2461  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Unprecedented: Trump's Approval Rating Hits 52%, With 90% Negative MSM Coverage on: February 14, 2019, 04:43:34 AM
Even if I do agree with President Trump, this is just a r blog-spam post. Not something that I want to set a precedent as 'real news' on this forum or something like that.

Plus wasn't this just one poll, instead of the average of all of the polls like RCP uses and such?

Yeah - check here for the polls https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_trump_job_approval-6179.html

Little late on this, is this still ongoing?

Let me know.
2463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CloudBet allegedly defrauding customer for 330.58 Bitcoins? on: February 13, 2019, 04:39:44 AM
Still no positive update from Cloudbet, this is not looking good. My geography is very poor, I googled Curasco & notice it is in Peru. I’m not sure they’ll be trackable, I doubt the feds there are going to be much good.

Think you're confusing countries, Curaçao is an island nation. Wiki link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cura%C3%A7ao

So the guy made a 150 BTC deposit?  That should be alarming for Cloudbet if they couldn't handle the action imo.  They should at least limit how much that guy could bet or they'll probably take a huge hit.

If they couldn’t pay out the win then they shouldn’t have accepted the bet, if they don’t pay out it’s disgraceful.

correct . gambling operators should know that gamblers do also bet higher amounts  and 150 btc is only small compare to other big time players . cloudbet   must not start a gambling business if they only have a small amount of capital  .

i thought Cloudbet is really legit knowing it existed for a long time

same here . i knew cloudbet long time ago .

Being around doesn't make you legitimate

of course it does . people can easily get attracted if a site is running for a long time but yeah we will never know in the future if they will colapse

I mean, no it doesn't. Being around for a long time may make you legitimate -- it just makes you reputable (of course if you have a good reputation within that time period) BTC-E was around for good deal of time and people swore by it, then it was taken down by the FBI.
2464  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Green New Deal on: February 13, 2019, 03:14:26 AM
Congress should vote on AOCs version of the GND immediately so voters can see who supports this nonsense.

McConnell has already said he will be doing just this.

Did he really?

WOW YOU'RE NOT LYING WHAT A TIMELINE - https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/12/mitch-mcconnell-to-force-the-senate-to-vote-on-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-green-new-deal.html

This is interesting, I think it's a pretty good move by McConnel to force people to vote on this. It was a joke of a release though, I don't think this is going to help them in the least.
2465  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 12, 2019, 04:17:34 PM
What I am more curious about is why anyone anywhere gives a flying fuck if he is sending or receiving dic pics and why the fuck in the world anyone considers dic pics a scandal ffs.  Also, sort of off topic but I don't understand why men send dic pics, nothing good can ever come from doing it especially if you have any degree of fame at all.

I mean the enquirer "extorting" him and the creepy brother stealing his sisters stuff on the other hand are pretty scandalous IMO

I mean I don't think dick pics are a scandal. It's the fact that it's Bezos' dick pics, the richest man in the world. Also a guy who's going through a public divorce -- and a guy who has kids. I don't know, I personally expect better from a father.

But yes, the enquirer extorting him is also a pretty big story. I do want to see what legal action comes out of this.
2466  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 12, 2019, 03:46:46 PM
That indeed wasnt mr trump Tongue

If one looked at it from a glass half full perspective you might be able to make the argument that Trump gave Bezo's a "free" divorce or IOW saved him 70 billion dollars!

I mean seriously though why the fuck would the richest dude in the world send dic pics, people are so stupid.

It now looks like more solid reporting coming out that it was the gf's brother.  I am curious as fuck as to just how a guy gets a hold of his adult siblings text's etc and also think its a pretty douchey move to steal your sisters stuff for your own benefit (although not a new thing siblings have been fighting since the beginning of time).

Cause even the richest people in the world are like us normal everyday people. The guy probably sent them over text too.

Honestly though, if you're worth 140B (and lets say 70b after divorce) do you really care about the world seeing your dick?
2467  Other / Politics & Society / Venezuela Mega Thread on: February 12, 2019, 12:15:08 AM
I've seen posts come up time and time again relating to Venezuela. Usually they fit into these below categories.

1. Maduro Regime and the US recognizing the opposition government as the interim President of Venezuela.
Comes up rather recently, as the Maduro regime has been said (by Western nations such as the US) to have had an illegitimate election which violated their constitution. Causing the US (and their allies) to recognize Juan Guaido while Russia (and I think China) has supported the Maduro regime as they have massive investments in the country under this regime.

2. Crypto in Venezuelan.
This is one which is gaining steam, as people talk about how the monetary policy in Venezuela is a prime example of how fiat will crash and Bitcoin will reign Supreme. I don't FULLY believe that sentiment, though I do see the rationale behind saying this. Though in recent weeks, Bitcoin usage volume in Venezuela has increased exponentially --> https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins/VES

3. Venezuelan Oil and OPEC
Doesn't relly come up as much, though talking about the OPEC cartel is pretty interesting in showing how oil prices have been artificially set by a cartel that has a vested interest in keeping them high. Sometimes people touch on the fact that Venezeula is an oil nation and relies too heavily on oil to survive.

I'd rather condense a good deal of the threads about Venezuela and move them all into here, I don't know if people in the community will follow me with this. Though I feel like it would allow a more well rounded thread about the country.
2468  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 11, 2019, 11:06:55 PM
Nevertheless what you think about trump vs bezos, the fact is that bezos was worth 70 billion before trump and 140 billion after trump  Wink

Just looking at the money trail, maybe everything is just fake.

MEDIA: TRUMP EVEN HURTS THE RICH, HE'S HORRIBLE FOR EVERYBODY.

But this made me laugh, so thanks for that. Tough to see some regular jokes that don't 'trigger' someone.
2469  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 11, 2019, 04:38:34 AM
Not really sure how accurate the Daily Beast is when it comes to breaking stories, but here's something that's interesting. Seems like they have sources saying that the leaks came from the Bezos' mistresses' brother.

I don't see the connection to Trump in all of this though, and the Daily Beast is stating that as well.

LINK HERE --> https://www.thedailybeast.com/mistress-lauren-sanchezs-brother-leaked-bezos-racy-texts-to-enquirer-sources-say-7?ref=scroll

I'm uncertain about Bezos. The Washington Post has a clear anti-Trump and left-leaning bias, but maybe Bezos purchased it because he wanted to prevent a major newspaper from dying, and he actually does give them a lot of independence. Maybe any pro-Bezos bias by the Post is more of a subconscious thing by their employees than anything (ie. if they know who butters their bread, it'll affect their thinking whether anyone realizes/wants it or not). Ignoring the Washington Post, do we actually know of many instances of Bezos personally attacking good things or promoting bad things? I remember a few things which gave me slightly negative impressions of him, but I don't remember anything major, and I can't find anything with a quick search.

Reading his Medium post makes me tend to respect Bezos more. (Which is the intent, of course.)

It's certainly within the capabilities of several government intelligence agencies to do this spying, but would they? I doubt that Trump would've given some official presidential order to spy on Bezos. Does he have sufficient personal connections within Intelligence to do it off the books? My impression is that Intelligence hates him; in fact, if they did this, I'd consider it most likely that their goal was to set Bezos against Trump.

But far more likely than a major technological attack is that Sanchez's security was shit and someone going through piles of hacked accounts stumbled across this. Or something like that. (Some sources are saying that she just gave the info to others...)

In any case, it doesn't look good for the Enquirer, having a multi-billionaire past the point of caring & out to destroy them.

Doubt the fact that Bezos bought the company for the good of the company, there's no way a billionaire would be spending this sort of money 'for the integrity of reporting' or some bullshit like that. He's trying to make himself and his company look good while putting down opponents. I do agree on the subconscious thing though, that has to be a large portion of it. Though I do think that at the end of the day he'll have a heavy hand if TRULY necessary.

Enquirer is going to go through hell for this, though some did say this was a way to 'kiss and makeup' with Trump -- going after Bezos, that is. Though I still don't see the connection and why Trump would really care.
2470  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 10, 2019, 11:41:35 PM
.... it was said that some of them show him with a wedding ring on his finger. I think many would probably consider this "improper"

As a scandal it seems pretty lame if that's all there is. Plus obviously extortion is criminal.

Does it seem like this is a real deal or yet another attempt to somehow make trump look bad?

Unknown at the moment, though it does seem like a good amount of people keep citing that the NE is a source that is in bed with Trump. This to me is the media trying to make the point that Trump MUST be involved even though I doubt he would get involved in such low-level BS.

People are trying to make this out to be a Watergate-type scandal when it isn't.
2471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CloudBet allegedly defrauding customer for 330.58 Bitcoins? on: February 10, 2019, 10:45:33 PM
Doesn't matter how long a casino has been around, all it takes is a few balances like this and they will question if they should keep the bitcoin.  They will try to silence the player and continue on with business as usual.  This is really sad to see and I hope this people get what they deserve.

It's true, and the sad fact is that they're most likely going to get away with it because Cuarco (or wherever they're incorporated) isn't going to stop them, as their casino friendly environment is built to benefit the casinos.

^  And they're in a bad spot.  If they pay the guy, they take a big hit and it could take a while to get all of it back.  I don't know how big their bankroll is, but I think smaller sites could be forced to close.  And if they decide not to pay the guy, their reputation takes a big hit.

...  Either way their f*cked.  Just assuming the accusation is true of course.

Well, that's the risk with setting up a Casino and they should have thought of that when they accepted the deposit. Their investors should eat the loss and continue. --> Unless they don't care about their image.
2472  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pay U.S. Power Company in Bitcoin? on: February 09, 2019, 10:39:17 PM
Just so people know, this isn't ALL power companies in Japan -- it's one power company that has plans in the works to accept bitcoin, I don't see anything to show that Bitcoin is live yet for them. Tad bit of fake news, but I don't think you meant to do it as cointelegraph obviously has a bias and they're showing it.
Yes, mostly it's a click bait and the company actually isn't accepting bitcoins they're just using an intermediate payment processor. At the end of the day, they still getting fiat lol

I don't see something like this happens unless people are going to be leaving their utility companies if they can't use bitcoin, which I count the odds on that as being slim to none -- as no one is just going to leave their utility company for this as they truly do need power, water, sewage, etc.
Utility companies need us as much as we need them. If there is a market for you, then they should occupy it.

I mean-- eh.

At this point people arne't going to be picking a new utility company because their current one doesn't accept Bitcoin -- for one because you know, there aren't other utility companies for certain goods (Electricity, Natural Gas, etc) and also because utility companies offer other services which people find fine -- such as credit cards, bank withdrawals, checks, etc.

They had no issue accepting the 150 BTC deposit, but they're causing issues giving his money back (even the initial) not surprised with this sort of behavior.
2474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CloudBet allegedly defrauding customer for 330.58 Bitcoins? on: February 08, 2019, 10:44:18 PM
There is already a scam accusations for the same case in the forum. You may need to check the scam accusation board for that. Personally I would not trust cloudbet. There are several accusations against them. It just does not look good.

Thanks for bringing it here.

Cheers :-)

Yeah, I had seen that on this post itself. Though I felt like this would reach a wider audience as people in this section may not be active enough on the forum to check other sections.

i thought Cloudbet is really legit knowing it existed for a long time now and they are also active on making contests (which i have joined both logo and resolution contest and not won because of allegedly inside job for the first prices) and they are really paying the winners. Their prices are really high so thats why. This is just a proof that even strong and trusted sites can be a fraud after a long time. Be careful people.

Being around doesn't make you legitimate --> Mtgox.
2475  Economy / Gambling discussion / CloudBet allegedly defrauding customer for 330.58 Bitcoins? on: February 08, 2019, 05:26:40 AM
None of the statements below are mine, nor have I verified the accuracy of the statements. I thought that everyone in the gambling community would to know about this and for this to have its own thread so if there is legitimacy people do know to stay away!
The player deposited made several deposits that amounted to 150 BTC, and then gained a net profit of 180.58 BTC after making a few bets on different sports markets. Cloudbet.com had no problem taking his deposits, but they are now refusing to pay the player citing account ownership irregularities

Their claims are false because the player in question has provided them with every piece of document they have requested so far. Their latest excuse is that imposters are trying to steal the funds. However, the player has 2FA enabled, and all withdrawals on cloudbet require email verification.

Who are they lying? Folks, save your selves the grief, this book, cloudbet.com, don’t want winners and are making different excuses to deny big winnings. Be careful using them, they might screw you with KYC and blab about betting from banned territories, not that the player in question has those issues.

This case has been ongoing for 36 days now. And the player is very stressed out. Cloudbet do the right if you’re a honest book and pay him.

Update: They also cancelled a winning bet on the superbowl. The player won another 20btc, and without any explanations they cancelled the win and closed his account.

Be careful, there are currently several accusations about scamming users against cloudbet.com: https://steemit.com/cloudbet/@johnycomelately/cloudbet-com-anonymous-cryptocurrency-sportsbook-and-amp-casino-accused-of-free-rolling-players

I looked at your thread and I'm curious and I decided to search google:

Bitcoin Users Can Now Pay Electricity Bills with Bitcoin in Japan

it seems the Japanese are the lucky ones. wait in a few years

I'm not from US, but I don't see any barrier in this.

in countries where there are no clear regulations on cryptos, companies will not add that option

Just so people know, this isn't ALL power companies in Japan -- it's one power company that has plans in the works to accept bitcoin, I don't see anything to show that Bitcoin is live yet for them. 2477  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elizabeth Warren Doesn't Understand Wealth Taxes on: February 08, 2019, 04:53:36 AM
That is funny because the most intelligent people were socialists (Einstein, Hawking(

It is just greed, plain and simple.  Some people get joy from watching others suffer.  A lot of life comes down to luck but narcissists believe they did something extraordinary when it was just a roll of the dice.

Of course it's greed. The genius is to let people think they are free, and that they are benefiting themselves by their labor. Then the people will work hard and willingly, for themselves - 'cause they are greedy, too - while you pick up a little bit of profit off each of a big bunch of them.

In the Revolutionary war, the rich geniuses who figure out the Constitution needed help to fight King George. What they did was give the people real freedom so that the people would back them. And that almost wasn't enough.

Today, government consolidation is pulling the freedom away. It isn't the geniuses in government doing it. It is the Elizabeth Warrens. And the people are falling for it, 'cause they aren't intelligent enough to see what is really happening.

But it will ultimately backfire on her. People don't work well under socialistic slavery.

Cool
Never understood when people attack greed for being wrong. Greed isn't wrong, it's what started this country and what is going to continue to define it. I see little to no purpose in life if you're not continuously longing for some sort of end goal -- which is you, being greedy, and chasing a goal.

Punishing those that are job creators isn't going to work, and its seen in countries such as Venezuela the horrid atrocities that can come out of that mentality.

Greed is one of the primary destructive forces in people. Greed can cause people to focus on what they want so extremely fiercely that they forget to maintain their own life properly.

If we got rid of government regulations, and let people know it, people would automatically become their own job creators.

Cool

No one here has said that all government regulations are bad, as I think there are certain functions of government which are pretty vital. Some examples would be monitoring pollution -- as companies have no financial incentive to not pollute the earth, or to monitor the financial sector and ensure that people aren't taken advantage of.

Though there is burdensome regulation that may be well-intentioned but are in the way of progress and isn't really doing anything to support the country. Because there are certain issues that bureaucrats in Washington are only touching in order to ensure job security, and not to actually regulate for reason.

2479  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump condemns socialism in SOTU on: February 07, 2019, 09:27:29 PM
What should I say about this? "HAHAHA"? I find Trump's statement nonsense. The US once sanctioned Venezuela and made it something that will make this thing as "socialism" expand because of stupidity.

I think Socialism will always be there and it won't be stopped by anyone even Trump himself. Socialists will always be there to take advantage of every opportunity for profitability.

Russia and China will be there to take their part in socialism and we need to get ready for that. The US is trying to survive the threats these socialists could affect them. The conflicts are flaming and I think there's something that will happen soon. Maybe Trump is getting bored with this kind of things and wanted something interesting like war.

I've never understood this narrative at all, most of the US sanctions that were placed on Venezuela were done under the Obama administration. This is an administration which admired the Chavez era, and an administration that was called by conservatives to be one which supported Socialism around the world and wanted it in America.

This was an administration that should have been friendly to socialist countries-- but because of the evils in the country, disregarding the socialist policies, the administration is taking action.

Though, I do think that Americans do love wartime presidents -- they're always more popular if they're fighting a common foe of all American allies and political parties.
2480  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump condemns socialism in SOTU on: February 07, 2019, 02:01:54 PM
That was one hell of a SotU. I couldn’t believe the way Trump controlled the room. Then today the Fed stated their next rate change might be a decrease. So much winning...

+1 Pretty proud of how presidential he sounded, it was a great deviation from the norm. Even though I must say that I do like the norm most of the time.

What a load of tosh. It's the US sanctions and subversive regime change activities that have screwed Venezuela. Everybody knows that the US just wants to steal the oil and gold reserves, and John Bolton has declared this publicly. We must be getting close to a massive world shakeup when Russia or China, or some other nation sinks a US aircraft carrier. Maduro is an ex-bus driver, and not the best politician that the world has seen, but the US must remove sanctions, and give the Venezuelans a chance to escape from starvation and foreign oppression, and try to rebuild their country.

This is a lie and you don't live here. The source of the Venezuelan misery is Maduro's "real socialism" economy, aka. command economy. This was proposed by Chavez but was actually implemented in full by Maduro. No US sanctions affected anywhere the people, and i have told you elsewhere there have been no sanctions against Venezuela, only against the corrupt officials, and only recently in the last few years.

Stop repeating this lie about a reality you know nothing about.

Also you are deluded in political fiction. neither Russia nor China is going to sink anything, and they don't have ANY military forces stationed here. Russians have almost no presence here, there might be a few mercenaries as rumors say to "protect" Maduro, but that's about it. Putin isn't stupid to involve himself in a country where he has so little (or nothing) invested. And China is angry with Maduro's inability to fix the economy, they won't do anything beyond some diplomatic protest to save face while in reality negotiate a good agreement with whoever replaces the usurper. The opposition President Interim Guaidó has already openly stated that China has nothing to fear and in fact be grateful their investments would actually have a chance under a proper economy.

The Chinese learned the hard way socialist economies fail. THEY KNOW Maduro is going to fall. Even the Cubans know at this point, there is no turning back.

Maduro is done for it within a couple months, the interim President is going to be naming new people to the CitGO board which is going to remove a good amount of ability from the Maduro administration.
