eerrrrr   shift mining   Sad..  rather be paid like here or even here https://westhash.com/index.jsp

Will they allow you to mine for yourself without buying or selling your hashing power?

Have to do either the way its sets up , i don't think you can solo mine if you mean that it's either sell or buy, that i saw i sell . I guess it's some thing you have to like i like how the pay works all valid shares pay no matter what, if you sell the buy part is you bid for the top spot for a day or two  and then use all the hash at any pool that can handle it but you point there site at that pool so I'm guessing you can do both at the same time sell and buy haven't try . if you buy and using some one else miner getting paid it might matter  how blocks find are being handled . that about the only down side so far i see .
2762  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 25, 2014, 07:11:23 PM
JUST A THOUGHT:

IF someone has an extra TH to go solo, it might be worth putting on BitSolo to get all 25 blocks.  The pool splits the rest.  One miner with just under 1 TH found 4 blocks in the month of August.  Can you imagine?  Over $40,000 USD in the month of August with approximately 1 TH.  WHAT LUCK!

I saw that when i went looking at  solo mining just wish i had that kind of power to let just one set there.  but i just started and got to build it up .

2764  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: September 25, 2014, 04:51:09 PM
nice so far with my four  S1 run in this  has paid nicely to  me selling the hash , buying it does look very temping.

to day i go pick up my S3 which i was stupid how i bought it I lost a fair amount not being able to get the coins fast enough to up grade 2 S1, if it had gone as i planed  I got my S3 last week not to day i would have three S3 run  now i just have 4 S1 still . live and learn no more per orders for me unless there direct from the merchant , local or from another state per orders take to long + they test and during that test  they make money and waste my time, in mean time they don't offer faster shipping tell me they won't. IMO sense bitmain stuff does run so well i was willing to take that risk with no testing and faster shipping then wait a week more not  needed and now i have to play catch up and hope the S1 kits sty low cash wise till i get at least one and the S3 is good even after  three days of  tests if they even did it that long..  so next time I'll just wait till i see a vendor with it in stock or order direct . and to make it worse  i asked to have the  delivery  Redirected to a pick up  location just found out if I  had left how it was i would have it now . now I have to wait  till 4 pm est then go pick it up i forgot most of those services make there last few stops for the day at pick up locations  SO that whole fuck up was totally all me . but the  + side during that mess i found this service .

selling hash so far the pay out is awesome to me for my speed I don't care much if I find a block that will be nice but how they pay and the amount  make buying hash look so temping .

BITCOIN AT RISK: MAJOR VULNERABILITY DISCOVERED IN GNU BASH

dangerThe National Vulnerability Database has issued a critical security advisory about a major vulnerability in GNU Bourne Again Shell (Bash). GNU Bash is the command-line shell used in most operating systems based on Linux and Unix – including MacOS.

A Red Hat security advisory said:

“This issue is especially dangerous as there are many possible ways Bash can be called by an application,”

The GNU Bash vulnerability was first discovered by Stephane Schazelas. Arstechnica writes:

… is related to how Bash processes environmental variables passed by the operating system or by a program calling a Bash-based script. If Bash has been configured as the default system shell, it can be used by network–based attackers against servers and other Unix and Linux devices via Web requests, secure shell, telnet sessions, or other programs that use Bash to execute scripts.

Bitcoin at Major Risk

This is not a Bitcoin Core vulnerability. However, Bitcoin Core is stopped and started via the bash shell and can also be interacted with, via the bash shell.

The bash vulnerability is at a lower level – in a command line shell that is used by almost every Linux operating system and some of it’s components. For example:

the Python language popen module calls a bash process by default
Apache‘s mod_cgi runs CGI scripts written in bash, or spawn bash subshells
OpenSSH is the standard method of remotely logging into a Linux host and, typically, spawns a bash shell for the logged in user
PHP scripts are not vulnerable to this bash exploit nor are shell scripts which do not export variables. However, this is little consolation and an immediate bash upgrade is required on any *nix system (see below).

Miners, exchanges and anyone else running Linux hosted Bitcoin nodes are looking at vulnerable systems – the bash vulnerability effectively opens access to the Bitcoin Core process and any Bitcoin wallets hosted on the system.

Most mining hardware built on firmware running Linux will have remote login available via OpenSSH. Check with the manufacturer for their security solution.

What To Do: Immediate Security Steps

Every Version of Bash Since 1994

This security vulnerability affects GNU Bash versions 1.14 (released in 1994) through to the most recent version 4.3, according to NVD. The pervasive use of bash on systems across the internet means that the vulnerability is as serious as the Heartbleed bug. If you run a Linux (or any *nix) system it is most definitely vulnerable – and has been since it’s first boot.

Package Upgrade Now!

Your Linux distribution’s package repository should contain a patched version of bash that fixes the vulnerability.

Upgrade bash as soon as possible
Store access and audit logs for forensic analysis (should it later become apparent someone accessing your system exploited the bash vulnerability)
Search for rootkits via chkrootkit and rkhunter – a sensible initial step on any system right now
Ubuntu Linux currently has a fixed version of bash in package bash_4.3-7ubuntu1.1

Note that the version number is still 4.3, but the -7 suffix indicates that the package version has been bumped following application of a security patch.

CCN
How Does The Exploit Work?

Like most programming languages the bash shell allows for the definition of functions. A bash environment variable can contain code and, therefore, functions. This vulnerability takes advantage of the fact that any string following a function declaration is executed when bash reads an environmental variable containing such a function declaration. For example:

$ env x='() { :;}; echo vulnerable' bash -c "echo this is a test"
vulnerable
this is a test

In a patched version of the bash shell the command injection attempt above has the following output:

patched GNU bash 4.3 output

Introshine gives some examples of how the exploit may be used in practice:

That’s pretty serious. Most of the attack vector hits pretty specific server-type scenarios. Or running crafted bash scripts.

The exception is the DHCP attack vector. I’ll explain: What this actually does is the following: There is a protocol called DHCP – it gives the devices in your network an IP address. Normally, this is the router/server in your LAN.

Some guy could be running a 2nd DHCP server in a public LAN that gives out non-valid addresses or even a non-valid one. Because DHCP is a broadcast, your client will talk to this rogue server when he is the fastest to reply. So you would not even notice, but can still use the internet fine because after DHCP is done, the DHCP server is no longer needed for internet/network to function.

He could include a variable (mostly used to deploy Proxy settings etc). with a rogue string included, that string can be executed because Bash is broken – hence he could:

- Copy the wallet.dat over
– If DHCP client runs as root (some distro’s): Infect the machine with a keylogger/virus/rootkit
– etc.

GNU/Linux users and other OS’ses: Be safe, check your update repo if CVE-2014-6271 has been patched. Be wary of unknown network, especially open networks near Bitcoin events or hacker spaces.

Btw, Trezor, Co-sign wallets like Greenaddress and cold wallet unaffected.

For more details see the Red Hat security advisory pertaining to this issue.

This story will be updated as relevant facts come to light.

Maybe why the Price seems to heading back down again ?. I'm gonna bookmark this news site it looks very up to date .

And people are buying these like crazy! Must be a real bargain. Maybe I should get in line after all.  Shocked

that the point they will .

well i need to let it go now and watch for deals look on at what might  be coming .

bitcoins are here to sty for many more years . it will have it ups and downs ,

cya I'll keep watching i know the cost of run in a business and it was or was  far more  then ever has been in china  in the US . and still is in the US .

When we compare the price of mining devices, we believe we should take all these factors into consideration.

1.   Cash cost
a)   Mining device sales price. This is the most obvious cost.
b)   Shipping cost. Shipping cost is trick, different shipping service will have different shipping time, and it will influence the time cost discussed in 2. Time cost.
c)   Incremental investment on PSU
d)   Tax: Some miners will have to pay VAT or other import tax.

2.   Time cost: We can estimate the time cost based on the projected gross mining revenue during the waiting time.
a)   Time on waiting period of pre-order. You know, shipping in two weeks.
b)   Time on shipping. Some shipping methods is much slower than our UPS shipping service, and the shipping time lost usually much larger the shipping cost we can save from choosing the slower carrier.

3.   Unstable cost: the unexpected downtime will cost the mining revenue. Usually a family miner will have full time job and family members to take care of. Hosting service will let the experts do the job.

S4+Umisoo Hosting has advantage on:
1) Shipping cost;
2) No PSU investment;
3) No VAT or import tax;
4) Pre-order waiting time cost is negligible
5) Shipping and deployment is seamless and fast.
6) S4 now has option for hosting.

According to our analysis frame, our S4 is still competitive against other options on the market if we take every factors into consideration for most of the miners around the world, assuming you have to buy PSU and electricity is not free.

Nothing against you all  but how much over that is mark  up and profit ? .

aaand the site is back up

Whats the average shipping cost to eastern USA?

well i found a while back its not what they say they do have a deal with customs and the US as to cost etc .

You  won't find or get the complete lay out of what it really might cost. but you can go here to get some idea what it might cost

One aspect that I like is the $200 coupon for existing S2 owners, with the intention to still have an upgrade in future (S6 kit?).

Although, this price should be the base price for everyone to be honest. Then this would be worth a gamble to some, rather than an instant 'no thanks' at the current prices.

BITMAIN - Please rethink the additional postage charge  at the very least!

post age really  i know how that works you can bet they have a deal on   how they  ship i have bought a lot of stuff from china and the shipping was unbelievable  low to me. then i found out they made some kind of deal with US custom etc etc  same ol thing .
2771  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 25, 2014, 01:52:53 PM
Seriously, people need to stop buying expensive machine.. look at other manufacturer they still sell no matter how expensive it is..

I am now i really thought they meant what they said in there about so far up to now they seem to.

but from what other says it's not that cutting edge and nothing stands out about it .
it's mostly geared to the  very rich or one willing to shell out that cash . i may just look at a spondoolies i was hoping the S4 be would be lower then the  spo  and  a lot more efferent .

I may even buy one of this now and peace it to gather sense I like building stuff ,

They may just leave pricing as it is until they are done mining with them as this is obviously what they are doing...

TBH I still think batch 1 will sell out within hours as some people will still buy no matter what they price these at.

It will they know it i won't be buying one i have the cash for it to no coins but cash in the bank . at that price and  the things you all say about the stats make it  less appealing to buy but its end game so they will buy it because of  that a lone and Bitmains knows it.
2773  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 25, 2014, 05:10:30 AM
so four s1 upgrade kits = .92BTC and you can get those s1s for about $80 each, used of course, which are consuming about 1400w and be close to 2Th....right? Am i missing something?

S1 upgrade kits aren't available right now. I ordered some a day ago, but looks like they are out of stock. Says "up coming".

I asked was told in a email discounted went to by one with  bitcoins today some one told me a how to buy one i was to late .

they cleaned the site up some and dropped the S4 price so well see .

its a good  thing when every one stands up it does work they could have last a lot on this one and may still once we see what it does and how much.   that's the  really big question  how much.

If anything there prices  should be lower if they follow there own policy.

Boy I really threw a monkey wrench into this party heh ?

Every time I change pools I have that effect, I'm like a "cooler" at the casinos.
The guy they have on hand to screw things up when a customer starts winning too much.
I'm running on such a slim margin now that I'm chasing the last BTC...
But sadly it is not coming... soon the power to BTC ratio will win and we all loose.
Such is life, easy come easy go !
Bob

I'll never quit mining.   There's always profit in it.

However this is pathetic.   So far I don't even think we have had single block all day.   Tongue.    Its either going over 7ph/s or w.e and we go mad slow.     Or somebody is bringing us terrible luck.  Or you really dumb pool hoppers.  Hopping won't help you make money faster or more efficient mining.

This is lame though Tongue oh well it'll pick back up again, it always does.    But i doubt its not going to get any  better before the diff rise in about 1/2  day to 1 day.

We have had 3 payouts so far today. I, not being extremely versed in many aspects, assume that means we have had 3 so far today?
I can google it I suppose, but what is the benefit if you specifically find a block. I have 1 found somewhere when I first joined. Just wondering if there is a bonus or just a stat for you to follow? Also what does it mean TX Fees + VarDiff? I am guessing VarDiff, is variable Difficulty based on your hash rate? Just a shot in the very dark Smiley...Dont flame me please just trying to learn as I go. Thanks in advance for the serious replies.

Its good to ask

what tx fees is or means i know but  I'm still learning the terms , there is a lot i can't explain in more  simple terms i some times mess lead because i don't  understand it well enough to explain it so it  makes sense .

I know its a coincidence but really it seams like every time we go over 7ph the blocks slow to a crawl.  All the pool hoppers need to quit they are funking up the mojo.

JT

I stay here or leave a miner on this pool all the time or try to  .but when its gets to slow I'm not gonna keep all my hash power here.

I was just saying.  What i have noticed over the last couple months is when we hit it big the hash rate goes up and the block rate go down.  Gets slow for a day or so then the hash rate drops and the block rate increases.  I have tried hopping a couple times but what i find is i stay here i get better payouts in the long run.

JT

and i come right back after  that  . i have seen no better place to go but here during that time .  if i can hit TH/payout in less time during  that time and i do  at other pools but the min i see this pool  hit pay dirt so to speak I'm back .

The sad part is some will pay that much seen it  to much in my life to the point its become a joke, they think it's a good price then a week later the price drops or some one make some thing better for less or some one made some thing all most as good and dropped  there price even  lower  then all you see for may be three weeks is  how they got screwed  etc ..GO figure .

The opposite could also happen: bitcoin goes to $700 and they RISE the price to $2000.

sad part to some stuff won't and  will still be cheaper.

my way around that wait. Smiley .
