2761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bit-Pay introduces OpenCart payment extension on: October 02, 2011, 01:09:58 AM
I got that when my host was not allowing outbound traffic to bit-pay on a certain port.  I had to request to my webhost to open the port.  Bit-pay tech support was very helpful during my install.

Having a second machine would not be too hard for most stores if it saved them a few percent on some sales.

I doubt most merchants would want a second machine just for Bitcoin. Why spend $250 for another machine when you could just have Bitcoin capability on your cell phone for free?

It needs to be integrated or it will not be used. I understand the difficulties in doing so. Someone should be able to come up with something.

Due to the strict device signing used by credit card companies I really doubt this could happen.  They don't want to help bitcoin along at all.

If you can use a smartphone POS solution that is great, and I think many merchants will go that route.  But the more choices the better, and a machine like this one would pay for itself in one year with $400 a month in bitcoin transactions instead of credit card.  Clearly someone who does little volume won't use this but an established store with real volume would find it of value.  It could be more locked down then a smartphone application.

2764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OccupyLA on 10/1 !! We will be there in Bitcoin Attire! Financial Revolution! on: October 01, 2011, 03:09:54 PM
Ok,
I got a private meeting with the financial committee tonight at the GA, and we discussed taking bitcoin as donations.
They are running a background check on me, and then it looks like I will be heading the bitcoin donations dept. Smiley
The best part is, it is highly encouraged to buy actual products for the occupiers, so this should allow for the use of bitcoins as donations and should spike the economy because some people will buy products for the protesters with bitcoins!!

We will post some videos of tonight's discussions soon on youtube.

Please, if you are coming out, post here and let everyone know. We will need bitcoiners to explain the benefits of competing currencies and the added benefits of crypto currencies and decentralization.

If you are planning on continuing into next week, on Tuesday I can ship out all kinds of stickers and a few shirts if you pay the postage.  Unfortunately priority mail takes a few days. Express mail could get it there fast enough.  The QR code sticker is one of the better items and I could give you 100 of them.  The QR sticker leads to bitcoin.org and has no advertising for me on it.  Look at my website to see it.
2765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Casascius Bitcoin POS system on: October 01, 2011, 03:05:04 PM
I was able to incorporate qrencode into the source, and got it to print the QR codes on the printer, as well as show one on the screen.  This is the first time I have ever made a VeriFone POS machine render a QR code, but it seems to have worked pretty well.

I pushed the relevant code to github.

I could obtain a vx570 in about a month and help do testing.   Are there any other models that run similar code?

It's too bad that you are using stock photos for everything and didn't include any pics of the actuall products because I am in Canada and would have bid the shit out of nearly everything posted under that Ebay user profile.......

Fishy or not, stock photos don't provide a whole lot of proof of ownership.
I would not have any worries with buying these other then price.

As both a seller and buyer on ebay I can tell you now the buyer is pretty damn safe on any transaction paid with paypal.  I do not fear buying anymore other then temporary inconvenience with a bad product.  Paypal will side with the buyer 95% of the time.

As a seller on ebay, the risk is a buyer ripping you off.  That can and does happen.
2767  Economy / Lending / Re: USD loan in BTC $500-$3000 6% annual rate on: October 01, 2011, 02:43:42 PM
What's the benefit of this arrangement?  Getting more bitcoins in circulation?

Me saving money.  My interest going into the community instead of to a big bank.
2768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Casascius Bitcoin POS system on: October 01, 2011, 04:26:58 AM
The VX570's are about $250 refurbed on ebay.  While it would be ideal to have the same machine do standard credit cards, it would probably not be able to do them as Casacius says above.  Having a second machine would not be too hard for most stores if it saved them a few percent on some sales.

I like your ideas on the qr printout and ways of operation.

This does seem like a large project.
2770  Economy / Lending / Re: USD loan in BTC $500-$3000 6% annual rate on: October 01, 2011, 02:40:10 AM
No, I am paying more.  I will need to encure fees though to do the transaction such as possibly buying coins pay back loan.
2771  Economy / Services / Re: Design me a logo for BitcoinBling.com contest 2BTC minimum on: October 01, 2011, 12:39:02 AM
Think bling!

Logo does not need to have .com in it.  I will need a vector file such as .AI or .SVG.  I will consider other formats.

I will give 2 btc to the creator of the one I decide to use after getting the file.  I may pick more then one!

Only 2 btc!??  Sad  min 10 btc!!!

Maybe 2 BTC is too low but I do not think I need to go to 10.

Doubled.

Pretty detailed!  Does this exist or are you setting specifications?

Anything in between.  Up to $3000 if multiple people.

I can understand not buying new equipment, as it really is a tough gamble to pay off...  But once equipment is running and making BTC, I just can not imagine with average electricity costs that it makes sense to turn them off.  You would need 30 cent a KW/h electricity to be unprofitable.
2775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OccupyLA on 10/1 !! We will be there in Bitcoin Attire! Financial Revolution! on: September 30, 2011, 10:00:15 PM
Indefinitely
I can not mail out anything until Tuesday.  I would mail stuff if you paid shipping but it may be too late depending on how long you go.
2776  Economy / Lending / USD loan in BTC $500-$3000 12% annual rate on: September 30, 2011, 09:57:15 PM
Something different.  I have a credit card loan that I am paying off and would be interested if it can be done through the bitcoin community.

I would take the loan and pay down the credit card. Each month I would pay 1/10 of the USD principle plus 1% interest payable in BTC at the rate at the time the payment is due.

Not sure if the community is ready for this yet, but if it was, all of the interest that is going to the bank would stay in the community and I would have a better rate.

How many bitcoin geeks does it take to change a light bulb....?

I have a second line, but you only asked for one.

None.  They bought the cheapest fans possible, and they were a closeout with pink LED's.  They have enough rigs to light the room.
2779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impressive bitcoin one liners for non bitcoiners on: September 30, 2011, 04:46:51 AM
Or a merger of the above two:

Bitcoin will do to banks what the internet did to travel agents.
