2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One of the World’s Largest ATM Manufacturers Announces Bitcoin Support on: November 17, 2017, 02:41:51 PM
For me, this is a good news but people are looking for ways to buy a bitcoin cheaper so why would they choose using expensive method of buying cryptocurrency if there are lots of ways that we can buy it cheaper. That is why I think it will not have that much impact on Bitcoin. I've used it once and will never go back unless it's the only way to buy a bitcoin.

ATMs are traditionally the most expensive way of getting bitcoins and I really don't understand the enthusiasms for it either.

The fees are (at least in my area ) from 4.5% (though I've never seen that atm in real life but it is still on coinradar) to 10%.
That is outrageous !!!!
If I would be buying 1000 euros worth of bitcoin I would pay 100 in fees at the ATM and only 12 euros for bank wire/fees on exchange.
Or I could go with localbitcoins and spend only 3-5% extra and buy the same small amount.
I know somebody in my town that deals even with sums as low as 50 euros in person so no banks.

Of course, when you're the one putting the ATMs out there and charging those fees the picture is turning pink and unicorns with dollar bills are flying around. So it's natural that the vultures companies are getting involved.

For some people those fees are just worth it because they get a very easy to use service in return and don't have to deal with any hassle.
If I lived close to an ATM, I'd probably use it too if the fees were under 5%

Do these ATMs require verification or can you just buy Bitcoins anonymously?
2642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did you learn from your gambling mistakes? on: November 17, 2017, 02:28:54 PM
Biggest mistake I ever had is going all in or that YOLO bet. I was motivated by this friend of mine as he shows his YOLO winning streak by following a simple strategy of betting in small increments and after losing 3 times or 4 times in a row, a YOLO bet follows and win. I tried to duplicate his style but I lost money instead of gaining profits. Those were the days.
Now that's something I would never do myself, just seems so silly to end your game by making one last win or lose bet.
I don't even see how that would be fun, either you lose everything and you're bummed out, or you win and can't stop playing because you think you'll win again.

I just prefer to do smaller bets and cash out after a certain amount of time, regardless if I win or lose.
2643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever invested in an ICO? on: November 17, 2017, 02:10:10 PM
I've always stayed away from throwing my precious coins to icos or mediocre projects. Im very cautious about my investments, thats why i do  not understand what these people are lining up to throw money at these icos. But im not saying there arent good projects. But talk about over valued company raising 8 digit figures based on a white paper.. but i finally pulled the trigger and invested into the spectre project. Thats why im also joined the sig bounty to earn extra spectre tokens. You should check it out, im not advertising as i did heavily invested into this project. Once you join the telegram channel and speak with the team, you will understand why im confident in this project.
Yeah, I personally ignore most announcements about new ICOs too, I think I've only invested in one or two, made a profit and quit.
I might invest in something, but then it'll have to be something I'm really confident about.

Besides, everybody is focused on Bitcoin now.
2644  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How effective are bitcoin trading bots? on: November 17, 2017, 01:44:44 PM
Trading bots might get you good profits in calm market conditions whereas in high volatility it may go wrong. It means you cannot leave off your trading responsibilities to a bot. You must take care of when to use bot and not.
It all depends on how you set it up though... I've seen some scripts that were made to operate in high volatility, though they were advertised as being riskier.
I'm sure that you could also add a script that could adapt to certain specific conditions.

I've personally made around 2 to 3 percent per day profit with a trade bot in the cloud which was sold as a service.
2645  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bounty0x - A decentralized bounty hunting network (animated explainer video) on: November 17, 2017, 11:38:18 AM
Too bad that you can't see the content of listings without an account, but I guess that's fairly standard practice.
It's still an amazing project and I'm amazed at how many listings are already on there, looks like you've made something quite useful Smiley

Great video btw, you've found a very skilled animator!
2646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do timelocked transactions work? on: November 17, 2017, 11:04:04 AM
Thanks to both of you, using Coinbin it's fairly easy and I had apparently missed it on the Bitcoin wiki page about timestamps, so I'm glad I asked here.
I've downloaded the page on Coinbin and successfully created a short-term timelocked transaction to test things out.

I've read that it isn't too wise to lock transactions into the far future, is it really not advisable use OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY for, say, 5 years?

Source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Timelock#Far-future_locks
2647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How do timelocked transactions work? on: November 17, 2017, 12:48:15 AM
I've been looking for an easy way to create a transaction with a time lock, so it can't be spent before a certain date/block.
Is there currently a wallet that allows me to create such a transaction through a GUI?

Once the transaction is timelocked, it can't be spent in any other way right?

I've already read through a couple of tutorials and wikis but couldn't find a really straightforward way of creating such a transaction without having to resort to command line...
2648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Games of skill best practice on: November 16, 2017, 05:31:25 PM
So, now lets say I have all the contestants and their receiving addresses, I don't need any other information in theory? Correct?
No, just their address should be enough, I think it's even perfectly possible to do this without needing a user management system.
You can always start without one and add one later if your service becomes more successful or if you do see a need for it.

Also, I have major concerns about security / cheaters / competitor attacks / hack copy scams etc. I had a thought that if I make this contest available on a handful of different sites at the same time upon launch it will help to prevent some of that, but whose to say?  I am an experienced server admin and developer, but I am inexperienced with crypto and understanding the implications of releasing this contest are challenging to me.

Thank you so much for your thoughts!
Yeah if you're not confident enough about the level of security you could implement by yourself, it's best to have a bug bounty contest beforehand or have someone with more experience pen test everything and look at your code.

You can't do too much against copies though, just make sure that your own website remains the most popular one. What else could you do against copies, except warn people?

Also, what happens when rainbot wins the lottery? Do his payout rates increase with the added balance?

I'm pretty sure Rainbot is a she, check out that avatar on her profile, quite a cutie  Grin

From the faq

Quote
Within a 24 hour time period, RainBot will give away a maximum of 30% of its balance. In each rain interval, RainBot will give away a maximum of 10% of its daily funds.

So yes, when Rainbot wins the lottery or receives a large tip the rainfall is much heavier.

I should have known it was in the FAQ, almost everything is in there Tongue In that case, I hope it wins some more lottery prizes!

Don't think Danbo has a gender, though the rainbot gender discussion won't ever end, I'm afraid Cheesy

Non-binary rainbot confirmed then! Opening a can of worms with this statement though Cheesy
2650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friends, who can tell me is there any 0% house edge casinos? on: November 16, 2017, 01:22:50 PM
Hello. I met a casino with 0% house edge. Can I trust them?

If some casino is claiming 0% house edge then they are making false statement I think. The casinos earns from the house edge you may find the casinos with less house edge but I don't think you will find any casino without the house edge.
I've seen some casino's that have a 0% house edge on their dice games, I'm not sure how they get their profits but they aren't making false statements afaik.
Some casinos have a 0% house edge on some of their games, not all. They make enough profit from their other games to make up for the losses.

Crypto-Games has a +EV lottery for example.
2651  Economy / Goods / Re: Made some Bitcoin Posters which I want to sell - looking for feedback on: November 16, 2017, 01:02:38 PM
Thanks for kind comments people! Smiley

I really like the phone cases...is it available apart from Iphone models??? Kindly update if any.
We should have Samsung Galaxy S7, S8 and S7/8 Edge added I hope tomorrow Smiley Not sure if any of those will fit your phone though.

I wish I had a phone that was a bit more popular (Motorola G5S plus), could really use a case of yours Tongue Don't expect you're going to add that specific model any time soon.

You might want to edit your first post to include your website and Openbazaar store there too, makes it easier for people to check it out without having to read the entire first page Wink

2652  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto-trading software recommendations on: November 16, 2017, 12:27:59 PM
Have you looked into BTX Trader? I don't have any experience with it myself, but it looks like it has all the features you need.
It's mostly free, but you do have to pay a small fee for certain trades, I don't really know how that works and/or if that's acceptable or not.

At least check out their website:
https://btxtrader.com/

This isn't an automatic trading bot btw Wink
2653  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Roadmap on: November 16, 2017, 12:18:43 PM
They're very important if you want to create some level of trust in the future for people who choose to invest.
Roadmaps give you some form of accountability and lets people see how much progress you've made.

If you don't have a roadmap, you can just keep postponing new features etc. while people have no idea if the project is on the right track or not.

The only reason I can think of why you don't want one is that you don't want to be held accountable for failing to meet your goals in time.

And a high roller in action, earlier today:

Catch the winning spirit!
Must have nerves of steel to make even a couple of these bets, even with such a high chance of winning.
Investors are going to have a field day again if he loses one bet, just like the other week, though that wasn't the same person I think.

Also, what happens when rainbot wins the lottery? Do his payout rates increase with the added balance?
2655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Participation? on: November 14, 2017, 06:19:25 PM
How many people actually participate in the ICO stage of new alts? It would appear the obvious answer is a lot, considering the amount of money they raise. But isn't better to wait for the first storm to pass and then jump on after all the hoopla?

The short answer is NO!  Smiley

If you invested in every single ICO, including the crappy and scammy ones you would have seen a return on investment (ROI) of  1320%.

Think about that for a minute and really let it sink in...

There are such huge amounts of money flowing into crypto right now that its more important to get in early, than to try and find the absolute best ICO to invest in. Of course, you should not put all your eggs in one basket or you will get burned. You need to spread your risk.

Here is a good article about it http://uk.businessinsider.com/ico-mangrove-capital-average-returns-crypto-icos-2017-10
That's a really interesting article from a pretty reputable source, I'd suggest reading the full article to anyone who's also interested in this.
Couldn't believe that ICO's were that profitable on average, but I guess it's because the really successful ones bring up the averages and make up for any losses.

I've always been pretty hesitant to invest in ICO's, but I think I need to start building a small portfolio after reading this Tongue
2656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nearly a third of people think bitcoin will collapse in the next six months on: November 14, 2017, 05:21:23 PM
I think it's pretty surprising that there are still people who think that Bitcoin will crash and remain without any value afterwards...
Have these people not seen what happened so many times over and over in the past 7 years?

We'll see another big correction, maybe even a crash, but we all know that the value will go up again eventually.

This also makes me wonder how this survey was done exactly.
2657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best domains for ICO? on: November 14, 2017, 05:08:32 PM
Hello everyone!

What are the best domains and subdomains for ICO landing page?
How do you think?

Thanks to everyone!
And, what do you think is better for ICO - to setup additional subdomain name on your existing web site like ico.quantor.co or just setup new one like Quantor.ai (or smth like that)?

I think it's better to just use the root domain name instead of a subdomain.
First of all, it's easier for people to remember and recognize it and looks more professional in my opinion.

Why would you use a subdomain?
2658  Economy / Gambling / Re: Investing in btc casinos on: November 14, 2017, 04:43:48 PM
in my opinion  invest small amount of bitcoins in Casino then we won't be able to have a good profit and if we have a huge amount of bitcoins than to my mind it's better to create your own casino because all profit will be your because when you invest, you are receiving small percent of profit.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It's not that easy to start your own casino and you could end up losing everything just because your casino isn't popular enough.
Far less risky to just invest a couple of Bitcoins in an established Bitcoin casino.

I think you're vastly underestimating the cost and skill required to start your own profitable casino.
2659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you play solo poker online ? on: November 13, 2017, 03:13:48 PM
I wouldn't, the house edge on those poker games isn't too great and I don't find it fun to play against AI opponents.

Poker is fun just because you can play it against other players and you have an edge over them if you're better at the game, you just don't have that if you're playing against the house.
Plus you don't really know in what way the game is rigged against you.

2660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin casino's are the FUTURE! on: November 13, 2017, 01:15:23 PM
No Bitcoin casinos are not the future sorry. They can't even scratch the surface of all the promotions and bonuses the fiat ones give to their customers aside from the far better odds overall. There is no comparison  Grin

Bonusses and promotions aren't everything, how likely is it even that you'd hit those rollover requirements anyway?
I personally don't care for bonusses, I wouldn't even accept one if they offered it, it's a good way to get addicted imho.

Most Bitcoin casino's do have a faucet for example, no rollover requirements and a good way to test out the games for free.
