Yeah it should have the option to turn the card off or at least the tracking off. Yes simple cover sleeve to act as a Faraday cage would also be a good idea to protect the card.
Is a sleeve like that possible? I thought cages had to be grounded to be effective? |

What do you base that on? Increased amount of trolling? The trolls work themselves up into a frenzy over this once a month or so. Everytime it seems worse than the last. Everytime it settles down when pirate does what he said he would. Mostly because of the response to it. When pirate locks his thread, and when his entourage start trying to silence people, I start wondering why? Is there a kernel of truth in there somewhere, and that's why it bothers them so bad? |

Excatly! whoever put this restriction in place is a dumbass because he didn't put any information regarding this visibly enough. New users are wasting time finding the reply button and might be put of completely - this is not a common behaviour of forum systems so even experienced users could be put off. I don't want to argue whether putting resctrictions like these are good or bad - but once you do it, do it properly. It's on the registration page twice, once right below where you enter your information, and again at the bottom with a checkbox.  ---  You're right though, someone is a dumbass. |

My post count jumped by 400 the other day. I looked through my previous posts to see if anything stood out but didn't see anything. It was back to normal the next day though.

We definitely are having issues with scammer cases at the moment. There's several that need to be looked into, that can't be determined just from reading a thread or two. Maged was the only mod really doing them, now that he's not there's nobody doing it. It's a lot of time and effort to ask someone to do for free. It might be a decent business idea. Insurance/collection agency type thing, where if you pass certain standards when performing a trade (getting enough info/using escrow/whatever) then they will guarantee to buy your debt for a percentage fee and collect themselves/pursue scammer tag. If appropriate precautions are taken a scammer tag should be a certainty in the majority of cases. And that's not theymos being an ass, he's always been short and to the point. It helps if you think of him as a robot. An anarchist robot. And yeah bans for scammers ain't gonna happen, don't even ask. Besides, banning them would just ensure they'll never pay their debts. |

For a place where trust is everything, and where the destiny of not only quite a lot of money, but, in part, of bitcoin itself is decided, shouldn't we have at least a rating system like eBay's?
I don't know of many forums that actually do that. Unless it's a forum that requires personal information/payment just to register an account. How do you stop people from making alternate accounts just to downvote competitors? Most of the forums I know offload that to a third source. Like heatware, but here we have the OTC and web of trust. |

Maged can clearly see through IP logs that they are the same person ? Maybe the rules changed since March ? Or maybe Maged is the only non-admin who can see IP logs ? Or maybe I am going crazy  ? If we have suspicions we ask theymos, he'll usually confirm/deny at least. We don't have access to IPs. |

Also, what about setting up a scammer squad or scammer watch thread headed by me ( it takes one to know one ), martychubbs, psy, bitlane etc. Are you calling me a scammer, or am I misunderstanding it?  Not calling anybody a scammer. I was talking about starting a thread in which smart people call out supposed scammers. I proposed the people : martychubbs called out A1BITCOINPOOL scammer psy is staff and can access IP logs and can smell a scammer from a mile away bitlane is internet detective and called out bitscalper etc. Only admins can see IPs, and that's the way it should be. The majority of the time they are using proxies anyway so it doesn't help much. |

It is, there just isn't anyone willing to investigate. If they are scammers then they probably would have a tag by now if there were anyone working the cases. I don't know if you just can't read or don't believe it, but there are literally 0 people who are willing to do the scammer investigations Maged did, and Maged isn't doing them for now. You're gonna have a hard time finding someone to give away their time for free. If you really want to see them get a scammer tag, then feel free to compile all the evidence, I'm sure Maged will give you some tips. Or just sit here and whine about it I guess. OK. I understand. Just clarify this for me : from now on, nobody gets scammer tagged anymore ever ? No, people are still getting scammer tags. There's always clear cut cases which don't take much work, or people dumb enough to admit to what they did, etc. Cases that aren't so clear, like several of the ones you've mentioned will likely sit in the pile until a better solution comes along.
