2601  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 4TH hashing power, what to do with it. on: September 12, 2013, 11:51:44 AM
Your better off using p2pool than solomining. That old thing ain't gonna mine jack soon.
2602  Other / Off-topic / Re: How the Ripple is going? on: September 12, 2013, 10:53:05 AM
Is it open source yet?
2603  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 4TH hashing power, what to do with it. on: September 12, 2013, 10:51:31 AM
I would take a higher gamble and mine PPCoin with them instead of Bitcoin.

Or

Mine Bitcoin + merge mine all the other sha256 coins at same time.
2604  Other / Off-topic / Can you find it? on: September 11, 2013, 07:45:45 PM
Fancy at job working at GCHQ (UK Government Communications Headquarters)?

Their “Can You Find It” competition launched today, features a string of 143 characters broken into 28 sets of five and one final set of three. Once cracked, the code provides a trail of clues that will lead participants on a “cyber treasure-hunt” to the final answer – and a possible job at the facility in Cheltenham, UK.

Not until you load up the last batch with lots of juicy free coins.
2606  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If USB Block Erupters are not worth the trouble, what is? on: September 11, 2013, 02:07:40 PM
Why no just buy the Bitcoins instead of messing about mining them?
2607  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Remote bitcoind on: September 11, 2013, 09:14:26 AM
Hi, is there a way to run bitcoind on a remote machine (in my case it would be a Linux VM), but have a local frontend to access it?

Yes, the safest way would be tunneling through SSH.
2608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Shared mining in 1 month on: September 11, 2013, 09:06:52 AM
We are interested in big investments (100K-1M USD)

LOL  Cheesy
2609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NIG] Nigeria Coin giveaway - post your NIG adress on: September 10, 2013, 06:49:02 AM
You realize that "NIG" is considered a racist term pretty much everywhere in north america..?

Oh please, give it a rest. Everything is racist if your looking for racist stuff.

Quick let's shutdown this website.
http://www.nig.co.uk
Nationwide Investigations Group. Clearly racist!

2610  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Compression Concept Worth Big Money - I Did It! on: September 10, 2013, 06:23:55 AM
Is it something like this?

Is this for real, or a is it a joke?  Did someone just make this site to mock me, or is this for real?

The description used mirrors my idea exactly .... perhaps someone has already discovered what I am trying to get done.  If this is so, what a pity.  My dream goes to another.

So this is where you copied the idea from.

Asking for investors, yet was open source all along.
2611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [NIG] Nigeria Coin - SHA256 POS+POW on: September 10, 2013, 04:31:27 AM
am i the only one who finds the coins suffix/3 letter identifier "NIG" to seem racist?

It's only racist if you want it to be racist.

Your trying to fit a pint of milk into a half-pint glass. Can't be done.
2613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Compression Concept Worth Big Money - I Did It! on: September 09, 2013, 06:33:58 PM
Come on, are you saying this isn't a valid idea in the first place?  Now I am beginning to question if you are for real.  Maybe you are just heckling me for the fun of it.  In that case, let this thread die and go back to your normal lives.  Jeesh.  People are unbelievable.

At long last the penny has finally dropped!

Oh well, another million dollar idea collapses. Back to the drawing board....
2614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Computer just for coin transactions. on: September 09, 2013, 06:55:38 AM
Everyone is always going to have to accept a certain amount of risk, however small.

How do you know that any chip on the motherboard, processor, GPU, harddrive doesn't have some sort of spying routine programmed in?

The answer is you don't. You have to accept the small risk.
2615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Compression Concept Worth Big Money - I Did It! on: September 06, 2013, 10:39:46 PM
If I follow your advice here, I would write out my idea, post it somewhere and wait for glory to come.  Meanwhile, someone else with money would take my idea, actually formulate a software program with it, patent that, and since he came to the patent office first, he would get the credit, not me.

Release it on an open source license then.
2616  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Compression Concept Worth Big Money - I Did It! on: September 06, 2013, 07:44:58 AM
Just release your new algorithm under an open source license.
You'll get a name for yourself, and big companies will be knocking at your door for your employment.

These sort of threads always pop up now and again for a little light entertainment.
2618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Accidently sent bitcoin to first genesis block, any way to get it back? on: September 03, 2013, 12:53:17 PM
One thing I intentionally do every time I send Bitcoins or Litecoins is verify the the address at least visually (first set of bits and last set).

Hasn't failed me once yet.

Almost always copy paste addresses, then verify visually.

This is a good habit to get into.
2619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is buying ALL the PPCoin's ? on: September 02, 2013, 12:50:59 PM
Market manipulation: you should not buy it. Smiley

But all the coin markets can/are being manipulated.
2620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question regarding number of Bitcoins and when they will be finished mining on: September 02, 2013, 12:00:32 PM
2140. Minting halves every 210000 blocks.
