feedback regarding bootstrap

there is a difference between a presynced chain
that include blockindex and blockdata

and a bootstrap.dat

a presynced chain if copied into ur %appdata%/diamond folder is at next wallet startup used  and it continue to sync on top of it.
this means the wallet full trust it

a bootstrap.dat the wallet when start dedect and use it as a source to sync

this means any information stored in the boostrap.dat is read and verified by the wallet same way as it would sync from other nodes on the web

a bootstrap dat sync faster as from web but still u can expect 1 day sync time (high variable deepends on ur PC performance CPU/RAM/HDD but mostly HDD SSD would speed it up a lot)

once finished the wallet rename the file to bootstrap.old and u can delete the bootstrap file it will be never touched again by wallet

2683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 24, 2016, 08:03:42 AM
Is that easy to do without loosing my wallet?
simply stop wallet, insert new blockchain, restart ...
I would wait for a team member to verify this, but I am on correct chain and I can 7zip block chain and make it available to whomever needs it ... I would also delete peers.dat before restart wallet ... depends on which os u are on, on windows default location is in a obscure location, /Administrator/Appdata/roaming/Diamond, on linux in /home/username/.Diamond

A FAQ is definitely is need linked on BCT OP and DMD website ...

Here is a Diamond FAQ: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1478653.0

Solutions to some of these problems are already provided.

This is a work in progress and I will repost here and request link on the OP etc when complete.

Kind Regards

chilo

wow chilo

i love u!

Never mind. I went back to the old software (2.0.5.7) and it's connecting and downloading a new blockchain now.
So-far, got 0.14%... Gonnna take a while...

on first page of this ann threads are downloadlinks for blockchain
use them

dont use wallet 2.0.5.7 u will end in a fork if finish sync with it

in case u get no connections on first page of ANN also a example conf is written with addnodes
2686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 07:16:07 PM
Looks like staisybit.com may be forked ... stuck at 6666.9 for 9+ days

im in touch with him
but response times are out of experience very slow....

they still suffer from their service relaunch which was much more work than they expected and still so much work to be done

they behind schedules everywhere

still i trust them because i know a lot guys involed not only alberto himself but also 2 of his german partners

we work with them together at the federated blockchain initative too
2687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOXT] - NobleNXT Proposal/Whitepaper - Noble's 1st Colored Coin on: May 23, 2016, 06:12:08 PM
Where can I download wallet? Or is it not? Huh

use NXT wallet, NOXT is a NXT asset
https://nxt.org/

and as a NXT asset it can be traded there too

so even if unlisted everwhere else it can be traded
2688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DRAFT FOR A PLUGIN BASED BLOCKCHAIN FEDERATION & WE ARE STARTING 7 Teams JOINED on: May 23, 2016, 05:39:00 PM
i saw rumor that noble is going with this is this true? cool project idea. i like the idea of making comunity based coins work together and a blockchain platform to facilitate moves together maybbe

i strong hope so
i know rofo would for sure but he focus on NOXT
the problem is noble is managed i think now by eagleflies so u need to get in touch with him
2689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 05:08:56 PM
but I have always been this way, cryptonit knows LOL.
I disagree most of the time with most decisions
but I think about them a while longer and sometimes change my mind.

i have wasted enough time here.

u might be a nice dude
and we could have a fun evening drink a beer together
talking about crypto

but as so often the first contact have a major impact
on the opinion that u link to someone
and that can be hard changed

in our case thats true in both directions

its in human nature to make his life difficult
me too should have stopped much earlier this discussion with u
which create no happiness on both sides
2691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 01:17:45 PM
jesus christ - you really are beyond help

i just want to help u to have the correct understanding
what it means if u run a DMD Diamond wallet or buy DMD Diamonds on a crypto exchange

i think lot of the aggression are based on the wrong expectation that u are our customer

we all share the same risc by buy/mine/mint DMD
(there was no premine DMD Diamond Foundation members did buy/mine/mint coins like everyone else)

but only a few of us are active work for this project to become successful
(not only DMD Diamond Foundation also a lot other active community members best example chilo
or even utahjohn who (beside his dr jekyl mr hide syndrom which noone can understand)
did some great active work for DMD for example help pools to be set up and get wallets running on new mini computers)

i accept that u are not working for the success of the project

still im willing to answer any serious questions as good as i can

2692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 12:52:08 PM
but YOU are supposed to be professionals, NOT your 'end-users'

we are crypto enthusiasts
and DMD Diamond is experimental open source software like every other bitcoin based coin too

u can join us in this voyage or not

but u are not our "end-users"
we dont sell u coin or services
even DMD cloudmining is a contribution to a supportive project and not a business grade contract
same for Legendary10 addresses

we all are here in a landgrapping phase of a new technology and economic shift
based on crypto-currencies and blockchain technology

in a few years yes there will be companies and true company -> end user relationships and responsibilities
but this i expect to happen for the next layer of services that will be set on top of the cryptocoin/blockchain layer that is establishing now

if u seek a playground in a high regulated market than u should invest and trade at normal stock exchanges

if u join the wild wild west goldrush u should be prepared for bullets and outlaws
even if we are the good guys we know the environment and what happens left and right
75% of coins created after bitcoin are dead non serious and lot of them even with criminal intentions

this was back in 2013 a main reason why we did takeover DMD Diamond
because we can trust in our own work and it was hard that time to trust any coin

if u trust in us u welcome
if u dont trust in us u welcome to leave
but no way see urself as our customer
we didnt sell u anything

u alone are full responsible for ur actions
that include download and run cryptowallets
buy and trade cryptocoins

always follow the golden rule
consider any $ u spend in cryptospace as lost
(=dont spend a $ u cant afford to lose)
and u can only win
and sleep without headache
2693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 12:08:16 PM
^^^ ahh thank you both, will give it a shot when i get home, not too worried though. it was my fault, was late to update wallet.

lessons learned for us is to give more days time to upgrade before a mandatory upgrade trigger go active

but its clear never u will reach 100% of people to upgrade in time

thats why we need a FAQ where this always same steps to fix a broken local chain are explained

im very happy that our longterm community member chilo did takeover that task

thx again for ur effort

looks good thumbs up

2695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 11:31:55 AM
whats the command to run a repair/diagnostic on the wallet? i downloaded the bootstrap, got everything set but am missing 700 DMDs. never had that issue before, i think its fine as my address on the chain still shows the proper balance.

if u staked or did transactions inside the fork then checkwallet repairwallet will fix it and u get ur full coin age back so u can stake it again at true chain without any loss
2696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CryptoChainer.com: Blockchain Archives for Fast Wallet Sync! on: May 23, 2016, 11:17:36 AM
DMD Diamond have a new mandatory wallet release
https://github.com/DMDcoin/Diamond/releases

would be great if u have a up2date chain

so we can point users in case of updatetroubles to ur great service

Diamond blockchain updated, current as of today 5/13/16, from new wallet version.

thx can u update to one dated after 16th
this way user dont have to sync through the fork blocks and are for sure on the main chain

thx a lot for ur service

please provide a DMD donation address

found it

Diamond donation address: dY1SAbxQKdwbHzniXSFN3eSi9bjs824zBE

50 DMD donated (~ 12 $ )

but my wallet is third day not synced... i tried 2.1 daemon  and today i compiled qt version too and it dont syncing too... i have 13 connections. and i am on block 1557381... have to wait more or what?

hi pisko

if u cant sync up to the actual block of main chain (visible at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dmd/ )

if u didnt update until 14th may its very likely u did sync into a fork of old non updated wallets

a local blockchain that did sync into that fork cant sync into the main blockchain

to solve this u need to replace the local blockchain files with the files we provide as a download (link on first page)

after this u will be able sync up

as always whenever u touch the %appdata%/diamond folder make sure u make a backup of ur wallet.dat before

also make sure u did delete the peers.dat file

and use no conf
or a conf that include this nodes

addnode=213.136.80.93
addnode=37.187.176.193
addnode=213.229.0.41
addnode=167.114.184.20
addnode=193.136.97.30
addnode=193.136.96.30

we are in contact with cryptopia and the status is this:

cryptopia run a 2.1.0.1 wallet now

withdraw is working

cryptopia run a wallet with over 11000 addresses and when they run this wallet.dat their client is crashing after some time

in the time until they going to delist DMD they will restart client every few minutes

this is a issue only reported by cryptopia and because end of 2016 we will switch to a complete different codebase anyway

DMD Diamond Foundation can only invite cryptopia to add DMD 3.0 then if for now for them run dmd 2.1.0.1 is not possible

bittrex for example or big pools like miningfield and danbi doesnt face such issue this is the reason why after the 2.1.0.x hotfix

all dev manpower will go into DMD 3.0 and not focus on a issue single user experience

and there is for example always to solution way to import the registered user addresses in a new wallet (they sure have not 11000 users who did deposite DMD)

and this way slim down the wallet in a state where 2.1.0.1 show no issues

(just as a info whole DMD network have only  ~5000 addresses who hold coins so a wallet maintainance should be easy get rid of many empty addresses on their end)

my answer to cryptopia i did point them to this posting and additional wrote them:

Quote
i suggest u slim down the wallet by import the user deposit addresses in a new wallet.dat send all user funds into a main cryptopia address and use the changeaddress=cryptopiamainaddress line in conf

this way in future u never will reach 11000 addresses again and have a smooth wallet experience
2699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: May 23, 2016, 07:47:08 AM
cryptonit

as far as I know noirc = 1 is configured by default in the wallet. so there is no need to write it in the conf file.
right?

it is default that IRC is not used
but to have it stated in conf too doesnt hurt

little explaination

IRC was used in the early days of bitcoin based wallets to find new nodes

but the way it works u find there only old non updated nodes this is why its disabled by default

the way a basic set of nodes is found is now via seednodes

and with them u exchange peers lists so u fast explorer all wallets that are up to date

What I asked is hardly aggressive in anyway.
But if you want to play a victim after your supporters normally insult and use profanity against others, whatever.

What is the Dev's BTCtalk name , since he is hiding behind DMDcoin alias.

What are you so vague in giving his/her BTCtalk name and why is he/her afraid to post here or communicate with exchanges?

DMDcoin is managed by alex popshot

but it seems u still dont understand how to read github
all contributor names are visible there
