321  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 26, 2014, 10:49:33 PM
If you do not overclock them you can do fine with a proper psu giving 550+ watts but what some claim your are far better of with a more powerfull one
The highest efficiency is still when the psu gives around 50% of its power so in all buying a cheap weak psu limits you and costs you more power.
Second if you do want to overclock you sure as hell will see how much a ant can pull.

If you do not live in one of the expenssive power costing countries you can oc as much as you want, but for me it turns out that i better downclock the ants so they use less juice at a still decent speed.
I think in my case lowering clock speed below 350 will be more rewarding for me.
322  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 26, 2014, 10:28:30 PM
I paid 28+ btc for 8 boards + 2 miniplane + 1 double scroll + express postage.

Received the boards just for christmas send them to england for repair , they came back 3th week januari

In all the extra costs for sending dead board, repairs ,customs and last but not least taxes i had another 210 euro in costs

I will not count all the extra bought cables the rpi the several usb hubs 5 x 120 + 140mm fans and the usb cables if i had to count those this would end up in an extreme costly miner.

So they ran 145 Gh on avg in which they often died after a few hours and the endless times to reboot and get them to run stable i think i got in those 30 days running at say max 10 hours a day real mining given the diff i started you can calculate that i did not got much back.

My energy price is 0.32 dollar per Kwh so what did i make back .... you guessed it indeed nothing i got barely my energy back from these.
Because even though they are not mining and hang in a endless loop they still burn energy and produce heat ... thats not fiction but truth.

The one who made up many of these losses and costs is still my knc box. I am still struggling to get these db's to run stable.
Changed os many times, bought an rpi just for this boards since that was looking promising at first.
Have been testing countless hours turning them on and off.
I am glad that i do not know how they ran before repair, and actually had no time to test those days just before christmas so sending them instant for repair was the best option for me. So i have no idea if they could have run faster then before. But the board i got which replaced the dead board was repaired different but is in my case the slowest of all. So is it because of the repairs i do not know.
The only thing i know is that i can not get them to run stable above a certain speed, the speed on itself is important but i would not care if they would not crash so often. I can not have them in the house ( because playing children and the wifes who own those kids kill you if they get hurt by your toys)
Yes i had one connected on my pc and that ran for short time at 50:2:950 but again added another board and poof again messed up.
Ofcourse that was not long time testing but i can not let these things in the house for hours, without the woman and kids getting near this.
In the garage they are high and safe from kids hands and do not come near the ladies who hate these stupid toys which men call their miners.
Even if you say it CAN pay money they still hate them , why because if i am home i spend alot of time getting them to run....
And then we are back to beginning its a endless loop.
The knc and ants run ... i hardly have to check them they simply run and make coins at this moment about 0.08 btc a day and the db boards make lets see 0.004 btc of that if the pools i am at do not hit another 20 Billion shares block which seems to be normal these days.

I hear some of you think sell them ... well i am tempted but i am scared the people buy them make my life miserable when they do not get what they see some others are getting and was promised when they was for sale.
And i can not give them the guarantee the boards run like some do for weeks without crashing, again mine do crash about 2 to 4 times a day.
I tested any solution i saw and not one of them works to satisfaction, the other problem is if i try sell them people at first say i pay you $$$ and when it comes to paying they suddenly lower the amount and say yes but now its blah blah.
I am tired of that BS and all the scamming and bad things in the coin world.
Yes there are a few good guys out there which i do trust alot, but their are not many.
Almost everyone nowadays only thinks about himself, that is the cold truth.
So enough ranting back to the wife who got pissed again at the miner because one of the fans cut a piece of my finger Cheesy

Available  hahaha serious nobody not even knc has 20 nm chips available nor do any of the competition have any
And they have a 15 Th machine available now common guys its impossible
The only ones able to get these machines out now are the know ones who have experience with 28 nm products

324  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 25, 2014, 12:55:44 PM
I feel the with you i can not get these boards to run faster
So i might be lucky i never saw them hash before the repair, i might have broken some walls out of frustration if i did.
But nevertheless i see people posting speeds these boards never will make, when i connected 1 board direct on my pc it ran at 950 but guess what it did the same speed as it did at 48:2:850 so exact same speed only higher voltage
But again when i took another board and put it onto the same usb mainboard connector they began to asic unresponssive blah blah again
325  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 25, 2014, 11:19:20 AM
Got them back alive on the old v7 image and slowly increasing speed again....
btw any settings on 1:750 or 2:750 failed it gave an error and crashed
I got them back alive with 48:2:850 but it might have helped that i shut them down for 4 minutes without juice as well
326  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 25, 2014, 08:52:21 AM
Ok lets see if feeding them one by one is helping

Experiment number 12,234,123

I hope i get to see the serials as well

Update got the serials inserted however still one board constant blowing 100% HW errors with bfgminer
lowered settings now back to 50:2 on all boards to see if that helps things
Sadly even with 48:2 still one board at random constant giving 100% fail
reboot makes another board take its spot and endless stream of 100% fail continues
Its if the boards not respond on the serial as well, it simply runs at about 100 Gh

now the endless pain to get the boards to run again Sad .... SIGH

not as root ?
huh
328  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 24, 2014, 10:30:59 PM
Is this an ant or usb miner ?

If its an S1 do set the country at the system settings and google for a local ntp server

My provider has its own time sever so took that
And i entered 2 more well known time servers ( most use ntp.x  or time.x format)

Then check if you filled the proper wan settings
And most important if you used a free ip on your local lan

One other important setting is the network dns and the gateway
As a gateway in most cases you need to set the modem/router you have which you can access
If you got a good modem/router you could see your miner in the modem as being a ip you gave it.

As primary dns i allways fill the modem/router ip in my case being 192.168.2.1
The secondairy dns i filled my providers real DNS server which you can ask.
And my last one is the either 8.8.8.8 or the backup dns from google 8.8.4.4
then the broadcast address which means you local lan can find the miner should be alsmot similar to your modems ip except the last number that should be 254, in my example 192.168.2.254
(this is the normal end of a ip chain of 255 numbers starting from 0 to 254)

That covers almost instant every search request and your needed numbers if that does not help there is something else wrong.

329  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 24, 2014, 10:14:18 PM
After repairs none of my boards would run higher than default.  I average 17-19 gigahashes per board.  Before repairs my slowest board ran 22+ at 52:2:950.

Chad

Same speeds here Chad average around 18 Gh
8 Boards should be 160 Gh plus but its more like 140 to 150 on average if you lucky they run at all
330  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 24, 2014, 10:01:05 PM
That is a long ago posted problem i have 8 boards which in no way want to run at 950

At least not if they are connected to the miniplanes and double scroll
In fact it has been since i got them a enormous issue to get them working at all

Every day i MUST reset the whole miner setup 2 times to make sure it does not crash and is dead for many hours
If i put one board direct into my pc with a fat usb cable ( not the tiny ones delivered by the boards) but one which i got for my ereader i can get it running with 49 or 50:2:950 v
As soon as i add another board the asic error hell starts and ends in cgminer crashing, so if i would have 8 pc's i could run them at 50:2:950 and maybe higher. But to be honest i do not have high hopes for that experiment either.

Sometimes when i am lucky the board start instant at 50:2:850, the 50 is the magic number here.
But often that will not work then it takes lots of tries and restarts till they run again
Often takes about 4 to 7 times before they start hashing again, reflashing these bastards have helped a few times but often does not help much.
They start by hashing at say 1 to 5 Ghash and slowly start to  go up and if they are in a good mood they start running slow and see the asic errors disappear.

I have no clue what the boards did before i send them to the repair guy, i never had ran them they was after i received them end december direct to the repair guy hoping i got lucky to see them shortly after christmas returned but even that turned out being end januari.

I tried running them under win in either x86 or x64 versions like xp, 7 , 8 , 8.1 and tried ubuntu , raspberry linux every time i can only get them running stable for a few hours and often they simple crash the whole miner thing
When i use cgwatcher under windows which restarts every 4 hours i had the most luck, but even that ended sometimes in a horrible system crash.
However i do have a wife and other family members and small children in my small house often, so you can guess what the ladies want with this miner things....
You probably guessed it right they must move out of the house. So they are now on a small cabinet in my garage. sharing the cramped space with some real miners.
Actually temp wise it was a good move, they are now between 20 and 30 C max. my little house is not nearly as cold as the garage where the temp at this moment is below 12 C and in the cold days even was -5 C which made the miners run at a nice 16 to 23 C funny enough the boards with the highest temp are the 2 just above the lowest ones.
So in all its every day a challenge to keep them working they are now on a psu which is 1600 watts feeding only 2 antminers and the 8 db boards connected to the r.pi
I tried the image given by TK1337 which runs bfgminer but that gave another weird result
7 boards run ok ( even a bit faster then i ever get them on the old) but one board pumps out at least 95% errors
Now comes the hard part.... every time i reboot the machine another board is suddenly the failing one.
So after endless tries on getting them to run with that image i gave up and moved back to the old v7 image with cgminer 3.8.5 and keep them running at the same old setting and each day do the routine by restarting the crap and check as many times i can to see the crap still runs.
Yes i say crap, did i mention they are crap.
The freaking ants i never ever have to watch if they run.
My knc box which is making up the enormous losses i made on these db boards less painfull
Had 2 repairs and took many weeks before knc took them to get repaired but now i never have to look at it.
Runs and mine as it should these are the real ones the super nice boxes.
Setup once and never have to look at them .... well hardly ever Cheesy
331  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: February 24, 2014, 06:54:27 PM
I can not get my freaking boards over average 18 Gh with 50 to 52:2:850
And no i do not have a place to put each board on a seperate usb port and i did not pay 1 btc for those connector boards to not use them at all .......

I've re-updated your order so you receive your tracking number - if you haven't received it in the next few minutes please check your spam folder, as we've been having issues with our system emails being marked as spam:)

Warm Regards,

Donna
The OpenRigs Team

that is one of the emails posted at 09-01-2014

Its funny that our biggest and official postal provider has no clue about your tracking codes and said they can not see anything being send anywhere from the planet being forwarded to my address
Thats is all i know and can reply, even if it was send by ocean it would have arrived along time ago.

Why is nothing of this all mentioned on the website.
how come the last available version on the offiicial website is still the buggy 0.88
334  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: February 24, 2014, 10:57:51 AM
Still its like multibit is dead no changes in the last months
Even though the client suffer from weird blockchain loading problems
I have to reload the blockchain many times, to see what i have received or what is another fake pay
The same goes for the competition
335  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: February 24, 2014, 09:50:49 AM
My initial order number was 633 i checked it, payed at 11 november 2013

In december i had received a so called update that the package was send.

In januari i asked where my package was and what the track and trace info is from december
The woman answering me send me that for whatever excuses they had to make a new.

Now so many months later,  I get an answer to ask my local postage to find the package.
Its impossible to ask a local postage operator to find a package especially one they never heard of or does not exist in their system
And you people really know that it is impossible, the only one who can really find a package is the one sending.

Hell I can walk to South Africa and back faster then this so called postage company and i start to believe even that is a fake.
I really am getting angry, pissed and very aggressive.

Your lucky its far away
336  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: February 24, 2014, 09:29:41 AM
I ordered in october 2013 and still am waiting
Got a so called track and trace which only shows send from  Capetown South Africa
And now Almost being March 2014 still no progress and nothing received
On my question where the package is, i get an answer THAT I SHOULD CONTACT our postage which ofcourse says thats IMPOSSIBLE
starts to smell enormous Fishy on this side, and i fear it ends in i never get the few alu pipes and my money vaporated
337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 21, 2014, 01:26:55 AM
You can stop the ants by login with ssh
and type:  sudo shutdown now
it asks for the password again and shuts down like it should
338  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: February 18, 2014, 06:34:24 AM
Just keep an eye on the Hw errrors as long as it stays well below a certain % your fine
Most people who overclock keep it below 5% , i am more picky and wanna see less the 2.5 % hw errors
most are clocked at 375 or 387.5 and 1 is clocked at 393 since a few days
339  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer 180 ghs not working on: February 18, 2014, 06:10:10 AM
Did you follow the guide here with the setup instructions
I can't escape the idea that you did not fill in the/a proper ip address in the wan section
Or that you made a mistake with the dns addresses
Or that there is a firewall or modem blocking the traffic

It ofcourse all depends on you local net which is often anything like 192.10.1.x and endless variations in this
Often your modem is also the local router and has a number which is again basically the same but in general is 192.10.1.1 so any address for your lan x.x.x.1 is often the router
The same goes for the broadcast address which normally is allways 192.10.1.254 again the local lan and then x.x.x.254

I set most of the time the primary dns as x.x.x.1 which in my example is 192.10.1.1
And as secodairy i use for myself the provide dns which in my example is 196.123.123.128 or as many do 8.8.8.8 which is the google free dns
In my setup i use any of the main google dns servers 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 you can google for all the others but in general if you pick the router first and a good second you probably am fine going online.
If you really am not able to get it running contact me in pm to see if i can help you setup in other ways

As ip address you need ofcourse a free number which is not used on you local net so if your pc uses 192.10.1.11 you can not use that address because its your pc

So you need to check in your router which are used and then pick a free number from 2 to 253.
In my case i have 17 devices using their own address :

modem/router - 192.10.1.1
server             - 192.10.1.2
laser printer    - 192.10.1.3
color printer    - 192.10.1.4
htc phone       - 192.10.1.5

And so on so each device has its own by me set ip
which is also very handy if you need to make contact from outside whenever its needed
If you want to use the wifi you do similar on the lan page but that need some more settings
But again those are also described in the setup guide
340  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: February 17, 2014, 10:32:05 PM
I have disconnected the broken board from the miner so i guess i can still run the remaining board
That way i loose less mining power, waiting for them to asnwer
