yeah that sucks but we have to deal with it.

Still I don't understand it. They have collected tens of thousands of coins. How can they spend all of them without getting caught?

I guess they will just sit on them for years and hope they get forgotten about.

2064  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will plummet to $10 by first half of 2014 on: December 21, 2013, 08:04:16 AM
Who cares, BTC is unstable anyways

That's because it has just a tiny market cap of $10 billion. Tiny markets are always unstable.
2065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An idea I had while washing clothes. on: December 21, 2013, 04:10:52 AM
I was sitting at the Laundrette with some clothes to wash after I had to go to the service station to get enough $1 coins to operate the machines when I realised how much easier it would have been if the washing machines and dryers had qr codes on a screen attached that worked when the right amount of bitcoins were sent to the machines.

So much easier than carrying bulk change around and you could also install a bitcoin atm there to get some bitcoins from. Waiting for confirmations wouldn't even be a problem since you are stuck there for however long it takes to wash your clothes....

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Bitcoin and that, but I fail to see how using Bitcoin in this situation is easier than coins? I'd prefer to just shove some coins in and off it goes. Using Bitcoin I'd got to arse about scanning codes etc... And if I can't get a signal on my phone I can't send them.

Bitcoin is great, but so is the convenience and ease of using cash.
2066  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will plummet to $10 by first half of 2014 on: December 21, 2013, 03:55:26 AM
I agree in the sense that I also believe that in 2014 the price will be below 10 dollars.
Then bet on it! You damn troll! Put your money where your mouth is!

This should be interesting. You've been challenged. Hope your not going to weasel out of it porc. Cheesy
2067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Miners are dumping DogCoins ? on: December 20, 2013, 10:11:14 AM

Exactly who you would expect: pudgy liberal neckbeard stuck in his own world.

You would think with that beard he'd want to keep any fires away at a safe distance.
2069  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 12-18-2013 Why I want Bitcoin to die in a fire on: December 19, 2013, 08:27:28 PM
It would have to be a distributed fire. Not your usual centralised inferno.

Everyone is now arguing with one another. Exactly what Revans wants.
I think that makes Revans the winner.

I know it's tough, but the only way to win is to ignore him.
2071  Economy / Speculation / Re: The inevitable collapse of hubris on: December 19, 2013, 06:04:23 PM
I woke up today to see Bitcoin back up, pushing 700 again

Yeah, I think the bounce will be short lived. It looks way overpriced to me.
2072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin simply cannot replace fiat on: December 19, 2013, 02:55:15 PM
Bitcoin won't be replacing anything in China in the foreseeable future.
The government quickly nipped that one in the bud.
2073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEO of BTC China speaking to CNBC on: December 19, 2013, 09:00:08 AM
It really annoys me when people start all their sentences with "So...". In English you BARELY EVER start a sentence with "So..." and it's even rarer to use it to answer a direct question. I mean WTF? I thought this was a quick fad but it's been going on long enough and we have to put a stop to it. I'm starting a committee or something. It drives me fucking nuts. Learn to English.

Top comment !!!

I completely agree. Starting a sentence with "so" implies some continuity of a dialogue that the listener hasn't been aware of..kind of "ah, you haven't heard about this, I'll just bring you up to date". At best it's ridiculous grammar and at worst it's an attempt to dismiss the legitimacy of the questioner's challenge and is patronising as f*ck.

It annoys the f*ck out of me as well and the Winklevoss's are the worst culprits.

On a related note, listen to them try to explain Bitcoin - instead of just saying "its peer to peer money that doesn't need a bank as a counterparty", they go on about cryptology and C++ programming !?!

http://www.businessinsider.com/winklevoss-twins-explain-what-bitcoin-is-2013-11

So it's okay to pointlessly swear in most sentences?
2074  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-18 BTCChina closed bank deposit as a way to deposit Chinese Yuan. on: December 18, 2013, 10:23:50 PM

The single point of failure are the exchanges. Without an easy way to convert BTC <> fiat, Bitcoin is useless.

Yeah, no way people could possibly do that on their own without exchanges... </eyeroll>

You give up too easily, that's for sure.

Yeah sure they can, but Bitcoin will never go mainstream.
If using Bitcoin involves any more hoops to jump through than someone using a credit card or Paypal, then your average Joe just won't use it. Bitcoin would still exist of course within it's small niche, but the world would lose interest.

I think at some point Bitcoin (the community) is going to have to make a compromise in exchange for being allowed on legal licensed exchanges. We will all have to make a choice to accept it or not.

it takes time.

do you remember how long it took to fill out a credit card slip 20 years ago? Smiley

and look at where amex, visa and mastercard are today.  remember some of them started back in the 1950s... this will go A LOT faster.

it is alot easier, faster to buy a beer with a scan of a btc qr code than it is to do a credit card tx.

every person under the age of 15 today in countries that have smart phones will know how to use it in 5 years...

Yes I agree, but the vendor of the beer must be able to convert the Bitcoins to their own currency easily. If they can't, or it too much arsing around, they just won't accept them in the first place. If governments start throttling exchanges, it's then not easy.

Of course you could argue that the vendor doesn't need to convert to fiat if he just spends the Bitcoins on the things he wants. But then this is the famous chicken and egg scenario.
2075  Economy / Speculation / Re: The inevitable collapse of hubris on: December 18, 2013, 08:59:53 PM
I hope there are plenty of people who lose absolutely everything to this scam. And I hope their utter financial ruin will serve as a warning.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have located a bag holder that bought at $1200.  Cheesy

Looks like the great Bitcoin pump and dump swindle is coming to its inevitable conclusion.
You don't honestly believe it's the end of Bitcoin do you? I think we both know that's not true.

2078  Economy / Speculation / Re: Selling denial stage on: December 18, 2013, 05:15:43 PM
why the F%&$ BTCChina shutoff cash deposits ?

They haven't.
Others have been ordered to stop sending money to BTCChina instead.
Nothing BTCChina can do about that.

here you go http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-price-falls-btc-china-exchange-shuts-fiat-deposits/

and yes third party payment processors like PayPal, Alipay, Yeepay, was suspended from the government, but banks transfers should work all the way, the Chinese move was a regulator move, but BTCChina suspended cash deposits, and again why the F%&$ ?!!!!

Well I don't know what's happening.
But what I do know if I was Chinese I certainly wouldn't be putting my fiat anywhere near an exchange at the present time.

We start on the launch pad, get to the moon, then fall back to orbit around earth!

It's. Just. Awful.

I'm sure some are taking full advantage of the drop.
