2421  Other / Meta / Re: [RELEASED] @mention notification bot - now with Telegram on: February 22, 2019, 08:04:59 AM
This is an amazing thing that you've created Piggy! I love it!

Might want to add for the tele section though that '@' isn't necessary when sending the bot your username on tele. Just simply writing the username works. The other way with the '@' doesn't work.
2422  Other / Meta / Re: the staff here should ban trolls on: February 22, 2019, 07:55:13 AM
While I do think that this is a rather obvious thing to do, I do think it is something which goes against the core ideals of Bitcoin, the core ideas of this forum, and Theymos' ideals (or at least what I think his ideas are) Once you allow for some degree of censorship, such as removing the trolls and the spammers and such, you allow for people to interpret what a 'troll' is.

Maybe right now a 'troll' or 'spammer' is just people who post random garbage, but in the future (under different management of the forum lets just say) maybe 'troll' is someone with a differing view. This is the problem with allowing for this sort of censorship, as definitions can change under different people--allowing for large scale abuse and censorship under the banner of 'banning the trolls'

So yes, the best thing for you to do personally is to just ignore people and let them do their own thing. Removing their voice is something that could have lasting consequences.

How long would it typically take to use coinjoin anyway? From start to finish that would mean.

As I could see this hurting centralized mixers pretty badly, though only if the time spent mixing is close to comparable. Let me know!
2426  Other / Meta / Re: Notify User when they've been quoted on: February 21, 2019, 09:04:13 PM
You are looking for the Piggy's notification bot.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5023605.0

You can try the new notification system, in order to use it send a pm to Maggiordomo by placing in the subject subscribe and in the body a link to a thread you created (the thread must be on the Archival board anywhere else won't work), this will be used to notify about you being mentioned or quoted across all the forum. You will receive a message confirming you are signed up and some basic information.
When somebody will type @yourUsername or @your=Username (if you have spaces in your username, they need to be replaced with = ) you will get one or more notifications in your thread.
~

Oh damn this is cool, thanks for this!
2427  Other / Meta / Notify User when they've been quoted on: February 21, 2019, 07:13:03 AM
I've looked in the post history for this thread and I can't find this anywhere, so I think this is a pretty helpful feature in other forums that I'm on.

Notifying a user if they've been quoted, makes it a lot easier to respond to people as you know that you're being talked to (or commented on what you've said)

Though I can see the strain on server resources, so make notifications only possible for threads that you've indicated you want it done for (like the current notification system for threads)

Let me know!
2428  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: February 21, 2019, 07:02:08 AM

Poor fella inherited the false-flag gene but not the get-away-with-false-flag gene(ology.)  Sucks to be him...he should have chosen a different mother.

Perhaps when the judge asks him how he wants to plead, he can say that he identifies as innocent.

He was indicted by a grand jury earlier today, and will face felony charges related to his alleged false police report.

This story on its face was ridiculous and not believable. It does not sound like he had any help in planning this scam, at least not from anyone smart.

If I had to guess, I would say Smollett is an extreme liberal who surrounds himself with others who agree with his views, no matter how ridiculous, and never has to defend his views.

Yeah. What had me shaking my head at the beginning was the fact that people recognized that he was an actor on Empire. Now if this was a pleasant Spring day, then sure, that wouldn't have caught my attention. But it was -10 degrees on a Chicago night and, for those that don't know, Chicago is known for it's biting wind. Everyone has on hats, and hoodies, and balaclavas. They are hunched over and walking quickly to get to where they are going. No one is going look up, no one is going to recognize him with a hat on and hunched over.

And this has nothing to do with all the other sillinesses and inconsistencies in his story.
That and in general, Trump supporters don’t watch Empire.

If anything, this was gang activity if the attack was real.

Does anyone watch Empire though? god......

We have our winner! Congratulations KingZee! Get in touch with me about shipping information and I will get your coin ordered ASAP.

Thank you to everyone that made this possible from the participants of the raffle to the contributors towards the funding; this was fun and hopefully we can do more things like this in the near future. Hopefully that wasn't too long for you, squatz!

Hehe, not too long at all.

Thanks for the chance, and congrats KingZee!

I'll be going to bed now.

This account of mine was locked so I was using AlanTuring- account. I got this one unlocked about a week ago.

Proof : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2751964.msg49599596

As number 1 is vacant now, I'd choose that if you allow me to participate

There is still a multiple year post-gap even if that is the case and the activity on that account is almost exclusively free-raffle participation. You do not fit the spirit of this giveaway and I won't be giving you a slot unless you get the approval from 2 of the contributors. At this point slot "1" seems to be going to either philipma1957 or squatz1, but it looks like philip may have gone to bed already so it may go to squatz by default.

oooh mee mee!!!!

Okay Tongue You got it, let's roll this before I fall asleep!

Current Block #563987
Winning Block #563992

Somebody quote the winning block if you would be so kind! Good luck to everyone, sit back and relax while we spin the wheel.

Quoting for reference.

Hopefully this doesn't take too long, I'd like to go to bed mr gator. My morning self is going to be pretty mad at you if I don't sleep well. hehe.

Just paid for my slots, apologies for being the caboose on paying for them. Better late than never in my estimation; good luck to everyone that's participating and thank you ZipReg for running the raffle. I'm going home with both of these, sorry everyone.

2434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CloudBet allegedly defrauding customer for 330.58 Bitcoins? on: February 20, 2019, 11:50:25 PM
MAJOR UPDATE - QUOTING FROM REDDIT HERE

Quote from:
TL;DR:- I have been following this case closely because I was curious about it and finally it's resolved! The guy is from the US. And for the record speaks PERFECT English, lol. When CloudBet asked him for his ID, he got scared and tried to manipulate the situation to hide the fact that he is breaking the Terms of Service, so he ended up sending a fake ID of someone from the Philippines in fear of not getting paid out. Eventually, he admitted his mistake, sent in his real ID, then got paid the entire 330 btc, which was not only his initial deposit(s), but also his winnings. I guess CloudBet paid both instead of voiding all his bets like they usually do in such cases because the case went viral, kind of? I am not sure, but they also signed a message from a wallet that holds 1157 btc so they are definitely trying to prove something to the community here.

CloudBet's Comment: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333552.msg49817125#msg49817125
Hi all,

There has been some discontent in the forums and we would like to take this opportunity to clear a few issues up.

Firstly, please be reminded that Cloudbet does NOT accept any USA players.

USA players are blocked from registering accounts, and are blocked from making bets. If any player from USA attempts to make an account, they see a message saying USA players are prohibited and are not able to sign up.

To reiterate, players from USA are NOT allowed on Cloudbet.

If we have strong reason to believe that a player has deliberately and willingly circumvented our terms of service by connecting from USA (or another restricted territory), we freeze their account while we conduct an investigation, and ask the player to provide documentation on their residency. Please note that this is only when we strongly suspect that a player has connected from USA, ie, there is specific evidence to suggest this.

In most cases, the player is cooperative and provides us with accurate documentation about their account and residency. If they are a USA resident, we close their account permanently, and return their account balance. This has been the case with several vocal users in the forum. Sometimes this can take some time, as every case is slightly different, but is always resolved eventually provided the player furnishes us with accurate information.

If they are connecting from a non-restricted country, we reopen their account and they can resume using their account without limitation.

Please note that in all cases where the player has cooperated, they have received their entire account balance, and had their accounts closed only if they were connecting from a prohibited jurisdiction (or there was a separate unrelated issue). If any forum members in this situation would come forward and confirm receipt of their account balances in full, this would be appreciated.

However - on rare occasions, the player is NOT cooperative and provides us with deliberately falsified or fraudulent information. In these cases, our investigations are significantly more complicated and time consuming.

There is one specific case that has received a lot of attention from the community - Swofty - as the dollar amount is particularly large. Here is our comment on the case:

As we have a duty of privacy to all of our players, we are limited in what we can share. The player may have shared some details, but we are not able to share any specifics or personal data. That said, we can share definitively that the player has knowingly and deliberately provided untruthful, falsified and fraudulent information to both Cloudbet and the community. The account holder is NOT the person that he/she states it is, nor are they in the location they state. The player also knowingly and deliberately circumvented our terms of service by connecting from a prohibited jurisdiction. The reason the player has not been paid yet is entirely to do with them circumventing our terms of service and providing falsified and fraudulent information, and nothing to do with our bitcoin liquidity (more on that below). As the customer provided us with definitively falsified information, we suggested they reach out to Curacao Egaming - with whom we hold a licence - for assistance. This is the correct escalation for any player issues. We intend to resolve this issue in a manner completely fair to everyone once we receive truthful and accurate information from the player. It appears as if the player is now cooperating, so we hope to have a resolution to this case soon.

We have been encouraged by the way the community has responded to rally behind the player and help hold Cloudbet accountable, however in this case the player has not been truthful with the community. We encourage the player to share a more accurate story.

Separately, concerns have been raised about Cloudbet's ability to service the player's withdrawal immediately. You needn’t be concerned - we hold enough funds to cover all of our player balances several times over, and we would never accept a bet that we could not pay in full immediately. We have been around since 2013 and have always celebrated our largest winners, and paid extremely promptly.

We would like to address this in the way requested by the community -- a signed message from a wallet that holds sufficient funds to cover any liabilities that may be due to this player.

We have signed a message from a wallet holding ~1157 BTC. All outputs spent to this wallet are from wallets that belong to us, and had not moved in over a year (we sent them to a single wallet for the purpose of this exercise) so they are not newly acquired coins. We would be happy to sign another message from any of the source wallets to prove ownership if required.

Wallet: 16vk7DahVgj4VsfKKdr1pG3QJ9FvzXpdJN Message: cloudbet.com // no USA players allowed Signature: HxO5QwkA/UNVePahBUzYgWL4Zz5syTC1H6/LeHICsvW0MYG9Q+PgOjNbzVXgXsLbadzFO2wLlz25nsbaXkeTXo4=

You can verify the above message in your bitcoin client, or by using the web interface here

I hope that addresses the community's immediate concerns. If anybody has any further questions or follow-up, please feel free to contact us directly via our support channels, or post a reply in this thread and we will do our best to address them in a timely manner.

Once more, to reiterate, Cloudbet does NOT accept USA players.

Thanks for your continued support, patience, and diligence.

The Cloudbet Team

Swofty's Response: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333552.msg49821239#msg49821239
Hello everyone,

Ronnie is correct in what he is saying, the delay is entirely my fault. I am from the USA and I didn't even worry about my location or withdrawing bitcoin until I got an email from them asking for my ID and things like that.

At that point, I got very scared. I went from really excited about my winnings to very, very scared I wouldn't get any. I have a good online friend in the Phillipines and I asked for help. I had him give his documents and ID that said the account was from the Phillipines. This was a mistake. As of right now, I have sent cloudbet my real credentials (ID, etc) to cloudbet and they know who I am. I want everyone, including cloudbet, to know that nothing I did was meant to manipulate or mislead cloudbet in anyway. All my wagers were made in good faith and I won them fair and square.

I should have been upfront about my situation from the start and this situation would have gone much more smoothly. I can also say that even though a resolution to this issue has not been come up with yet Ronnie is correct in saying we have recently been in touch and we are making progress on coming up with a solution. I have to say I am thankful for cloudbet being reasonable about my situation especially considering my misleading them about my location. I am very, very hopeful we will come to a conclusion soon. I will keep everybody here updated when this is all over.

Thanks for listening.

Swofty

2435  Other / Politics & Society / Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: February 20, 2019, 11:22:42 PM
Jussie Smollett, the man who had said that two racist Donald Trump supporters had attacked him, and attempted to lynch him while stating 'this is maga country. This story was found out to be false.

Chicago PD is now looking at prosecuting the actor for falsifying police reports and lying to police.

Personally, I'm surprised to see the Chicago PD go after someone for this, though I am happy to see it.

2438  Economy / Gambling / Re: CoinLotto - The Worlds Lottery on: February 20, 2019, 12:31:58 AM

I wouldn't be announcing a project on here before the project is even done, that leaves a bad taste in some peoples mouths.

Some random questions I thought of for your project as well:

1. What makes you different from the other crypto lotteries out there?

2. Why do an ICO and not just do your lottery with Bitcoin?

There ya are, let me know what ya think.

We have a weekly Jackpot of 1Million$
we have in total 3 lotteries and we livebroadcast all of our lotteries

You can also play for free and have a chance to win the jackpot

A Jackpot of 1m? Wow. Why do I think you're lying or something. How do you know that you're going to have that much money involved? As lotteries don't know how many people are going to buy tickets and fund the lottery prize.

Are you going to have a company audit your lottery, or is there a chance that it could be rigged?

Why give people the chance to play for free? Seems like a way to lose more money.
2439  Other / Politics & Society / Re: once crypto crushes indebted US dollar, will america become tribal again? on: February 20, 2019, 12:17:15 AM
Yet again, this guy (OP) is a pretty big manic with ideas that come out of his ass. I don't understand why people think the US dollar is going to fall, and crypto is just going to swoop in and take over.
This may sound unreal at first, but if we add some history to the mix it starts to acquire shape.
All fiat currencies tend to hyperinflate and die at some point and their average lifespan is less than 50 years. The oldest existing currency is the British Pound, if i'm not mistaken.
Most countries in the world had several currencies already, so yes, USD could die and will almost certainly die at some point. The transition can be painless, like the introduction of the Euro in the EU, or not so much, like the fall of VEF, ZWD, and many others. Will Bitcoin take over? I don't think so, but it will serve as an alternative for people scared of another great depression.

Quote
If USD falls, everything falls. You're talking about a currency that everyone uses around the world, and if the US has issues with banking / stock market then the rest of the world has issues as well.

Crypto will die if USD dies.

Banks worldwide use it, normal people don't. I live in the EU and I travel quite a lot, but I've never been to the US and I remember one time, about 8 years ago, that I held a dollar bill. It was the second time in my life.
Crypto will take a huge hit if USD dies, but it won't die, just like gold won't die when a fiat currency dies. There's a fiat currency dying somewhere right now and the commodity and crypto markets remain unaffected.

Well yes, there is always a fiat currency dying somewhere in the world. Though none of the ones that are dying are the 'world currency' and the 'reserve of the world' We're talking about minor currencies from countries with failing monetary policies.

I'm not an advocate of Fiat by the way, I'm just someone who thinks in reality (or at least I think so, and that wasn't a shot at you)
2440  Other / Politics & Society / Re: once crypto crushes indebted US dollar, will america become tribal again? on: February 19, 2019, 08:18:22 PM
i have the feeling that americans have huge issues to realise the negative consequences, of a usdollar crash and an economy of cryptocurrencies in the united states,

they might get a tribal society again, like it was before the united states got united by the federal reserve, in 1765 - 1900

countless opposing groups will struggle for recognition, and if rich and hard foreign currencies exist (chinese yuan) the united states might become a poor and bloody place.

when yugoslawia dropped its central bank it got a bloodbath, i wont wonder if usa gets a similar issue.

regards

The US isn't more indebted than Japan is? Why would it collapse as a result?  And it's quite probable that China is more leveraged than the US.

The US does have huge issues. But then so does China, Russia, India, Brazil, England, France, Germany and just about every other country out there.

Yet again, this guy (OP) is a pretty big manic with ideas that come out of his ass. I don't understand why people think the US dollar is going to fall, and crypto is just going to swoop in and take over.
