All other links allowed in a user's profile can lead to outside the forum. I don't see why an avatar link shouldn't be able to lead to an outside link.
True. Well, it'll just make things worse then.
All other links on a user's profile at least have the ability to have a description of the link. If you have a website link in your profile, you must have a website title, and any link in your signature must either be a "raw" link or have some kind of text if using the url= bb code.

If your avatar contains a link, there would not be any text, only an image.

Also, the forum has been hacked via the avatar system before, so I doubt that theymos is exactly eager to be making changes to the avatar system.

Anyone can also add a short link to their personal text. It would not be clickable, however it would be nearly as good as a clickable avatar.
362  Other / Archival / Re: Hyperlink under the avatar on: October 02, 2021, 02:22:32 PM
It's a nice idea, but only if the link is not outside the forum. Otherwise, it'll just be another attempt to make the forum a better place which will be then abused by bounty hunters.

If links must lead to forum threads/links, bounty hunters will simply have the link set to a thread for the project they are supporting.
363  Economy / Reputation / Re: Suspected Hero and Legendary account fraud on: September 27, 2021, 03:41:56 AM
You paid $8000 for two forum accounts? I’m sorry but there is just no way a reasonable person would justify that price. Circa 2014, forum accounts would go for roughly the amount they could earn in one month via signature campaigns. This was when trading forum accounts was more accepted than it is today, so there was little risk of receiving red trust when your account is discovered to be sold.

Also, you are claiming that you used escrow but never accessed the account. Did you instruct the escrow agent to release the bitcoin to the seller? If so, why? If not, did you complain to the escrow agent? What was the outcome?
364  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gabby Petito on: September 22, 2021, 04:37:33 AM
It looks like the body found was Gabby’s, and the initial cause of death was homicide (source). It’s too bad, I was hoping she would turn up alive somewhere, maybe wanting some alone time.

We should find out more information about how she died soon.

She seemed like a pretty nice girl. She might have had some rough spots in her life, but appears to had been an overall good person.
365  Other / Meta / Re: Disadvantages of non detectable early Plagiarism on: September 19, 2021, 03:42:15 AM

I would not ban him for this post, but would see it as multiple low effort posts. It is clear that what he wrote was not his original thought and that he got the specific information from a single source. This is not something that was inspired by a source. He made changes to the syntax of what was written.
366  Other / Archival / Re: Have 75.000 Fun token locked on Freebitcoin - Should i gave it as collateral? on: September 19, 2021, 02:58:12 AM
I would advise against accepting an account with tokens as collateral.

If you can withdraw the tokens, send them to a lender (or escrow) so they can sell them if you default.
367  Economy / Reputation / Re: WTF Maidak? on: September 15, 2021, 02:07:56 PM
I have additional questions for each of the parties. Hopefully they can agree on the answers.
1) Aside from the alleged loan, has there been any kind of lending relationship between the two of you? If so, what were the terms? What amounts were involved?
2) Is this the first time any kind of work was performed for legendsrer? What were the terms? Was payment made as agreed? How much was involved in terms of price?
I also have questions for maidak:
1) When was the alleged loan due? How much interest was being charged?
2) How much were you charging for the work you are alleging you completed? Did you deliver the work in question? If so, can you make said work public?

^TLDR
No lending relationship but I did some work for him, he paid me upfront as well, he paid me around $10K USD. I don't know who contact with me via telegram, but he has introduced himself as legendster and made a good relationship with me via telegram. Throughout the whole of May, he builds up good relationships with me and in early June asked 3k USD for testing something, most probably he mentioned he wanna test somewhat liquidity on an exchange. Since he paid me over 10K USD and made me trust him, I gave him the funds. He kept in touch with me throughout June and in early July I noticed that he had deleted his telegram account and all conversation has been disappeared. I tried to contact him but failed & noticed that he logged in to the forum regularly and his password was also unchanged at that time, when I threatened to create a flag against him via DM in the forum, he knocked me again from an unknown telegram ID and requested me not to create the flag, he explained he faced some problem that's why he forced to stope communication, he backed me $500 in coinbase and asked few more days time to repay the due amount. Though I didn't feel comfortable but I can't report against him due to lack of evidence and my business.

Are you saying that a random person contacted you on telegram claiming to be legendster and that you conducted no verifications? I’m sorry but that is insane.

If this person paid you $10k for work completed, I would say that it looks like he got a 30% discount. I don’t see you ever recovering any of the money you are owed. Based on what you are saying, despite the poor security on the part of legendster, I don’t see how any reasonable person would consider him to be at fault.

Good luck.

1. I've never interacted with this cunt before. In or outside the forum. Unless he's hiding his other identity.

2. Never met him. Never hired him. For the last 2 years I have been focused with marketing (and telegram/discord modding) work so not hiring any freelance coders or whatever.

There was no loan.

There was no work.

There was no deal.
Thanks for answering those questions.

I would like to hear if maidak agrees that there was no additional lending or business relationship beyond what he is claiming.

Do you have any evidence of the transaction? Other than your word?

Unfortunately not, that's why I didn't make any report yet cause I don't have strong evidence, surely that guy (real owner/hacker/new owner) noticed that and made this drama.
I just texted him to scare him that he might return the money for fear of reputation but the ultimate result is appearing in this hacking drama 5 months later.

He claimed his property was hacked last April and now 5 months later he is reporting about that.
I can give only screenshots from coinbase account but you know those are useless without tx fees & he will never pay me back.
You should post whatever evidence of the loan you have.

As someone who was “here” in 2011, IMO you should have done better in documenting the loan, but the evidence should still be presented.
371  Economy / Reputation / Re: WTF Maidak? on: September 14, 2021, 07:01:03 PM
Maidak, or "Maidak" has not posted evidence he actually provided a loan, or is otherwise owed money from you. If anyone is going to take him seriously, he needs to do so.
Agreed. @Maidak, please post screenshots of your loan conversation with legendster.

He has deleted all chat history from Telegram. Unfortunately, I can't see anything there.
What was the txid you funded the loan with?
Sent via coinbase email to avoid excessive tx fees.

Since when did SuchMoon become SuchShitTalker?
Suchmoon has been talking shit for years. She is very well known to be a......well I don't need to be too specific.

TBH, your story does not add up. This includes creating this thread in response to being asked to repay an alleged loan.

Maidak, or "Maidak" has not posted evidence he actually provided a loan, or is otherwise owed money from you. If anyone is going to take him seriously, he needs to do so. The fact that legendster's account was compromised was previously public information, so it is not outside the realm of possibility that he is just taking advantage of the situation.

Both parties are acting like children, and should stop, as entertaining as it is to watch.

This sums it up, really. No need to look any further, or to engage with the content. With such a 'witty' nom de guerre, how could we fail to take the article seriously?  Roll Eyes
I was about to post the very same thing, however apparently Zero Hedge "staff" always posts using this pseudonym source
376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I saw my first counterfeit Covid vaccination card yesterday… on: September 06, 2021, 10:59:53 PM
They told me they paid $100 for it

Imagine paying $100 for something that is literally free.

It'll be interesting when he brags about it and ends up in jail for providing forged documents.
It is not possible to simply get a "vaccine card" for free. You need to take the vaccine in order to get a vaccine card. People appear to be willing to pay $100 for a fake vaccine card in order to avoid having to take the vaccine.
377  Other / Meta / Re: Giving merit to people when you don't agree with them on: September 06, 2021, 10:52:02 PM
I try to give merit to posts with a lot of effort put into them. Similarly, if someone either is helpful, or is asking a thought provoking question, I will also generally award them some merit for their post.

The purpose of merit is to give it to the types of posts there should be more of.
378  Other / Meta / Re: Could the merit system demotivate lurkers? on: September 06, 2021, 10:46:55 PM
I disagree with your conclusions, and your premise, however you appear to make a well thought out argument that should provoke discussion. As such, I have given you sufficient merit to become a junior member.

It appears the majority of your posts are in marketplace threads that are generally niche in nature. I would say that someone who primarily posts in these types of threads, and does not frequently discuss bitcoin (even if they read about it) will be disadvantaged by the merit system as they will have more difficulty in ranking up. These people can still post, but with more disadvantageous limits. If you are mostly lurking, this may not be an issue, as by nature, you are not posting frequently. Although it may make it more difficult to conduct business.
379  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? on: September 06, 2021, 02:05:57 PM
I can confirm I received an automated remerit on one of my posts.

It should not be terribly difficult to detect when someone is sending merit via automated means, and someone could even create a script to quickly notify the forum as much.
380  Economy / Securities / Re: The magical days of classical bitcoin securities on: August 29, 2021, 02:47:37 AM
Ultimately, some people will be entrusted with enough money that they decide to pull an exit scam. It is very difficult to tell how much money someone will need to pull off this kind of scam, and the pseudo anonymous nature of crypto means that most people will face zero consequences from scamming.

I believe a moderate amount of regulation is necessary for crypto markets. It is still the Wild West out there, but things have improved since the last time the OP created a “business”.
