2781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC goes below 30k after US inflation rate reports on: June 12, 2022, 04:33:31 AM
Technically btc should go up with news linked to inflations in fiat markets because logically Bitcoin's point becomes stronger with every bit of depriciation in dollar.
I think so too and I believe what happened to price around the time of the news is nothing but market correction. Come to think of it, Bitcoin has remained below $30k for few days now before the news. So, it's nothing much apart from the OP zooming in on the graph on the hourly TF and that made it seemingly alarming.

Quote
I think this was just a market reaction to the news immediately
No, I don't think it was. If anything, Bitcoin is taken as a safe haven for the troubled dollar. I think it was a mere coincidence that Bitcoin price dropped at that time. That's not even a severe drop compared to what we've seen in the past week. A check shows that Bitcoin did $26,700 a few days ago while it's still trading around $27,500 at the moment.
2782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi came out with bitcoin2.0 would you use it? let`s say he used his keys on: June 11, 2022, 12:29:16 PM
I would use it, if he (or any other person/group) came up with another revolutionary idea, which would make Bitcoin obsolete. It wouldn´t matter to me, if he signed with his pgp key or early private keys or not. It´s the code that counts.
This OP was made three years ago, precisely in April 2019, and since then no one has come forth as Satoshi till date. I think the whole Satoshi identity thing isn't going to be resolved. It's buried in the sand now. BTW, there's a crypto called BTC2; as in Bitcoin2, but I don't know if it's trading now. When it debuted a few years ago, I thought it would've the same potential as Bitcoin. How wrong I was, looking back now.
2783  Other / Meta / Re: Decline of Marketplace activity/trading on: June 11, 2022, 10:34:29 AM
It's unfortunate that a lot of people get their information on crypto from YT instead of, say, bitcointalk
I've wondered this too myself but then I remembered how I got on this forum. It was through a search online that led me to CMC and then I clicked on a link that brought me to this forum. I think there's no much visibility for BTT on YouTube, that's why.

Gonna get slapped with red trust for refusing escrow..
He never comes back..
True. Sadly true and this I believe hasn't helped advance this forum in a better light. These aggrieved users will then exit the forum with a negative opinion of it.

This is as legit of a bitcointalk user/poster as it gets..

7 merit!!
7!
This is why I've continued to maintain that meriting posts is subjective. Users don't always merit posts because they find them that constructive. Most times, it's from bias towards particular users they're familiar with. Thanks for finding that user and meriting them.
2784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you care when you wear a commercial Signature? on: June 11, 2022, 07:39:52 AM
I know I am not eligible for any signature campaign.
That's not entirely true. You can get in. There are a significant few campaigns that do accept Member rank, especially ones managed by Yahoo. He tends to consider that rank more than any other manager.

Quote
Because I saw a few signature participants (1xbit) got tagged because they promoted scam websites. I think this topic will be helpful for other new members too.
I observe a level of insensitivity with those who promote 1xBit. I would never advertise for a project that I know has a scam accusation hanging on its neck. You've to consider those who've been brutalized financially by the inordinate activities of such projects and try to show solidarity to them and then the project has to make it right with them first by resolving the issue. In this regard, 1xbiy failed to right the wrong but went ahead with its campaign here. That's the height of nonchalance and insensitivity.
2785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey are funding a free Bitcoin education program in the US on: June 11, 2022, 06:39:46 AM
Due to the belief that Bitcoin is a get quick rich scheme in some quarters
Those who believe it's a Get Rich Quick Scheme should relate their experiences with us, and they should be truthful in doing that. Let's compare and contrast the experiences. Many have been burnt for accepting this irrational belief.

Quote
some Bitcoiners have been very skeptical to introduce it to some friends and colleagues.
Well, skepticism would depend on the angle the person wants to introduce Bitcoin to his friends. When I came into this industry in 2017, I was all over the place talking to friends about Bitcoin even when I didn't know much about it. It was like singing a strange song to them. Most of them didn't get interested. Fast forward to the present, they want to get into it now. On this I will say, if you get to tell someone about Bitcoin and they don't show any interest; don't bother them. Just leave them, at their own time they will come around it.

BTW, I like the fact that Jack isn't any more the CEO of Twitter at a time this is happening. Otherwise, scammers are going to latch at this to claim to be Jack on Twitter to offer fake crypto giveaway. Even at that, idiots are still going to fall prey if anyone dangles a free giveaway before them.
2786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Self before asset on: June 10, 2022, 07:05:53 PM

Investment just for the sake of its literary meaning doesn't profit anyone anything. It simply means one is investing because others are doing it and not because one truly understands the rudiment of investment. A better way to start with investment is DYOR first.

The trend is no respecter of any analyst or speculator. Get the skill and save the bill
But of course, there are those who ride on its back to profit. I think trend respects those who understand its direction. The only people it disciplines are those who swim against it.
2787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason Why People(Mostly Newbies) Fall Victim To Scams Easily. on: June 10, 2022, 12:34:15 PM
Make sure to have a long term investment plan, and while you invest and wait, you can trade actively on the side. Could be P2P or actual spot or futures/margin trading on the side to make little profits on the way up.
That's easier said than done. One can only hodl long term if one has a steady source of income and not the regular kind of invest today and then expect it to give a nice ROI overnight so one can harvest it. Another is your advice on trading. That's not an advice for newbies because trading is not an easy thing to venture into. The complexities of trading, whether spots or futures, have led so many who saw how simple it looks from far to burn their capital and went back to square one. Trading is a specialized field and should be given its due attention.
2788  Other / Meta / Re: Can I create a self moderated topic on this forum? (in the gambling section) on: June 10, 2022, 10:27:13 AM
Creating a Self-moderated threads only to shade free speech or individual views on a two side to a story issue would be fowl play as it hides the truth.
I was going to say that but then OP could be needing a self moderated thread for other reasons apart from censorship. Spamming and trolling are major reasons most thread openers choose self moderation. OP, if your reason is anything like others insinuated then you're in for a big shock because no one will take you seriously; especially if the content of your thread is on money or reputation of another user.
2789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before Bitcoin education, teach your children cyber security education. on: June 10, 2022, 09:11:41 AM
I was teaching them about the operations of Bitcoin but I observed that they were always fascinated when I discuss wallets. Immediately they saw the worth of the Bitcoin I own in Dollars they crammed the value. Once they observed that Bitcoin has appreciated and the Dollar worth have increased, they would celebrate and hug themselves because daddy have made more money.
Nice intention but wrong move. But of course, that's what you should expect from children. In their innocence, they could wreck havoc. Take for instance how they spread the message, thinking they're doing their daddy good; not knowing that could even lead to someone harming you their dad. Next time, whether with your children or those you teach, try using a wallet with a few dollar or no dollar in it at all. You can even blank the amount in the wallet from the settings. That feature is under "Hide Balances". It does no one no good to expose oneself, wittingly or unwittingly. There's a reason people don't like telling others how much they earn. It's a precaution for safety.
2790  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Telegram scam groups Alert on: June 09, 2022, 02:03:59 PM
Topic:-Telegram scam groups Alert

Thank you for alerting others after ur ordeal. E get some people wey e go be dem go just keep quiet sey make others too taste d bitter pill and fall into dat same trap. Binance get telegram group for Nigerians but nor be for P2P. Even those guys wey dey the group go tell you to go through Binance exchange to do your transactions to avoid getting scammed. Any attempt by you to insist sey you wan buy there in d group, members dem go begin attack you sef sey you be scammer. See d telegram group. Na im be the only authentic Binance group for us be dis here https://t.me/binancenigeria.

Scam groups are very easy to know. One of d things wey you supposed take know dem be sey they always quote exchange rated wey dey mouth watering and irresistible. For example, one of those ones wey I checked from your links dey sell @ $540/$. Me and you know sey exchange rate don sit-down on top $600-605/$ now.

Edited:
I come realize sey I don put mouth for dis kain yarn before. So, I trace am come enta d thread wey you even open before. Make una read my advice there on how to stay safe from such 👇

OP, to start with:

- If you get added to a telegram group without your consent, know a scam is about to go down.
- If a group tries to imitate an already established group, know a scam is about to go down. Did you observe the spelling of Binance in the picture as shared by the user above.
- If you are desperate to get into a P2P so you can do your crypto business, take time to monitor the supposed transactions of others in the group. This saved me a lot of times.

Let me briefly explain my experience, relating with the last point I put out there. I've been added on a couple of times to such supposedly P2P groups and my first reaction was to check up the transaction ID some of them put out. I discovered that all the transactions actually happened but most of them dated back as far as six months and some a few weeks in unrelated manners to the claimed transactions at hand. This is a strong point of the blockchain. Nothing is hidden. Every transaction can be viewed at any time.

2792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can i earn a passive income with Altcoins? on: June 07, 2022, 05:37:40 PM

~snipped~
In my opinion staking is for the top class who made tons of money from different fields and can't able to manage all of them also don't want to keep it idle so they stake for decent returns but I am not that much rich enough to keep chunk of money in the staking platform
I'm very far by wide margin from being a money bag but I've tokens that I've staked and they're yielding daily gains. Whenever I open my dapp to monitor the progress of my staked cryptos I don't check the value. I only pay attention to the rewards in quantity of received cryptos. The tokens may not worth much now but will certainly do whenever the market picks up. That's the way I look at it. For me, staking gives me an advantage over hodling.
2793  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Platform? on: June 07, 2022, 04:32:12 PM
I started with something far less than what you've at hand in 2017. I think then it was with Polonex. Later I got onto Coinexchange and then Binance came up and took the shine from them till this day. My advice to you is to check top rated exchanges on the CMC and choose from any that's rated 10 over 10. I recommend Binance to you, anyway. I don't know what the commission is compared to others but I know my funds are safe there. At least for five years that I've been using it, no issues relating to loss of trust.
2794  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheating with Hunters in the name of Bounty Campaign. on: June 07, 2022, 03:56:40 PM
I respect and always admire your kindness.
Thanks! You're too kind with words.

Quote
But you must understand that what you are proposing is simply not possible.
I try as much as I can not to keep a defeatist mindset and outlook on things. In the real sense of the word, impossibility doesn't actually exist. It depends on who is handling the issue. Let me quickly draw your attention to something I (I'm sure several other members didn't know too) never knew could be done here – A user could've their username changed. I know a user who has had his moniker changed; not even once but twice. Before now I would've said that was impossible. So, on the issue at hand, once mods set their act on doing it; it's done.

Quote
"feed a man once by giving him a fish, and next time give him a fishing rod."
There are even some who will appropriately tell you to show them how to fish from the onset and never to even give them a single fish. In my perspective, teaching them how to fish here would be to help screen out or/and ban outright scams for them (newbies) so they can navigate the waters without the criminal sharks.

Quote
What would you suggest for moderators? Even so, they cannot predict in advance whether the bounty will pay in the future or not.
Well, for starters, one would've expected that the widely reported 1xbit signature campaign alleged to be a scam site would've been looked into by mods and admins and if found culpable; yanked off.
2795  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheating with Hunters in the name of Bounty Campaign. on: June 07, 2022, 07:41:54 AM
This should not be put on the shoulders of moderators or more experienced people on this forum. Much depends on you. Take a look at your e-wallets. How much did you earn?
Yes, even as much as we know and believe that much depends on OP to know what is right for them; we should also know that sometimes the experiences one passes through may not always be pleasant. It's that experience I'm calling on the moderators and admins of this forum to help buffer newbies and inexperienced users like OP with. I engaged in bounties too in the past (I'm sure you also did) and then got burnt several times before I learnt my lesson. If we had the forum moderating scams I'm not sure I would've got burnt before learning my lesson. Now that I've moved away from bounties, there are other greenhorns who are obviously moving to it. There's never a shortage of inexperienced people there. Hunters unknowing supply to scam projects can be cut short if there's moderation. That's the point I'm making.
2796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Creating a prepared mindset before the reality emerged. on: June 07, 2022, 06:28:26 AM
I understand the humour in your story. I've heard a similar story but it was with a drunk dude who forgot he drove his car out but went home without it. He even slept off without knowing it till the following day when it dawned on him. Well, whether plausible in both cases or not; I still got your drift. However, the situation of the man in your story and of Bitcoiners who lose or lost access to their wallets don't connect for me. Come to think of it, cases of lost password/seedphrases are almost a thing of the past now. Such were mostly for early adopters and that could be because then most people didn't believe Bitcoin would amount to anything this big. Thus the carelessness in safeguarding such vitals. Now, people have learnt.

2798  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Future trading without leverage on: June 06, 2022, 06:45:27 PM
As far as I know there's no point in using leverage if you're just going to use 1x (1x leverage is virtually pretty much just buying spot), because you're going to pay the hourly funding rates anyway. The only logical reason to use 1x leverage is if you're shorting.
Exactly! It makes no meaning trading future with that leverage, apart from making it obvious that the trader is scared shit of losing. Future trading is like driving on the highway. Learners don't drive there. I like spot trading and taking things slowly. I don't get to lose anything with it, except my patience. Trading demands patience and every trader should know and inculcate that in their minds.
2799  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheating with Hunters in the name of Bounty Campaign. on: June 06, 2022, 05:29:15 PM
What can you do in this situation? The moderators can't help you with the fact that hunters regularly complain about bounty scams.

You misunderstand the purpose of the forum. This is a forum for communication and discussion of bitcoin, in addition to other alternative coins.

Therefore, everything is in the hands of hunters. If you don't want to cheat, skip the bounty section. Of course, we are sorry for your losses and the time spent, but apart from regrets, you will not get anything.
Sometimes, we've to save someone from themselves and I think that's what the forum should move to do. This issue of hunters been helpless with scamming projects is becoming one too many and I don't think it's creating a good image for the forum. The belief that scam isn't moderated here should be revisited.  Let's expand the horizon of our thought on this for a second – It's not only hunters who get short-changed on this, there are investors who also buy into these projects. These investors may believe that since these projects are advertised here they are more than half genuine. Mind you, not everyone knows how to research and ascertain fake projects. The moderators and administrators looking the other way because scam is believed not to be moderated here isn't helping this forum. Sanity has to be instilled in that section of this forum.
2800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can i earn a passive income with Altcoins? on: June 06, 2022, 02:10:47 PM
There are staking website which are legitimate and can give maximum of 8% APY upto $10000 so literally you need to invest 10K to get $80 per month if my mathematical calculation is right. Cheesy
Well, I don't know about your maths being correct or not but I know of staking being a veritable mean of earning passively in this industry. I stake and don't really care what the earnings are at the moment. Staking is more ideal than trading if one can't really trade convincingly to save one's life. For instance I've  Polypad staked on its site to earn Matic as I don't feel like trading it, and wouldn't want it being idle by only hodling it.

Quote
Well, considering the inflation rate around the world right now I will simply go with the HODL option it may not give consistent earning every month but the results are more than your expectations when it goes for years.
If you're looking at inflation, then you should stake to earn. Holding your token is idling it. The only side effect to staking is if you stake on rogue site; otherwise you can always unstake whenever you want and still have your tokens intact.
