261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Infinitecoin - IFC 524,288 coins per block! V1.1 Released! Please Upgrade on: July 02, 2013, 04:55:47 PM
I did some major rework to the back end of the lotto yesterday, moving more information to the database.

Based on limited options and a couple of suggestions from the thread here, I've changed the IFC ticket price to 1000 IFC per ticket.

This will allow us to process a prize total in excess of 1 billion IFC using the current "double random" selection.

Two deposits have been made with odd numbers of IFC.  I will be adding 5k IFC to each of those reservations just so that the new ticket price doesn't "round off" what would have been counted as tickets.

The numbers were very specific, if those are your deposits and you want them back in light of this change, drop me a PM.

Also: I am assuming that 0.5 BTC is for coin dev? Is this another Hazard coin?

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but if this was a hazard coin the release would have been earlier and gone more according to plan.

Hazard knows how to squeeze out the shitcoin. If I recall r3wt said he was twiddling with blockchain management too, but i'm not 100% sure in the recent flood of coins.

This is definitely r3wt's project  and a lot of developers have touched it.  I've seen some of the saga both here and in some other chats around like cryptsy. The original plans (when I heard it) involved some very different numbers, and based on a combination of his ability to get it done and suggestions from the community this is what  we have today.

So far, what r3wt lacks in skill he's made up in enthusiasm. But everyone keeps encouraging him to a smaller and smaller coinbase.

Just IMO you should fork back to the announced block rewards as they were posted at release.

EDIT: The implication being that this isn't "just another shitcoin/hazardcoin" it's been a very open project for a novice developer. Some speed bumps are expected it's been a rough road to release.

1 Million premined coins Huh
Can we get the address for those coins so we can make sure they don't go to an exchange?

And I think it made my windows run faster, too.

I can already hear the nearby children laughing with joy.

lol, should not issue real tickets in that case, just reserve a range for a ticket range Wink

I was wondering why the
http://lotto.coinworld.us/IFC/

was down. I'll add another million to the bet  Grin

Infinite Coin was added by a user's request later in the week.

When we started this site a few days ago, I wasn't really planning for multi-million coin drawings right away.

I also didn't realize that the memory settings were so tight on these servers.

I can use reservation IDs to generate the tickets and probably cut the required memory by 2/3 or more in a drawing with a small number of reservations, too.  In this case that would have just barely saved it.

So, I know what the restrictions are now we'll sort something out. But if I don't put it into an array it's hard to do something like shuffle(). At this time the drawing procedure is shuffle, random selection, delete selected ticket, repeat.

I like the two stage process - it resembles shuffling some balls or tickets in a cage and then drawing one each time. And even if some salting factor or quirk of rand would select tickets in a cluster, the shuffle offsets the chances.

There's also the option of moving to using some temp tables in a DB or something.  But it seems like that would be time consuming, at least.

I'm open to any suggestions for sure.

Thanks for playing, and sorry for the delay.

ok it's a few hours late since you guys busted my server with 3m tickets Smiley

the infinitecoin lotto has been drawn and prizes manually sent.

you can view the drawing results here:

http://lotto.coinworld.us/IFC/history.php?draw=1

If you want to actually see the list of 3.3m tickets you'll have to download the 115mb text file for now.

Neither one of my webhosts will support over 64mb of memory (this includes GoDaddy unlimited shared hosting) and so the web server was used to make the "tickets" and that file was taken to my local machine and processed in command line php using the same drawing code as the web server.

here are TX IDs for the payouts:

Also I've added 900k IFC to the jackpot for the next drawing.

Hope to see you there next week!

When will be the next round of the game?

Grr, this should be 7 days.

This will be corrected for this an any other affected drawings immediately - all drawings will occur in 1 week again.

For the immediate future, this is our recurring plan.

We may occasionally have promotional or "test" drawings as we add new features or coins. However the main drawing for each coin will be held weekly.

273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to accept LTC/BTC in a store, café or a small business in general? on: June 30, 2013, 09:29:15 PM
Thanks for the reply, i was considering this at first, but it's exactly what I want to avoid. I want it to be even simpler than using actual cash - because it's possible. This needs some Apple approach developers:)

The proposed solution is actually at least as simple as cash, I would think.

The customer who wants to pay you in LTC/BTC knows how to use it, even if your cashiers don't.

A posted QR code for those who have smartphones, and a printed account number (or maybe an easy to type URL where they can quickly copy it on their laptop/tablet/whatever they have with them) for those who don't but still want to make physical transaction in crypto.

All you need is a little monitor on your WinXP/Cash register that shows incoming transactions to the account.

This might be nearly zero development if block chain explorer offers an account balance API.

At that point the customer can say "I just sent X.XX coins to your litecoin account."  The employee looks at the monitor window, when it says "incoming transaction" for that exact amount, it's the customer's payment. If you want to wait a specific number of confirmations that's ok too.

Since it's going to be the customer's responsibility to send, this solutions is truly "easier than cash" for the employee, who just waits for the payment to show on the screen.

And it's a very simple transaction for a bitcoin or litecoin user to make, using their own wallet or equipment.

Nice going with your lotteries. I'm sure you'll sort out the glitches.

Maybe you should make IFC tickets cost like 1000 IFC.

This is a possibility.

276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coin World Lotteries - First Big Sunday - The Raw Facts on: June 30, 2013, 08:38:43 PM
OK.

I ain't too proud, but I'm honest.  Here's where we are.

I set up everything to run automatically today and watched the chips fall.

We had ten drawings between 12 and 12:10 PST.

ALF - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

BOT - The drawing process went ok, the sendmany failed.  This is the second time for BOT I hope to find a clerical error.

CGB - no participation

DGC - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

EMD - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

FLO - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

FTC - no participation

MEC - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

TDC - No problems, congratulations to the winners.

Payments for FLO and BOT will be sent manually within the next hour or less.

EDIT the FLO jackpot was larger than I had thought, and payments were indeed sent "automagically".

==========================================

What's left?  IFC.

You guys broke the server.  This lottery script actually spins out a list of tickets, and draws from them in memory. With a jackpot of over 3 million IFC, the web server ran out of memory and was unable to complete a drawing.

All funds are safe, I have the reservations and everything in hand, and will be looking at an alternate way of performing this drawing. If necessary we will perform the actual drawing from a different VPS and post the audit results manually.

If we can't do this within 24 hours I will allow the reservations holders to request (using signed messages) a return of their deposit.

The drawing was 2m tickets last night, I thought we might make it. At 3m there was no way  Wink

============================================================================

For those of you who weren't aware of these lotteries, you can find our site at http://lotto.coinworld.us/

You can follow the feedback thread I was running this week here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=241609.0

And please feel free to share your thoughts, comments, or derision in this thread as well.

We'll get this sorted and be stronger next week. If I can't find an explanation (mistake) for why the sendmany transactions failed I will re-write to include multiple single payments instead.

All drawings are open and accepting reservations at this time, except Infinite Coin.  Ticket price remains at one coin per ticket, and you can purchase as many as you like. Infinite Coin will be open again soon.

278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Alphacoin - the new innovative alt coin! | Version 1.1 released, please update! on: June 30, 2013, 09:13:34 AM
Yeah.

This lottery actually makes "tickets" and then "draws" from them in memory.

You will have 1000/1150 entries in the first round.

If you win the first round, that ticket will be deleted, you will only have 999/1149 to win the second round.

If you win that second round you will have 998/1148 in the third round.

etc...

It's not really technical but there's an overview on the how it works page.

If you have 1000 tickets in a 1150 ticket jackpot there's a fair chance you'll sweep it.

But if you don't get them all, anyone else who takes a prize is going to feel like they won Smiley

You could try and get some other ALF high rollers to throw in and grow your pot.  But I think you've basically sponsored this one.

You can get about 89.9something % of your money back like this.

279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Alphacoin - the new innovative alt coin! | Version 1.1 released, please update! on: June 30, 2013, 08:48:30 AM
lol I just put in 1k ALF, but first place is only 500 ALF.

I just lost 500ALF already lol.

If you bought 1000 tickets there's a chance you will win more than one prize. It looks like you currently own over 90% of the tickets sold.
