Fontase (no longer too bad...) Cheesy
2582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt Gox CEO Karpeles says bitcoin exchange is at "turning point" on: February 25, 2014, 03:21:14 PM
Karpeles said: "We should have an official announcement ready soon-ish. We are currently at a turning point for the business. I can't tell much more for now as this also involves other parties."

He is selling the company .... that's obvious Smiley

Hope that the company buying this auwful mess doesn't get Goxxed!.
2583  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe gox has lost 740,000 BTC and has only 2,000 left? on: February 25, 2014, 03:15:48 PM
"The cold storage has been wiped out due to a leak in the hot wallet."

BULLSHIT ALERT
Yeah, Wow, Nothing related to the "hot wallet" could have caused a "cold storage" wallet to malfunction in any way shape or form
He's running with the "cold storage" money

can some senior/ advanced member try to explain that?

i do not get how the cold wallet can be affected?

Thats easy: Suppose they have
  • automated withdrawals from cold wallet to hot wallet in case hot has less than X BTC
  • automated deposits to cold wallet from hot wallet in case hot has more than X BTC
  • due to the malleability problem hot wallet constantly shrinks
  • they only check the BTC transactions in their database, and do not double check whether the real BTC holdings are equivalent

Done. With a system like this money from the cold wallet could automatically trickly down into the hot wallet, and nobody noticed anything until it was too late.

If you can automate it, it is not cold since it is available.
If it is available and automated you could in theory hack it.

The only safe method for a cold wallet is an off-site safe where you go with an encrypted paper wallet. Preferably a bank or other secure location.
The guy transporting doesn't have the password and the dude with the password doesn't have the offline wallet. Password gets saved somewhere else offsite.

My 2 cents
2584  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you see the price of BTC above $5000 by the end of 2014? on: February 25, 2014, 01:47:28 PM
I will be happy if it gets to 1000$.
It is still a new technology and if it can stabilize around the current ATH that bodes well.

1000$ is perfect. And should stabilize around that price. And then everybody can use it without to much risk.

I want my Lambo and Jet so $1000 isn't good enough Tongue
2585  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGOX down? on: February 25, 2014, 01:45:20 PM
Nope they are just on the road.... Lol

LOL After the 100th truck you see Mark Karpeles walking by in the background .... Wink
2586  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do people still believe anything gox says? on: February 25, 2014, 12:20:14 PM
I do believe that their trading platform will get sold.
I do not believe people will get their money/BTC back  Undecided
2587  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGOX down? on: February 25, 2014, 12:16:44 PM

2588  Economy / Speculation / MtGOX down? on: February 25, 2014, 08:55:41 AM
Is it me or is MtGOX down? I get a blank page....

Can anyone confirm the same?

Lucky for me I have no money in GOX Smiley
2589  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why are people defending MTGox? on: February 25, 2014, 08:51:21 AM
Is it me or is MtGOX down?  Huh
2590  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many coins do you roughly use for day trading? on: February 24, 2014, 09:32:13 PM
I usually put in multiple trades of 1000+ BTC on an average day  Cool

P.S. I don't work for MtGOX Cheesy
P.S.2. Don't trust people on these forums Smiley
2591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Gox buy their way out of this mess? on: February 24, 2014, 07:19:44 PM
I find it interesting that the resignation happened immediately after this hypothetical phone call.

One way it could have gone --

Matonis 'Hey, everyone's worried about your solvency. What's the status?
Karpeles 'We're solvent.'
Matonis 'Oh good. Then perhaps issue a PR stating this or otherwise prove that you are to the public.....this will really help and perhaps the calls for your resignation will cease.'
Karpeles 'Great. Will do.'

Instead, he resigns immediately and does not issue a more definitive PR or attempt to alleviate his clients worries. Rather than simply show the world he is solvent (if he is), he would rather move to a virtual office, erase his Tweets, and remove himself from the Board? Interesting approach.....

Isn't this just a classic move?
Moving to a virtual office, resigning and removing tweets is probably his way to cover his own ass when the lawsuits hit.
People will sue MtGOX and not Mark directly thus he can say it was all solvent when he left.
Especially if you do this within the company itself you will no that there is nothing to tie you to the claims.
You can also say you left due to the mismanagement (or different management styles) Smiley
2592  Economy / Speculation / Re: TRUTH on: February 24, 2014, 01:45:20 PM
.............so.........Im just a regular guy who seen the trend going up and down on the charts and took a wild guess it would hit $100, I had no informants, am not a hacker, really knew nothing, I seen I got lucky so I played it out like I knew stuff when I didnt, Im not illuminated, not any secret societies, I only had 2 btc, sold them and now look at alt coins, thats the truth, I did ask for donations, I admit and never got any, I am sorry to all, it was just fun entertainment to everyone.  I am no one special, just someone that got lucky.........IM SORRY

Do not believe.

its true, I was drunk, made a prediction, sometimes I see things, get feelings thats it, dumb luck...

This dude has inside info... not sure if he's part of a deep web network and is trying to play it cool now, or if he perhaps summoned a jinn entity (not entirely impossible) who can "see" things that we can't. But "lucky guess" just doesn't explain this. There's more to the story. Please bitcoinsteve, if you have any additional info, let us know. Don't keep to yourself, and no need to rationalize your powers, we're okay with it here.

you really think he is illuminati or Bitcoin Bilderberg Club huh?

In some way or form yes, and I also think he's trying to dodge out with some kind of excuse "I was drunk, lucky guess" because he realizes we're beginning to catch on. Perhaps he was responsible for the massive sell off on Gox one hour before their announcement on Thursday. Bitcoinsteve sees things we don't.

Only one rational explanation: BitcoinSteve == Mark Karpeles  Wink
2593  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Mt. Gox CEO Resigns From Bitcoin Foundation on: February 24, 2014, 08:21:25 AM

please post that picture more zoomed and higher res

there are some ear hairs on the right side that appear a bit fuzzy.

On the plus side we can see every single individual skin pore on his face.

+1

Resolution is poor. Please post a better one I want to read the laser etching on his contact lenses to see where he buys them.
2594  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Forum, Troll Box, Garbage can? on: February 24, 2014, 08:15:07 AM
This subforum is used to spread FUD to weak hands so they sell their cheapies Smiley

Other than that this subforum should not be taken as "the truth" and people can speculate that it will go to $-10 or +$10000K if they want.
I like this subforum even though the FUD is spreading like herpes.
2595  Economy / Speculation / Re: Max Keiser Predicts $750-$800 This Coming Week on: February 23, 2014, 08:23:20 PM
We are at $600+ on every non-GOX exchange. Since Bitcoin is the honey badger of cryptocurrency I give it a definite maybe Cheesy
2596  Economy / Speculation / Re: How would a U.S. (or multinational) economic collapse affect bitcoin prices? on: February 23, 2014, 05:42:50 PM
If the dollar goes to shit you wouldn't be able to buy bitcoins with it would you?.
Who would want dollars if they are going down the drain?

In the event of an economic collapse and hyper inflation only a few people would get into bitcoin and flee the country fast enough.

Bitcoin would increase due to the fact that people are getting in but the rise will be temporary.
2597  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese corrupted officers will push Bitcoin price up 1000 times on: February 23, 2014, 05:14:18 PM
from the article:

"If the wallet.dat is in a cloud disk, and the holder remembers the password in his brain, he can use his Bitcoin anywhere in the world when connected to the internet."

holder doesn't even need a cloud disk.

Or a brain, you could tattoo it as a QR-Code on the bottom of your foot Tongue
2598  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market sentiment short survey on: February 23, 2014, 04:52:44 PM
We have hit the despair period on "The chart" so I believe we will go towards a bull trap.
Bad news can't get worse than China and MtGOX Smiley (I hope).

We will start an uptrend and hit $1000 in April. A new ATH will probably be hit around August at $5k.
2599  Economy / Speculation / Re: By December 31st, 2014 we will have touched $5000/BTC on: February 23, 2014, 10:37:42 AM
With the current 300%/day climbrate at GOX we'll be at >$5000 in 3 days.
Looking at it from the $220/day point of view we'll be there in 21 days.

TO DA MOON!!! Shocked  Wink

2600  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: February 23, 2014, 10:32:05 AM
With the price rising again my HODL has proved to be a good move!!!

HODLS before SODLS!!!!  Cheesy
