Brugge and Benfica will be very happy that they have drawn each other, for both a golden chance to make it to the next round through this draw.

I wish all to best to guys from Brugge, but I think Benfica will be better this time. Odds as for today are around 3.60 - 2.10. And Benfica has a good series of consecutive victories (5) while Brugge won only once in the last 5 games (2D 2L).

575 BTC WIF (1HZNsUqQxKVLmfPfCAzLwrnVDzx8CxwxnM)
That's interesting that treasure is always SO BIG, almost no-one comes with 0.05BTC damaged WIF, it is always a small fortune.

Edited photo of a screen(!) and at the same moment hand-written key. Torn piece of paper etc. etc. Knowing public key it is easy to find knowing the range is so small, no result of course.

And one more with the same approach, edited photo of a screen. At least 2 versions are circulating.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Forged or empty WIFs (paper wallets) - do not waste your time on: November 07, 2022, 10:33:30 AM
"Infamous" WIF 500, with a strange story behind. Partially burn diary with a hand-written WIF. Not sure if address is compressed or not. Subject of extensive collective search:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5404406.0
https://cracked.io/Thread-500-BTC-PRIVATE-KEY-WIF-LET-S-CRACK-IT

Other data visible on the photo:

That's interesting case because more than one single photo is available. Maybe there are still minimal chances it is real if some character(s) are misspelled.

Address emptied in 2016

Piece of paper used as a example(!) of damaged WIF on WIKI page about paper wallets: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Paper_wallet
Some people still try to restore that WIF!

3 edited addresses which "looks like" bitaddress.org generated paper wallet. Restored private keys generates completely different addresses, of course all 3 are empty. That photo comes probably from seller from Russian forum.

3 edited pictures, situation similar to the one described above. I have no idea what was the idea behind that black/white edition, but at least I appreciate that it is something different than usual blurring Cheesy

366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Forged or empty WIFs (paper wallets) - do not waste your time on: November 07, 2022, 10:33:01 AM
Hello,

Being author of few programs for restoring partial WIFs or seeds, I am often contacted by people who claim to be owners of damaged paper wallets. In the most cases it is unfortunately not true - I do not know who is the source of that images, but it is surprising for me how that content is circulating and comes back to me (sometimes after several weeks/months). Each time another person assures me about authenticity of treasure and disappear after it appears to be a waste of time. There are always 1-2 photos (always the same) so it is not possible to ask for another photo, with a different angle etc.
I have decided to publish some of paper wallets/images which were sent to me more than 2-3 times and which appeared to be emptied log time ago or are forged - their authenticity cannot be confirmed by successful restoration. Maybe it will save other's time (and money).
In other words: if someone shows you one of these addresses (or try to sell them to you), you know it is not worth to work on it.

(moderator: I try to send each case as a separate post, please do not merge)

Just to clarify that when you click play you send us your client seed and as that is one of the 3 components that make the results it's impossible to predetermine it.

I am sorry but I have to ask: how may I be sure that after I send my part you do not calculate 2-5-50 different server seeds and choose the one which is "the cheapest"? Is there any sequence on server side (per user, per day etc.)?

ALGO maja jakas umowę z Fifa?

No wyglada na to że mają, i że to nie tylko kawałek papieru. Ale cóż - dopóki nie zobaczę ich reklam w czasie meczu to nie uwierzę ;-)

You're right. The period when the BTC is trading at a low price is the best time to be more active on the freebitcoin site. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the base prizes from the Wheel of Fortune will start to decrease when the BTC price reaches a range of $27-30k. So if some users have accumulated a lot of spins, they should use all of them soon as it looks like the bearish trend is gradually ending.

That's a good remark. What I do recently is to collect premium WOFs and execute only daily emails WOFs. I do not remember what is the exact price to have base prize decreased, but I think I will execute my WOFs around 25k.
The other side-effect of BTC price is price of FUN token, now it is still quite high, but we already see it decreased from 38 to 36 sats with the recent BTC price change.

371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you watching Online Gambling Streams? Short survey and discussion on: November 04, 2022, 03:15:59 PM
The survey takes about 10-12 min and can be answered in English or German.
https://limesurvey.allgpsy.uni-due.de/index.php?r=survey/index&sid=195442&lang=en

Could you tell us more about your research? For which purpose it is? Is it for your thesis?

Personally I always found weird to watch someone else playing/gambling, as a poor substitute to performing the activity itself. But maybe that's what people like to do nowadays - watch other's life - and it could be anything, from playing games to streams with real trading on stock market.
372  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do you use blockchain explorers? on: November 04, 2022, 01:34:14 PM
You may consider adding option 'own hosted explorer' for that (minority I guess) users who run their own node & additional servers.

Selecting "no" to the 2nd question brings "What software/services do you use in your work with crypto?" - it could be a little out of scope, but you may also consider adding it to the main survey.
373  Economy / Gambling / Re: I won 1500 dollars on a ufc fight + quit gambling on: November 04, 2022, 01:26:52 PM
OP: you said you stopped gambling until 2023. Does it mean that you only take 2 months long break?

I assume gambling is not your main source of income, did you consider stopping gambling at all? The hope and waiting for repeating the success may cost you a lot. I think people who know the taste of win have bigger problems with stopping comparing to people who never won any significant amount.
I presume he's considering it for the rest of the year 2023 as well not just that he resumes when 2023 comes. I think OP got so lucky and not a regular gambler at all that's why he wants to quit, imagine 9k USD isn't that much yet he thinks it's already worth it. Regular gamblers would even quit on five or six digits winnings.

I cannot not mention the guy who few weeks ago won 10BTC on freebitco - he was a long time gambler and his loses made him stop gambling at all. He was around -5BTC in the long term statistics, he stopped gambling but he still had some tickets for the lottery and bang! 10BTC. Just like a reward for a good decision for the future of his life.

Maybe look there: http://blockdata.loyce.club/ (more details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5307550.0)

Depending on the connection speed (and your computer, especially if you have SSD or slow HDD) it may take less than 55h, I think 24h is realistic scenario.

The fact that i could roll it 24 times per day doesn't really help when you look at the big picture.

Is there a way to change client's (browser?) seed? Is server seed static (for client, for a day) or is it randomized every roll?
In other words - as we work with server seed, client seed and nonce, what is the lifetime of client & server seeds?
377  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Creating Bitcoin addresses in OpenCL on: November 04, 2022, 08:16:17 AM
You should be able to complete the whole process on GPU so quickly that the communication overhead in any intermediary steps will impact the address generation throughput a lot.
Do you have a source of entropy that you'd like to use? If not, you may even be able to sample the private key on the GPU.

Why not to use any build-in RNG? Or you may generate them on CPU (using your favorite method), copy to GPU and then generate addresses.

Maybe look at that project: https://github.com/bstatcomp/RandomCL (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11227-019-02756-2)
378  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why did satoshi develop bitcoin in windows? on: November 03, 2022, 10:56:09 AM
Do not you overcomplicate things? The whole discussion starts from assumption that linux is cool and windows is for dumb people. Using other system just to pretend you are someone else? It almost smells like an another flame war.

Windows has and had:
* The best market penetration.   To get more users of an application you can write it on Windows
* Wide range of development tools and software for development.

I agree with that. You have everything there, tools (& support) and many potential users. It would not make a sense to develop a software for a limited number of users just because linux is so great. And than of course adding extra effort to port it to windows.
And again - remember that decade ago linux was even less popular then today and the fragmentation is also a problem - even if you had a 'linux users', many of them preferred to use packages instead of building from the source* - so you must prepare your program for several distributions.

I agree, whenever we don't have higher expectations we also do not feel the disappointment when not receiving a higher prize.I would also like some people mentioned here would love the option to convert the GT tickets to Satoshi if possible as there are people who would prefer more 0.00125 Bitcoin rather than 5 GT tickets.I don't know if Freebitco.in will implement it as it is not in their interest but they can implement it in the sense that you cannot withdraw the money, you can only use it for purchases or gambling in the site, that would be a nice option.

That's interesting. I do not know what is their point of of view, but as we have FUN, why not to use it as a (another) currency?
If we may buy GT, why not sell it, even if not for sats then for RPs or FUN. There is always so many tickets each round, that even if some people would prefer to sell them (for example for RP, to convert them later into sats), it would not change a total amount/chances a lot. I may understand if they do not want RPs or GTs to leave account, but possibility to convert them would be a nice add-on.
On the other hand we may say that they may give GTs for free (almost no consequences for 99.999% percent of users), while when they give RPs or Sats at the end they always risk that that "won" amount will leave the service.
