301  Economy / Speculation / Re: A more precise sentiment poll on: February 02, 2016, 01:55:18 AM
I've been shorting til about 380 with my whole trading balance.  I'm expecting we'll see 350 or lower soon again so waiting for a chance to get out at a nice profit.  Not confident enough to trade with a large amount, but I really don't think we're going up at the moment.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - NEW BURST OP - MINE WITH YOUR HDD - ATs, AE, P2P MARKETPLACE, and MORE! on: February 01, 2016, 11:30:44 AM
I really like the idea of this coin.  It keeps the Proof of Work spirit of building awesome rigs, yet uses a fraction of the power.  May grab an extra HDD for my computer and mine, have missed having rigs around since selling off most my hardware Smiley
303  Economy / Speculation / Re: New bear market? on: January 31, 2016, 11:25:27 PM
We've been in a bear market for quite a while now, people have just been in denial.  If we break through the support line there's no telling where it's going to stop.  Let the panic begin.

Inb4 'it's just a whale buy time!!!'

304  Other / Meta / Re: Is fighting allowed in here? on: January 31, 2016, 04:51:11 AM
It depends on how off-topic the posts are, but generally the forum is uncensored unless something breaks one of the major rules (or is straight up spam).  However, I recommend messaging whoever is running their signature campaigns and directing them to the low quality posts.  It will more than likely get them a warning and possibly a pay docking which will help to cut down on it Smiley
305  Economy / Speculation / Re: is it time to sell? on: January 30, 2016, 04:55:04 AM
You will regret if you sell your coins today. Pretty not reasonable if one will sell their coins today.

Don't lose hope just because of a small dip. Sit back, relax and enjoy watching the chart. Don't expect an everyday price rise in bitcoin.
yes the price so unstable in these few days although some people said it's time to buy but i was afraid bitcoin price will down again till $350 below and perhaps that's why i'm so doubt to buy
IMO you're right in that thinking.  We haven't broken out of the downtrend by any means, or even gotten a chance to test 350 yet.  What I'd do is buy at 350, sell immediately if we break ~345 because if we break through there's no telling where we're going to end up.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: It is Buy time! on: January 29, 2016, 08:48:40 AM
The price went down to $370 now. It is in the lower point of the recent trading range. If it is broke, the price could test $300.
I highly doubt we'll be going that low soon.  We found support last time around 350 and haven't gone lower in quite a while since before the rally to 470 started.  If 367 doesn't hold we'll probably see a complete retracement back to 350, but I think that's as low as we'll be going for now.

307  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: dj6230 scammed me. My 60 dollars amazon for his 39 dollars btc on: January 29, 2016, 05:58:52 AM
Attempted scam here too for $40.  He said he'd ship me some stuff with Amazon Prime, offered to use escrow but 'oddly' didn't offer to go first with my rep til I asked.  Disappeared after giving him my shipping address, package never showed up.
308  Economy / Speculation / Re: is it time to sell? on: January 29, 2016, 05:53:46 AM
I'd still say it's time to short, but you're taking a bit more of a risk than if you had gotten out on the downtrend around 400.  I'm hardly a TA wizard, but taking a shot in the dark I think we'll be heading to around 350, which was where we found support last time after the big fall.

If you're in it for the long term, just sit back and watch the show.  Charts go up, charts go down..  unless you're trying to make a quick buck enjoy the panic.
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2016 crash has begun! on: January 29, 2016, 01:30:58 AM
Seriously, it's weekend guys no need to panic, it's always been like this when weekend draw near, exchange rate dips and then climbs back again start of Monday when traders are more active. Other's even calls this day's as WEAKend. So relax.
I think it's more than just weekend blues.  We've been in a general downtrend for a bit and we managed to hold our price for a little, but now the bottom fell out and we're correcting back to where the bear market wants us to be.  I've been calling this one for quite a while.
310  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what am I calculating wrong? (free energy no RoI) on: January 28, 2016, 06:14:30 AM
The key is to sell your miner somewhat before it's obsolete to somebody that is hopeful on the difficulty, or just wants to get into mining at a lower price.  With free power you will get there eventually most likely, but you'll have a better chance selling off when it's close to done.

You can fetch ~200 on eBay for an Antminer S2 right now.  While there is a chance of getting scammed there, there's also a chance of getting a much higher price than on the forum.
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to stay at $400 for a long time? on: January 28, 2016, 04:27:53 AM
I personally think the bottom is getting ready to fall out on BTC.  Tons of altcoins are shooting up, showing that people are getting less faithful by the minute.  We've stabilized for the second, but the block size drama continues..

Probably not, the whales are still within the bitcoin camp so should we. These backers have deep pockets to manipulate the market and make false price increase making other to think that the next price increases will be the way towards the next bitcoin halving and that will bring in more funds from the consumers who want to ride that wave created by the whales.
Called it.  Next stop: ~365

312  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have BTC, Need Amazon Prime Proxy Purchase $40 on: January 28, 2016, 04:18:27 AM
Need some things shipped 2-day from Amazon and don't have Prime.  The items cost about 40 bucks, I'll pay a few bucks extra as a tip.  Escrow is highly preferred, I will not go first unless you have a lot of trust on here.

You all set on this seeing how that guy seems to be a scammer or something? Let me know if not, I can help you out. Wink
The guy never came through, vanished after I told him I'd pay after getting valid tracking.  I ended up getting what I needed IRL at a much higher price :/

Be Careful When Buying Digital Goods

Many items in the Digital Goods forum are purchased using stolen credit cards or illegitimate methods.  Sellers may also reverse payment on the item, leaving you either on the hook or with worthless stuff.

Beware that escrow is more or less useless when buying something digital.  Only trade with sellers that you trust.  It's better to miss out than to lose money or worse.

I'd shorten it to this:

Warning: Many items in the Digital Goods forum are obtained through illegitimate methods. Sellers may also reverse payment on the item. Using escrow will not guarantee your safety. Moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain. Only trade with sellers that you trust.

the moderator part is there to reduce the possible complains of "if you knew then why didn't you remove it?". if anyone have anything better don't hesitate to speak.
have someone PMed theymos about this? if not then I'll PM him to get a fast answer.
I like that version better, short and to the point.  Haven't shot him a message, go ahead and do it Cheesy

There should be some kind of warning, although OGNasty's is pretty vague and doesn't get across the main point to new users.  This is what I'd make it:

315  Other / Meta / Re: Question about reporting posts and whats considered spam IMO on: January 27, 2016, 07:45:11 AM
With the low-enforcement feeling of the forum, many users choose to help fight scamming with posts like this as well as neg-trusting potential scammers.  I personally don't think it should be considered spam as long as the user has a valid point, as they may end up saving somebody from losing some money.

I think the line stands between general concern and posting in every other thread saying OP is probably scamming without a point specific to the situation.  We have stickys for general guidelines, but in the example above the user was pointing out that although he may appear trustworthy, there is also a potential that it's an exit scam.

All in all it's up to you as a campaign owner to decide.  If you want, you could very well put a 'policing posts will not count' policy if it concerns you Smiley

317  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Olympics to allow pre-Op transgender athletes to compete on: January 27, 2016, 06:18:23 AM
I think trans people should be allowed in Men's competitions because genetically men have more power than women. If they compete against women that would cause inequality. But if they compete against men nobody object it.
While I'm conflicted on the new rules, I don't think letting Female to Male TG people automatically compete is a good thing either.  Women are more flexible by nature, so somebody that has been trained and just started testosterone before the competition (or never possibly by the sound of it) would have an advantage in some competitions.
318  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked, cracked, carded... bitcointalk - home of scumbags on: January 26, 2016, 09:35:54 PM
This has been something that's bugged me for quite a while.  I used to give negs to people that were selling things that looked to be illigitimately gained, but there's so many of them that it's just useless.  There's no enforcement of any sort of policy against this.  That's one of the reasons I stopped doing escrow, who knows where the item I'm helping to sell came from.

However, it would be hard to make a policy that would fix this...  If it's a 'common sense' policy based on price it will just let the carders sell for more, blocking out the legitimate sellers.  The best thing to do is just trade with reputable members or get the card shipped with a receipt.
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: It is Buy time! on: January 24, 2016, 09:35:20 AM
Somebody certainly thinks it's buy time right now.  Up $10 in a matter of minutes... looks like a bull trap to me, but who knows with this bipolar market.

Edit: we're officially above 400.  Haven't broken out of the downtrend yet, but this could be the spark that changes it
320  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading Bitcoins with Vanilla Visa Gift Card on: January 24, 2016, 08:04:34 AM
The only 100% safe way to do this is to use escrow and have the gift card and receipt mailed to you, then spend it before releasing.  Make sure the receipt says it was purchased with cash and that the card has not been activated online, otherwise they could call and say someone stole it.

If you follow those steps you could probably use it with Paypal safely, but it would probably be a better option to buy something in real life.
