Are mining on your own p2pool node - or using a public node? If so, what one?

That system is using spinning-disk media.
A HDD? Do people still use them? I'd ditch that if I were you - they're terrible for Bitcoin wallet, p2pool & mining in general. Only good for servers now. Glad we got to the bottom of this, it was a head banger for me, so I'm sure it was doing your nut in! Haha, yeah. It's pretty OK for Bitcoind as mostly you're just storing 60GB of history and they are great for long-term storage of bulky data that is not speed sensitive. I do have a 125G SSD that I just upgraded from from my workstation so I may throw that in as the boot disk but I doubt I'd put the blockchain on it. Now, if someone want to tell me it would really benefit to have p2pool use one, I'm willing to listen. My rig, running 64bit Xubuntu, runs a 60GB Corsair system SSD. I use a 256GB HyperX SSD for the 13 wallet data directories that I'm merge mining with p2pool - plus 7 other coin wallets that I mine with another p2pool instance on occasion, ie: when I'm playing The speed is faster than my crappy internet, which I believe to be the cause of most of my orphans/doa's - of which there are few, my node very rarely goes below 105% efficiency & sometimes, when my internet is stable, it goes up to 125%. I couldn't do this with HDD's. No way. So yeah, SSD's are the way to go - but use quality ones. I'm a huge fan of the HyperX - I run one in my PC too, and my Netbook.

In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.
It might be time for you to heed this advice, wouldn't you think? Amen to that. My ignore button just took another hit Ahhh.......that's better.

Glad we got to the bottom of this, it was a head banger for me, so I'm sure it was doing your nut in! not really .... mine runs on hdd (wd reds) on RAID 10 is as fast or faster than a regular ssd & much more cost efficient, lots of space & if any of the hdd fails it still works. RAID 10 & WD Reds are for server/nas, and although it's a good quality configuration & will run fine, if you compare a read/write test result between those discs & the same setup but with quality SSD's instead of HDD's, the SSD's will win hands down, every time. Always. I use Reds on my server, performance is great, but after testing the speeds, I went with a SSD setup on a dedicated mining rig. Also, SSD's use a fraction of the electricity, which is handy for a rig that's on 24/7.

Wanted to share. It's nice to help folks out
Then why are you ignoring requests from members here to show us this email you got from bitmain? If you don't know how to upload a document/screenshot - I can help you. The best I can do is let you know how I buy my miners. Which I have done. I would have to redact so much that it would be pointless. How much have you spent on mining equipment in the last two years? That's BS. You post over 135 posts only in the S7 thread since it started saying you got the first this & the first that, shipping is perfect, bitmain are wonderful, you got emails from them, you got this & you got that - but as soon as anyone askes you corroborate what you say - you ignore them & then give feeble excuses. Post proof or wolfen=bitmain shill. Official. Try not to worry - I'm sure things will work out, it can be a little worrying with your first order from Bitmain, especially with the high prices they are charging, but I'm sure your miners will come eventually - it's just a case of when. Be patient. I know it's hard when we read about the horror stories about delivery - & posts like wolfen's certainly don't help. We can't make him prove himself, but if he can't, well, then we'll all know the truth. I heard they did have an official shill once, but he was terrible at it - so they sacked him

In Sfard's defense, it came out before any of the new chips.....
Only, it didn't "come out". Two, maybe three miners are reported in the wild showing dubious results - hardly the "mass production" they claim

Yes - that sounds like the problem to me too - well spotted Meuh6879

Yeah, that looks nothing like my monthly chart at all. Did you redownload the p2pool sharechain yet? Edit: Here's mine (click for larger) Edit1: It might even be a dodgy SSD?

The pool rate is always jumping about - it's normal. failovers, restarts, miners coming & going etc.

Just on the off chance, are you using the latest version of p2pool?
Saturation should never be a problem with p2pool - it uses minimal bandwidth, almost nothing. How many connections does your bitcoind have? I restrict mine to 14 to keep bandwidth down - I also use QOS for prioritizing traffic on ports 9332,9333,8332 & 8333.
It shouldn't but see the graph posted above. bitcoind is left as the default (I believe and is on QOS (which I also have to switch off when I am using the dumb Cisco phone). P2pool is unrestricted and is normally fine for bandwidth. Version is 14.0 which is the latest afaik. It's a tricky one. Try limiting your bitcoind connections with: ..in your conf file, even if it doesn't help, it will ensure that your bandwidth stays free. It might also be that your p2pool sharechain is corrupted somehow - have you tried deleting it & redownloading?

If I had that kind of hash rate, I'd be tempted to solo mine also He was asking about p2pool though, so I tried to answer. It would be nice to have that extra hash on p2pool as well of course - all helps towards decentralizing & taking the big, empty block producing Chinese pools out of the equation

What nobody is telling you and very few know is that you are in fact losing money due to fees and variance if you mine on any pool, even p2pool, with your more than 2ph/s. You need to run your very own node (not a p2pool one, an actual node), then you will have no fees, much lower rejected shares and little latency.
Actually, I did already tell him that: It's always preferable to use your own p2pool node with another p2pool node as backup/failover. If you need a hand or have any questions with settings etc, pop over to the p2pool thread - we're a helpful bunch! There are no fees with p2pool. They are decided by the node owner - & I doubt he/she will want to charge himself It's also very easy to set up a p2pool node, no special skills are required & there are many p2pool miners who will help do this for free.

Not sure, there were multiples starting oct 3 I think. Ordered and paid. Was selling s5's to get cash for s7's. Bought all batch two starting october after buying batch ones beginning of sept, they are sending batch 3 for 3 batch twos so far.
Are you saying that you purchased Batch 2 miners and Bitmain is shipping you Batch 3 miners instead? How do you know they're Batch 3 miners? I was told. Emailed. I dont know if i will be able to tell at all. Who emailed you this? You seem to be claiming a lot of firsts. First to report shipment, and now to claim batch 3 instead of 2. That almost sounds to good to be true on giving batch 2 batch 3 quality for same price. I'll let you know what they actually send after I get them up and running in the datacenter tomorrow. And the email they sent you?

I ordered batch 2 miners & never got an email - has anyone else? Can you post the email for us?

Hmmm....has anyone else had the latest bitcoind "lock up" on them? First time it's ever happened to me - I had to kill & restart it Edit: And another BLOCK!

Thanks for this link, just what I need for mine - if they ever arrive......

I am taking a stab at p2pool today, might move about 1/4 machines to it to test its mining power.

Only, in PRO case, it wasn't done right........ Github page has also gone.....guess that's it then Edit: A new repo has appeared on github if anyone is interested: https://github.com/Prototanium/PrLooks like the same wallet with no fixes, but maybe this will be fixed soon.....
