1681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of so-called "anonymous" coins (XMR, SDC, AEON and DASH) on: September 03, 2016, 09:49:36 AM
The main problem is people acting on ignorance--and that includes not buying too.

Agreed. Can't argue with that. But you should also agree that we are currently on the "anonymous trains" wave and some people definitely will get burned.

If the OP has something against privacy as a whole, he should admit it, so others can perform due diligence on his opinion. I do remember that you had some interesting opinions on privacy and a desire to remove it from the cc world IIRC.

I've never said that I am against the privacy, but I do think it will not survive "the race". Monero currently has some success, but I'm still not sure if it is because the darknet markets, or it is just a speculation. Maybe it will find its usage (i.e. better adoption, which can justify the current price) in future, but imho it would not be that big as many people are expecting.

People should perform due diligence on these coins, not on me, because I am 101% sure that some of them will FAIL.

So you never said anything pertaining to people needing oversight to protect them from their bad behavior? I have the day off tomorrow, so if I have to look it up, I'll look it up....
1682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of so-called "anonymous" coins (XMR, SDC, AEON and DASH) on: September 03, 2016, 09:28:59 AM
Monero broke number of records (price, trade volume), but it looks like many people believe that SDC and AEON will follow its trend. One can argue if the XMR growth can be called "organic", but my personal opinion is that this is a pure speculation. Both ShadowCash and Aeon have never reached such prices and volume (you can check their history) and I think that investing in them at this point could be called dangerous.

As long as people continue being stupid and throwing their money at random stuff in the hopes they will magically get rich, manipulation, scams, and failed projects will continue to grow in number.

That's the point of the thread. We can't prevent them, but we can reduce them. Yes, you can say that there are a lot of "stupid" (I'd like to call them naive) people who would most likely "buy the news", but I don't think that's the main problem. Imho the main problem is people being greedy.

The main problem is people acting on ignorance--and that includes not buying too. Throwing a general fear blanket on all anonymous coins misses that some of them are based on good crypto--namely XMR and AEON, and that Evan's coin uses a terrible trust scheme and the SDC was broken by a Monero cryptographer. If the OP has something against privacy as a whole, he should admit it, so others can perform due diligence on his opinion. I do remember that you had some interesting opinions on privacy and a desire to remove it from the cc world IIRC.
1683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Honestly, which is better? Monero or Dash? on: September 02, 2016, 10:20:40 PM
Do you prefer chocolate or vanilla?  Who cares, there are many coins that can obscure your transaction data on the ledger.  It's 2016, and we are still talking about this??

"YAWN!!!"

Dude, are you kidding me? It's like you kids read one whitepaper, skip over the math, and think "I just swallowed the red pill--I'm NEO, mom!" I want you go to amazon and pick up a book on cryptographic engineering and get an inkling into how many things can go wrong when it comes to security: are the routers secure (banks still get this one wrong), who are my adversaries, what firepower do they have, where are the inherent weaknesses, can those weaknesses be kept under supervision, do trade-offs  for increased speed reduce security to make it impractical for a security system, do security trade-offs make the system too slow for most use-cases, does the network's configuration meet standard security measures, and on and on, and this doesn't even account for the crazy math. I'm 5.5 or 6 in the knowledge department for this stuff--just imagine how an 8-9 will make your yawn the O-gape of masturbatory teen who thinks his hand is Jennifer Garner's backside--dream-on.
1684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: September 02, 2016, 06:57:28 PM
I have two obsessions in the game: the first is owning lots of IC . IC is like crack to me, and I hoard it mercilessly. Which gets me to my second obsession, owning a dragon. I don't care how many trolls I have to rid of the southern territory of Plath, I don't care how many times I have to venture into the dangerous territory of the unknown Boy King and the savage armies that guard his retreat, and I don't care how many times Moo the Dragon steals jade out from under us as we attempt a negotiation--I want a dragon.

But how to get one?

As the mechanics stand now. I have to depend on lucky rolls and SCI depletion--which isn't guaranteeing that I have the wanted outcome, but only guaranteeing more information and more positive outcome. ATM, you can only luck yourself mythical/magical items through questing, buy them outright or as a gift, but I think there's a way to expand gameplay and give people what they want.

In this case, I'll be specific with the category and call it BEASTS (namely because I want a dragon):

The mechanic for this would be as follows: the first way would be for the character to perform a magic spell using various ITEMS (either found or bought)--the spell would have a % for success and have a header going from white to black determining what type of magic you are performing--this could also determine things like level and temperment. The % would give it a ranged binary and the magic indicator would allow for Sith, Jedi, or Solo-type game play. I also envision a quest mode where some beasts and magical creatures could be collected in far off lands to be either sold or kept as pets (that need housed and fed--these quests would require transport and supplies, such as spirits and seasonal clothing).

I also think this creates a service business for people who use a portal site to create items on demand (a vr representation of a family pet, iconic character, or a special design--like tattoos coming to life).

Any thoughts?

So expanding on the idea (CAN helps), I see this as more of design company that would sell or give the exclusive rights to characters created for use in their county (and eventually kingdom), of course sphericon would get preferential treatment as his land is designated magical and where the mythical beast currently  live--I think it would be unwise to limit creation to one county as it limits a chain of revenue and squelches competition, which limits creativity by effect.

The value in this would be that counties could add exclusive characters that draw pet collectors to their lands (many will want to live in many lands or trade county specific creatures between each other). In the context of the overall game, it will allow counties to attract new users through character promotions, add defensive capabilities through BV valued beasts, create revenue through item qualified quests or magical/rare items purchased to find or create the creature--it will also create a VOLUNTARY tax stream through creature maintenance (food, shelter, ect), not to mention additional income earned through luxury upgrades and apparel (remember many people are nurturers and like emphathizing with a pet's happiness, rather than identifying themselves with the tedium of  taking care of themselves). Plus it gives county operators something fun and unique to help personalize their lands.

I see this as either a corporation or a state sponsored company--any thoughts?

1687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE RISE AND RISE OF MONERO on: September 02, 2016, 05:04:45 AM

There is no continued rise, the dump will happen. At this moment we are all playing roulette on when it will all come down. The thing that is keeping the price up is the hype around DNM adoption.

Come Sept 1, when DNM Oasis and AlphaBay both starting using XMR... if for some reason we low volume or lower than expected usage I can see the price come tumbling down. But from now to Sept 1st everyone is riding the hype train and it is much harder to manipulate the price down.

So... Any news on this? Are volumes holding up, are people actually using this thing?

Out of all listings on Alphabay, which add up to 46878 at the time of this post, 2561 accept Monero already. This is roughly 5.5%.
Vendors are conducting 'experiments' by accepting Monero only on few of their listings, to see if there is any interest. We should see rapid adoption when (and if) people start using XMR to buy stuff.

It is funny because I am thinking which Monero holders will now buy drugs on Alphabay. Cheesy The best move for the Monero team right now is to set up more infrastructure to buy XMR easier for those people who are interested. It would be better for more shapeshift type of service where the buyer can be anonymous. So maybe a service like localbitcoins for the darknet is a good idea.

I noticed that the localmonero.com domain was available until less than 2 weeks ago, so maybe something will come of it?

In the meantime, can't video game tokens/assets be sold on ebay?  The rules allow for this, don't they?

You gotta be the imbecile from hell to be buying any coin that has gone 10x+ in a week, but I suppose the trap door will fall when they run out of imbeciles as usual.

If Roger Ver is right, you're the imbecile. (and it's 2.5X in the last 7 days)

https://forum.bitcoin.com/monero/monero-price-speculation-thread-t10274.html#p29049

Sorry, a week and a half. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/#charts
Fuckin' pump and dump just like all the rest, trick.

Stupid fuckin' wankers buying at $10 should find another hobby quick. This was nothing more than a pump/dump.

Pulls up BTC chart and glances at its progress after ATH...hmmmm--as long as Monero doesn't do that, I think we're good.

The Royal Corporation of King' Coinshop and the Royal Mint announcement

The initial midprices will be the same as the introduction prices of the items, namely:
* 50,000 m/CKG (1416)
* 8,800,000 m/CON (1605).

These are nothing but guesses as something must be guessed. Market will decide! Smiley

Guesses were badly off. CKG has risen to 13 mil (+160%) and CON to 14 mil (+59%). Records of buyers and sellers are public.

... it seems that the rumors of CK death have been greatly exaggerated ...

in fact it just made a new ATH in aggregate market cap (EUR)

Been awhile since I've seen CON so low, so.... Grin

How much time would that take? Time is money, and you're running out of both....

sorry, i believe in the unreality of time (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Unreality_of_Time) which devalues
your time=money theory.

Thanks for wasting it -- either way.

Wink I will promise to post a pic in the Billboard when we get the market open for real.  Wink

Due to several small things market opening is postponed till tomorrow.

Shame that we don't have the tokens listed in exchanges now. Betting live on the valuation of CK in its critical junction is waaay more fun than pumping some unchanging and valueless altcoin!!!  Grin

Couldn't agree more. I think the CEO's main focus should be on an exchange currency and marketing to new users and investors--as well as implementing the Council's vision.

Has there been a time/date set for Town Counsel? Work sometimes interferes with CK commitments, so the earlier I know the sooner I can adjust my schedule.

Glad the game is on! Can I promote the CEO offer on twitter? Or are we waiting until after the next meeting to move forward on that front?

Poloniex ratcheting it up to full blown with it's "home team" coin.

How many are gonna offer up their blood type to cash out on the "anonymous coin"?

It appears they don't care anymore and will stop at nothing to collect as many Bitcoins as possible before the October surprise.

Then all unsuspecting victims are only a hack away from chaos.

Either that or you will declare them your new master.

Which is it Polo trolls?

Not all of you can cash out at once the liquidation builds up.

Last one out is a rotten egg.

There is no future in these coins.

Just liquidation and shattered dreams.

Sure some of you can shape shift but just know you are all hitting up the same pull at once.

I hope you all brushed up on Looper....

It would be a quite achievement for a CPU botnet virus network to manage to push coin value to 100$, hell know virus assholes and thieves would rejoice, at first they hack, steal, brute force, destroy other people property next you know they are in list with richest people in the world Smiley

They will have same seats with banksters, live long decentralized crypto word of scam

Can you rant about the evils of bittorrent next?

After a lengthy discussion on ##crypto-kingdom, many of the players would like to have a more formal discussion about the game's future (mainly finances, but other game dynamics were discussed), and Sir Jacket was requested as moderator. If HM and Sir Jacket could comment on if they can attend the meeting, their roles, and also to the preferred schedule of the meeting, I think we could come to some consensus as to the game's near term goals. I pray everyone who has interest in the game to express their voice and lend some time for discussion.

Humbly,

Crichton

No, he was friendly enough to warn Monero devs (what you cant say about Monero devs against JC). But he did just one day auditing....what happens after a few weeks auditing? It is poorly written, thats all. And we all know what happens with poorly written code (ETH, The DAO).

Oh, god--this BS again? If you're talking about dev-bot extraordinaire who harassed the hell out of Greg Maxwell with taunts and half-truths, then you'll be interested in hearing about his 13(?) exploits and March attack--both never ever-ever-EVER materialized. I repeatedly challenged him to produce one exploit for everyone's perusal and he side-stepped the accusation, while he was being called out as a fraud. I'll say it again--he's a fraud. He can shut me up by producing a paper on 1 of the 13 (?) exploits he claims. BTW, repeating one that the Monero cryptographers found and outlined in MRL does NOT count: https://lab.getmonero.org/
1700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the XMR pump all due some darkmarkets announcing they will add it? on: August 29, 2016, 10:20:27 AM
XMR went from $25M to close to roughly $130M market cap on a DNM announcement.
FCT has Department of Homeland Security and a Wall Street firm amongst their clients.

There's a mismatch with the demographic of crypto here and many investors put their idealism before money. The US government and Wall Street are easily in the top 5 of what most crypto people despise and for this reason it'll take some time to reach price discovery. The kind of revenue US government and Wall street can generate stomps any shady DNM.

You have no idea how governments work, do you?

(I'll take a nice shady tree under the CIA any day)
