3222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PayPal allows users to withdraw Bitcoin to external wallets on: June 07, 2022, 03:39:44 PM
As the title says, PayPal is finally allowing their users to move their Bitcoin to their own wallets. PayPal went a long way, from getting people banned for buying Bitcoin using PayPal ( I know few people that lost their PayPal accounts due that) to now this. I am just curious how many PayPal users will actually go for that option and start taking responsibility for their own money. Somehow I doubt that number will be huge, bits its a good thing to have that option and is a step in the right direction.

Starting today, PayPal supports the native transfer of cryptocurrencies between PayPal and other wallets and exchanges," said the financial giant in a statement. The ability to conduct external transfers on PayPal's crypto platform, an image of which can be seen below, will start rolling out to users today and be available to everyone in the U.S. in the next week or two.

3223  Economy / Economics / Re: Wheat War I is going to be World War III on: June 06, 2022, 06:22:47 AM
I just don't know why he twisted it toward Africa whereas his own country has set a record high inflation rate while food prices are soaring due to decreased supply and increasing production costs.
Maybe because chances of Italy going into civil war/coup is much lower compared to African countries and its logical to assume that poorer and more unstable countries are hit harder? And no, inflation rate in Italy is not at the all time high, it was much worse in 70s. No matter how shitty situation is in Europe, its immensely worse in Africa. And no, I am not saying that we should be thankful that we are getting fucked less in this situation and be happy with it, but imho no need for this doom & gloom attitude.

It's like instead of getting off their fannies and solving the problem he is trying to say "just because Africa could be worse we should be thankful that we are being f***ed less". Cheesy
Italy and other European countries can't solve shit.

3224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Reasons I Trust Binance for my Crypto Storage on: June 05, 2022, 04:11:05 PM
I'm of the believe that anyone use these and enjoy great peace of mind keep their crypto at Binance or Coinbase. Any time I feel like the volatility is going to work against me, I quickly convert to USDT plus you have plenty to do with your assets to grow it, instead of letting it sit idle in the Cold Wallet in the name of absolute control.
Doesn't sound like a piece of mind at all to me, someone else being in control of my crypto.

The bottomline is that, your asset is just as secure at Binance as when you're handling it via cold wallet. Plus you have the added incentives of doing more with your assets to grow it.
Tell it to the people that lost bunch of money during MtGox fiasco, and many other exchanges that failed miserably. Even though it may seem like Binance is at the top since forever, they are around only for a couple of years and there were other exchanges like them that went bust so if you think that Binance/Coinbase are too big to fail, think again. Also, there is soemthing called selective scamming, you might wanna check it out.

Once shit hit the fan (and it will eventually), "your" money won't be safu.
3225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 'Luna'cy: the crash of Terra Luna on: June 05, 2022, 04:01:00 PM
I don't get why there are still people who believe in Terra, the whole project is dead with absolutely zero chances of recovery.
Because huge amount of crypto investors are nothing but a degenerate gamblers that are into all this to get rich quick and nothing else. They don't care about decentralization, being your own bank thing or whther altcoin have any utility. It's not like we didn't have bunch of examples in the past, like ETC that had several 51% attacks yet people are still somehow hodling (even mining) that. There are other well known altcoins that fail miserably like Luna did. My guess is that one of them will be ADA.

Saw recently the meme that explains this Luna 2.0 situation perfectly

3226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you care when you wear a commercial Signature? on: June 05, 2022, 06:55:02 AM
I don't have to advocate for them since their Campaign rules don't say that. The only I have to do is, Maintain the post quality and reach the minimum limit.
Who says anything about advocating for them? When I said that you are hired, I of course meant your signature space/avatar as that's the thing that you offered to them in exchange for money. I don't know about you, but for me being hired doesn't equal to someone owning me.

I must admit that I was surprised that no signature campaign that pays in Bitcoin accepts members with Member rank, because higher ranks do not necessarily mean higher quality posts. Certain Hero and Legendary member participating in some signature campaigns are far worse than some Member or even Jr.Member ranks.
One of the rare long term signature campaigns that accepted Member rank was Bustadice, I was accepted as a Member rank but one of the problem was that you were essentially stuck at your initial rank even after you ranked up, as I remember being Sr Member and still getting paid Member fee. Nevertheless, I do agree that more campaigns should lower their requirements as there are always couple of quality lower rank members around but
3227  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How anyone ever heard or used this Crypto trading site? on: June 05, 2022, 05:52:14 AM
This is 100% not a advertisement or anything like that.
We get similar attempts on the daily basis so that's why people are so suspicious about your real motive here.

Plus upon investigating, they want a deposit of 0.019 bitcoin to "confirm the authenticity of my wallet address"....
That is oldest trick in the book and  is proof enough that its a scam website and that should be avoided at all cost.

3228  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SATOSCARD aka CriptoDebit.com is a scam on: June 04, 2022, 06:39:51 AM
I'm really confused, CD is a UK based company with an e-money license.
Care to share where are they registered with "e-money license? Unless they are registered with FCA (Financial Condust Authority, where all legit UK business that offer some type of financial service are registered) but somehow I doubt that. And even if they are registered there it doesn't mean that they won't scam people. Best case scenario they are registered with Companies House but that means nothing really.

They cannot disappear and leave clients without their funds.
Of course they can. People scam other people using their own name all the time so I don't know why are you so surprised that someone like Criptodebit who provided very little info about their own business ran with people's money.

3229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you care when you wear a commercial Signature? on: June 04, 2022, 06:22:46 AM
Do you research the platform background, or do you examine its legitimacy?
So far I've been part of 4 different signature campaigns and all were going on for quite some time so honestly I didn't do in-depth check ( I did check briefly though) as if there was something seriously wrong, someone would have discovered long time ago it as this forum doesn't lack good detectives.

For example, if A new casino platform offers signature campaigns, Or an exchanger offers a signature campaign, Would you join their campaign without researching their platform?
I would definitely check brand new casino/exchange signature campaign before joining. I even busted one brand new bitcoin signatures campaign that had some fishy things going (iirc it was some wallet and they copy/pasted their whole content and concept from another project) and that was hosted by a known manager so in case of a new campaign I would recommend to do proper due diligence and not to rely on manager to do it for you.

When they accept your application, and you wear their signature, Do you feel like they hired you? If it sounds like a non-sense question, Here is why I am asking this: I noticed some 1xbit participants trying to defend their platform. Even there are no requirement on the campaign. I saw Chip-mixer participants doing discussion on Chip-mixer thread and most of them are Chip-Mixer Signature participants.
No matter how you feel, they did hire you. Then again, that doesn't mean that you have to defend them and no reputable signature campaign will ever ask that from people that they are wearing their signature. With that being said, people do tend to defend the business they are promoting (in case of a long term campaigns), but I think that has more to do with the fact that they are either using that service or it has good reputation on the forum rather than just because they are paid to wear their signature.
3230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought anything with btc? on: June 04, 2022, 06:05:38 AM
Purchased a VPN for 20$ back in 2013. It is worth now 700$
I stopped thinking like that long time ago, how much would BTC be worth now if I didn't spend it long time ago because chances are that  if you didn't buy VPN back the, you would sell your BTC year or two later, for a fraction of a current price.

This reminds me of a friend who tried to tease me year ago, asking me whether I feel stupid that $100 worth of BTC that I spent on VPN now worth like $600, not knowing that I bought that Bitcoin when price was ~1k and used to it buy VPN when it was around ~10k. So yeah, that was really stupid move from me, according to him. Cheesy

3231  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin Pizza Dan 2022 on: June 04, 2022, 05:56:43 AM

Jednostavno nemam volje ni vremena to istraživati...
3232  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: June 03, 2022, 04:18:47 PM
Evo i mjesecnog pregleda naseg lokalnog boarda, uz nikad vece zakasnjenje ali jebiga bolje ikad nego nikad. Pregled je napravljen uz pomoc @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboarda and @TryNinja Ninjastic.spacea

Lista aktivnih clanova naseg boarda tijekom Travnja 2022.

2. Trofo [33]

3233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chipotle now accepts crypto payments (only in US stores for now) on: June 02, 2022, 08:47:09 PM
We should stop dreaming for a few years of real p2p on-chain transactions between merchants and customers,
Yep, I think that we are still not there yet and I will gladly take a 2nd best thing, using 3rd party service to spend my crypto. Just 3-4 years ago that was much harder to do, unless you wanted to pay using one of those debit cards with very high fees so who knows what will happen in the next 3-4 years.

If they add some kind of promo days for it we could finally have some real usage that will drive others to copy the move.
As a matter of fact they do have promo but it's nothing special, only 10% off during promotion period.

To celebrate Chipotle’s newly launched support for digital currency payments, we’re giving everyone 10% off their next purchase at Chipotle when using any digital currency in a Flexa-enabled app

I don't see this as an issue. If online commerce platforms want to use 3rd party providers to facilitate their Bitcoin transactions, then so be it.
Me neither, but I heard so many people complaining over that, saying stuff like "why businesses don't want to accept bitcoin directly, are they stupid" while in reality they never own any business and had that kind of responsibility. Talk is cheap.
3234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Chipotle now accepts crypto payments (only in US stores for now) on: June 02, 2022, 12:48:16 PM
As the title says, one of the more popular fast food chains in the United States started accepting bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies). One may say that it's not a real deal as they will do it via 3rd party service (in this case Flexa) but its a good news nevertheless and a step in right direction. Expecting that these big chains accepts bitcoin directly is kinda naive, but the way things are developing I don't think that its out of the question in the relatively near future. After all, who would have thought 10 years ago that bitcoin would be in situation like this?

Chipotle, the popular Mexican-style fast-food restaurant chain, will now accept cryptocurrency payments through Flexa, a digital payments platform.

Flexa supports around 98 currencies, including BTC and ETH. Customers can use the app to pay for food items in any of the nearly 3000 Chipotle restaurants in the United States.

3235  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: June 02, 2022, 10:28:39 AM
How are deleted posts treated on Ninjastic?  I tough about using max(0,posts) but i wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do. Very different results were on ratings of analysing at board or sub board level.
Ninjastic counts deleted posts so you get inflated numbers and that's the main reason why I was trying to avoid it while making these overviews, but since Russian board numbers got consistently screwed due high amount of deleted/moved old posts I started using that instead of merit dashboard. Unfortunately there's no perfect solution for this, and majority of local boards don't have a lot of spam anyway so in the end numbers are not that much inflated.
3236  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: June 02, 2022, 10:15:06 AM
I find it quite interesting, even if the results are skewed by some heavy post deletion in Russian and Chinese sections.
Yep, interesting chart. Maybe issue with Chinese and Russian board post deletion could be sorted by using data for those two boards from ninjastic space?

I've been slacking for nearly two months now since I last updated the Nigeria local board weekly activities. I shifted it from a weekly to a monthly report, but I'm still falling behind. When I get some free time this week, I'll try to update it from where I left off.
Tbh, weekly overview was an overkill so good decision to do it on a monthly basis instead. Since you are failing that as well maybe you should think about doing it on a bi-monthly basis.

I believe our outside forum groups significantly slow down our activities, particularly for me. But I'm glad that, despite the ups and downs, so many members are still committed to our thread and activities.
It sucks when real life obligations get in a way of our forum activity. Cheesy I always had an issue with finding the balance when it comes to forums as for me was either I'll spend few hours every day, or I won't show up for a couple of days at all. Lately its been the latter for me.

3237  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: June 01, 2022, 06:30:38 PM
I have already written about how Russia is in a much better position because it was preparing for war and sanctions even before it started tearing Ukraine apart by attacking Crimea and supporting uprisings in Ukrainian regions along its western borders. It's like playing poker games where you know all the cards of your opponents and you can only lose money if you're a complete fool.
I don't think that Russia is in much better position, it's just that their government doesn't really care how an average Russian citizen lives so maybe they are in better position as they don't have to worry about public opinion.

Even if sanctions work, no government in Russia, if we look through history, cared too much for the common man and he has always been a collateral victim for some major goals. In other words, Russia has enough cannon fodder to be able to fight for a very long time, whether 50 000 or 500 000 Russian soldiers die for Moscow doesn't matter anyway - most of the soldiers are from poor and rural parts of Russia anyway.
Sanctions won't work due simple reason that Putin doesn't give a fuck about his own people, and it's not like they can overthrown him on elections like in the west so in the end it's just a waste of time(and money). After all, we saw how sanctions worked in North Korea, Cuba etc. And it's not like Russians don't have a history of dictators making their life miserable so for them that's business as usual.
3238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies and eagerness lack of patience on: June 01, 2022, 04:04:59 PM
Leaving this case aside, I'm seriously getting bored with all these topics about motivation and advice, when I enter some section it feels like I'm in some sort of center for groups therapy, this cheesy text that simply looks so damn fake, these advice everyone is giving about patience about self-fulfillment knowing nobody, not even the ones who write them are eager to follow.
Ditto. It's like someone is forced to join this forum and be active here or like its some sort of a job and you need encouragement. Its just a forum, where people come to ask questions or talk with like minded people. But since this is the only forum I know of where you can actually make decent amount of money it evolved into this ridiculous thing that you can't find anywhere else.

Seriously, if you go to any other forum and open a topic like this you would get seriously ridiculed while here you often get merit. Not in this case, but if OP was more eloquent I have no doubts that he would scoop at least a few and as long these type of topics get merited, people will keep creating them.
3239  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: June 01, 2022, 03:50:32 PM
My idea is to assess the level of activity in the local boards.

So, the first idea to determine how lively the “local boards ecosystem is”, would be to calculate the ratio between the number of posts in the local boards, as a whole, to the number of posts in the forum.

The second indicator would be the same ratio, but considering merits. So it would be merits in all the local boards over the merits across the whole forum.

Hope this clarifies.
Ah, now I get it. Not a bad idea (and something I would like to see too) but goal of this topic is to compare local boards and not to compare how they perform against the forum in general. As I said before, I wanted to to keep this overview brief and its already kinda too big so I am not so inclined to add even more charts. But I will definitely think about it and maybe include it in one of the future overviews.

I think he is finally back today, there is still hope for us  Cheesy
Yeah I saw, our local forum is not the same without him being all over the place.
3240  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: June 01, 2022, 07:32:00 AM
I think it would be a nice addition to the thread a graph summarising the posts in a single month gathered by the local boards as opposed to the general board.
The same graph was done for posts.
What do you think? I tried to gather similar graphs to help draw, but I miserably failed on finding how to export the data.
So two simple graph lines:
  • local post/forum posts
  • local merits/forum merits
I read it like 10 times and honestly I do not understand what kind of chart you have in mind. To compare total amount of posts in local boards vs general board as a whole or local boards vs all other boards? Or something completely different?
