It's Official: Trough Of Disillusionment is Upon Us on: December 09, 2011, 11:39:38 PM
The good news is it should be good times ahead from here on out but we'll see!

I say the "trough of disillusionment" is here  based on two forum posts I came across. Don't mean to open old wounds but just shows you how delirious everyone is! Someone is threatening to meet someone over at his restaurant to say stuff to his face for BTC no less ? To someone quiting the forum because of Mod's and people taking pot-shots at him  I think we've hit it officially....

If this isn't the trough of disillusionment then I don't know what is ? do you ?

2538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Questions and Answers on WeUseCoins.com on: December 08, 2011, 06:13:46 PM
Fellow Bitcoineers and Bitcoinettes,

We just removed the old Privacy & Security section on WeUseCoins and replaced it with a Q'n'A section powered by the Bitcoin StackExchange. Smiley

Check it out:

http://www.weusecoins.com/questions.php

If you have an account at Bitcoin StackExchange, please help by submitting and voting for interesting questions! Thanks!

We're very lazy community-oriented, so we thought this would be much more interesting and more engaging than a static FAQ section. Wink

2539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: San Francisco Occupiers Starting Own Credit Union on: December 07, 2011, 11:04:37 PM
Hi!

Not only them should start looking to Bitcoin but every community too.

For example, I think that each Solidarity Economy communities must have its own Bitcoin/Litecoin Mining Rig. So, instead of creating a "social coin", they will use Bitcoins!

Best!
Thiago

Thiago,

I really like your thinking. It's sort of a "self-sustainable" economy via the "social coin" very interesting idea.  Each community is its own Silo. Great suggestion!

Thanks!
