3461  Other / Meta / Most popular board by activity. What is it? on: October 24, 2015, 03:29:05 AM
Sorry for this very noob question but looking through the general statistic of an account here I noticed there are two tables in ther the one about the most popular boards by post and the most popular board by activity.
So what I want to know is how is the percentage on the moat popular board by activity determined? It is related to the current activity count of an account right? Huh
3462  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Service like gofundme that has bitcoin option? on: October 24, 2015, 03:21:23 AM
AFAIK indiegogo start to accept bitcoin.

Well I googling it and found this http://www.crowdfundinsider.com/2015/01/61342-bitcoin-crowdfunding-application-lighthouse-now-available-public-download/ never use this platform but looks like interesting.

No, I don't think indiegogo accepts bitcoin. I already registered in there tho, and yea, only paypal and credit card. I googled about indiegogo and saw that they are considering to add bitcoin but they didn't implemented it.
The lighthouse does seem look like interesting but unfortunately it's not available inobile or they don't have a web app. It's a software if I am not mistaken. Unfortunately I don't have a PC.

Thanks for the suggestion btw.

So what is this exactly? Can you provide more information in OP? Is this some kind of referral? what is sato.sh?  Undecided
3464  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin ever Crash and be unpopular? on: October 24, 2015, 02:32:23 AM
there are only 2 options. 1= bitcoin will succeed and see the adoption rate go through the roof. 2= bitcoin is being replaced by something much better which makes bitcoin basically useless and lose support of the people.

This should answer your question. Yes, there is a chance that bitcoin will be in total ignorance but I guess not in the near future or in 10 years. Bitcoin is still progressing to reach it's full potential socI think it'll be possible for people to just dump the coins if it promises a good profit in the future. Wink
3465  Other / Meta / Re: Isn''t repeated posts considered spamming? on: October 23, 2015, 11:43:22 PM
So I recently noticed some threads specially in the beginners & help section. There are questions which are answered by different people yet they are all saying the same thing, they are just rephrasing the whole thing. Shouldn't that be considered spamming? Also can those be reported or not?

I recently got my accuracy down to 96% for reporting such stuff. Cheesy

Tried reporting a lot of it these past few days, and I just made my reporting accuracy down to a good 82% Cheesy It is pretty subjective in the eyes of the reader and the moderators as well. There are cases when the op still can't catch the idea of what others have already posted and still needs some clarification on the matter.
True thats why I don't bother with those kind of posts, and my post accuracy is still 98%(closing on 99% now). To OP, a person may have different opinion on a question asked by someone, but many people may hold the same opinion about the same thing as well so in a way they are contributing to the discussion by stating their opinion on the subject which shows the collective opinion of the forum. AN example f this would be "How to earn in this forum" posts where most people will reply Signature campaign, just because they answered late doesn't mean their opinion isn't unique and shouldn't be seen as one.
Hope this answers your question, and yeah if you got confused while reading my answer, it happens sometimes I get too jumbled up if I write a big reply.
No, I understand whar you mean clearly. Cheesy

I understand but doesn't that make the latter posts with the same thought on it redundant? I understand that they also want to contribute but then I guess atleast reading through the comments could also help, I mean if they think their suggestion isn't there yet then they could add it up not just repeat the same thought in a jumbled sentences.

It might b or might not as the question cannot be answered until you place a thread as an example .
however i havent came across such behavior in general,
check lauda's reply on spam posting
A important thing here would say it that it also doesn't really matter how users see it. It matters how the moderator who is judging the post sees it. There are people who are much softer and people who are stricter like me and Mitchell. I never understood why people complain about only a few of their posts being deleted.
Correct. It really depends on who is handling it. I rarely even mark reports as bad. That's the only soft side of me, I let someone else do it (especially when not sure). Read this post by BadBear. I do delete such posts especially if they aren't really constructive. In my opion a person could combine everything in a single post and thus they should not be doing this.

People need to change their habits. I have a tendency to update my post and reply to people under me to avoid clutter.

I see. Well not to limit the peoples free speech but then IMO such redundant posts don't deserve to stay posted. Unless the OP stated that s/he needs clarificafion, that might need another rephrasing.

3468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What exactly is bitcoin halving? on: October 23, 2015, 02:23:33 PM
Some people think that the subsequent reduction in supply will drive up the price. I don't really buy that. There's already enough coins out there to meet demand and of the coins traded every day, the volume is multiple times more than the mined coins arriving. If demand rose significantly then it might be a factor but outside sentiment, which is more important than anything so it does count, I don't think there's any other reason for it to rise.

I understand the supply and demand thing. So what you mean is that the price increase after the halving does not have a solid proof that it will really increase at all? Huh

I don't think you understand that well... or you wouldn't be asking these basic questions, no offense.

Well as I've said I know how the supply and demand works. It's pretty basic. What I'm trying to clear is what bitcoin halvings is. I'm pretty much new to bitcoin so I don't know a lot yet. In that post I am referring to the halving and not the supply and demand thinggy. Wink

3470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines Bitcoin Progress Status for 2015 on: October 23, 2015, 01:38:18 PM

Nice idea of reviving. And for a start we can do a meetup first for all bitcointalk Pinoy members out there. Smiley Hope Bitcoin PH group will back again to their usual meetups like they always did in the past.

Yep, and if we can't get the old facebook group back, maybe we can create another new one and invite all other Pilipino here in the forum to join and maybe we can do our part to help the bitcoin community group. Smiley

Nice idea but are there still active admin in that group? Just making sure that no conflicts will happen or much better if we will invite them too. Maybe you can start making one. Im with you. Smiley

Well, let's see in our local thread here if everyone is interested in joining the group. They might even know an admin from the old one.

-snip-
As far as ATM's i see on facebook several machines installed in Makati areas.

There are bitcoin ATMs in Makati? Haven't heard of that. In what place exactly? In the CBD or not? This might come in handy given that most of my activities are located in Ayala and Mckinley hills.

--

If bitcoin hits the local news like GMA or ABS, or even featured in some of the tech news sites such as Rappler, people will surely take a look at it most especially thee families of OFWs. The thing is, once it got mainstream, expect that the tax division would keep a keen eye on bitcoin users."
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/philippines-first-two-way-bitcoin-atm-opens-heart-manilas-financial-district/

There is only one bitcoin ATM there. I wonder if that ATM is oftenly use or not. Grin

You are right on that part, I doubt the government will let the taxes pass when we use bitcoin but then again, it will also works as fiat so I think that is probably necessary.

Back on the topic, look like Bitcoin PH facebook group are not active now doing meetups. Back in June or July if Im not mistaken they conducted a meetup in Makati and that the last meetup I've heard of them. In the past they doing regular meetups. I just wondered where are they now.

I as one of the admin there, I've been trying to hook them upxhere in the forum but then no one in there wants to do something that requires work. Grin

I think the members of Bitcoin PH has already quitted bitcoin or maybe they were just too busy with their own lives now. Well I wish a group specifically dedicated for us Pilipinos' who believes in bitcoin. We could also revive the old group meetings to help the community. Smiley
3473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines Bitcoin Progress Status for 2015 on: October 23, 2015, 12:43:38 PM

The thing is, people in our country (well most of them) see bitcoin as some kind of tool where they could get easy money from. I know a lot of people that adapts to bitcoin mainly because they notice how easy it is to profit from all the ponzi/hyip that surrounds the image of bitcoin in our country. Only a few bitcoin users in our country axtually has a deeper understanding of what bitcoin is. I find that as one of the reason as why bitcoin will not reach the mainstream any sooner. They use bitcoin without even knowing how bitcoin works. All they care is how easy it is to earn this "bitcoin". If our fellow kabayan will only view bitcoin like that then I don't think bitcoin will be succesful in our country, well not to those who understand what it really is but it will surely help the bitcoin community to spread in our country if people could take a deeper look to bitcoin rather than seeing only the obvious part.

Exactly. You will see some traits like that in #pangkabuhayan Facebook group (I know you are there too) where majority of people there are living in HYIP and want an easy money. Even the admin there always promotes ponzi then will cry after. I suggested many times that there is a safe sure method to earn BTC's that requires patience and work but majority of them ignoring me and not that serious. How can they have a deeper understanding about what bitcoin is if all of them thinks that bitcoin is just an easy money and nothing to learned about it as long as they receiving coins.

Not that admins are promoting hyip there, they just don't make a preventive measures against it. Those admins are not selected because they do know more about bitcoin but because theycwere the ones whoxwere acgive at the time when the group was just starting.
The bad thing about that group is they take hyips seriously like it's the only way they can earn online, there are some people who gives warnings but it's being ignore, and then once they've lost their coins, they will only suggest to just leave it out and wait for another one to come up.
Well bitcoin is not the main source of income of people in there but still I think some of those who really understands bitcoin needs to be there and guide the other members to choose the right way of earning.
3474  Other / Meta / Re: Isn''t repeated posts considered spamming? on: October 23, 2015, 12:16:46 PM
I think this could be considered as spamming, imo... But it would be up to the mod to make a decission

Altough, there were situations where i've done this to... For example:

Somebody asks a question => i'm the first to read the question and want to help the asker => i make a long post, explaining everything in detail => i click submit, but see the warning that somebody else already replyd => i click submit without reading the reply that was created while i was also making my reply => afterwards i notice that what i said is almost the same as the previous reply => i leave my text as it is, since i put a lot of time and effort into creating it, and i didn't just copy/paste the previous reply, the "spam" was unintentional

I can understand that these replys would be subject to deletion tough  Grin

An example is this one:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1217999.0
I see a lot more threads with the same scenario everywhere.
Well I get annoyed so I had to ask here. I tried reporting some posts to mods and yea, I think they wouldn't delete it. Cheesy
3475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines Bitcoin Progress Status for 2015 on: October 23, 2015, 12:13:50 PM
Well I don't think teachers would be teaching bitcoin in school if it is not on the mainstream of our country.

Well that is just my own perspective on how bitcoin in the future will be, lol Grin but I think that is not the point here, popularity of bitcoin will rises on its own, there are many that I know are tend to seek profit online and did come across about what is bitcoin.

Cheesy

Isn't this the fault of the person asking the question, instead of the one answering it? Or do you mean one person asks a question, and a ton of people answer this same question, but they all say exactly the same thing?

I was referring to the ones who is answering it.  Yes one person ask and it gets answered by tons of people who is just explaining the same shit all over. Grin

Also those people could not be reading the previous posts so yea, I think those kind of stuffs should not be allowed right?
3477  Other / Meta / Re: Pinning [Overview] The one thread to link them all on: October 23, 2015, 12:03:23 PM
I am one of those who also think this is worth pinning but where? I think it's more suitable to put it in beginners & help section rather than in Bitcoin discussion as it also have some topics regarding the forum and not just bitcoin itself.

I mean, I mostly see crime news in our local television. That's the fastest way a news will trend right? LOL. Cheesy
Well I doubt it will be that easy for everyone to adopt in bitcoin once it hit the media but I think if they have a glimpse of what bitcoin is, it may strike their interest. Wink

Well I think you are certainly right, a right push to a person that has no interest in bitcoin can make them have a little spark on what will bitcoin can to for them, but what can you say about teachers teaching their student about bitcoin? maybe that is a good start right? lol.

Well I don't think teachers would be teaching bitcoin in school if it is not on the mainstream of our country.
