personally i would prefer havelock over bitfunder. but certainly a legitimate decentralized exchange would be the best choice if one is available or trustworthy

I totally agree. I wish OpenTransactions was far enough along to use, and to be able to be used by those not so tech-savvy!

why isn't MPEx on the table?

Just kidding.

I like your style. Grin

I'm all for signing a message using my address. Would take me less than two minutes if that aids in the overall process here.

It will if there is a dispute or you would like to change your refund address from your sending address. Otherwise it won't be necessary.

Thanks to all who have submitted claims so far. As stated previously, all submitted refunds will go out on Wednesday.
303  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: September 23, 2013, 04:42:17 PM
Hey all,

Fortunately, burnside is doing everything right with the BTC-TC closure and transition to a new exchange will be effortless. Right now, I'm on the prowl for an exchange as good as btc-tc, which is hard to come by. I'll be looking into havelock, bitfunder, and any suggestions from you guys.

Please go on to BTC-TC and submit your emergency withdrawal address. It would be beneficial for you to have the ability to sign messages using this address, but not 100% necessary.

Every 12 hours btc-tc emails asset managers a list of shareholders (by email address), number of shares owned, and now an associated bitcoin address.

Also, despite the exchange closing down, later today we will be finalizing a large purchase with CoinTerra. I'll post back as soon as that is done!

Cheers,
Garrett

I think he is trying to make sure people do not claim a refund that are not entitled to one. Give him a few days, if at that time progress is not made start grabbing the pitch forks

That is correct. Just in the case that someone is trying to impersonate another is why I'm doing it this way. Better safe than sorry!
305  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Overclockable Chips and Boards :: Idaho, USA :: 991:4384 Remaining on: September 22, 2013, 09:39:47 PM
Hey all, I've been waiting until the refund was process to announce it, and it has been!

To claim your refund:
Send me an email: asic[at]garr255 dot com with the information:
Forum handle (if applicable)
Number of chips purchased
Sending address (used to purchase the chips)

I will start processing refunds on Wednesday, 25 September 2013. This will allow sufficient time to resolve disputes if any false claims show up. If you do not want the btc refunded to your sending address for whatever reason, please sign a message with your sending address containing "My email is: [email] and I would like my chip purchase to be refunded to: [new btc address]".

If you have any other questions regarding the process, feel free to email me or post here.

Best,
Garrett

Anyone catch those trades with FIMB last night. Pretty suspect if you ask me, or people who don't bother to look the contract lol.

Although unrelated to Cognitive, I'm curious what you mean by suspect?

Find something you're truly passionate about. I know that might not be an easy thing to do, but I truly believe that is key to attaining happiness. Money isn't necessary to be happy whatsoever. In fact, I give a good amount of mine to research foundations, and live a little more frugally than I have to. I think it'd be a shame to have the only thing you look forward to be the weekend and your paycheck. That's not true happiness, no; that's being sucked into the terrible thing we have come to name the "workforce".

Find something you love, and do it, regardless of the financial aspect. There's always a way to be passionate about your life, it's just a matter of standing up and finding it. Forget about money, (although debatably necessary) it just fuels greed and corruption.

That's my rant for the day. Have a good life, and best of luck to you!
310  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: September 22, 2013, 06:50:35 PM
Hello all,

As said previously, BTC-TC has instated a new policy where in order to trade any assets, you must submit an emergency withdrawal address. There is a large notification at the top of the btct.co web site saying this.

No Cognitive assets were frozen because of this. It is simply a safety precaution burnside has added to the site, making an emergency transition off of BTC-TC even easier than before. A notification from him explaining the change would have been in order, but he neglected to do this, hence the panic from the larger majority of BTC-TC users.

All is well and I have negotiated a bulk order price with the CEO of CoinTerra, We will be sending payment for the order tomorrow, at which point I will be able to disclose the discount we received. I've been working on this for the past five days and wanted to wait until it was done to post an update, but I don't want to wait any longer. I'll post back tomorrow with the specifics!

Also, I have requested refunds from Steamboat, the group-buy organizer we used to purchase the majority of our Avalon chips. Those funds will be going toward the CoinTerra purchase as well, because the more we order, the better this discount will be.

Best,
Garrett

Have you heard acknowledgment of the refund request being received?

Yes I received an email this morning saying that it will be sent soon.

Here's a screenshot of the dashboard for one of the private pools we're operating on. The new BFL units fluctuate speed a bit, but it averages out to right where the expected hashrate should be.

Cheers,
Garrett

I hate to say it, but you probably have chips already on their way to you?

Nope I've got no shipping notification. I'll post back when the refund processes!

I found my new rig already but thanks for that link.
315  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: September 12, 2013, 06:01:24 PM

Nope, we have the option to choose between the two, at different price points though. I'll be back with prices after my chat with CT this weekend.

And 50%+ approval is indeed what is required to pass a motion now.

Cheers,
Garrett

54% approval.  File the refund request now!  Don't wait, file it immediately.

Already done Smiley

Even if we get the chips in December it will take a month or so to get them all up and running correct?

The CoinTerra chips will be hashing the same day they arrive, because they are handling the board production as well as the chips fabrication, whereas Avalon was selling just chips.

--Garrett

Okay that sounds pretty good. That is an important detail.  How firm is the december date? Also when is the last day we can order and still get in that first batch.

The reason I say December/January is because there is the potential to get the same chips for less money by waiting a month. We will have to calculate whether this will be worth it when the time comes. To more precisely answer your question though: CoinTerra is serious about delivering on time. They have promised that if they are 30 days late in delivering products they will give purchasers an additional 20% of the hashpower they ordered. I'll be speaking with the CEO of CT this weekend. There is no definitive cutoff date; still have a little while to place the order.

--Garrett

The stuff that we have already ordered from them will be in the Dec batch?  And the new stuff might be either the Dec or Jan? Also can you find out how much money we will save by waiting? Unless it is a significant discount, like at least 30%, I would tend to lean towards faster being better.

Cognitive hasn't made any orders from CT yet, just a few others in private mining operations I'm running. I agree with you though; the increase in difficulty in that one month might not be worth the wait for a less than significant discount.

Still need another 2593 votes to reach 50% votes with Cognitive.

Thats out of a total 6882 remaining votes.

I really wish Cognitive shareholders would start voting.

+1

I'll be sending a notification soon, so that should alert the rest of the shareholders that aren't extremely active here.
