301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Paul Krugman Effect on: March 08, 2023, 07:21:24 PM
He should be ashamed of making such statement. I wonder how He is an Nobel prize winner in Economic science and He still didn't see the significance of cryptocurrency in the year 2018.

He may probably be smart in some aspects of economics and markets, but he definitely has no business in trying to tell people what's great and what's not when talking about technological advancements lmao.

It's pretty much like Canadian protesters who thought the money was theirs until they got depraved of it.

Everything is fine up to a certain point.
Many Chinese citizens thought their daily routine is work, shopping, dinner with family and a movie in bed. Then they realized there will be no shopping and no dinner because the bank doesn't allow them to take money out and there are tanks protecting it so you can't even protest.

You're doing fine until some shit happens like your country goes to war and says that you either go to war too or to jail, so you have to run away, but there's a line to the ATM and withdrawal limits.
302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling using chip in money? on: March 08, 2023, 03:25:45 PM
I looked through YouTube video and I can assure you that they made more over this video. So he had fun, his friends were annoyed and had fun at the same time. We, watchers liked to watch them as well. Adin is probably seeking only fame and money through streaming here so it doesn't even matter. In real life I honestly can't offer to my friend that I would like to gamble with his money. It would be seen as very shameful event.

Maybe he did, but he also intentionally lost all their money. He had 2400, went all in on blackjack and stood on a hand of 8? That's like asking for a loss.

If I remember first round he had 12 which is risky as hell to stand on and the dealer went over and then next hand he had 8 and just let it there. The dealer started with 12 so that was a free win for the casino. I'm sure he knew that he just wanted to lose the money to make his friends complain on the live video.

I wouldn't want to play like this if I saw he's using me for the video and not playing for real.
303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling advertisements: A big trigger to gambling addiction. on: March 08, 2023, 03:10:41 PM
*How does someone who intends to stop gambling control these ads or stop them from popping up or seeing it on tv?

If you have a TV that allows you to install apps you can download an add blocker.
You can block channels that display these adds and don't watch youtube on your TV.

We rarely watch TV in my house. We rather use it to play movies of our choice, sometimes from streaming platforms, but they don't play gambling adds at all.
It's not that I need them not to do it, but I'm just not getting them unless I browse the Internet on TV.
304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [UFC] Justin Gaethje vs Rafael Fiziev on: March 08, 2023, 02:36:14 PM
I liked watching Gathje's early fights. He was really into it, had a lot more heart.
I'm not sure of his recent performance, so I would skip betting on this fight simply because the outcome is very uncertain.

Would bet on Gathje if we were were back in 2013/14 but now I 'm not sure if he's not burned out yet, like McGregor.
305  Economy / Gambling / Re: they are scamming us? on: March 07, 2023, 08:40:03 PM
yes, I play gambling for fun
i just came accross this video, wanted to share this that it can happen or not ,
it can happen with small casinos who only came to make money not for making a brand

All casinos want to make money. I'm sure there are ones that cheat but these are usually smaller, less popular ones.

If a casino has 100 people playing at any moment and each of them pays a fee the casino constantly makes money and what one player loses the other wins so the money is in constanc circulation and stays in balance. The casino operator doesn't have to cheat. He gets a steady flow of money 24 hours a day.

If they were cheating more and more people would have complaints over time. There would be open scam accusations and discussions in their forum threads. Out of those 100 people if only 1 per hour would notice that they're cheating and come to tell about it we'd have new threads coming up every day.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: When you're so inlove with BTC on: March 07, 2023, 07:49:24 PM
This price is not going up soon,

How do you know that? I think that by the end of the year the price is going to be above 25000 which is enough for me to remain a believer in bitcoin's bright future.

I just want to make you laugh small but below is today price not impressed.

Because you have some unrealistic ideas and deadlines. I'd like to remind you that we're still in a bear market and as long as we're above 20000 everything is good. Most of us expected the bottom for bitcoin to be at the top of the 2017 bull market and if not for FTX bitcoin would have fulfilled these expectations.

There are many reasonable predictions for the near future and for me they are as follows:
-no new bottom for bitcoin in this bear market
-the price slowly creeping towards 30000 with the target for that price being reached before the halving
-a bull market in 2024
-a new ATH in 2024 or 2025.

I don't care about small ups and downs along the way.
307  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: March 07, 2023, 07:37:38 PM
Here in the EU it's bad since the covid lockdowns. First you couldn't go out, had limited access to services and all that, the police were chasing people who refused to wear masks. There were cases where you'd try to have a smoke so you'd uncover your face for a while and the police would chase you like a thief or some criminal.

Then we got first signs of energy crisis where all the bills would go up by 10%. The only things that I don't have to pay more for are my phone and internet. Both of them cost me exactly what I had to pay 2 years ago but apart from that everything went up, especially garbage disposal, water and heating.

Food also went up by a lot. Some things, especially vegetables that require additional heat and light in winter like tomatoes and peppers went up by 50%.

308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 07, 2023, 06:59:28 PM
Here where i come from a man close to 80 years will most of the time be lying down with the little strength he have I doubt he will be able to operate a computer.

My dad is 82 and he's driving a car and gardening. Let's not generalize there's many different people in the world. I doubt that, even in your country, when a man reaches the age of 80 he lies down in bed and starts watching TV and pissing in a pot.

Quote

Convincing someone that old to invest in bitcoin is improper,

It's not. An 80 year old person is completely capable of making decisions.
I know 80 year old professors who hike in the mountains every year and do 2 hour long lectures. If they don't need other people to manage their bank accounts they can manage a bitcoin wallet.
309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling earn someone a living on: March 06, 2023, 09:53:39 PM
It's possible and people at poker stars are a living proof of this. Many poker players get paid sponsorships, they get invited into tournaments for free where they can play with virtual money and if they lose they don't lose any money, but if they win they get the prize.

I wouldn't wan t that life because it's stressful, but some people love the game so much that they do it.

For most people it's impossible to make a living out of gambling because to live you need stable income. You can't have a bad streak one month and die of hunger or have your internet disconnected.
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All You Need To know About The World's First Functional Bitcoin Watch. on: March 06, 2023, 09:33:50 PM
In the faqs they do state that:
Quote
The Franck Muller Encrypto comes with a QR code on the dial connected to a sealed USB However due to liability reasons it is intended as a commemorative, limited edition novelty item, and not for storing Bitcoins.
Not sure how many people that actually purchase the watch get to read the above, and understand the risks of using the default solution (though engraving your own public key doesn’t seem like a brilliant idea either from a privacy point of view).

It could be a fun gadget to use along with a phone wallet. You show it at a party and someone sends you a tip to check out how it works and you get instant access via your phone wallet and spend the coins that night. I doubt someone will sit and wait for the watch to receive a few dollars so they can steal it.

Another way would be to engrave a qr code with your hardware wallet address so people can deposit directly to your safe wallet and that would make it into a display piece for your savings.

I don't know how many people would send me money if I had it, but the watch is pretty and will probably gain value over time.
311  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anonymity vs. KYC: The Pros and Cons of Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: March 06, 2023, 09:19:14 PM
It is difficult to stay completely anonymous in the current generation where each and every device, app, website is tracking us in some way or the other.
There are people who prefer to stay anonymous and use anti-trackers to stay away from being tracked.
Talking about me, I try to stay as anonymous as possible if at some point I have to give up anonymity in order to get ease of access and convenience then I do give it up.
For example using binance to get access to a larger volume of coins for trading. I do give anonymity in such cases.

Apps are tracking you but they can only track everything. They have only the data that you give them.

When you go to a store and pay with bitcoin all they have is date and time of the transaction and the address that was used. They don't have your name and address, your date of birth, they don't even know if you're a man or a woman.

That's where the harm of KYC comes into play.

They force you to give them that information so that it can get associated with your wallet and your wallet with your online activity. Suddenly they know that your coins came from a signature campaign, they know your forum nickname, post history. You post about a hardware wallet that you use, you give them other exchanges that you have account on because you post about it on the forum.

KYC is worse than a tracking app.
312  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I dont like predicting btc price or moves but here is what i think i see on: March 06, 2023, 08:55:34 PM
A newbie who just created an account is willing to teach people about how to predict the price or am I getting something wrong?
Newbie, or not, he has his own ideas and predictions and we can't deny that. You don't know people's background. They may be newbies here and in real life traders with 20 years of experience.

Quote
No matter how much good with your technical analytic skill its impossible to find the price movements with 100% with constant rate so we all have to remember the analysis is just a part amd lot of other factors affecting the price too.

BTW I won't be surprised if bitcoin falls below 20K or passes 30K in the next 24hr time frame. Smiley

You can make a decent long term prediction though, and you can make short-term ones that don't account for possible manipulation. Silvergate is one of such unpredictable events just like Luna was and later FTX.

I had my own predictions for the bottom of bear market and I stand by it. I think that the bottom is in and it would have been in in 22000 at the lowest if not for scammers. This is why this level is so crucial and why people lingers here for so long. 22000 is like 6000 in 2018-2019 bear market. We held on to it, went below it, back up to it and stayed there. We can still go below it but will always come back.
313  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinplay scammed me out of 1300 USDT on: March 06, 2023, 08:21:09 PM
I don't see any mention of letting the OP to withdraw the deposit. Where am I missed?
OP confirmed they can in the OP.
You can withdraw the deposited sum only."

And the casino representative confirmed it in their reply to the player:
You can withdraw the deposited sum only.

So they're in fact ruling this in his favor due to the following :

due to you not complying with these Terms, we may cancel and/or void any of your bets and withhold any money in your account (including the deposit) (General Terms and Rules 6.6)

If according to the rules they're allowed to take his deposit but choose to return it, it should close the case and this thread.

This is the usual copy pasta when you can't provide proof, just like 1xbit, i'm the first one being scammed the more people will appear with this problem soon and i'm pretty sure of that.

So did you get the deposit back or not? This is the important part most of the people in this thread want to see.
314  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: DuckDice io Scam my deposit on: March 06, 2023, 07:54:32 PM
What does it mean? "Has been flagged by a service provider"

Under this wording, you can block any account that your bookmaker did not like for some reason.

They think you were a part of an organized group that was arbitrage betting, meaning that while betting on football, like you did, you calculate the profit and one of you bets on one team, while the other one bets against it. You do it in such way that if you get the favorable outcome you win money, despite your partner losing his bet, and if you get the unfavorable outcome, the win from your partner nullifies your loss. The more people in a group the more you can manipulate the odds and even make multi bets to increase profit.

Even if you're caught doing it, the remaining money should be returned to you and probably will, so stay calm and wait for more info from DD.
315  Economy / Gambling / Re: who to trust in gambling sites? on: March 05, 2023, 12:41:12 PM
Quote
my question is can i trust these sites , which is on 2nd or 3rd or 4th on list of best sites , which is written by bloggers, keeping in mind that which have more referral commission is going to be in first places,

IMO you can. If a casino is 2nd or 3rd on the list it can't be a scam. Even a casino that  is ranked 10 on the list is still good because it's above average since there's more than 50 crypto online casinos.

Try some of the casinos that advertise here on the forum. Most of them have decent traffic if that's what you really want. I don't get why you'd depend your trust on traffic, but do as you like.

The number of high rollers or big wins that casinos like to use for advertising doesn't make it better and won't mean that you'll win there. For instance Stake has a lot of traffic but it also has a lot of people posting bad stuff about it.

What I'm trying to say here is not that Stake is bad, but that a lot of people means a lot of sins and a lot of issues. Less people can mean less issues, faster response from support, and math stays the same. Your chances of winning in a casino with less high rollers and less traffic is the same.
316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Writing down the words under same roof as my siblings on: March 05, 2023, 12:15:03 PM
The risk in this is that it will only increase the curiosity of OP's siblings. A piece of paper inside a book, especially a boring one like something related to programming, especially if your siblings aren't into this stuff may remain hidden but if you buy a safe it will only let them know you're holding something valuable. A small safe can be easily stolen because it's light and easy to move.
If safe wouldn't stop OP's siblings to go though his stuff, then he has much bigger problems than how to securely store seed phrase. I don't know about you, but I personally wouldn't live with someone who I think is capable of stealing the whole safe.

If OP is worried about his siblings getting into his wallet after finding a bunch of words written on a piece of paper then I'm assuming the worst, which is that it's a bunch of mischievous scheming creatures lurking around the corner and waiting for him to leave the room to go through his stuff.

I have siblings and we're on a different level because the only thing I'd need to worry about with a paper wallet is that they would find it and throw it into the bin. They wouldn't know what a seed is and wouldn't even try to do anything with it. Maybe I'd find it remade into a paper plane or with a shopping list written on the other side.

If OP suspects they'd try to take over his bitcoin wallet, he already has some serious problems that a safe may or may not fix.
317  Other / Off-topic / Re: Rooted Mobile Device on: March 05, 2023, 11:08:29 AM
I am not a programmer or developer, but I take some warnings very seriously, especially when they pertain to where my assets are. I saw this on a friend's phone earlier today, and I asked him how long this had been, and he said a few weeks ago. I advise him to move his funds over to a safer device if he has a mobile wallet on it, and since he is a day trader, he should use his iOS until I figure this out.
This means he was playing around with apps. Root access means he can modify the system files. It doesn't mean the device is compromised or that someone is hacking him.

Quote
How can this rooting be removed from this device? If the phone is flashed and everything is wiped out, will the device be safe again? What amount of damage can a rooted device cause him?
I always believe I will get the best answers here.

Either install some of the available unrooting software or do a factory reset. Google android unrooting software and you'll see what I'm talking about.
318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Writing down the words under same roof as my siblings on: March 05, 2023, 10:59:35 AM
I'd remember just 1 word and hide the rest. It doesn't have to be the last word, it can be the first one too or the third one. You can even put a random word in the mix and mark it with something like a simple dot and you'll know that this one should be substituted with the one you remember. I doubt that your siblings will be smart enough to go through the list of seed words, trying every single one, until they get the right one, but if you forget your word, you could spend a day doing it and eventually recover the wallet.

Do your siblings have a habit of going through your stuff? If yes, then you could buy a  small safe as those things ain't too expensive ( you can find basic models for ~$50). If no, then there must be a place in your room where you can safely store it.

319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we experience $80k this year? on: March 01, 2023, 09:52:29 PM
I wouldn't rule out any possibility but I'd say that there's a much greater probability of us going to 80 000 this year than to 10 000 even though 10 looks like it's much closer.

That said, I don't think we'll reach either of these price points. We won't go lower because even the FTX collapse which was a very large event with panic levels at maximum according to both RSI and fear &greed couldn't take us lower than 15 000.

We also won't go to 80 because of FED. They're trying to crash the market because according to these assholes the employment in the country is too good so you have to lose your job for them to feel like a success.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 01, 2023, 08:49:36 PM
I said bad.

Even my self as the gambler, I always said is bad and never-ever want to ask or try to invited my friend from non-gambling user to gambler. I mean look at the cost, the problem is not only the person who are gambling.

But also, other people who are can get the effect.

I'd call it neutral. Gambling as an activity is op as long as you have it under control.

If you ask someone who won a lot of money playing poker if gambling is bad they'll tell you it's not but for that person to make a lot of money there had to be at least a few losers whose money he took.

There's no good or bad here. If you lose money or are an addict you'll say it's bad. If you win money you'll say it's good. More people lose so the "bad" side is going to be stronger.
