281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: April 30, 2016, 04:59:54 PM
i have generated bitcoin vanity address with my name in front, its still free, and i just receive on my email, the address and private keys, but i never use my blockchain wallet anymore,is this also can use on coinbase??
This rings alarm bells! Did you use bitcoinvanitygenDOTcom? Do not trust them! Do not use that address!
See bitcoin stolen from the address generated by bitcoinvanitygenDOTcom or just Google: they have been reported to keep your private key and steal your money.
Your name is short, get a part private key and I (or many other users here) are willing to help you get 1yenxz in a secure way.
It you got it from a trusted source, ignore my concern.
shit, its really happen?i wish people not use that site anymore,i dont want see more post about losing bicoin because hacked or lost by it self, its make me sad for them.

Jasad, when you say "just received on my email", was it an encrypted email using your PGP key?  If not think about writing your bitcoin private key on the back of a postcard and sending it through the mail.  Only, wait, it's worse because if you sent a bitcoin private key in plaintext via a bunch of unknown relays in the mail system then any number of machines may well have seen your email and said "well, doesn't that look formated like bitcoin private key".  I would not send bitcoin to such an address if I were you.

i have a question for the palindrome suffix. is it not the same difficulty to get a suffix for a bitcoin address as it is for the prefix?
meaning there should be better vanity addresses for that longest palindrome than what you listed there.

Yeah the difficulty is the same but the problem is you need to use regex and the -r option doesn't work with the OCL version.  You're limited to using CPU only which is a lot slower than the GPU.

 Finally!  I found a longer palindromic address - 1234mNnAPb8YnCsbacaNhB4BqwxB4U4321

xhomerx10, that one belongs in the hall of fame if you ask me.  Nice address!
282  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin private key/wallet.dat data recovery tool! on: April 27, 2016, 04:29:38 PM
I compiled it on windows using Cygwin and ran it just on a wallet.dat file. Worked great.

I'm going to modify the code and inject 32 different bytes into each, is there any problem with this?

I think the code that dooglus posted just a few posts back should run on windows, assuming you know how to run a compiler on that system (I don't).

What do you mean, "inject 32 different bytes into each"?  Good to know that the script runs on any system.
283  Economy / Gambling / Re: DaDice.com - Next Gen Social Gambling Dice Experience | Progressive Jackpot on: April 26, 2016, 04:39:27 PM
Indeed, as far as I know, there are a handful of "dicing scripts" that get sold around to people who want to be the "next big thing in dicing".  From what I can tell, people ought to take an example from the California gold rush of the mid 1800's,  A few people who were there first made a whole lotta money.  Then masses of people came west with "get rich!" ideas in their heads.  Of those people, almost no one made any money, with one exception: the people selling picks and shovels and buckets and supplies.

Anyway, my real point here is that whoever is selling the dicing scripts (which, yes, tend to look the same because they're probably originally forks of the same source) is the only one making any money at this point from dicing (with the obvious exception of the few who were there first).

For a long time this was a relatively inactive thread.  I love the bitcoinaverage project.  But to be honest if you're going to start bumping this thread everytime someone writes a blogpost I'm thinking I'll remove it from my watchlist.  This just isn't very useful.  I think that anyone who wants to follow your blog can do so through your blogging interface.  I think that continuous bumps for it here just look kinda desperate.  MHO.

Sorry you feel that way. We're simply trying to build a stronger presence and this is one way that we provide information for the community. I'll keep what you've said in mind as to not deter followers. The thread itself is a place to correlate all appropriate media coverage and information about what is happening in the BitcoinAverage space. The reality is, many users that use the forum may not sign up for the blog. This is just another outlet to keep our users informed and share our thoughts with the community. Your input is very much appreciated and perhaps a weekly or by-weekly post with all relevant coverage is more appropriate. Thanks for sharing your input.

Thanks for the reply.  When I see the thread is updated everyday and I come here just to find out that someone posted on a blog, and the blog isn't even about bitcoinaverage, it's just someone at bitcoinaverage commenting on other bitcoin news....Yes, I do think weekly or bi-weekly would be nicer.
285  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dooglus is supporting ponzis on: April 26, 2016, 03:49:59 PM
This completes the first part of my series of the transgressions of Dooglus
Part 1: Dooglus supporting ponzis

This looks more like some kind of personal attack to smear Dooglus's reputation, especially with the last part of your comment.  I understand your overall point, but I don't believe that Dooglus's intent was to A) be part of a ponzi or B) make a profit from it.  I think you're mistaken and you need to consider the weight of the argument you're making with respect to the justification of it all.  I think you've made your point, nuff said.

Of course it is a smear campaign against dooglus, Quickseller wants to be on DT again while Doog who's currently in DT has crossed out QS... If Quickseller is known for one thing it's his smear campaigns.

Exactly this^^^.  And, in case anyone wasn't aware, he's also using his army of alts to try to amply the effect of his smear campaign.  See, here for example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1389916.0  newtons1 is an alt of QS, he created that thread at the same time as this one.  Who knows how many other people in these threads are actually just QS doing his smear-army thing?

from: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/43827/is-the-lightning-network-a-proof-of-stake-system
In other words, it's not really proof of stake.  You can earn fees, but not "interest".  Also, Lightning Network devs are insistent that the fees earned will be tiny because there is near zero cost to entry.

danda, I think you cleared up the OPs confusion.  Nevertheless, you do say that there's some "tiny" fees to be earned, if they OP wants to run a Lightning Node, I guess he can earn those fees by just running the software then.
287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin recovery on: April 26, 2016, 05:24:41 AM
One thing can be done if after this incident you have done nothing to computer then you can just download the data recovery software and do recovery

Most of the recovery software destroy the format and file system to the file that was coded in like UTF or Unicode. So there is more likely the chances of file being destroyed while the recovery.

You can, however, dd whatever's on the disk to a program to look for memory that looks like private keys.  Assuming they were unencrypted.  Dooglus has posted a program that does just this.  If I were trying to recover keys from a disk, the first thing I'd do is make a copy of the entire memory on the disk before using it any further, that way if there is an unencrypted private key on the disk, it won't get written over.
288  Economy / Reputation / Re: Known alts of anyone: User generated on: April 25, 2016, 05:20:25 PM
Timelord, I think the way you're using "wallet" to mean "collection of addresses" and to also mean "individual address" is a bit confusing.  Also, walletexplorer isn't concrete truth, I've looked up my own addresses in it and it often says I'm sharing a wallet with people who have paid me or who I have paid.

Ok my bad shouldn't have mentioned a private area. If there is one I haven't been invited Wink.

Maybe its because you talk too much?

Right, there's no way you're getting invited to the secret area once you've talked about the secret area...wait, did that just do me in too?!

Hey folks - we have sent out tips to everyone that filled out the survey (61 people).
Thank you and look for an upcoming email for further details on how to access the Beta

Tip received.  Thank a lot and glad to see that the bitcoinaverage project is coming out with new stuff.
294  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: April 19, 2016, 04:25:58 AM
So I can generate bitcoin address per minute?  Smiley

Lol, you should be able to generate them a lot faster than one per minute.  Oh, wait, you mean a vanity address?  Well then it's going to depend on how long a string you're going to pre-specify and your equipment.  I tell ya what, you give it a try and tell us how fast you're coming up with them.
295  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: April 17, 2016, 09:56:57 PM
For the record, SWC Poker is not the same as the old Seals With Clubs. Micon is not (and has never been) involved with SWC Poker, and it's not run by the same people who ran Seals With Clubs. The original Seals With Clubs was shut down a long time ago, and there is no plan to resurrect it. However, SWC Poker has a listing of old Seals accounts, and if you e-mail support@swcpoker.eu, they will transfer your old account name and krill over to the new site if there was an e-mail address associated with your Seals With Clubs account.

Sure, I could email them.  But since I have no way of logging into the "new site" (from what I can tell, you can't do anything on the new site at all except read the blogs and the news posts), and since I have no way of running the software, I haven't done anything at all.

If you have btc on SwC I could recover your account and send the btc to you at no charge.  It would be worth the effort to be able to put an end to your lamenting. Grin  That is as long as it is OK with SwC.  I still play there whenever I find a game that suits me.

Lol, iirc, the old seals was very good about providing a chance to cash out any chips before the shutdown.  I don't think I actually have any money associated with my account.  The main purpose of my lamenting is just that I really enjoyed a lot of hours of playing bitcoin poker on my couch on my tablet, and on the bus on my phone.  Nothing in the last two years since they shut down even comes close.  I think I used to believe that swc was going to achieve what old seals achieved and am a bit heartbroken now that I realize it was just hype or whatever.

Happy hour starting now

I could have sworn I had seen somewhere in this thread a post by you that said you would tweet out when happy hour is. I guess it was just to get followers but there really is no reason to follow primedice on any social media. I mean posting in this thread about a happy hour is great but do what you said you would do and post it on Twitter. Fuckin bullshit lies by stunna

I think he posts it in all the media that he feels like.  And from what I've seen it usually goes out on the social media and Micro announces it here when he thinks of it.  It's crazy to be so negative about someone offering you extra free money and taking the time to tell you about it.

Take the two minute (5 question) BitcoinAverage survey and receive a BTC tip for your input!

https://cryptosurvey.typeform.com/to/NoYKoO

Is this still open?  I'm a long-time fan of bitcoinaverage project and I, of course, love tips Smiley  I was away for a couple of weeks until just yesterday so I didn't see this stuff till now.

The questionnaire is still up and running. If you share your input you will receive a tip at the end of the campaign!

https://cryptosurvey.typeform.com/to/NoYKoO

Done.  I wonder how much the tip is supposed to be.  In any case, the survey was very short and painless (telling to people who haven't done it yet).

I wish it weren't true, because the old seals was amazing.  It really seems like after the Icon left things never were the same.  Image suffered, development suffered, ...  Now looking for the next reliable poker house for bitcoins, I think it's completely up for grabs at this point.

I see people saying this, and I'm wondering why you felt the old seals > new SWC?  Granted I only played on old seals sparingly, but the grid software blows the mavens software out of the water.
Unless you used to play the old seals on your android tablet on your sofa, and on your android phone on a long bus commute.  And you haven't run windoze software since you played Sid Meyer's Civilization when you were a kid.  In that case the old seals was awesome and the new seals is just promises that one day you're recover your account and your krill.  And after waiting more than a year for that one day, it starts to feel like it was just bullshit.  Okay, so that's why people are saying it.

So your issues with SWC are just accessibility?  That's fair, and I do agree that it should have been done by now or at the very least communicated about with the customers in a timely manner.

For sure, it seems to me like at the very least they should have opened up some sort of logins on the website so that you could recover your old account and maybe chit-chat in the trollbox.  As it stands, I haven't even been able to log-in since Dec 2014.  In March 2015 when Micon said android or some sort of cross-platform ability was coming, I believed.  I don't really believe anymore.
