341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a currency ? on: October 15, 2018, 03:09:46 PM
The definition of currency varies from country to country, and also on the era (the definition of currency in 1920 is different to what it is now). And, if you look at a 'traditional' definition of currency, bitcoin and altcoins do not satisfy all requirements

what are some examples of other currencies from other countries you mean, that doesn't fit what's in the op?
342  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it safe enough to buy bitcoins online ? on: October 15, 2018, 03:03:30 PM
what site was it you used? it'd be good to know both as a possible warning and if it's actually a legitimate site, they'll surely help you solve it if you contact them.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm afraid of losing money on: October 15, 2018, 03:01:56 PM
don't invest more than you are willing to lose! you should be aware of the possibility that you lose everything you've invested, nothing is guaranteed.
look at all the people falling for various investment scams, they're always sure they found the best thing!
so, it's good that you are worried but at the same time, it also might be a sign you've invested more than you should  Roll Eyes
344  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Solution to scam projects and ICOs on: October 15, 2018, 02:27:49 PM
the government is getting involved more and more, but ultimately the point of crypto is that noone is really in control. if someone was, it wouldn't be crypto!
but there are more and more government involvement in the ICO process, any legitimate ICO project nowadays demands KYC.
either way, an idiot and his money are soon   parted(?)
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is a poor form of money for terrorists. on: October 15, 2018, 04:12:17 AM
monero for example is used a lot in illegal transactions, but the entire criminality business in the world is still of course ran by fiat money. crypto leaves people in control of their own money, as should be..
346  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sort posts by merit spent on: October 15, 2018, 01:41:11 AM
There are 3rd party sites that you can use to read this board, but I'm not sure if any allows such sorting.

Cool thing would be a list of most merited post in las 24h/ week/ month so you wouldn't miss nothing important, I think this would be a lot easier to implement than sorting by merit.

what is the gain of using a 3rd party site to read here?  Shocked
347  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading with caution on: October 15, 2018, 01:38:56 AM
if any project is focusing on the valuation of their token rather than improving and building a long term working project, it's a warning sign. if someone is looking for more stuff to consider before investing in icos i wrote some here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3760625
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Without ETF , can expect a huge bull run on: October 14, 2018, 10:29:32 AM
look at this one:
https://www.turtlebc.com/tools/buy_percentage?period=3years

it's interesting to see how bitcoin is struggling for this whole year, would any type of news really be enough to go up a level (and establish a higher low)?
maybe it's okay and even good if we don't get a new bullrun and simply let it grow naturally for once.
349  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Walkthrough Suggestions: Easiest Way To Buy Ethereum on: October 13, 2018, 12:56:49 AM
Any legitimate site like Coinbase will demand ID verification, personally I think Coinbase is really good because the automatic verification + buying with a card.
so one could get their hands on crypto safely in 10 minutes time!

it's probably best to suggest that for begniners, it's safe and easy compared with p2p which surely can be safe and easy but also more confusing with not keeping it in their wallet etc
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: top 5 altcoins to consider on: October 13, 2018, 12:54:00 AM
For new coins, maybe privcy as I see a future there, and the new entrants into the top 100 on cmc. They must be doing something right to have gotten to where they are so odds are they'd keep doing them right. For older ones, eth as always, cardano, neo and dash for me.

I think privacy is also a very good thing to invest in for the future, isn't something said that in reality, it's the only thing that will always be used in a sense(untraceable "black market" stuff)?  Cheesy
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't wait big investor, We are investor on: October 11, 2018, 06:51:41 AM
i don't think it's the correct way to phrase it saying "investor" + "using bitcoin as a currency".
regular people doesn't invest in regular currencies, and if we hope that bitcoin replaces regular currencies at some point, then why should we see it as investments?
surely many people do and not much can be done about that (and nothing wrong with it I guess)!
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs dying off? on: October 10, 2018, 04:03:01 AM
surely it's been dying out steadily all year since the dump, and now with ETH vs EOS and ETH also appearing as an unsteady choice, many ICOs probably are a bit scared to even take funding currently (supposedly to be legally doing it properly they have to hold the eth?)
353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will putting regulations to some aspect of cryptocurrency make it centralized on: October 10, 2018, 01:26:54 AM
only because there's certain laws and regulations around crypto doesn't make it centralized, but instead companies doing shady things can be stopped.
in no way could that make it centralized even if it was wanted to!
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The market began to show a change from the red zone to the green zone. on: October 10, 2018, 12:41:59 AM
if the market will recover? ask yourself why you even invested into crypto in the first place, is it useless or not?
if it's useless = why did you invest?
if it's not = why wouldn't it go up?

it's better that the price is floating around a stable point rather than like how the past months we've had barts, or well, december where it was reverse barts  Roll Eyes
355  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY FOR DUMMIES on: October 09, 2018, 05:41:04 PM
I think you are missing something crucial which is How it's secure. you're only saying everyone keeps a copy.
this explains the absolute basics but for someone who would wonder about what makes it safe it doesn't infuse trust!  Grin
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buterin is preparing to leave Ethereum. on: October 09, 2018, 04:54:17 AM
what is his reasoning for this? he seems to have a generally negative view of his own project for some reason, saying it's not worth more than $10, now leaving it saying it won't survive?
it doesn't make sense.
357  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Market Buy Limit API URL Link Question (Where api key goes) on: October 09, 2018, 12:33:39 AM
?apikey=key_here
that's definitely the place to put it, if it's not working it's not wrong with the url atleast  Embarrassed
358  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do violent video game affects someone behaviour? on: October 08, 2018, 04:12:42 PM
this topic has been discussed for such a long time now in society!
haven't everyone played games and know people who play games and everyone's perfectly normal?
It's probably an underlying mental disease that leads to this, and the loss in this case was just the trigger, otherwise something else would have triggered it.

"Minecraft involves killing" = it's literally square shaped figures. and this is a minimal part of the game!
think about all the creativity for children playing minecraft who can build their own world any way they like..
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tron (TRX) Jumps 12% as Founder Justin Sun Announces Virtual Machine Launch on: October 08, 2018, 04:08:59 PM
Quote
TVM, according to Sun, will make the Tron blockchain 200 times faster than Ethereum, and 100 times cheaper than EOS.

anyone can say whether this is true or not?
according to Sun doesn't mean much anymore, is there anyone who tested it/knows more about it?  Roll Eyes
considering how many times he's made "huge announcements" which leads to absolutely nothing, I'm interested to see if this is something real for once.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BNB (Binance) token! on: October 08, 2018, 03:27:08 PM
What comparisons can be made, if BNB is the top exchange token, how can one know if it's overvalued or not?
I don't see how some can claim that it's undervalued, if there's nothing to compare with?
