Yup that quote totally fucked tons of weak hands.

Fuck'm.

Uf they want to dump their coins at the hint of a hiccup on a pioneering project like this then they deserve all they get.

Let Alex post whatever he likes.

This isn't a market pampering salon.

Agree. Thank you Alexgr for posting. We need all info and make our own decisions.

+1 , I'd rather someone tell me the truth, no matter how ugly it is.

Yeah, people sure overreact.... but that's how deer caught in the headlights are:

Hey guruvan, could it be that you are blocking incoming messages here on the bitcointalk forum?
I am trying to answer your private message, but bitcointalk keeps on telling me that

User 'guruvan' has blocked your personal message.

EDIT: Stupid question, Ofcourse you do, it says so in your signature, lol

Well, i'd always like to answer the same way that someone contacts me.

Curious about this. Perhaps my understanding of a 'block withholding attack' is inaccurate, but are you saying (bolded above) that if a block withholder finds a block they can keep the 25 BTC reward for themselves?

No, they can't keep the 25 BTC from blocks they find. They can send the block to the pool or throw it away. Only those two options.

so the 25 BTC are lost.

So what is the incentive here?
Is this like a goldfinger-tactic? Trying to increase the value of the bitcoins you already have by destroying other bitcoins?
Like the goldfinger guy from the james bond movie, who wanted to increase the value of his gold holdings by radioactively contaminating fort knox.

That's how random things are, people.

5 blocks found at 15 th (that was so awesome), but only one block at the 17th and 18th of june...

Today nothing yet, it's like we are punished for the 15 th.... like the bill for the party arrived today, lol

On average we should see 2 blocks a day... I hope.

I think we are still running within parameters, so to blame other people like multipool is completely irrational, I don't get what some people have in their head.... it's like they can't control their impulses, and will lash out at any opportunity.
2686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 19, 2014, 10:01:03 AM
In the meantime why not go to mintpal and vote for Devcoin to be added.

https://www.mintpal.com/voting

Place 23, we need 2x the votes we have now.... will take some time.  Sad
Yeah, we're competing with bots so bit of a challenge.

could be, could be. I just voted again.

In the meantime why not buy a little DVC... if only the pool I mine BTC would be a little bit luckier, I would buy a million DVC every day..... but the pool hasn't found a block in 24 hours: https://bitminter.com/blocks

What's up with a lot of pools lately? They talk about "blockwithholding" attacks that cause a lot of problems?

And right now, you can't trade a coin for goods or service that takes 1minute to 18hrs to make a transaction.

Yes, this is a terrible circumstance that must be fixed fast.

Mining is unbearable. I switched to buying Mazacoin directly (especially at those prices).

I just don't understand why a fix date for a fork isn't already on the table?

What is the next step`?
2688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: June 18, 2014, 09:27:02 AM

to hide a signal you need a lot of noise.
if every beep is a signal there is no privacy.

so to build a working privacy-setup,
you need to make it obligatory.

only if noise and signal comes in the same stream
there will be obfuscation.

I get it, but if I learned one thing in the little cryptography that I studied it's:
security thru obscurity is the worst kind of security.

"Hiding among noise" is not a very good concept.
We will know that we have good mathematical security when we can transact in plain sight, and no longer need to hide, and NSA will STILL not be able to make sense of it.

What fantastic times we live in! I am looking forward to the next breakthrus in anonymity.... will it come from darkcoin? I hope so.
I believe that masternodes open a very large door of possibilities, and could be asigned a lot of different "jobs" in the future, maybe even different jobs, not all of them doing the same thing etc...   Wink

Kristov Atlas: "... the anonymity provided by darkcoin right now is fairly limited"

He's little bit sceptical about darkcoin lately, but he says it's all about what future developments darkcoin will have.
So he hasn't yet made up his mind, he's just a little sceptical. That's ok, we should always be.

I repeat myself, DarkSend is a feature. If you chose to buy a TV that integrates some new technologies do you consider this as a form of coercion ?

Absolutely, if a console tracks my eye movement claiming that it's the cool new game control method... I would completely feel coerced when this eye tracker keeps on checking me while I am NOT gaming.

I fail to see your point, if we use your example DarkSend permits on the contrary to protect your privacy. It's like saying "I don't like cash because I'm forced to be anonymous".

Look, I like privacy. I just always assumed that it was something I could switch on and off with darkcoin. I liked that idea.

If this shouldn't be possible in the future anymore (although I had the impression that until now (testphase etc) IT WAS possible to have both systems coexist) than I only hope that before dark send becomes mandatory it also becomes fully open source, or else I quit.  Cool

That's basically the reason for my concern... If I am forced into a closed system my support ends.

I admit that I have not yet set up a masternode, so maybe that's were my ignorance stems from. If a completely functioning masternode system needs the participation of every node (wallet), then I am ok with that, but only if it becomes fully open sourced.

how much size this coin blockchain contains now ?

>250 Mbyte or so...

Thanks for saying that. I understand that we have a large trolling problem here, but I am just asking questions.

Anonymity cannot work without DarkSend being enabled at all times, there is no way around this. I hit ignore on this ignorant troll.

Sure, if you decide to stay anonymous all the time, Anonymity will work fine for you.
But why does it expose YOU when I keep using darkcoin without darksend.

This doesn't make sense.

Then you have free privacy, which you did not ask for but also did not pay for. You have not been disadvantaged. Strip naked at home: Buy litecoin.

Look, with darkcoin, I always thought I was investing in a cloaking device.... you see, like in predator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luZklMqLgDs

I didn't know that I would be forced to be invisible forever (?). That's like being in the shoes of this poor guy (memoirs of an invisible man): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEeHNzGFMZo

Do you guys start to see the difference?

What if I want to start a donation address and I like to show the amount of recieved donations to everybody?

Then use a different crypto. Darkcoin wasn't invented to offer transparency it was invented to offer opacity.

What if I want to keep my income private ? Then our choices conflict. They can only be resolved by a diversity of actual crypto networks which is exactly what we do have.

I don't see why both things can't coexist.

Suppose 1 million people use the darksend feature and only two people have it disabled.
I don't get how the million people will have LESS privacy if a few people walk around "naked".
Ofcourse the "naked" guys will not associate with the dark ones, and they will mutually shun each other. Naturally, but there is truly no reason why everybody should be forced to wear clothes.

If I understood the masternode system correctly, it is an additional infrastructure put on top of a normal BTC kind transaction system.

Use a different crypto? What if only darkcoin provides the price stability I am looking for? What if I like darkcoin simply for the reason that it has a stable price development?

2697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: June 18, 2014, 02:55:26 AM
Choice is always good. Coercion is always bad.
No it isn't. In this sector, choice is BAD, coercion is good.

The choice you have is to use another network. The whole point of privacy would be lost if it was optional. That's the huge advantage DRK has over anything else.

What's the point of using the Darkcoin network to keep your finances private if every bit of income you receive is transparent to all and sundry ?

If somebody **chooses** to use the DRK network because they wanted totally financial privacy, then that choice can only be done justice to by hiding their income as well as their expenditure.
Your suggestion is tantamount to forcing people to be smart... I don't have to explain my stance on that. ;-)

Exactly. That's like government declaring war on drugs, or breaching into our privacy for our own good.
"We have to declare those plants illegal and put everyone in prison, because smoking it might cause health problems, so we'd rather cause you healthproblems DIRECTLY by putting you in prison and ruin you financially."  Grin  /sarc

I really don't need anyone to force me to do something, even if he thinks that it is the best for everybody.

Face it, when you are being forced to do something, you can rest assured that you will recieve a crappy service in return.

Coercion should never be necessary. This is a mindtrick to make you comply with things you would NEVER AGREE WITH voluntarily (like paying Taxes).

Just let people use Darkcoin the way they see fit.

OFCOURSE most people will use the dark send feature. I would. Probably... not with all my wallets though...
What if I want to start a donation address and I like to show the amount of recieved donations to everybody?

+1
And I would not use the word "coercion" because it's simply one of the main features of the coin, an innovation.

Coercion + closed source will not bode well for darkcoin.
So I hope they won't dare to release an enforced darksend version while STILL keeping the source closed, because that would basically cause the coins value to drop like a stone. (IMHO)

Then I would really feel like having bought an apple product.... making me feel that "jail is cool"  Angry

So, again, is this official that the dark send feature will be mandatory in the future?
2699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: June 18, 2014, 02:24:27 AM

I just noticed...

Coercion, slight change, CoerCoin!

The name for government-run crypto of the future...

The Book of Revelation just got real...

Coercoin, this is genious. But, Let's not give the central scrutinizers of the gubbermint any more ideas!!!

Although since we all know how orwellian the government is when it comes to naming things, they would probably call it FreedomCoin!

You know, like as in : "I am from the government, and I am here to HELP!"

DarkSend will eventually be the only way, when it is open sourced.  The only reasons why it isn't now is two fold, the limitation of <10 coins and the fact that it isn't in the open source part of the code.

You mean, everyone will be forced to use the darksend feature?
Is this official? I thought I would always have the choice.
Choice is always good. Coercion is always bad.
