3401  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bank tranfers instead of credit cards on: January 14, 2018, 10:06:19 PM
I've been doing all of my BTC transcations with bank transfers and wire transfers, it's the only way to go if you want to avoid a good chunk of fees and get the coins in an ALRIGHT amount of time. You're not going to get them instantly like you'd be getting it with a credit card, but that's the price you pay when you want to get convenience.

I would say bitcoin transfers instead of credit cards. The problems you are describing are true, but they can be solved using bitcoin. I understand that the fees are high right now, but if you compare bitcoin transfers to international transfer, bitcoin is still faster and cheaper. It can't be used for payments right now, at least not small ones, but it will be in the future. I have nothing against bank transfers, and I use them often and I do prefer them to credit cards, the problem is that you can't always use them for payments, although in some websites you can. I don't even own a credit card because I don't trust them, so on worst case scenario I'm willing to use paypal.
God do you even read threads before you post? People are talking about BUYING BITCOIN. You can't buy BTC with BTC....

Couldn't the same ends be achieved with several independent local markets and a global market where volumes are high enough that the fees don't matter much? That way avoiding a monolithic and bureaucratic organization.

Well yes, but we don't have this yet. Plus fees in local market are usually pretty high.
3402  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dealing with dishonest bitcoiners on: January 14, 2018, 09:58:50 PM
The only way to prevent is to use a middleman, Bitcoin isn't a type of currency that you can get back in some way. You really can only hope that a person's reputation is worth more to them then whatever your buying from them, if you think it's worthless then just use a trusted escrow who's independent and hope that they don't just run away with both sides stuff.

It's a tough world here, I hope we have some sort of centralized services to ensure that people aren't scammed to hell on crypto.
3403  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What wrong on exchanger HITBTC ? on: January 14, 2018, 09:40:45 PM
Been hearing a good amount of problems of support, coins being stolen, and a weird PO box registered in Colorado being their only point of contact for people peering into the site. I mean, a lot of the support things are thingds that we see on ALL exchanges -- as no one is able to handle the massive amount of demand that is present right now, and coins being 'stolen' could just be missing due to an error that must be rectified by support.

I've personally used it and haven't had an issue, but who knows with all of these random exchanges. Binance is what I like and Imma stick with it.
3404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Explain Bitcoin to Businessmen with no idea of internet on: January 14, 2018, 05:28:16 PM
Getting bitcoin into the hands and into the minds of businessmen and women is something that we all have to do,these are the people that can change the game as they'd be accepting bitcoin and turning into more of a currency than a traded coin with a MASSIVE amount of volatility. So if you wanted to try to get these businesspeople on board the big problem right now with them is fees, they're not going to want to get into bitcoin if they're going to lose money/ not make as much or more then using credit card.

They must use a service like bitpay, so they sell instantly and get their profits in USD --only way for a business to use bitcoin without an issue. I doubt these people care about the tech, they care about the bottom line.
3405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Against the high competition of blockchain. What will Bitcoin do to compete? on: January 14, 2018, 05:13:10 PM
I fail to understand how blockchains and Bitcoins are going to be competing, as Bitcoin USES the blockchain to be able to have their public ledger and to be the currency which they are today. These two things aren't competing, as one is a technology (the blockchain) and another is a currency that uses this technology, Bitcoin.

You may want to reword your question to fix this.
3406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should make it easy for people to use now! on: January 14, 2018, 05:08:10 PM
The guy in this fails to understand that if you're buying from an ATM you're spending a shit ton of money for the convenience. So saying that the fees are high are normal, that's like going to an ATM that's not owned by your bank and COMPLAINING that you're paying too much money for it. If you don't want convenience, then just go ahead and buy from Coinbase, Paxful, ETC.

Network congestion is temporary, it will all clear over with more innovation occurring throughout time. But yes, I do think people should be able to easier use BTC and get acquainted to it -- but that does come with time.

3407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin visa not working, Please give some alternatives on: January 14, 2018, 01:16:56 PM
I never got around in trying this, but there are many sites you can buy gift cards with bitcoin.
Paxful was one of them that popped up on google.

I would advise against using paxful if you just want to simply buy some giftcards, kinda overkill and you open up the potential to be scammed cause you're not cashing out the gift cards immediately-- meaning that the people you're buying them from could still use the one that they have.

Egifter- https://www.egifter.com/bitcoin/ - should work fine for this, check it out!
3408  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN passing $20,000 and when the next bull run will start on: January 13, 2018, 03:54:12 AM
I'm thinking that the same sort of thing that will happen, we've had too many BS alts come into the space in the last couple months and these projects are going to fail for people at some point, as they actual have nothing but a big hype campaign which is helping them heavily when it comes to price, but it wont last.

Money is going to come back into bitcoin soon, and that will spell the end of the a shitty altcoins making way for bitcoin and the better projects to thrive.
3409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm late! on: January 13, 2018, 01:16:40 AM
You may be late for bitcoin but not for altscoins!

You're going to be late for investing in a good amount of altcoins, because if you are to look at the altcoins in the top 50 -- mostof them have multipled multiple times over in their price, showing that they're without a doubt overvalued and are going to drop at some point when the market finally corrects FOR ALTCOINS

This is bound to happen at some point, and all of this money will seep into the trusted bitcoin as a safe place, where it will most likely peek AGAIN.
3410  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ViaBTC maintenance fee ratio increased by 50% on: January 13, 2018, 01:02:21 AM
I think this kind of behaviour has been well documented among all the cloudmining services over the past years. What can you expect from centralised services, where transparency has been near zero for years and clients continue to invest without ever performing necessary due diligence?

In Via's defence, at least they seem to be offering a way out - though am sure at the $300 per share, they make profits and clients probably end up near break-even, with a lot of time wasted. Many others have just announced contract termination, or contract exchange. Contracts don't mean anything if the terms can be changed by the provider at any time - and guess what? They change it all the time.

Just another lesson in the very fat textbook of why cloud mining can never be profitable.

People will actually still never understand this, they're looking for the quick money which is something that they'll never get. But at least this is respectable enough to document it and to tell everybody, giving them a way out is also a wonderful thing to do and is something that they dont have to do, so a good thing to look at is at least they're doing that.

3411  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: reinvesting, hashflare on: January 13, 2018, 12:55:45 AM
GOD I fail to understand why people to continue to reinvest  in things that are without a doubt scams. Like think about the 'idea' behind the cloud mining scheme, people are going to allow you to pay them to run THEIR machines and pay you the profit in the middle. Now why would they do that? IT LITERALLY MAKES ZERO SENSE

Why don't these people just run their own machines and get capital from somewhere else? So their only way to make money is to squeeze for fees and run away with the cash when they get 'hacked'
3412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The definition of a correction, and why we should stop using the word on: January 13, 2018, 12:43:44 AM
I mean yeah, you could go anywhere and get a different definition for any sort of thing, but if you are to go to a reputable site such as investopedia - https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/correction.asp - this site is something which shows that a correction is a temporary price shift which is going to come back at a certain point.

So yes it may not come back instantly, though it will come back at some point -- this is why people deem the correction word the best word for this.
3413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if South Korea ban bitcoin trading? on: January 13, 2018, 12:33:01 AM
Let's just run through this sort of situation, if this were to REALLY happen and not end up being some fake news. Then this would cause a pretty big stir up in bitcoin, as the price would fall a substantial amount under the guise that more countries are going to follow. There'd be a big sell off and then no other countries would follow, the price would come back up -- maybe even higher, and things would be completetly fine.

So, nothing in the end. It's just a hiccup in the middle.
3414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Coinbase and Decentralization? on: January 13, 2018, 12:29:05 AM
Its not that hard to dump those coins for others on a different exchange and then have coins without a coinbase history

I mean I highly doubt people care that much about where their coins come from, that's like when you'd get bothered if you were to think about all of the places that your CASH has been. It could've been used in drug deals, but we would never know.

Coinbase has really been doing some shitty things and they're dooming themselves, they've gotta pull it together and focus on expansion and making their servers better + support. Instead of just screwing with the market to make money for the ones at the top of the market.
3415  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to survive a Bear Market on: January 13, 2018, 12:07:56 AM
A bear market is all about finding new coins with new opportunities, if you are to try to stick in the same coins then that have multiples multiple times over you're going to lose your money. Gotta find something new and get into it, as the hype is going to be going into all of the new coins, icos, etc.

Just don't join the shitty coins like XRP and tron which is just a hype campaign and a bunch of fomo to get people to buy massive amounts of coins.
3416  Economy / Economics / Re: China and Bitcoin Mining on: January 12, 2018, 11:54:25 PM
News from china isn't going to do anything, the only thing right now that people are seeing (which is FUD) is that South Korea is banning bitcoin, this isn't true but it is a story that the MSM has tried to push in order to push the price of bitcoin and the rest of the cryptos down massive amounts.

If there are massive less amounts of miners there will be a difficulty shifting, and I mean a large one. Old US miners will come back into the game, and in the end nothing will actually change.
3417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask about Bitcoin Transactions on: January 12, 2018, 11:09:00 PM
The price of bitcoin just wen't up, you're not going to be getting any sort of a bonus, so if you were sending to an exchange I suppose you would have more money then you anticipated when you started. But the current state of the network is massively congested with high amounts of fees, so that's the problem that you're encountering right now. Only way for you to fix this is to try to use a tx accelerator, like viabtc.
3418  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common Crypto-trading Mistakes Series on: January 12, 2018, 11:00:42 PM
I mean I wouldn't say that looking at the USD value is a problem, people want to be able to make more money in the currency that they can actually use in their daily lives. What's it going to do for someone if they make money in bitcoin, more bitcoin, if the value of bitcoin goes down and they want to be able to cash out.

So I'd fix that. -- the rest is good though, VERY relatable.

3419  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: PayPal for Physical, Local Goods Is Still Unsafe, Right? on: January 12, 2018, 10:45:53 PM
First of all you've created a topic in the wrong section.
The real problem of those refunds is not in PayPal by itself but in Visa / Master Card. Whenever you fund your account from your debit card it is possible to make a chargeback. It also affects every other payment system that accept cards (Payoneer, Okpay, Skrill,  PayPal etc.). There must be some legal ways to protect yourself, you can also use services that allow you to ciew the previous history of the user but the fact that they disappeared after you asked to use coinbase makes me think that they were scammers.

That's just simply not true, paypal is also the problem because if the person is to say they didn't authorize the charge or they didn't get the goods then paypal is going to side with them unless you're able to prove otherwise, and when you're dealing face to face you're unable to actually prove that anything happened.

Credit card chargeback fraud is one thing, but Paypal actively helps in this by screwing people. They're a horrid company and they must fix their issues.

But yes, local goods on paypal is unsafe as FUCK.
3420  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: my ether wallet can be hacked??/ on: January 12, 2018, 10:15:26 PM
Recently few days i am worried about cybar attack dec 25 i was lost my valuable token. Now i am confused and ask a question in my mind mew can be hack? please give me any suggestion i am afraid now.
MEW cannot be hacked unless someone can access your private keys. You don't have to store the private keys in your computer it is better to store it in a pen drive or write in a piece of paper. And keep good antivirus on yiur computer to stay away from phishing links which can copy yiur private keys.

MEW can be hacked, it's like those hacks that takeover all of the ETH addresses that you'd be sending your coins too. So if you were to want to send coins to x address the virus would change that to Y address, you would confirm the tx on the site and you'd be compromised as your computer is compromised.

This is why you should ALWAYS be using a HW wallet when dealing with a good amount of wallets, live wallets could be hacked at any point and you couldn't change a thing.
