Lol at China staying neutral. China wants to LOOK neutral. Big difference.

I'll give you this one, that's a fair remark.

2502  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela on: January 26, 2019, 09:55:18 PM
It seems to me that more serious domestic issues have just been sealed up here in the USA that has now freed up resources to pay more attention to what is going on in Venezuela. While I want Venezuela to be autonomous as well, Maduro is a scumbag, and in spite of me having no trust for them the CIA is not monolithic.

Some times intervention can be helpful if there is a light hand. I think the real issues come when it becomes an issue of dominating, creating endless wars, and removing national sovereignty. We only ever witness the shit shows. There have to be plenty of other successful interventions we have never even heard of.

The 'light hand' is key though, I don't want American boots in the ground where it doesn't make any sense to have Americans on the ground.

If we can't handle the problem through sending foreign aid, monetary payments to support the new interim President, etc --I don't think its a problem we should get involved in then.

My rule is always to try to steer clear of boots on the ground.

Quote
My opinion on the Chinese is: they need a business partner, not an inept that can't run a country and keep it in eternal poverty. I believe they learned the hard way under Mao about the dead end that killing the economy is by sticking to "real socialism" dogmas. They have become pragmatic with the economy and adopted capitalism, without political freedom. Like the United States, Venezuela has the largest debt with China. Under Chávez, the economy in Venezuela looked more or less good, and they started investing and made heavy loans backed with oil, as some correctly pointed, to have a beach head for south America/Caribbean. But under Maduro, everything went to a grinding halt. I have watched the official Chinese news channel (its on the free terrestrial digital broadcast TV) and they don't hide the economy mistakes of Maduro's regime, in fact they criticize it.

My point is, China already invested in Venezuela, and they need the economy of Venezuela to actually work, not fail like it is doing right now. Maduro in 6+ years have shown zero signs of understanding this. In my opinion, under a new government, China will remain and in fact finally start their business (banks, rail construction, etc), because the debt is too large for the transitional government to get rid of them, so its simpler to comply with the agreements and let them do business along the Americans and Europeans who will undoubtedly come (Actually only the Americans left, the Europeans are still involved in the drilling oil business in the Orinoco belt region).

Eh, I don't know about the last part about China. I think China is going to stay neutral in this (though I've seen stories saying they're supporting Maduro) only due to the fact that if Maduro falls, US businesses (and other western nations) are going to come in as they know they'll be able too. Who knows what's going to happen, this is a crazy situation like no other.

Shitcoin maker eh?

Hate to be rude but all this service is going to do is add more people to the altcoin mess of making a shitcoin, and then trying to pump it and dump it on people.
2504  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why did Macron arrest Eric Drouet on: January 22, 2019, 03:10:40 AM
Wait, is the executive authority of the President in France that far-reaching to the point that they can literally arrest people on their own command? That can't be true. (at least I hope so)

Yes.

France is basically a dictatorship now.

President can, at will, declare war, engage military forces, pass any law he wants without referring to anyone, arrest and condemn anyone without a fair trial.

That's French democracy for you.

Still can't believe that the President can, at will, arrest people. Any chance you could find a source on that one -- I hope that you can't find one though so I know that France isn't this horrible country.

If you can find one, I've lost all hope in France. (Don't know if I had any before, but that's beside the point)

Do you think this is part of the plan?

Maybe, maybe not. Trying to guess what this politicians are up to isn't something am that good at but I know arresting Éric Drouet at this time was just pouring oil on a dying fire.  It's was just an act of abuse of the executive power. It got to my attention after I saw the tweet from Jean-Luc Mélenchon but lets not forget Éric Drouet was arrested previously for carrying a prohibited category D weapon to an unauthorised protest and the one he was going to was also an unauthorised  one so maybe the police got some intel. Lets see how it plays out this time.

Wait, is the executive authority of the President in France that far-reaching to the point that they can literally arrest people on their own command? That can't be true. (at least I hope so)

I agree with you thought, attempting to guess the 4d chess that politicians and officials are toying with in their head is literally impossible.

2507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Banks Closing A/cs of Customers Who Buy BTC on: January 12, 2019, 07:09:54 PM
https://cryptomenow.com/india-central-bank-strengthens-bitcoin-ban-legalization-plans-scrapped/

Surely every country knows that restricting and banning crypto will lead to an outflow of money from the country.

While this is what people are going to hope to think (at least in our small crypto community, it simply isn't the case), banks are going to be able to have free reign on removing these sorts of people from their banks because they know that they can without too much of an issue. Bitcoin doesn't have the stranglehold over the banking industry that people would hope that they have (yet again, in our community)

Yeah, one way or another, the crypto community in India will still find ways to invest/trade crypto. I read before that they're considering allowing crypto but with strict regulations. They should do that.

This part is true though, probably just with more fees involved as it's going to be p2p.

2508  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I miss the Soviet Union. on: January 12, 2019, 06:42:25 PM
So what you are saying is that the threat of communism was what made capitalism great? I can see that.
What the US has right now looks nothing like a free market economy. No matter what its branded as. Sad

Even if we don't have the 'free market economy' that some people wanted, I do think that our current system is the best system that is currently out there. Just like Winston Churchill said about Democracy, "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others", which is what I think about Capitalism.

It without a doubt has its flaws, but it is the best system that is currently available to lift people out of poverty. I think that commie Hellfish even agrees with me on this one.

But back onto the topic here, I do wish that I was able to visit the country and see the issues that we see in museums and hear about in books. There's something that is much nicer, and more touching, about seeing something in person rather than trusting other people to document it.

2510  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is banning weapons such a good thing? on: January 07, 2019, 11:39:00 PM
You can`t ban guns completely, there is always black market - is a person wants to get a gun, he or she will manage to do it regardless.
More measures shall be implemented to regulate it, for example improved and regular psychological testing.
But even if it is effective, more and more people will raise to protest: it is a threat to their freedom, they won`t be consent with more regulations.

Harping back on an old thread here, but yes this is true -- you can't ban ALL weapons. Stopping criminals is always the end goal though, and getting guns out of the hands of people that shouldn't have them -- such as people who have a mental illness, prior felony convictions, domestic violence charges, etc -- is something that both sides of the aisle can agree on.

At least I would hope so.

2512  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think countries should leave the EU? on: December 15, 2018, 07:43:10 PM
No! Rather, let the people leave the countries. After all, people are not designed to be slaves. And that is what they make themselves to be when they turn their allegiance over to a country.

In America, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, partially India, South American Guyana, and a few other place around the world, the common law rules. What is this common law? It is based in jury nullification. Any local jury can nullify any law in any local location with regard to the case they are judging.

The problem is that the people don't know this, and how to use the jury properly. Google "jury nullification" to see the power that the common law juries have.

Cool

You do though understand that this would only work in cases that have a jury... Because once you leave criminal cases, then you're going to be entering all of the trials without a jury.

Jury nullification is cool and all, I've seen the video on it. But it's not something I would proclaim is like this 'saving grace' for all of humanity.

2514  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US-China Trade War Update! on: December 10, 2018, 01:09:12 PM
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR COMMIE ASS TO COME TO THIS THREAD!

Here's the thing with this trade war, it's been going on for years and it's been something that the US has been losing for a long time now. We've literally just been letting the Chinese do as they please for forever, and only now are we saying -- no, you're not allowed to just steal intellectual property without consequences, and no you cant place tarrifs on goods coming into your country but then want the lowest tarrifs for other countries.

China has been abusing us for long time, and it may not be a quick win -- but I do trust that this administration knows that they're going to do the right thing and win out in the end.

So trade wars are complicated is that what your saying, cause I'm not sure what to believe anymore Trump said they were easy to win.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL!  If you think a man that lost hundreds of millions of his fathers money, lost millions in casino's (for everyone else casino's are a license to print money lol), went bankrupt 6 times, and is NAMED by his own DOJ as a FELON is the right fellow to fix a problem that has been around for decades and is complicated as fuck then you might as well just employ the old JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL policy!

He didn't lose money from his father's company, Forbes even states that he did inherit a small amount of money (compared to the amount that he made himself)

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-35836623

Bankruptcy is used as a way to discharge loans, and even if it is something that isn't 'nice' to do, it does make debts go away and it's part of the law that can be used.
2515  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US-China Trade War Update! on: December 08, 2018, 03:38:32 PM
Trump told us trade wars are easy to win, how come this one isn't over yet.  Why do we need a truce the Chinese were supposed to beg for "peace" they should have given the unconditional surrender by now!  Why has the trade deficit with china increased so much since the trade war started.

Tariff man, he steals from the poor and gives to the rich, a true GOP super hero!

2516  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm hoping to see coin prices decline A LOT in the next couple months. on: December 08, 2018, 03:34:02 PM
Did it even touched to your mind that you are investing alongwith technology and as support to decentralization? or your main purpose is really just to get profit?

You have a nice amount of XRP and I dont have it, Im more focus to bitcoin and Eth. Everyone whats to see the price lower so they can keep on buying but I think  we are starting to recover soon.

I mean, you using the term investing is showing that you're not even real here for the tech. Most people are here in bitcoin and the rest of the coins for profit, they don't care at all what the hell is going to happen with the tech itself. If they can make some good returns, then they're happy. That's the sad truth of the world.

The same as you haha. Each decline creates a great chance for buying more

While I used to think this was the truth, I really don't even know anymore. People have thought they were buying the dip all the way down from 20k, so are they really even buying the dip anymore?
2517  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Core 2GB Block solution on: December 08, 2018, 12:38:34 AM
I enjoy the fact that not only did you call him faketoshi, you then went ahead and say that his plan was correct. Which isn't true in the least, his shitcoin is going to burh shortly when people notice that it was just a pump (with all their BCH) by Craig and Calvin.

I do think that the LN is something that is continuing to gain traction, and it's going to be like a checking account for people when it comes to making transactions. Using a trezor, ledger, or anything that is a more traditional wallet is going to be like your savings account.
2518  Economy / Marketplace / Re: To the Moon vice versa on: December 08, 2018, 12:23:57 AM
Obviously those exchanges are still raking big money even if the market is slumping

Probably about the same despite the price slump, actually.

Take a look at https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/ and https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/historical-data/?start=20171207&end=20181207. Exchanges like Binance, Bitfinex, Coinbase and Bitstamp are currently up anywhere from 40-70% in terms of volume over the last 7 days. Bitcoin daily volume has been sitting around $3-4 billion since May. For the last week or two, it's been up between $6-8.

A lot of that volume is from people panic selling their coins which is causing the price slump, but increased volume means the exchanges take in more in fees.

Though I still think that these exchanges have a vested interest in creating large price swings, as that's the way that they're going to attract the retail investors who rake in the most fees (as they will typically use Coinbase with higher fees instead of Coinbase pro, and so on)

Even with volume up, I do think that higher prices (and the same volume) do make more money for the exchanges as they're going to see more revenue from the sales themselves. Who knows if high prices are sustainable or if we're in a bubble (and its still popping) but I don't think this is the end.

It was a mis type , I was in a rush yesterday, if you check my post history in August or a bit early I was telling others about Segwit.

bc1quujx6ldxjeu5jtml2pgprjl7tv9prrv26kn3g4

I have many such addresses, I just copy pasted the wrong one. People who try to increase their sport bet campaign posts are the worst and if I was the manager I would remove them from the campaign of Sportsbet.io as I see a lot of them here spamming the shit out of this thread.

Not sure you.l get added here since you got a neg and habbear got removed for it...

Looking forward to working with this project

This is an interesting one...
I was going to say from the first line, you look like a bounty spammer. But from the forth, you don’t know what segwit is either.

@squatz, admin side of things? Why the admin?

We've chatted, I hope the forum disregards me being an idiot!!!!!! <3

Or just be normal and check the seclog archives. Or are we not normal here?

Look at my posting habits over the years and they’ve probably changed. Everyone’s probably has to an extent. I doubt satoshi writes like he did in the white paper. Or theymos since his start here...

Well yes, but that's a way to confirm it from the admin side of things. We can only really confirm the way that people write, and the habits they follow. When using this sort of example I meant with someone going from posting with a high proficiency in English to someone that can't really write the language (or has some level of broken English)

This is the example of an account being hacked and sold to people in 3rd world countries with the intention of making money (through sig camps, bounty, etc)

But of course there are better methods of doing this with better accuracy, the only issue is if the admin team would really want to do that sort of thing. I personally don't even know theymos' stance on that.
