2681  Other / Off-topic / Re: [BETA] tor sshfs, a secure filesystem on the tor network. on: May 04, 2011, 07:34:42 PM
this is going to kill tor, thats not what it's for, use i2p for higher bandwidth needs.
it's not going to kill tor. if its are going to, i will set a bandwide limiter up, but i don't think it will.
2682  Other / Off-topic / [BETA] tor sshfs, a secure filesystem on the tor network. on: May 04, 2011, 07:07:38 PM
HI! im am needing bata testers for a filesystem in the tor network.
it will be using sftp, so its mountable with sshfs Cheesy

just to try the idea out... so if you want to try it PM me, i will need a username and password, you want to use with the service.
i will take 0.1btc for a month.

of course i will in the future make a gui interface for signing up(and maybe to access the files).
but right now my concern is how it will work, or if there are any intrested.

i only have 40gb of space so don't upload big files.
2683  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How does wallet.dat update? on: May 04, 2011, 04:58:56 PM
will i have 20 btc in my wallet or 400?
and why?
it depends...

the wallet is contaning the private keys. each private key is a 'account number' so if you backup your wallet.dat, and only are recving money accounts in the wallet, your wallet grows bigger. but if your keep changing account numbers, the private key will not be in your backuped wallet.dat and your money will not be there.
2684  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Beta GLBSE stock market Open for trading on: May 04, 2011, 10:26:27 AM

 File "C....\blackmarket.py, line 10, in <module>
   from M2Crypto.util import passphrase_callback as prompt_password
Import Error: No module named M2Crypto.util"

can anyone help?

I'm currently looking for a Django freelancer. I pay either in BTC or either in Euros if the freelancer as VAT. Contact me with your Django experience.
i got a bit experience in django, but i am not so good with webpages, so you have to(or have somebody else to) design the templates, and i will write the code Smiley

Thanks, now the ordering worked perfectly!

I tried starting bitcoind, but it seems it won't run there Sad
Code:
./bitcoind: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by ./bitcoind)
./bitcoind: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by ./bitcoind)
I've checked and yum tells me that libstdc is in fact installed. Any ideas? Thanks!
its becuase you are using the old debian image... use ubuntu 10.04 insted Smiley
you can reinstall the vps here: https://vps.cinfu.com:5656/ login with the creds. you got in your email.

liked the advice? please consider donating Smiley

2)http://coinpal.ndrix.com/ or i can give you 0.05btc, just need an address Cheesy

Funny coincidence, but a good lesson naelh8... you should give kokjo and I each different addresses.

Then you know where each incoming payment is coming from.

only if he is giving us them in 'privacy', else i could still pay to your address, and you to mine

Yep, maybe just label one address as "Donations from forum", paste the address here, and then not use it for anything else.

Wait.. that means that I can "have" more than one address at time
that the files does not connect my money to any type of "account" and that it is possible to give as fiew as o.o5.
so next question is what is the mininum coin fracion?
techinaly: 0.00000001btc. practialy:0.01btc. and yes you can have as many as you like. your address is the hash of a public key, of which you have the private part. just like gpg/pgp: you can have as many as you like Cheesy
2692  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Physical challenge! Dare or double dare. on: April 30, 2011, 04:48:39 PM
I dare you make a sign that says on one side "Fuck banks - use Bitcoin" and has bitcoins logo + bitcoin.org on the other and walk around your town all day long. I'll give you 1BTC if you can provide timestamped pics every hour for 8 hours where you are holding this sign in public places with people around. Extra 1BTC if we get a video recording of you holding this sign and shouting: "People wake the fuck up!"

I realize the price is a bit low for the task at hand, but that's all I can give you atm. Besides others may be along soon to up this if they think it's a good idea
i like to give 1 btc extra too for the video and the walking around. Cheesy

Hi, I think I'm boing to buy some bitcoins, but I would like to have some more information:
1) I have installed the client, it correctly say I have 0 bitcoins and no operation.
How can I be sure everything is working correctly?
Where the "ubercripted" file with bitcoins is saved? can I preserverve it using online services like Dropbox?

2) how to buy a little amount of bitcoins? something like 10, you know, just for starting.

Thanks, bye!
1) in ~/.bitcoin/wallet.dat but i would not use dropbox un encrypted, just to easy to steal your money. Smiley

2695  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can the Hashes from block generation be useful? on: April 29, 2011, 08:55:55 PM
BitLotto finds them useful!  Grin Starting June 1, they'll be used to generate the numbers for the lottery.
Nice. thats good. Cheesy
2696  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can the Hashes from block generation be useful? on: April 29, 2011, 07:32:39 PM
can they for example be used in cryptographic research, or anything else useful?

or are they just completely useless?

I answered this in another thread.  Block hashes serve as the hashing community's signature attesting to the completeness of the block chain.  The strength of the hash on a block and its subsequent blocks is what gives receivers confidence that their coins are not double-spent.  By hash strength, I mean the "number of zeroes" or difficulty score.  They are not useless at all... until someone breaks double SHA-256.

i know that. but anything not bitcoin related?

think it nice too Cheesy i already brought one, so now i can make. the tor website we talked about. Cheesy

If you can automate that through a web interface that would be fantastic.
well i already have a half very hackish untested api for it Cheesy
