Anon, could you include a link in the Asset description with a realtime NXT price for 1 oz silver? E.g. get a current price, divide by bitcoin-price, divide by nxt-price. Then display that. That would be great...

I don't know how to do that but ill give 1000 nxt to the first person who can give me a little piece of code that I can insert into my web page that would maintain a constant, real time, updated price of silver in nxt. if someone wants to take this on, please use bitstamp for the price of bitcoin and bter for the price of nxt.

Hello is this offer still valid?
Do you define the silver price by your own
or you want this to be dynamic too (from real time source)

dynamic too

Looks awesome, good work Anon.  Question about Asset.  Are you selling the silver Asset tokens yourself?  I don't see that you are issuing the Assets in the sell category.  Or am I confused?

No I do not sell them myself. I promised that I would not sell the assets myself so that the people who send me silver for storage have a better chance at making a profit. If you would like to acquire tokens directly from me than you may do so by sending me silver bullion in the mail.

first 2 bars ready to ship to the first person who can acquire 10 tokens Grin

pictures will be posted shortly

I'm curious. The .1 you sent me, what does that equate to. .1 oz?

it sure does.

so how many do I need to get a bar?

-bm

10 troy ounces is the minimum order. i set it like that because i wanted to make it so simple that customers could just buy the tokens, send them to me along with their postal address and get silver. that means shipping has to be built in. which means there is a built in transfer of value from people who make smaller orders to people who make larger orders. i cant do away with that entirely without actually charging for shipping, but by setting the minimum order to 10 I mitigate it substantially. That way i can keep things super simple and my customers never even have to think about shipping.

ya that's one way to do it, probably better way is to just charge a fee if you want to cash out.

currently, your OZ is trading at 22.849 usd, which is well above spot price 19.42 usd (atow).  It's going to be hard to market that.

-bm

charge a fee in what? tell them that they have to understand some arcane fee structure in order to acquire silver? tell them that they have to send me 11 ounces of silver tokens inorder to aquire 10 ounces of silver? or that they have to send nxt also? im trying to make this simpler and more user friendly than any service that has ever come before it.

yes the price is high because right now there is only one seller. monopolies tend to yield high prices. more sellers will be coming online shortly. there are packages in transit that just haven't arrived yet.

bullionvault for instance does it this way.  If you want out, there is a fee.  This model seems to work.

-bm

its good to know of another way in which my service is different Smiley

really 10 ounces is not that much. i dont think very many people are buying less than 10 ounces of bullion at a time online anyway.

also i may experiment with a fee structure for international orders. ill have to do something because this model definately breaks down for internatonal orders. its either fees, a higher minimum, both, or no international orders.

now offering escrow for this project.

Be prepared to sign messages using one of the addresses you send from. DO NOT send from an address that you do not personally control I.E. an exchange. If you do send from an address that you do not have personal control over than i can not guarantee an ideal outcome for you. You may lose your bitcoins. Some problems have arisen with the model of just releasing funds without question upon customer request so I will simply be playing it by ear and using common sense arbitration on this one. Example: If you ask for a refund before altcoins are released than i will give refund no questions asked. If however the dev has already sent you altcoins than you will have to return them or provably destroy them before you may recieve a refund. If a couple weeks pass after the projects completion where you fail to make contact with me than I will release the bitcoins to the devs. Common sense stuff. Also you guys use some common sense too, don't send bitcoins directly to some random dude on the internet with-out escrow, EVER!

if you agree to these terms than you may send to:

Right, got the asset and the NXT you sent me. Thanks very much. Appreciate the advice, I registered an alias for my account.
You are very welcome

Also, if I put a "name" on my account, is the public in the block chain, or is that just a local name?

I do have x amount of silver bullion . I assume if I send it to you, you will send me a certificate on the NXT asset chain. Then I could sell some/all of that bullion? Is that correct. If so, what are the fees to warehouse the bullion?
Yes you have it exactly right. There is no fee at this time. Fees will be coming in the future.

Ok, but I saw you are melting the bullion and making your own bars. I have beautiful 10oz art bars from Sunshine Mining. I'd hate to see them melted down.

Yes i wouldn't send anything that carries a premium as a collectable.

im a big advocate of and investor in nxt. download the client and play around with it. just by playing around with the client for a bit you will get a sense for what awesome work our community is doing. http://nxt.org/client-download/ tell me your address and ill send you some nxt and some of my silver bullion warehouse receipt assets.

i have create a nxt wallet. account id: NXT-3GSC-2MAM-6KBC-2XAQU.
but this coin send message need fee. sending e-mail need no fee.what's nxt coin's advantage?

The importance of arbitrary message is for things like asset exchange and alias registration. Those are actually done via arbitrary message in the background. Since it was already there there was no reason not to go ahead and allow people to use it for sending messages. Its no replacement for email thats for sure but it is usueful for example if you want to contact someone who owns an alias and he hasnt posted any contact information on the internet. Also its useful if you run a business and you want people to be able to contact you but only if its actually important. Other various things.

As for whats the advantage thats a very long and complicated answer but ill try to make it short and simple. Essentially what we have is very good security at low cost on a platform that is as open as possible to new layers of innovation built on top of the core. This doesnt sound like much but its actually a much bigger deal than it sounds. With bitcoin security is actually very very expensive (mostly this cost is born by savers in the form of inflation but not visible due to increasing demand) and in my estimation actually less secure than nxt even with that higher cost. Also its not a very open platform, infact the bitcoin devs have been somewhat non cooperative with the mastercoin devs.

you know im surprised by how little interest there is in this thread. i cant even believe it. its weird.

I'm interested but not really sure what the NXT asset exchange is. I just started looking at NXT and as you know, reading any coin thread here is 99% noise about how it's a scam. Hard to get real good info.

How is NXT connected to a Silver Certificate?

play around with the client for a bit and you will know whether we are scammers or a legitimately dedicated community Smiley

nxt is the blockchain that is used to do accounting for my silver certificates. i could have done it on counterparty or mastercoin also but nxt is superior.

Got a chance to get the wallet and get an account set up. I'm not sure how to perform the step to send a transaction to strongly secure my account without any balance.

Anyway... if your offer is still open my ID is: 18029264512769719643

Also, what do you charge to warehouse silver? Is that what your business is? Do you also warehouse rare coins?

sure ill send you some.

to secure your wallet you just need to make a transaction. since it costs the same to register an alias as it does to send 1 nxt back to yourself, you may as well register an alias to secure your account. just select the aliases tab and in the top right you will see "register alias"

i don't sell warehouse receipts. i only issue them to people who put silver in my warehouse. if you want a receipt you will have to buy one from one of them. they will probably be going up tomorrow on the asset exchange. everything thats on the asset exchange right now is only from my giveaway.

No i cant warehouse things like rare coins because they are rare. i need homogeneous goods. i could do something like wheat or rice or copper because 1 unit is interchangeable for another. with say paintings, each is unique, no 2 are interchangeable for eachother. the same is true of rare coins, though to a lesser extent, still enough of an extent to make it so that there is no point to run a business like this around them though.
