3301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit fork and the bitcoin price on: June 11, 2017, 08:33:25 AM
With segwit activation on august 1st, I think a split is almost certainly going to happen.
what SegWit activation on August 1st?! there is only BIP 148 UASF currently on that date which won't activate SegWit unless it gets enough support and we don't know if it gains enough of it or not right now.
also you don't know what you are talking about when you say "split is certain" as i said we don't know anything right now.

Quote
I remember the first time I heard about a possible hard fork a few years ago, it freaked me out and I dumped all my coins.
i'm sorry to be forward but you did a dumb move because so far there has never been enough possibility for a risky hard fork which was worth dumping coins for!
next time do some proper research before panic selling.

Quote
I imagine there are a lot of people who have recently invested who are now at the same level of education I was at back then and they will be dumping out their coins.
what you imagine is wrong because price has been rising so far! and it is staying above $2800 with a pretty solid buy support.

Quote
So the price will probably drop quite a lot over the next 8 weeks, but the question is when and how much?
no the question is why you are assuming bitcoin price will drop and think you are correct specially after claiming yourself that you made a big mistake before about another hard fork which never happened!

Quote
I'm deciding between holding my coins, or selling them now and waiting for the dump then buying back even more.
if you think there is a dump then why even ask us? sell and buy back in the dip.
if it really dropped you make a good profit and if it didn't you will lose a lot of money like the last time you panic sold.
3302  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What kind of worst decisions do you take when trading? on: June 11, 2017, 06:39:49 AM
the worst decision that anyone can make when trading is to follow what others do.
and it gets worse when you are trading altcoins and have not that much experience in trading. and i see this every day when newbies come in and want to try trading and since they don't know what to do, they just follow others. find twitter posts, telegram groups, pump groups, etc and fall for their scam and waste their money because none of what any of them tells them is useful.
3303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [LTC] Litecoin Speculation on: June 11, 2017, 06:31:19 AM
Before you load up on Litecoin take a look at the monthly chart over a few years:

[i m g]https://bitcoinnewsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ltcbtcmonthly.png[/img]

Litecoin is known for yearly pump and dumps, and this year's PnD was classic buy the rumour sell the news on SegWit. It is more likely you will see a lower LTC/BTC price before next year's pump. I think the only way this cycle could be broken is if there was real adoption of Litecoin for merchant payments due to lower fees. That would take someone like BitPay to start accepting Litecoin along with Bitcoin, but BitPay has already said they have no plans to accept Litecoin.

this is true and it is best if investment at this point is made with extra caution.
but also don't forget that altcoin prices have always been moving based on news because they don't have anything else going on for them to move.
and as far as LTC goes there has always been something to pump it. for example the previous one was because of the LTC halving that led to a big pump.

and the current one is because of SegWit. i say it has more potential for rise because the news is not over yet and it is growing.

i would have expected this from the likes of kwukduck and the rest of the trolls but to sink down to this level to spread FUD on his twitter account is just too cheap.

is he really that desperate to bash bitcoin and pump his project and make more money that he will sink this low? i can just say WOW.

3305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More good news for litecoin on: June 10, 2017, 08:28:55 AM
Bitcoin transactions take time but so many people looking at Bitcoin only.after that ETH

yeah they look at ethereum as a short term investment because it gets pumped easily by their team and the pumps are always strong which makes investment in it so much better than investing in small time altcoin pumps.
but it has nothing to do with transaction times (fees). and besides ETH is not even a currency!

i think ethereum is a long term investment and we can save it into our wallet. ethereum transaction is not to slow depend on bitcoin transaction although many people still looking at bitcoin only like Enrique Malchow said and its because bitcoin price is get the number one position and its should be.

i wouldn't call it a "long" term investment but as i said for the reason above it is a profitable investment.
and it is not just about faster transaction, that comes from the fact that it has faster block generation (it is about 15 seconds). it is about scaling issue. and the fact that transaction fees are currently getting closer to $1 and it doesn't even have remotely as many transactions as bitcoin has!

they keep saying some features will be added to fix it and another hard fork is on the way. but it remains to be seen if it is even effective.
3306  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: On Exchange's trade list, how is decided whether a trade is a "sell" or a "buy"? on: June 10, 2017, 07:48:29 AM
good question!
i just checked some orders that i had on a small exchange and based on the history i have to say the "market history" section lists the type of trades that happened not the type of order that was open.
if means if you go and buy something from the orderbook it will be listed as a buy in the history although you filled an already open (sell) ask order.
and if you sell something to an open buy (bid) order then it will be listed as a sell in history.
3307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Mining Profits to dry up in Dec. on: June 10, 2017, 07:26:42 AM
both these chains will have the same problem because this thing called the ethereum difficulty bomb was inserted in the code in early stages to plan for times like this. it is there to increase the difficuly slower at first but a lot as time goes by and bigger when casper was released (the switch to POS) and death of mining practically.

there is a valid concern among miners specially at this time that we are seeing the difficulty rise. so if you already have miners then enjoy the profit but i don't think investing in new ones to mine ethereum is such a good plan.

good news is that change is a hard fork and may cause another split like before and you can end up with two sets of coin, even if the other chain lasts for a short time you may be able to dump it for additional profit.

3309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: WALLET.DAT or SEEDS - What is the safest on: June 10, 2017, 07:08:51 AM
both at the same time!
if you have a couple of backups then it is best (not too many that you lose track of and risk losing it to someone robbing you though).
you can write down the seed on a piece of paper and store the paper somewhere safe, possibly even laminate it. or you can even etch it on a piece of metal!
you can encrypt it with a strong password then paste the base64 string in a .txt file and store it on the cloud (good as long password is strong).

also you can store the wallet file, on a USB, DVD, on the cloud. again a strong encryption is suggested.

also remember being safe doesn't mean which one you chose, it means how you store them.
3310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC and LTC is most funniest chinese scam coin ever! on: June 09, 2017, 06:40:01 AM
the funniest part about this topic is that OP is too dumb to know that ETC is the original chain and ETH forked away from it. so with his logic ETH is the equivalent of NOKLA,... Grin
3311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Invest Into DOGE? on: June 09, 2017, 06:12:27 AM
Why do people invest into dogecoin?
because this coin started as a joke, then people liked the joke and stuck around and saw it can be mined and the reward was good. then the community grew and it started attracting a lot of attention and fun memes so more people came.

also it is fast and easy to use and super cheap (fees are 1 Doge!).
there aren't much to it that this, and the huge supply of multi billion is a big downside!

Quote
First, it is ranked in the top 15 cryptocurrency.
meaningless when the coin has 100 billion coins around!

Quote
Secondly, it is so cheap that if it has a slight growth, you will make A LOT.
correct about it being cheap, specially if you are talking about transaction cost
but wrong about growth. the rise is happening all over altcoin market and it is not specific to Doge or any other altcoin, they are ALL getting pumped. and they will ALL get dumped eventually.

Quote
Basically, right now it is not even worth $0.01. The potential in this coin is so huge.
not it doesn't have.

Quote
Dogecoin has various use, but I wont list it.
you won't list it because there aren't really that much. there are a couple of merchants who were Doge Meme Fans who added doge and a couple of game selling websites which did that but most of them went out of business because of lack of interest.
3312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the safest wallet to use for long term offline storage? on: June 09, 2017, 06:03:21 AM
any bitcoin wallet can be the safest as long as:
* it is a legit wallet which has been around and has been tested for many years.
* you download it from the real source, meaning official website or compile it directly from its source code on GitHub.
* you check and verify the signature of the downloaded file
* you install and keep the installed wallet on an airtight offline computer which has always been clean and is only used for purpose of storing your wallet and nothing else.
* or use the wallet/code to generate a paper wallet (printing the private keys on paper)

you can use bitcoin core, Armory, Electrum, Multibit, bitaddress...

I really do not know what's good about burst besides the fact that it is easy to mine.

Anyways, Baryom may be taking some time in adding Burst and some other features that will improve player experience.
That man never ran out of idea.

i am not familiar with this coin but if it is in fact easy to mine then there is your answer! it is not a small thing to be able to mine an altcoin and get the rewards for finding a block easily. and when you can gain a large number of coins, then many will prefer playing with those coins instead of their bitcoin and try to make an additional profit on what they have mined.
It is not about how easy it is to mine but the fact that Bitsler will soon accept it will make both old and new members have another option aside from what we have now. Meaning it will not only attract new players but it will also give old members new ways on how to use other cryptocurrency aside from their Bitcoin. This shows how Bitsler can adapt and improve at the same time for the community.

why not Cheesy
the altcoin needs to have a big community and lots of users before you decide spending your precious server resources on it. and being easily obtainable through mining, which i believe it is easy to solo mine this coin, makes it just that.
all the things you said seem to be related to after adding not before and when you want to decide which coin to add.
3314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I asking too much? on: June 08, 2017, 06:30:52 AM
well with fiat, gold and all the rest of the regulated stuff, there will always be some level of centralization and regulation that you need to follow. so i think yeah you are asking a bit much Smiley

unless you move to physical and face to face exchange of BTC to Physical Gold, Hard Cash, ... i don't see any other way.
3315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really have enough 'cryptocurrencies'? on: June 08, 2017, 06:15:20 AM
One thing I've read more than once is the sentiment that there's not enough bitcoins to go round. Whether bitcoin is divisible to 8 places is kind of irrelevant. The divisible nature of bitcoin is already known. It's something else.
yes it is something else, it is people not understanding how big that number is.
there are 2,100,000,000,000,000 units available and usable. and if anything happened and we needed more, for example because of an extremely large adoption, or a very large amount of coins lost or something like that we can still fork to a new chain which 0.1 satoshi becomes valid.

Quote
So, do we really have enough pure cryptocurrencies to satisfy this entire planet's thirst for a new economy?

Or do we actually need more?
as far as your first statement about bitcoin goes, as i explained we do have enough.

but as for your secondary kind of question, the cryptocurrency technology that bitcoin introduces is such a huge field to explore and innovate so we will never have enough. there will always going to be new cryptocurrencies being created and try new aspects and new ideas in this field.
- so many will fail
- so many will be copycats
- so many will not even be cryptocurrency, they will be pump and dumps

we may not see it happen today or for years in the future, but it is happening. there have been a lot of good improvements, the fact that they turned into ashes because of pump and dumps doesn't change the future.

3317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will the markets see red at all in 2017? on: June 07, 2017, 07:09:15 AM
Doesn't look like it - this keeps going up and up. I don't think we'll see a correction/crash for the rest of this year. To be honest, I'd like one in order to buy at something other than a premium

Any thoughts? All green 2017?

what the hell are you talking about Grin
there are a lot of "REDS" in the market. what do you think happens to the altcoins that get pumped after a couple of days? they get dumped! so if you really start looking then you will see all these crashes and dumps and reds all over the charts!

and besides if a crash doesn't happen then it means it is a bubble and it actually is a worse thing. when market crashes after a pump it shows some healthy and logical movement. but if it only goes up that means a big bubble is forming and a catastrophe is waiting to happen. and that won't be a simple dump, that would be the death of that altcoin.
3318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Calling It A Bubble. on: June 07, 2017, 06:49:48 AM
A bubble is when everyone is talking about cryptos, e.g. your taxi driver, the bellboy, etc. Outside of my close circle of tech colleagues zero people are talking about Bitcoin.

that is a wrong definition of a bubble. it has nothing to do with who and how many are talking about it.
the correct definition is this:
"A bubble is an economic cycle characterized by rapid escalation of asset prices followed by a contraction. It is created by a surge in asset prices unwarranted by the fundamentals of the asset and driven by exuberant market behavior."

there is no easy way to say what price is the intrinsic values are so it is hard to say for sure that if it is a bubble or not.

is bitcoin in a bubble? maybe, but if it is, that bubble is not that big because we have already seen a lot of price drops (correction, contraction, crash, dump or whatever you want to call it) some of which have been big and they corrected the price and after that price is still rising.

are altcoins in a bubble? i say yes. there is no reason for most of them to rise and it is purely "exuberant market behavior" leading to a fake price.
3319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wise to buy altcoins with my bitcoins?? on: June 07, 2017, 06:31:04 AM
Dear Members,
... Is it wise to invest all my bitcoins in ...

probably not.

if you have a very small amount like anything less than 0.1BTC and that is not all the money you own in the whole world  then yeah go for it, you are not risking a large amount of money and you may make more of it.

but if you have a bigger amount then it is not such a good idea to go all in altcoin specially if you are new to the scene. you first need to learn more about trading and get more familiar with altcoins and how their price are moving then think about investing a large amount in it. because this market is pretty high risk with all the pump and dumps.
3320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying other crypto's on: June 07, 2017, 06:13:58 AM
So with a ton of crypto options on the market what site is the easiest for purchasing crypto's other then Bitcoin, Ether, etc.. I'd like to look at buying others such as Bytecoin or GNO for example. What sites do you have experience with and what was your experience like using them?

usually the top altcoin exchanges have all the coins that you want. visit poloniex and bittrex.
there is also smaller exchanges such as c-cex and cryptopia which you can try.
you can also visit coinmarketcap.com to see the list of all the altcoins and find out each of their markets.

is there a thread here somewhere that talks about buy-sell in between forum users directly, without any exchanges?
Tried PM'ing few highly rated members but noone has replied in while...

you mean something like currency exchange board?!
