What the fuck?

You know, I've always wanted to call you an arrogant fuck, but your vocabulary is pretty goddamn impressive.

Unfortunately, your mom's vocabulary is shit-awful.  Tell that nasty skank to read a book.

Edit:  Oh yeah...I voted you worst forum member of the year.  Bitch.

Hey Phinnaeus, what's with all these moulinyans?
3123  Economy / Goods / Re: Girl Scout Cookies for BTC on: March 01, 2012, 03:40:29 AM
Jesus Christ, those Thin Mints are awesome.

Anybody ever take a small bite off the top of one, dunk it into a glass of milk with the bitten-off part pointing up, and then watch the little air bubbles rise out of the cookie and proceed to float on top of the milk?

Mmm...meditation.

3124  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: no difficulty increase? on: March 01, 2012, 03:26:24 AM
oh yeah, that makes a lot more sense.  But then it makes even less sense.  It makes about as much sense as those last two sentences :-P  Let me explain.  For this last period of 2016 blocks, the mining speed appears to have been overall more above the line than below it.  So that means 2016 blocks should have gotten done faster.  And yet on the 2nd graph on their page, it's obvious that it's been a few extra days compared the last 30 or so difficulty adjustments but that "above the baseline" increase is massive.  How can that be?

Well, according to allchains.com and bitcoinwatch.com, we still have 188 blocks left before the next difficulty adjustment.

I don't think it's been 2 weeks yet since the last difficulty adjustment...
3125  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Chesscoin.com 100 Contest!! on: March 01, 2012, 03:05:58 AM
As a newcomer to chess (been playing about 3 months), I think using a chess-bot is absolute bullshit mid-game.

Unless, of course, you wrote the program.  If you wrote a very good chess bot, then my guess is that you know the game well enough that I would probably concede before I even began.

BTW, if you're playing against a bot, keep an eye out for a good sacrifice that helps you gain a great positional advantage.  Most chess-bots seem to opt for grabbing material when it's there for the taking.
3126  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: no difficulty increase? on: March 01, 2012, 02:59:35 AM
^^Yep.

Imagine if everybody stopped mining immediately except for some dude with a single NVIDIA card hashing away.

It would take ages for the difficulty to readjust.
3127  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cash out or keep bitcoins? on: March 01, 2012, 02:43:42 AM
I've made the vast majority of my profit when the price of BTC falls.  If I had held from the beginning, I'd be down about 400%.  Instead, I'm currently up around 1500%.  There are merits to cashing out if you're a good trader.

There are also merits to buying low and selling very, very, very high   Cheesy
3128  Economy / Goods / Re: BitcoinMint.US is now offering Silver, Nickel & Copper American Eagles for BTC! on: March 01, 2012, 02:37:11 AM
Edit:  Any plans for gold?   Grin

I don't receive many requests for gold, so I'm not sure it will be worth me carrying it as a product.  However, I may grab a couple 1/10 oz gold and platinum coins next time I restock so customers have the option.  If you want gold or platinum sooner, just PM me with what you want and I can special order it, shipped to you directly from my supplier.

PM sent Smiley
3129  Economy / Auctions / Re: 1G SILVER AMERICAN EAGLE - ends 3/4/12 @ 3:00pm EST on: February 29, 2012, 11:47:07 PM
0.420

spot/melt price on 1 gram of silver is about $1 US - a little more.

.420 x 4.85 (current market) = $2.037

The last bid was ~200% market value.  Huh

Hydro included in rent = FREE
Hacking neighbourhood Wireless = FREE
Clicking a few clicks, typing 4.20 = FREE

Having silver actually arrive from hundreds of miles away to my door and NOT having to pay with VISA = Priceless

I get it. I was just pointing out where we were in the auction already. Comparing the cost of one item in one currency to its value in another doesn't prove or disprove its value, either.

Local shipping was included with bids. I figured 0.2 for the coin, 0.2 for shipping.. good deal, throw in 0.02 cause im high and excited to win my first silver gram.. sweeet

@ thejoint, 300-400% resale value nice, but im looking to collect for awhile

I say 300-400% because of the minting costs of producing such a small coin.  Check ebay out and see what 1g pieces are going for (I'm seeing between $2-$5 depending on the shipping).

And good luck, if I don't outbid you   Grin
3130  Economy / Auctions / Re: 1G SILVER AMERICAN EAGLE - ends 3/4/12 @ 3:00pm EST on: February 29, 2012, 11:20:11 PM
You could probably resell a 1g silver round (especially in mint condition) for 300-400%
3131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Litecoin Prosper? on: February 29, 2012, 11:18:01 PM
It has no valid use.

So probably not...

It's essentially Bitcoin with less security.

There are plenty of uses for a currency to compliment Bitcoin. Just having an alternative to Bitcoin is reason enough to have Litecoin.  It is all new to everyone, and could have many possibilities that we haven't seen yet.  I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable with any of the other alternates out there.

Absolutely.  Litecoin touts itself as the silver to Bitcoin's gold, and when I mine them, it kind of feels that way.  I truly hope it DOES prosper and work in tandem with the Bitcoin economy.
3132  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Abortion and Morality on: February 29, 2012, 11:06:38 PM
Two questions that must be addressed before talking about the morality of abortion:

1)  Who decides what is right and what is wrong?
2)  How do you know if the decision maker is correct?

I would say that anybody can decide what is right and what is wrong.  The 2nd question is a whole different ball game.

I must say though, I think the Golden Rule is a WONDERFUL ethical principle.  It is Universal (distributes to everyone) at the same time that it takes into account individual circumstance and/or perspective.

For tough ethical questions like these, I follow the Golden Rule.

Isnt' that avoiding the question?

Let me remind you of it: if its morally OK for a woman to have an abortion that kills any unborn thingy inside her, how can it be immoral for her to have an abortion that only kills female unborn thingies.

The golden rule says you are allowed to intervene to stop someone doing something wrong.  My question was how can abortion on demand be OK if abortion to select a sex is wrong?

I sort-of avoided the question because my previous post implies the possibility of simultaneous right/wrong states according to the Golden Rule.  Two people can abide by the Golden Rule and reach entirely different conclusions.  I think it's entirely possible that someone can think it's OK for a woman to have any abortion, but think that it's not OK for a woman to have an abortion given that she knows the fetus is female, and be completely right about it.

I personally don't hold that view   Cheesy

3134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: openCL problems on: February 29, 2012, 10:21:31 PM
Thanks for your reply mate will look into that tomorrow!

Don't worry.  I thought I was fairly proficient with computers until I learned about Bitcoin and tried to start mining.  It took me between 3-10 hours to get myself up and running (depending on if you take into account all the Bitcoin research I did immediately prior to setting up my miner).

This stuff isn't easy, and anybody on this forum who claims that it's easy lives in a bubble.

I received it, but I should note that I received .05 BTC as well and I had made exactly 10 posts.

Edit:  Nevermind.  I got .1 BTC  Grin  I should've waited an extra 2 minutes to catch up with the blockchain.

3137  Other / Off-topic / Re: Valid Arguments on Whether Drugs Should Be Legalized for Personal Consumption on: February 29, 2012, 12:10:33 PM
Drugs should definitely remain illegal.  Personal freedom is not an issue when addiction is a part of the equation.  Once you go down that path, you sacrifice the ability to exercise your free will and the government must step in for your own good.

Not to mention the damage addicted individuals due to society.  They rob whatever they can and hurt the people around them, family and strangers.  Alcohol was not just prohibited in the name of Christianity, it was one of the first moments where women began to flex political power even before they gained the vote, the goal was to stop their drunk husbands from smacking them around.

The point is that people can choose to use drugs regardless of the law.  They are exercising their freedom, and if they choose to place their own constraints upon themselves through drug use leading to addiction, that is their right.  Wouldn't you agree that it is better for someone to erect his own constraints than for someone else to attempt to do it for him?  Choosing to use drugs is exercising freedom, not sacrificing it.  Also, the vast majority of illicit drugs are recognized for their medicinal properties in many cultures (nicotine is a classic example, and it is used in many Amazonian tribal cultures to cure illnesses even in infants, an act that would be considered child abuse in Western societies).

What about fatty foods?  Should they be illegal as well considering all the harm they can cause to the friends and family of the morbidly obsese, not to mention the implicated costs of treating morbid obesity through state and government funded programs like Medicaid and Medicare that are paid with our taxes?

In my opinion, freedom is made more precious and meaningful because people can choose to exercise it for harm to self or others.  Effective use of freedom is a testament to wisdom and intelligence.
3138  Other / Off-topic / Re: Valid Arguments on Whether Drugs Should Be Legalized for Personal Consumption on: February 29, 2012, 02:46:26 AM
Laws prohibiting drug use mitigate freedom.

But Bruno is right; the Christian majority doesn’t care if freedom is compromised. They only care about what’s in their best interest as they see it. Oh, and having sex with little boys they care about that too.

I think the Christian majority, in the same general sense as you refer to them, don't really have many concrete values that they can truly call their own.  I don't think they really know what they value unless its handed to them on a silver platter or at gun point.  I don't think they've taken the time to reason their way to faith or belief.

Hands down the finest coins I own.

Would gladly do business again, and you should too!
