321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Loses $400K Bitcoin Bet on Jake Paul’s Bout on: February 28, 2023, 07:49:53 PM
However, Drake losing in gambling is not surprising anymore as he had lost thousands before this one. He isn't the only one who lost I should say, there were too many people just rooting for Jake and the bookies themselves seem to have confirmed it thru the odds.

$400k in one game, I could never get to do that even if I have millions. For Drake, I think it's forgivable. Drake had also made a lot of money many times through Jake's fights. The article says so.

Famous musicians like these lifestyles.

I've read once that 50cent went bankrupt despite making millions of dollars every year. He was living such a lavish lifestyle, buying so many houses he really couldn't afford and hosting parties all the time that he eventually run out of money.

Drake likes to gamble, we all know that Gamblers sometimes lose money and those who bet a lot lose a lot.

On his defense the fight was very close and Fury almost lost by being knocked down. A split decision means the fight could go both ways.

I knew Fury would win. Posted about it in the prediction thread but many people were making fun of this saying he can't jab and similar things. Drake should've listened to me LOL.
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IMF reject BTC adoption on: February 28, 2023, 07:27:49 PM
Does IMF stand for International Institute of Mother Fuckers? If yes then that'd explain a lot. If not then who cares, right? Bitcoin is a rogue element in this totalitarian world of fiat ruled economy.

They do because they're a group that looks for poor countries in need of loans and offer these loans and wrapping it all in a pretty packaging by saying they wantthe world to prosper and countries to realize their goals. It's all a bunch of lies. They're a business.

What would people say if you were going from one poor neighbor to another, picking people in trouble like addicts, people with ongoing court cases and such and offering them loans with extreme conditions like you'd take a room in their apartment and use it for whatever you like if they won't be able to pay in time. People will say that you're abusing them. That you're just a leech and a crook.

When they're doing it to whole countries it's somehow a different thing.

323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good wallet I can use to store Bitcoin? on: February 28, 2023, 07:10:09 PM
Do you mean the drug?
I actually thought OP was referring to liquid-staking derivatives until I saw his username.

Maybe it's liquid-staking derivative adventure Cheesy

I was introduced to LSD but I am more interested in buying Bitcoin first.

I agree with you OP, LSD can wait, buy bitcoin first. There's always a good time to get high, but there's not always a good time to buy bitcoin.

What wallet to use if not Blockchain wallet?

Listen to your friend and buy a ledger or Trezor especially if you're holding more than 1000 USD because a wallet is just $100. Worth every penny.
If you have less than that or want to be a cheap bastard (Wink) just install Electrum and use that. I think that Electrum is the best free wallet on the market.

324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bold step to invest my fiat in Bitcoin on: February 28, 2023, 06:52:17 PM
Welcome to the Bitcoin club!
$5 worth of Bitcoin today might be work $50 tomorrow, who knows!?

I hope you are holding your coins in a safe wallet. Is that a Binance P2P purchase on the picture? Did you leave your coins on Binance or did you withdraw them elsewhere?
First of all, I would never advice anyone to hold coins on an exchange but (there is always a but) in your case, it makes more sense than withdrawing them. Let me explain why. You own 0.00027... BTC. Binance's withdrawal fee (I am assuming that is Binance on the image) over the real Bitcoin blockchain is 0.0002 BTC. Not only that, but you don't have enough for a withdrawal. But you have enough to withdraw fake bitcoins. Don't let Binance trick you into withdrawing bitcoin over some alternative networks like its native Smart Chain or as a BEP2 token. Those are centralized and pegged BTC tokens and not the real bitcoin.

As much as I love bitcoin this example shows that it's not the best way for the poor to save money. If $5 is a lot of money for our OP and it has to be because he's willing to celebrate the purchase and I bought a cappuccino at starbucks today for $4 and then had to spend $50 to "feed" my car.

What we've learned today?

You spend pennies on bitcoin at a centralized platform, you'll spend it all on fees.
You think you bought $20 of bitcoin, but in reality you have probably 5 left, unless you get yourself fooled again and change it to a stable coin or some shitcoin in search of lower fee.
I see no way for these exchanges to be attractive in poor countries unless they drop these ridiculous fees.
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is there so much resistance for Bitcoin reaching $25,000 on: February 28, 2023, 06:38:31 PM
I think its because it turned into psychological resistance as most fellow members claimed here. 20000 dollar level looked like impossible to surpass couple of months back. You can all remember. But we passed that by help of bulls of crypto markets. I think 25000 looks similar. If united states dollars get weaker through time, financial markets will get stronger. Result will be Bitcoin breaking 25000 level and hitting above 30000 in no time. This is my thought.

It has a lot to do with the last all time high and the mining profitability. I've ready some studies that claimed bitcoin profitability for the majority of mining farms is above 20 000 USD and below that they have to either sell at a loss or hold on to their coins hoping for a recovery.

Many miners must have chosen not to go bankrupt but take a loan to pay their bills and keep mining and holding their coins when we were at 15-20 thousand and those people are now slowly selling but trying not to crash the price so instead of dumping it all they are placing sell orders at levels that give them some profit like 24 and 25 000.

I think that most of the sell pressure at these levels comes from miners and people who bought below 19000 to speculate and see 25 as a good enough level to exit with some profit. Once the miner savings are redistributed we'll start moving forward.

Is there a wink for others as well? Smiley

I thought the "two additional spots" are for the next week, so applications should start now... maybe I got it wrong. Smiley

The wink was for all of you who applied even though the status of this campaign is CFNP.
Usually when a campaign is open for applications its status changes.
I chose to quote you because you were the first to apply.
327  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have any financial regrets ? on: February 27, 2023, 07:23:02 PM
Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.

Don't regret it. You had no money at that time and you felt bed begging your parents for it.

I know a lot about it because my father is wealthy but he wants everyone to literally beg and thank him. He's a narcissist so one time when I wanted some money from him he asked me to ask him nicely like "my dear, most generous father, I would really appreciate if you gave me the money" and then I'd have to kiss his hand. I'm not joking here. I didn't do it and after some time he sent me the money anyway but it took like 2 years Cheesy

The only thing I regret in life is not buying more bitcoin when I had the chance.
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: February 27, 2023, 07:04:48 PM
There's never a 100% bet. If someone was trying to sell me on that I'd suspect foul play. You just cannot be that sure and there's always a chance things will go bad for you.

It doesn't matter if I had millions or had the money I have right now I'd never bet it all. I'd maybe, but MAYBE, if I really trusted that guy, bet a third of my money. If I had a million I'd bet 300 000.
If this was someone unknown to me who fixes matches or something I'd maybe bet a 100 for fun. Nothing serious.

I'd probably go to a number of bookies if I wanted to bet that much. You can bet online even after the match has started so I'd simply wire cryptocurrency there with high fee. Everything would be in place within 1 hour. I'd choose at least 2 different sites and take some cash to a local physical bookie.
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 27, 2023, 12:03:21 PM
You gave your grandfather a good advice, although I'd be careful with this because people often do dumb things and then try to blame it on someone else.

Your grandfather could soon get some profit from his investment and put all his savings into it and then if he loses something by being careless with his private keys he's going to blame you.
I would want to supervise the process and see how his security looks and how much he's investing. Don't leave him alone with this because you're the one that started the process so see it through until the end.

Think of a situation where your grandpa wants to cash out and chooses a scam exchange or sends coins to a wrong address and loses everything. He's going to blame you and crypto for being a scam.
330  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash is not trash on: February 27, 2023, 11:36:12 AM

Some people will say that Fiat is trash and they keep all their money in stable coins, the truth of this is you are doing things wrong, the stable coins in crypto space are backed by nothing, they can vanish into thin air if the government doesn't want stable coins to exists.

IMO people who choose stable coins over cash are idiots. Stable coins are issued by a company, so you're adding another layer on top of government. You're making everything more difficult for yourself and taking more risk in the process.

Cash - you depend on the government and on your own ability to keep your money safe.
Money in the bank is one layer on top of it because instead of trusting the government and yourself you also have to trust the bank.
A stable coin sis the same but even worse because you're trusting a much smaller entity than the bank to keep your money safe. If the company like Luna goes bust so does your token and you have nothing.

The best out of all of it is bitcoin because you're subtracting all those secondary layers. All that's left is your ability to keep it safe.

Quote
I believe that all stable coins are easier to trample on by the government, more than other crypto projects in this space

That's correct. It's almost impossible to stop bitcoin, but it's very easy to stop a regulated exchange or a stable coin.

332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does this help you win when you're gambling? on: February 26, 2023, 09:39:25 PM
If it was me being asked what my secret is, I would be very alarmed. It's not usual and I thought 7 out of 10 would freak out after hearing the question lol

I would believe it helps if you think about winning if you think you are going to win while playing. It's a sure thing of gaining perspective. It's like you wish to get well when you are sick. The fun is just part of it.

That's right! They were probably trying to brush him off and thus answering without really giving out any hints. In other words they were acting cool.

This "strategy" can help when you're making mistakes under pressure and often feel stressed while playing. In such case you should pick the amount of money you wouldn't feel bad losing and think of the casino like going to the movies or to a club. You pay some money like $50 for time you spend there and don't expect to come back with more money.
333  Economy / Gambling / Re: This is madness. Something super more than DeepSum on: February 26, 2023, 09:24:06 PM
well, there is a data missing. House Edge! It is considered into this equation?
Because if you made a "simple" martingale (double each time your bet) you can achieve such kind of result, but it's not working in a real life setting... a bot like this should be tested in a real dice game and then you know if it works or not...

Also simulation and real life are two different things. You don't exactly know what's behind the casino algorithm and you can't be sure that your script will produce the same results in a casino.
If someone was playing and winning big right before you and the casino script takes into account that someone broke their bank today, it's not going to allow you to do it again.

I suspect casinos special contingency plans that tend to balance things out and they won't allow multiple people to have a winning streak at the same time and you don't know who and when is achieving what results in the casino you're running your script.
334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 26, 2023, 09:05:51 PM
Congratulations, that's a crazy bet. I've done that a few times but never so many in a row. I hardly ever win 5 legs and what you've managed to achieve many people are unable to achieve in their whole gambling careers. That's life changing money we're talking about here. 400k is a nice apartment from a few hundred bucks, although the tax had to take away some of it.

After a win like yours I'd probably be hooked into sports betting for life.

I appreciate you posting the pictures, I am still a junior member and don't have enough merit to post them so thank you for that.

I took the day off work on the last match (Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills) and my friends and I watched it live. We then went to the best steakhouse in Sydney and I spent over $1500 on dinner and alcohol. I also gave them $2000 each in cash the same night so they were happy.

You're giving your friends cash gifts for going out with you? I'd be concerned if they're really my friends and not hanging around because of the money.

I greet everyone in the house please I am new here I hope I am highly welcome. I made a mistake posting something I was supposed to without putting the reference link but I think I have learnt from my mistake now and am ready to buckle up and learn from the vast knowledge about crypto that is present here in the forum.
Does it mean you had a temp ban? These things happen and it's great that you haven't been discouraged and instead came back, ready to be a better poster.

You know what you were banned for so you should know how not to do it again. It's not about the link to the article, but more about not putting the text in quotation. When don't quote it and don't include the source you're posting it as your own. If you do at least one of these things you shouldn't be in trouble, but best if you do both. It's just ethics.
336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My father thinks I'm working in a shop,he didn't know I'm bitcointalking. on: February 25, 2023, 10:06:45 PM
I told him I'm bitcointalking, and he doesn't know what I'm talking. What do yours tell you?

So you call this work? Your father thinks you're trying to earn some money and you're writing on a forum instead and getting paid a few dollars for wearing a signature?
Did I get this right?

This is not a job and it shouldn't be. This should be your way of spending free time that additionally gives you some pocket money. This will never work as a full time job and don't treat it as such. I'm really trying to warn you here.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 years ago Theymos sold 160btc at $0.003 per 1, lowest price ever recorded on: February 25, 2023, 09:24:55 PM
It's funny when many people say that if they had known about bitcoin earlier, they would have invested and kept it till now.

Yea — we all know a huge percentage of those people will immediately sell once a drop or some FUD occurs lol. Even I myself wouldn't probably be convinced about Bitcoin's future potential without all those content from the likes of Andreas Antonopoulos to convince me.

Most of us would have sold at that time when they were mining bitcoin and thought it to be worth just 0.05 USD and it went to $30, which happened pretty fast in 2011 so just over a year since Theymos sold his coins.

That's a 600x rise in price. Something that would mean 12 million USD bitcoin in a year if we took this year as base.

Imagine investing 20 000 today and seeing it worth 12 million next year. You'd be selling everything. I sure would be, so I don't blame anyone who sold at that time.
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: why Bitcoin Dumping ? on: February 25, 2023, 11:25:53 AM
It's not dump maybe we could call it market correction looking from the last ATH is still on buying position. Presently now is at +23k so I don't think we may see 17k this month again maybe from next month but which I can't say with any assurance concerning the price. It's very hard to detect what may come of next in the entire cryptocurrency market.

Calm down, bitcoin is not doing anything strange or unexpected.

A large part of every bitcoin move is stock traders rushing in by looking at the FED predictions, CPI and all other global factors. They bought some because the FED was looking to slow down their rate hikes and now Biden came  to Ukraine and promised help and Putin threatened with their continuation of nuclear tests, so the war is going to continue, nobody is looking to stop. That's bad for the markets because war means inflation. US stocks were falling for the last 2 days and bitcoin is reacting to this.

I haven't said anything wrong but if you read very carefully you would understand what I meant, just take a good look at the market today you will understand that the market is not stable in anyway, I don't expect the market to go more dipper looking from the previous ATH you will know is pretty cool time for one to venture into it. Please carefully read my comments.

What's there to look at right now? Are you saying that a move from 23 to 22 000 is something important to look at? 5% moves are nothing for bitcoin one day its 10% up another day 5% down.

You're right, there's nothing wrong with making predictions. I told you to calm down because I saw you mention 17000, which I think is such a low number that talking about it after a breakout above 20k is far fetched. When I see people who say that it can be 17000 next month I feel like they're panicking.
So you expect we could go to 17 but not lower than the established bottom of 15? IMO that's still a bearish prediction and I'm bullish.
339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 22, 2023, 07:03:41 PM
Disney boy's nickname is "The Problem Child" lol it speaks for itself as he calls out all his ancestor's spirits to put a curse on Tommy in his tweet.
But yep this is gonna be a good fight. Jake is in good shape. If he can take punches from Tommy, he can lure Tommy to engage and all Jake needs is to counter.

Tommy: Better reach, better looking, better nickname, better built, better name, much less drama and posing.

The choice is obvious if you ask me.

IMO it's Fury all the way, win by KO. Jake Paul has no incentive here. He's fighting for the show, to be popular, he wants people to talk about it. Even if he loses he's already made money on the fight from all his tweets and stuff. Fury seems to be in for a real fight as he wants to get that official rank and climb the ladder.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Make Big Money at the Casino — Without Gambling on: February 22, 2023, 05:51:04 PM
Now, in all of the Five, which of this do you think is the funniest and most interesting?

For me, I think Number 1 is  Grin that Carleo guy is such a clown  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
lets dicuss guys ..

I'm amazed at hos much luck this guy had.

He pulled out a robbery, wasn't caught, shot, recognized by anyone. They didn't have a drawing of his mug hanging at the doorway.

Then he came back, gambled there and nobody seemed to remember him

He was cashing out chips for days and still nothing, they were blind. Nobody seemed to notice that the guy wasn't buying the chips at the casino but coming with them already in his pocket.

He had a lot of fun, free meals, ladies, and it still wasn't enough, he had to keep trying his luck until it run out.

Those guys who kidnapped the girl were also really stupid. The first rule of every robbery is you stay low after.
