pre mine is a big no, but i don't care if it is POS or anything else as long as it can survive and its price goes up.

And if there is a premined coin with 1 millions users and growing faster than Bitcoin, then you are just going to let the train leave the station with you left behind because of your irrational bias?

Do you really think you can fork an inertia like that.

Could this bias be what prevents the very scenario you are talking about? I'm fairly certain there is a psychological term for it, but don't feel like looking it up when the example is right here.

I don't think so because speculators are followers not leaders. Adoption can lead speculation, not vice versa.

This assumes that everyone who is speculating is only thinking as (or for) speculators in their equation, some, if not most, might be using their own metrics for use to determine what to invest in--not a "what would someone else use" mindset, but a "what would I use" mindset. It is possible for people to be both user and speculator and simultaneously spur adoption and speculation.

But I don't think speculators make wise decisions as to how to invest for adoption, because they are not close enough to the technology and marketing. The creators are the leaders. That is why I have often said that I don't think open source can create/tap a new market.

I intend to prove that and say, "I told you so" to smooth, rpietila, and all the Monero crowd.

Open source is a refinement and shared investment in quality assurance mechanism, not a creative one.

My guess is you are talking about a coin that is premined, but doesn't suffer from the centralization of power that we've been raised to believe in the crypto universe is the enemy of all that is decentralized and good, correct? So now, if you invent it and that's the model you chose, you will have to convince early adopters that what they've been led to believe by everyone relevant in the community is not true for your coin, which is the exception to this "rule". I hope you see the chalenge you are building for yourself-- the early adopters are the ones who determine which turn the speculators take in the maze.

This, usually along with shoddy tech, is why premined coins can't get enough traction. You can educate, but ignoring the problem will only get you a bunch of stubborn speculators who can't see the limitations of their greed.

2544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Four Aces up Monero's sleeve. In 2016 we go to ludacrous speed & $5+ each on: February 14, 2016, 08:51:58 AM
If the price of Monero in bitcoin terms can be somewhere around 0.005, it is already very good. I hope that ratio can be kept long term.

The question is, how it can be pumped there.
The answear: by bidding it up there.

The next question is, how it is bidded there.
The trivial answear: by pouring money into Monero and bailing out the dumpers who eventually sell too early.

And why write that if you are confident  Roll Eyes

Obviously the only reason to write that is to try to manipulate the psychology of others and cause them to want to buy so you can dump some.

True confidence comes with silence and massive adoption and feature sets.

Donation funding model or not, BS walks and action talks.

Duh, look at his sig. He's not even trying to hide the fact that he wants to manipulate Monero up or down depending on his position. Annoying to read, but at least he isn't trying to hide his motives.
2545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 13, 2016, 10:26:16 PM
And yet another topic where we can see more rubbish and dirty talk about SDC and MONERO.
People do you really think you will succeed something if you attack each other?
Please stop with these madness!

Amen ... its getting a bit tiring to read.

I don't like boy bands, so I don't listen to them--seems to work. Pretty sure you can apply the same technique with threads you don't like.
2546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Ethereum Paradox on: February 13, 2016, 03:20:59 PM
What should the Ethereum team do now? Admit that they failed and call it quits, downgrade the feature list and try to continue, continue as if nothing happened and hope some divine intervention will solve the issues?

Maybe they can build a soda machine.

The project sheet is in GameDB/NPCC, it is not yet final though, will be soon! If you enjoy playing this game, please enroll! Smiley

This should be an interesting challenge and give some insight into the mass consumption side of the game, so count me in.

2548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 12, 2016, 08:44:38 PM
I don't see what's wrong with the topic title.  Based on what I can see, SDC is mathematically broken.  And I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero.

Nothing malicious or hateful about that.  Just an invitation to bring their talents over into our camp.
Keep telling yourself that. Ever seen the movie "Experimenter" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3726704/ ? The human mind can convince it's self that it's actions/decisions are justified in even the most transparent situations which from an outsider's perspective could easily be translated into malicious intent/complacency of malicious acts. It's on Netflix. Recommended viewing and applicable to you/your community's actions and high road justification to the PR blasts associated with your incorrect theory.

I would apply the same concept to your claim that it is an "incorrect" theory. Shen is hardly a slouch when it comes to cryptography, so if Shen uses math to show a flaw, you better be able to disprove his claim mathematically, not with rhetoric. Not sure why there is such a do or die mentality taken by XMR or SDC supporters; if Shen is correct, then the flaw can be fixed, SDC Devs should give him a bounty, and then go about fixing it--it won't destroy the coin the way a flaw in one of the 11 algos used in Dash could, but it will leave transactions before the fix traceable. Hardly end of the world stuff.
2549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 12, 2016, 04:20:21 PM
Nobody has been able to use the aforementioned "faulty code" to deanonymize an actual transaction.

Don't hold your breath.

The people who would want to de-anonymize a transaction aren't going to tell you about it or benefit from a few hundred dollars in bounty money--it's more a question of, "if this coin makes it to where governments or corporations are willing to spy on it, how well does it hold up to their methods for doing so?"
2550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 12, 2016, 02:58:57 PM
Personally, I think it's strange AP would try and convert SDC people over to XMR. People have brand loyalty and that's not something that can be glossed over with a few words and a welcome mat.  The majority of SDC pundits are smart and well-versed in what makes for a good privacy coin, so they'll most likely make informed decisions based on the pertinent information, not by pleas or words of discouragement.

As for the cryptography being broken, or faulty, here is the relevant conversation.

2551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: February 12, 2016, 08:55:35 AM
I have acquired the domain name:-

www.aeon.help

which we could perhaps use for the main website (or forum).

.help is a relatively new top-level domain - only about a year old. The vast majority of the many other single-worded aeon domains (that are credibly appropriate) have already been taken.

Given that ultimately a website (or forum) is indeed intended to help, it could be pretty useful and succinct for a community-based non-profit entity such as Aeon.

That is a good domain name. People in crypto area already used to .to .io and more. I think .help will work great for this purpose.

I think it is a great name for a help site, but wonder about its impact as a main address.
2552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Ethereum Paradox on: February 12, 2016, 08:46:32 AM
The funniest part is on the website how it's plastered literally everywhere how unsafe Ethereum is to use.  It's like they've already figured out it will inevitably fail and are trying to decrease the liability as much as possible:

Very convincing argument, r0ach!   Huh     <--- because sarcasm

At some point, even the True Believers of the Evan's Gate cult have to put down the Kool-aid and come out of the compound.

That point was almost two weeks ago!

There are entire, fully funded projects solely working on distributed storage. Then there are entire, fully funded projects working on social networking type applications. Then there are entire, fully funded projects working on API building.

Given that background, any self respecting investor is going to conclude that Dash has bitten off more than it can chew trying to do all this to a high technical standard with only 1 or 2 core developers. They will wonder where the efficiency gain is in development (i.e. what is it that those projects are doing that Dash doesn't need to do).

Dash  Cry

Sooooo, how many site accept Monero as a currency?(not counting a real physical monero coin) Can you buy it at all with fiat outside using another coin? Some simple questions. Easy to find answers for Dash. Hell even the Dash site looks better. Maybe find another coin to compete with. Lets face it. Dash  has many unique features not seen in other coins, but monero was taken from an experimental coin(that should have never been used as a base) and took how long to even get a decent-ish wallet going? I don't intend by any means to start a troll war but I really do have to question who is drinking the kool-aid...

Soooooo, how long does it take to mix using darksend? How many peer reviews has evolution had? Are there any plans to fix (replace) X11?

Really? You're gonna mention some bugs as an argument against higher adoption rate and more feasibility as a currency? I can go out today and buy products and services with Dash. What can Monero do? Oh right, buy me a physical Monero coin. Awesome, gonna get right on that one. But hey maybe i'll believe the year old hype that Dash is going to die tomorrow and buy Monero with it ok? Thanks for the great advice. Cheesy

X11 is more than a bug, but go on in your imaginary world of Dash mass acceptance. Last time I checked, I couldn't buy a happy meal with Dash. No one's there yet, so maybe I'll stick with a coin that doesn't take twenty hours to mix or have an algo with a fatal flaw--IE can't get there.

In the time it took for that witty comment Dash has been used in good and services purchases. Monero has moved from one lucky persons hands to a sucker. I don't think I really need to justify this trolling anymore do I? Good game though. According to the monero lovers predictions Dash died a year ago. Sucks to be me.

I'm guessing you are scared that the dash price can't stay above the .01 line, but I can buy plenty of things with Monero (like Peter Todd does) thanks to xmr.to and shapeshift and I can do so instantly and privately, unlike you die hard dashers who would rather pre-mix coins with a twenty plus hour mix in time than admit darksend is useless for the average person. I'm glad the Monero developers are making the tech work as advertised before marketing and official GUIs--rather than overpromising and under delivering like dash.

Game Announcement of Major Design & Development Milestones

The Countryside game will have its own post soon. If you have a county, and want to open it "in this batch", please do it right now by Thursday. Then the opportunity will close for some time to allow the others to develop more in unison and save my resources.

The Marquessate of Naoned has heeded this information and has sent a group of workers and protection to the county to start preparations!

The Margrave of Plath would also like to announce his intentions to open Plath.

If only there were a virus that could distribute itself when someone is trying to spy on you--it would be like a hot naked woman walking into a biker bar with a sign on her chest that reads "I had razor blades surgically implanted in all my orifices, wanna fuck?"

You have idle servers mining a currency that you publicly claim is worthless (and possibly by that claim, lower what it is worth), so you can buy less of a currency you desire--and I'm the idiot  Grin

I hope I piss off a bag-holder whale who then pumps this shit to 0.004 so i can exit. Worked before...

And your plan is to tell them that's your plan?

It has to happen, XMR is dead, they better do it now than later when it drops to 0.0005...

And you aren't using your claimed resources to short XMR? Because what? Too easy? You'd rather bash the coin in hopes that some random whale buys into your reverse psychology (that you just put-up for everyone to see) and pumps the price so you can sell--while supporting the network with your "free" hashrate?

Guessing you never heard of K.I.S.S.  Kiss

Nope, not with CPU power alone..

So you're stealing it?

You are an idiot.

I'm not the one posting that he steals hash rate from his company on a public forum. Especially when he posted a picture months age of "his" high rise office.
