my sync test from zero still not complete
its not the fastest Wink
I'm not sure about SD but most flash drives are much slower at write than read ...
Doubt it's a network problem.

never said its a network problem
a normal PC also need like 3 - 4 days to sync from zero

and raspberry CPU is much slower so if then this is the bottleneck

for normal 24/7 no issue just 1 block every 52 sec

but sync 1.5 million blocks at single core 900mhz arm CPU need some time

sync not only mean download the blocks it means also verify the blocks are valid

download and write is sure no bottleneck

no normal drive or network cant be so slow to not able download and write 700 MB data in 3 days

Problems with QT? hope I don't run into same thing on ubuntu Sad

as i said its about language/keyboard recognizion inside the QT wallet for example german keymapping detect wrong keys pressed inside the QT wallet

u as default english language and keyboard user will have no issues i guess
3082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin -Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. June 11 2015 Client update on: March 21, 2016, 12:13:44 PM
very complictaed stuff that 2 coin solution
as i understajnd u wanted to keep miners and folders happy

so why not make just CC2 30% blocks POW blocks and 70% blocks folding blocks?

why two coins?

i think with such a solution u still can keep the non centralized solution fans happy

if u make only the POW part mechanic decide about the true chain

this way certificates used to secure injection of bad folding blocks

but the power about what is the true chain is still on POW and decentralized

update: regarding wasting energy and POW the way to create no additional waste is to use merged mining
this way no additional energy have to be burned

but i still think POW is just a bad choice

a block consensus like in NEM/XEM is ideal no waste of power
and none of pure POS flaws inside
in fact i think the most advances blockchain consence mechanism in existence

details u can find in whitepaper area "prove of importance"

my testing of rokos wallet show until yet troubles inside QT wallet gui and non english keyboards
that is reported to rokos devs and they have a look on it seems to be a issue with raspberry and QT language

my sync test from zero still not complete
its not the fastest Wink

i give update when sync finished
3084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official[ROKOS Flavors]Altcoins Fullnode Raspberry and IoT[Feedback/Discussion] on: March 20, 2016, 10:43:03 AM
Not exactly seeing what's wrong with those screenshots,

TT

the two area where the red line is show the same typed text

right side its ok left side in a QT wallet its not

that affect users who dont use english keyboards
3085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official[ROKOS Flavors]Altcoins Fullnode Raspberry and IoT[Feedback/Discussion] on: March 20, 2016, 02:12:31 AM
there seems to be some language and keybordlayout issues that affect non english users (german in my case)

as u can see here on right side i type qwertzuiopü and its ok on left side i type the same in dmd wallet and its not ok

same happend on energycoin wallet so its not a diamond wallet issue but somehow a issue how inside qt german language keyboard is handled

in this state its unuseable can not even type enter or numbers everything wrong mapped

i think the added value of ROKOS is a gui

else i can use headless wallets and console and ssh only but wont reach mainstream with easy wallet useage 5w cryptowallet device and os

update: just to clarify it works just wrong inside the qt wallets in console or other raspberry programs it works correct so its not related to the way i use raspberry (via xrdp)

why crypto4jan have a SOIL signature?

i myself part of many coin projects but would never use my sig for something else then my primary coin

is ENRG not his primary coin?

or there deeper links between that two coins?

Quote
.....SOILcoin has a small development team; consisting of Peter Spiel-Wechsler, our Lead Developer.....

is that the same peter who is now ENRG dev?

i had to choose what wallet i run as second beside DMD Diamond on my ROKOS raspberry

and i did choose ENRG Smiley

this two wallets run simultaneous perfect together

I have a suggestion for the wallet, might be easy IDK and make things easier for newbs Smiley
When a brand new wallet.dat/diamond.conf is created, would it be possible to set changeaddress= to the address created?

there is no diamond.conf created
a diamond.conf is always created by user

without diamond.conf wallet run for everything the default mode

we sure wont write a changeaddress= into a diamond.conf

this is a setting that affect transactions

for such a setting user is responsible

who runs a 24/7 wallet with a static ip and wants to be a DMD Diamond Community node?

nothing to be earned just a addnode line in diamond.conf template
3090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: March 19, 2016, 12:46:24 AM
but I would be afraid to keep thousands of DMD on a tablet of Chinese-made with cheap components.
what will happen if one day he simply will not turn on? make a backup of the purse every day quickly get bored.

ur coins are not on the tablet
ur coins are in  the blockchain
as long as u have the private keys of ur staking addresses
u can always access them

u dont need a backup of wallet.dat each day
the only reason why regulary wallet.dat backups make sence is because of change addresses
a old wallet.dat backup dont have new generated change addresses in it

if u use in diamond.conf the option
changeaddress=yourdesiredchangeaddress
u dont have to worry about that any longer
because no new addresses are generated each time u get change coins back

i have a digital backup of private keys and printed backup stored at different places
for me thats secure enough

if my pc explode even if my house burns down i dont lose a single coin
3091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: March 18, 2016, 11:30:35 AM
difference between stakebox and rokos as i see it is
rokos is free to download image with preinstalled wallet but u need to buy hardware on ur own (easy task mini comupter this days sold on lot places)
stakebox need ya to buy the hardware with preinstalled software (or is there a free img download avaiable too?)

i think each path will find its customers

rokos might be cheaper or even free if ya own hardware already like i did

stakebox is maybe easyer (i just guess i never used one myself)

but dont forget there is a 3rd path

just buy one of this cheap windows tablet that are on market now below 100€ too

and make it ur staking device

i think thats the most easy path
example a CHUWI Hi8 a sub 100$ windows table
http://techtablets.com/chuwi-hi8/review/

good enough to lay around at home and stake

@cryptonit
Nice, looking on Amazon @ Pi2, Pi3 complete ... looks like a good solution for staking 24/7/365 ... why Pi2 and not newer?
Yeah i'd say 64G minimum.

because i had the pi2 already

u could wait for pine64 that will have a 2gb ram version too
worth to consider it rokos will support it

special if u want to run multiple coin wallets the ram is the bottleneck

@cryptonit
How long does it take to startup DMD client? (loading blockchain etc), windows client takes several minutes to load from coldstart.  Not talking syncing just loading, from SD card must be quite slow ...

startup deepens mostly on hdd  access time speed (lot small pieces)

on my pc startup take below 1 min

and i expect the raspberry to beat any normal hdd a lot too because if u use a nice high performance
micro-sd SDHC (i use a 64 gb) it beat any hdd in access times special of lot small pieces like startup of a crypto wallet needs

so the magic solution is SSD if u want fast startup and a SDHC deliver nearly same boost because it have fast access times too

here a statement of a tech review:
Quote
SDHC cards have extremely fast access times that even rival expensive SSD storage drives. On the other hand, data transfer (read/write) times are quite slow … even by slow hard drive standards.

i can give ya startup times once i finished sync the chain

i run here a sync from zero to test that too

running headless raspberry pi2 (no monitor no keyboard no mouse) accessible with rdp over local network
the use os is ROKOS flavors v5 which include native DMD wallet support

a 5w staking device

some might say rdp (xrdp on linux) is insecure but in fact is use out of the box a encryption but u should set in conf to high (128 bit bidirectional)
Quote
sudo nano /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini
encrypt_level=high
and if u want more security u can use this for tunnel it through ssh http://c-nergy.be/blog/?p=6020

great, more rewards to me Cheesy

what a lack of understanding how POS works.....

i hope magic and joe take that more serious
3098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: March 17, 2016, 02:50:23 AM
just want to inform u that i stop run and stake XMG 24/7

the non optimized code that need constant micromanagement
and the tiny POS rewards make me use the CPU and RAM ressources to valuable to waste on XMG

as a major stakeholder im sad that this codeparts didnt get optimized at all after that long time

i have to question my very positive rating of XMG a bit and watch the upcoming dev work that will be released (if there ever will be one....)

I feel like I should be popped in the head with a wrench for asking this, but how to I run the ethereum miner included with nicehash miner? Do I need to create a config file and if so can I get an example?

Never mind I figured it out! I never ran the benchmark. Feel free to wrench me.

dont worry i myself had troubles with ETH and nicehashminer too
but in fact i run only nvidia cartds this days i earn same good on other algos

for AMD cards mine ETH will maybe still be the best option

the general increased profitability of GPU mining is based on ETH attract most AMD cards on it
and this way other algos did raise a lot in profitability too (less diff because less competition = increasing profit)

if ya have nice GPU take advantage of that
https://multipool.bit.diamonds/
the nicehashminer is linked on top of page
just use ur DMD Multipool BTC address to get ur income paid out as DMD

True, a search will bring up DMD first and that could be a positive Smiley

On another subject what is the status of fixing 9 day staking problem?

there is no staking problem just some code lines state 7 days min age now when in fact min age is 9 days

staking is working for everyone

in next wallet release the counterparts will show the correct 9 days min age same as code already behave now
