341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest 1k in altcoins on: April 05, 2024, 06:44:13 AM
If you're asking us how to invest your money (and in altcoins lol), maybe you shouldn't do "investing". Do the work and decision-making yourself, or don't "invest" at all. Imagine trusting the investing knowledge of random online people online man, make it make sense.
342  Other / Meta / Re: Can Grin become a payment method again? on: April 05, 2024, 04:35:29 AM
Most people are more interested in a quick hype, than anything with good tech. Proof of this statement: look at most altcoins, ICOs, DeFi, NFT and Ordinals. The large majority of it is BS, but because of the hype some people earn a lot of money (and many people no doubt lose money). Add the fact that many "users" don't even want to install their own wallet, and it becomes very difficult to get real users for something that could be good.

I'd even argue that even without all these things you've mentioned, the likes of Grin/XMR would still heavily struggle to gain adoption outside of DN markets. Bitcoin has struggled for so long(and is still quite struggling now) to gain adoption with all its evangelists, whereas these alternatives obviously don't have as many die-hard fans as bitcoin. They mostly just have libertarians/devs who think the tech is cool but without the same high-conviction buyers as bitcoin.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most unique coin. on: April 04, 2024, 04:49:00 PM
But other coins can have unique qualities that Bitcoin can never adopt.

One such quality is simplicity. Although Bitcoin may be far less complex than some other chain like Ethereum, it still contains a nontrivial amount of complexity in itself, as witnessed by
Is there even a cryptocurrency outside of stablecoins(some even debate that it's not a "cryptocurrency") that is simpler than Bitcoin? I don't think it gets any simpler than this.

Another such quality is fair distribution. While Bitcoin had a relatively fair one, with no premine, it still did not decentralize wealth as much as one might like. Or rather, as future generations might like, since each successive generation only gets to mine 1/32 time as much as the previous one.
I don't think decentralizing wealth was the plan nor is possible in the first place. The most we can have is equal opportunity; fair distribution of wealth is a pipe dream.
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Article from Coindesk. Are Bitcoin Developers Losing Faith in Lightning? on: April 04, 2024, 04:21:50 PM
Not just one company.  There are a few different competing implementations.  Coindesk are just less likely to promote the others based on where their bread is buttered.  It's unfortunate that money does have that kind of influence, but that's life, I guess.

Yea I'd figure that are multiple implementations, but knowing that I've never heard of the other implementations as a person that's pretty active in the bitcoin/crypto world(non dev though), is proof that it's probably not being widely tested by non-devs compared to the main lightning implementation.
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana Memecoin Mania: Could This Be the Next BONK? on: April 04, 2024, 03:49:40 PM
They burned the liquidity, yada yada..

You referring to Slerf? I hold a very small bag and I'm actually surprised how it's performing so bad after all that hilarious (regardless if it's legitimate or an act) fiasco with the "accidental" burn of funds. I've only rarely audibly laughed at memecoins, but this is one of those times.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Anyone here saw the Coingecko Narrative Tweet for Q1 of 2024? on: April 04, 2024, 01:44:04 PM
Don't stress yourself, it's just data about price performance. Not everything needs to be explained in-depth; and to add to it — it's Twitter, where most posts are shortform. Bitcoin is just an asset(albeit a great one); bitcoin is not some child that needs public defending all the time to perform well.
347  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 03, 2024, 08:54:56 AM
You can etch or stamp your backups on a steel sheet. The materials needed should be fairly accessible in local hardware stores.

Alternatively, Ledger has this capsule thing that you can easily hide wherever, but of course buying the materials individually yourself is cheaper by a wide margin: https://shop.ledger.com/products/cryptosteel-capsule-solo
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Article from Coindesk. Are Bitcoin Developers Losing Faith in Lightning? on: April 03, 2024, 08:26:00 AM
Don't get me wrong — I hope Lightning does succeed, but if Lightning amounts to nothing in the end, do we actually have an alternative solution for scalability? It seems that Bitcoiners are betting all their cards on Lightning. Not a fan of halving the future of bitcoin payments in one company.
349  Other / Meta / Re: Can Grin become a payment method again? on: April 03, 2024, 03:31:45 AM
I think that the problem is that Grin had bad marketing / business development. Many people never really warmed up to Grin.

Truth be told, it's going to be VERY DIFFICULT to create an alternative SoV/payments cryptocurrency (besides stablecoins) that could rival bitcoin, even with a project with good marketing/bizdev. Even those with good technical fundamentals like Monero/Grin will simply just slowly but surely die in terms of attention.
350  Other / Meta / Re: Can Grin become a payment method again? on: April 02, 2024, 04:31:30 PM
Grin's market cap is only at $9.8 million today and there's barely any trading volume and liquidity on centralized exchanges. Safe to assume that it has little to no attention now and that it's pretty much a 'dead' project now, unfortunately. If it had little to no usage back then, then pretty much almost no one would be using it today.
351  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC to Tether for percentage gain on: April 02, 2024, 04:22:26 PM
You're free to do so if you want to. It's just that people underestimate how hard it is to pull it off, as most people who attempt to do such a 'strategy' just end up having less bitcoin than they should have.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun and it gives me a huge adrenaline boost when doing so. I just make sure I only trade with a very small percentage of my total portfolio.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I make a crypto coin? Icreated a Virtual Reality Survival Horror game on: April 02, 2024, 04:00:02 PM
not a meme coin, its a coin to run dedicated servers.

for example, the cost of running a dedicated server is expensive, But these days people have fiber optics with 300 up and 300 down and can go higher, the coin will be backed by the actual virtual reality multiplayer game, so its backed by an actual product you can play and has replay value

its also a PC game , and a mobile game, so everyone can play together its not just a virtual reality game, its cross platform

How can a pc/mobile game be "backed" by a cryptocurrency? Games that integrate crypto have tokens that have value because these games have economies and are multiplayer. A VR survival horror game, on the other hand, I don't know how a token would be useful in this case.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I make a crypto coin? Icreated a Virtual Reality Survival Horror game on: March 30, 2024, 02:36:31 PM
Not sure why you'd want a cryptocurrency with no other use at all(unless you're creating some sort of memecoin here), but you're going to want to create a token, not a coin. It'll be totally up to you, but you're better off going with the SPL or BEP20 standard; definitely not ERC20.
354  Other / Off-topic / Re: Arent men in general more likely to take risks compared to women? on: March 30, 2024, 07:59:59 AM
Although i don't entirely accept the fact, because i have seen potential investors, whales in the crypto space that are women while some choose to lie low but they have enough investment.

As far as I know, data says that men are more likely to take risks compared to women, not that women don't take any risks at all. Huge difference between the two — so obviously there will still always be women who are into crypto or investing in general who are susceptible to risk.
355  Local / Pilipinas / Re: TUTORIAL PARA MAACCESS PARIN SI BINANCE KAHIT WALANG VPN NA GINAGAMIT on: March 29, 2024, 05:32:12 AM
Itong ginawa ba nating tutorial na ito ay hindi naman labag sa rules ng Binance gaya ng pag gamit ng VPN?

Ung DNS change walang kaso un kasi ginagamit mo parin ung IP address mo. Ung VPN on the other hand, maaari kang magkaproblema sa Binance kasi pwedeng iflag ng sistema nila na baka hacker ung nag login sa account mo. Kaya hindi talaga recommended na gumamit ng VPN.
356  Local / Pilipinas / Re: TUTORIAL PARA MAACCESS PARIN SI BINANCE KAHIT WALANG VPN NA GINAGAMIT on: March 29, 2024, 03:57:26 AM

357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Meme" coins are ruining everything on: March 28, 2024, 06:28:17 PM
Some memecoins will stay simply because of internet culture, most will crash and burn.

Personally, I don't find them useless and I don't see them "ruining everything". How are we going to expect the masses to be able to use these networks if memecoins are causing them to become unusable? Memecoins are the perfect stress test for these blockchains so everyone can improve the current networks we have.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whatever happened to decentralized marketplaces? on: March 28, 2024, 06:18:33 PM
Are tightening regulations one of the reasons why decentralized marketplaces aren't taking off?

It's definitely a factor, but not really. It's simply the fact that usage has always been really small, and people are simply just using the likes of eBay instead. Truth be told, bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are mostly held as investments today, rather than for payments.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins or Fiat? on: March 28, 2024, 06:08:00 PM
I personally use stablecoins it's simply easier to get back into buying crypto when you're holding a stablecoin, vs holding fiat. I don't like staying unexposed to bitcoin/crypto for long periods of time lol but of course I still have money in "true" fiat in my bank account for my personal spending.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethena Airdrop on: March 28, 2024, 05:36:06 PM
Yeah it kinda looks like them but I like the explanation the team does. Not really good on financial aspect especially rates and open interest, but this has been discuss on our group as one of the alpha so its a big one. Nice good to know Im not the only one, I did inject fund during the 2nd day of farming of Id bag some pretty nice rewards.

Only one thing you need to take note in this case is that their backers are actually reputable and heavily knowledgeable when it comes to market sustainability in general — Coinbase Ventures, DragonFly, Arthur Hayes from BitMEX, etc. Safe to say this has far better staying power than Terra/Luna had because this can't really implode unless multiple exchanges blow up.
